SPOILER!!: Grayson and GlitterFletcher :P

"The lottery's always something to try out," Grayson commented, as Salander had taken up her discussion of who'd submitted their name for the tournament. Money was always good, and there was always the chance of becoming known, getting even momentary fame. Granted, the tournament wasn't exactly the lottery, as you didn't actually win by getting selected. It was kind of more like you got selected, then went into a second lottery. But then she nodded as Salander pointed out the Headmaster's arrival. definitely looked like an announcement, and she had a moment of wishing she was back at her perch on the railing, but at least Tate was tall. So she could still sort of see him over the crowd. And she could definitely hear him.

As the names were listed off, her smile grew as she realized she'd gotten her wish that she'd know the Hogwarts champions, and she clapped politely for the names of the visiting students. They didn't get her half as excited, 'cause of the two she'd met, she really only had liked Noel. And she was still going to cheer on Hogwarts anyway, so it would be weird to get too excited over anyone else. Although, she really only knew three of the Hogwarts champions, and even then not very well. She knew Cameron, but only knew Miles as one of the Ravie prefects. And Raiden as the person she thought saw her just as a troublemaker and thought fireworks were bad.

But she craned her neck as their trio was joined by someone else, who obviously was speaking with their mouth full, and was about to say something about what Tate had just done when Salander had spoken. Her green eyes widened at what he'd said. Champ?. Sandwich boy must be the fourth, and as their conversation continued, she'd kept looking back and forth between the two boys. With a slight detour as the sandwich hit the floor. "Um, you . . .," she started to say, before she trailed off as she decided he didn't need to be told he'd dropped food on the floor. There was better things to get involved with. Like helping answer questions. "He's not joking." She may have never met him, but enough had been said for her to definitively say that Salander hadn't been joking. Except for maybe the drink part, but something told her that wasn't a joke either.

And even then that was irrelevant, and she just listened as they spoke of dying and not dying. "I don't think Tate'll let anyone die. Not intentionally," she said seriously. Nobody had died during the actual tasks in recent history, that she knew of. Other than Cedric, and he hadn't died 'cause of the tournament. And she was fully convinced anyone who had died from the tasks was because they'd done something stupid.

Eyes narrowing, Fletcher bent down to pick up his sandwich and considered Salander's little speech there. He was rather convincing, for one, and for another, how else would he have known the Duncan part of the Fletcher name?

Obviously TaterTot had read the results out and now everyone from oh, only every important magical school in Europe knew his entire hideous name.

Hmmph. "None," Fletcher answered Salander with a steely gaze, "there's only one Fletcher, just Fletcher. And I'll thank you to just go on ahead and forget my first name, all right?"

He took a giant bite out of his sandwich that yes, he had just dropped five minutes ago, and started chewing thoughtfully. "You mean WHEN I win this tourney," he gestured around with his sandwich like the Triwizard Cup was no big deal. "Not if, WHEN. Big difference."

Fletcher chewed some more and swallowed. "And if any of those things happen to me... well they just won't, will they? You'll just have to cheer extra long and hard for me so that I don't die and you do get your drink at the end."

He wink-winked, pat-patted the Slytherin on the shoulder. Ah, Salander was like his brotha from anotha... House. Heh.

Salander smirked at Duncan Fletcher getting all antsy that everybody now knows his first name. "Whatever you say Just Fletcher." he shrugged as he replied matter-of-factly, although the little gremlin in Salander is pointing and laughing at the GlitterPuff. So long as he, or any other student, doesnt get ahold of Salander's (ridiculously long) first names all will stay right with the world.

"Cheering?..."Salander grimaced. What does he think I am, a Laker Girl? "Cheering costs extra, there better be a whole case of that drink if you win... when you win." he grumbles as he looks at the crowd. Then he straightened up as something just occurred to him. He looks back at Fletcher and narrows his eyes "So confident are you? You're gonna win this thing?" He shoves his hands in his pockets and scans the crowd mumbling "Maybe I should start looking for a bookie.... "

I will help the best that I can." she said to him.

He just couldn't get over the reactions of the Hogvartian Champions. They were acting in a way a Champion should not act. Even the BeauxbaBLAH students were acting coolly and everyone knew they stood no chance of winning this Tournament. "That is very nice of you, Taylor. I might 'ave to take you up on that offer. I 'ave been in the library a lot recently. Alone." he smirked before winking at her.

She could always keep him company.

She smiled at him when he awnsered. "Just let me know when and where. I will be there." she told him. She looked around at everyone that was still acting weird over the choices and she rolled her eyes. "Yeah, that library is big. And it makes it harder to study when you are alone." she said.

Eyes still narrowed at Salander, Fletcher slowly nodded as he went back to just using his first name. So he really was a champion then, as the Ravenclaw girl standing near them confirmed.

AWESOMEEEEEEEE.

"I'll buy you a case of firewhiskey, all right, when I win. Somebody's gotta cheer me on, I mean, I'm probably the biggest unknown in this tournament." Fletcher took another big bite of sandwich and looked thoughtful as he chewed. The other Hogwarts champions were all Prefects and Seventh Years, so they probably knew a ton of people. And the foreigners... well there were only a few of them, so obviously they stood out.

And then there was Fletcher, just Fletcher. There were certain advantages to being the dark horse, he supposed.

"O'course I'm confident." He puffed out his chest a bit and winked at the 'Claw girl. You know, as Champions and Famous People do. "Fear not, m'lady. I'm certain I won't allow myself to die. I got too much to live for."

He shook Salander's shoulder as an example. "After all, wouldn't want this guy to not get his firewhiskey. Or his galleons he's going to wager on me." Cuz duh, who wouldn't bet for Fletcher?

The French Students & Rex.

Rubiey looked around, and spotted Rex, who seemed to be having a confrontation with some of the Beaubaxtons Champions.

Uh-Oh.

She walked swiftly over to them, and put a restraining hand on Rex's right arm. She glanced warily at him, before looking at the French students.

"Hi guys. Congrats on becoming Champions, and all." She smiled in a friendly way at them, then glanced back to Rex. "What are you doing?!" She hissed in his ear. They would hex him into oblivion, and she did not want that to happen to him. These French people were vaaaaaaaairy proud, and if you insulted them, boy did they get mad!

"I'm sure you will all do very well. It may not be enough to beat the Hogwarts Champions, but you'll do fine." She grinned, and winked at them to show them she was mucking around.

She grabbed Rex's other arm, and tried to steer him away. "Well, see you guys later." She said, turning away from them, keeping a firm grip on Rex's arms.

Not faiiiir!

Lori wasn't jealous, of course she wasn't. She may have put her name in that cup thing, but she kinda didn't want it at all. It was trouble. More trouble than this prefect malarky. Merlin, this Prefect stuff was hard and like... CAMMY KNEW THATTTT!

Frowning as Cammy repeated the dying comment, Lori gave her another squish only to frown even more as they were joined by Glitter!Poodle. "Don't call me thattttt, it's Lori! And shush. We're busy flailing over this... Eh."

OH SARAH! THANK MERLIN! Lori was certain this stuff with Cam and Oliver was going to get mushy-- and there it was. Cheek poking. Erk.

"They announced them.... C-c-Cammy... Raiden, Miles and some kid called Duncan Fletcher are for Hogwarts. I didn't listen for the other schooooooools. S-S-Sarahhhh! THEY MIGHT DIEEEE!" Oh how she loved involuntary loudness.

Sob.

Well Sarah had not put her name in the cup, so didn't really see the need to get there urgently. She'd find out the names of the competitors eventually - like now, as she wandered down to the ground floor and saw loads of people crowding around the age line. With the cup now looking different, she squinted at the people and tried to find someone she knew.

Spotting a rather worried looking Lori, Cam and Oliver, Sarah frowned. What on earth had happened? Elbowing her way through, with a few "Excuse me. Pardon me's" she reached them, and gave them a quizzical look. "Hey guys. Did they announce the names already?" Or are you lot worried about something else?

“Call you what?” Oliver asked Lori with mock confusion totally ignoring her shushing. “Daft mare or Lorelai?” He was actually confused about which she meant. He opened his gob again to follow up his comment with something oh so witty, but closed it with a snap when the Head Girl wandered over. Best behaviour, yeah? *snicker*

He grinned cheekily at his partner. He hadn't seen her yet this term! He'd just been too distracted by other things. “Hey Sarah.” He greeted her.

Hearing her question, he glanced at Cam and raised a brow about to reply but Lori was already on it. He frowned. She was still on about the champions dying. “No one is gonna bloody die, Lori.” Seriously, she wasn't helping Cam's stress here. Have some perception fer Merlin's sake! He would have poked her if the Head Girl wasn't standing right there... scrutinising.

o______o

But wait, HE was Head Boy! He had every right to poke her for being an unsubtle cow... so he did – in the arm. “Shut up, Lori.” His eyes flicked back to Cam as he tried to convey to her that she WASN'T HELPING HERE!

Guh.

"ohi'mgoingtodie..i'mgoingtodie," She whispered to herself, rocking back and forth. Oh merlin, merlin, merlin, MERLIN save her!

She didn't notice the fact that Oliver looked a little peaky. Nope. She only heard his Congratulations which cut her through her inner ranting.

Dragons were going to get her, OH MY - "huh?" Congratulations? She poked his cheek. "Are you sane, boy? Like.. seriously? Congratulations? This is the worst thing that has EVER happened to Hogwarts." Taking herself out of the equation obviously. It didn't matter. Nooooo, she was going to embarass her WHOLE BLOODY SCHOOL.

*pout*

And people had just started to like her.

Sarah's mouth dropped open as Lori wailed the news to her. She knew all those people! Well apart from this Fletcher guy, him she didn't know, but still... Looking from Cam to Oliver to Lori and back again, she was completely dumstruck for several seconds, trying to decide whether having half the Prefect team take part was a good thing or not. Well, this was a dangerous competition, nothing was really good about it whoever they were.

And then of course there was the whole 'THEY MIGHT DIEEEE' comment. Lori sometimes went a little overboard in her reactions, but this wasn't one of those times. What could you say to that? "Noooo, no-one will dieeeee," Sarah consoled her, arm around her shoulders. "These guys are all of age, and experianced enough to cope...Right Oliver, Cam?" Hmm, maybe Cam wasn't the best person to ask. Poor girl looked like she was about to keel over. "You'll do fine. All of you. I can feel it." Somewhere, deep inside.

Gulp.

Oliver's head was forced to the right when Cam poked his cheek. He smirked and looked back at her. “The hell are you on about? This is awesome, Cam. This is like, totally, epic.” His eyes glinted with glee despite his initial worry when her name was read out. Man, he was sooooo envious of her opportunity so he didn't really understand her reaction here. She put her name in there. Why? Just, like, why, if she didn't want to be selected? She should have given someone a chance who DID want to be a champion, ya know? Someone tall and awesome with curly hair...

Not that he was bitter or anything... <_<

She didn't need to hear what was going on in his head though, because she was clearly rather distressed right now. Er... Hermione who? Oliver just looked puzzled. “Your wandwork is just fine.” He replied. It was a hell of a lot better than his given the incidence of at the lake last year. Aaaand she turned him green that time in their fifth year and it seemed so effortless to her. Pfft.

“You die and I have to start wearing black all the time and looking like a right miserable sod. I seriously don't rock the goth look.” He smirked through his sarcasm. ..Of course he was going to make light of all this. It was the Oliver way. heh.

And then she started rocking back and forth and Oliver cast Lori and Sarah a worried look when the tears started. He reached out for her hand. “Calm down, Cam. Just breathe, 'kay? This is cool.. this is fine. You'll be fine..” Right? Bloody right! “You're'll be great.” She really needed to believe in herself more.

Thank gawd Sarah was here to tell Lori to shut it in a more subtle way than Oliver could. He watched her converse with Lori. Maan, she was so.. motherly wasn't she? He nodded in agreement. “The cup wouldn't have chosen them otherwise.” Or was it completely random? Now there was a question which shouldn't be asked right now. Heh heh.

Headmistress Enzo 09-13-2010 09:22 PM

Glad that no one seemed to be saying otherwise, Enzo turned and motioned for her students to come near her.

Noel Laurent 09-13-2010 10:15 PM

Noel silently sighed a breathe of relief when the boy seemed to be dragged away from an even younger girl. They did not need an even bigger scene at the moment in the middle of this Great Hall, especially with their Headmistress standing right there.

Seeing that she was motioning them to come even closer, his neutral expression did not waver when he glanced at the small distance there actually was, letting his straight posture slouch just the tiniest bit so he could at least look like he was moving closer to pay attention. Well, he himself at least couldn't move any more closer then that, but the others could of course.

Brielle Lambert 09-14-2010 01:15 AM

Brielle was more than happy when a younger Hog, came to lead the tall rude one away, she was also very happy to see their Headmistress, had come to congratulate them from being selected as champions.....even thought she was late, she was fashionably late.

Turning, she began to walk with Noel over, to their Beckoning Headmistress. Coming to a stop, she placed her hand on her hip, and with her other hair, flicked out her ponytail, it was just something she liked to do.

Jermaine Rousseau 09-14-2010 02:01 AM

Jermaine smiled as the young girl drug away the annoying, obnoxious boy who thought it appropriate to interrupt their celebrating with his rude comments. He was glad to see that all students from this school were not as rude as that boy. And to think, Jermaine was staying in the same house as that annoying creature. He didn't know how he had avoided runnung into him thus far but he was thankfull for it. Now to just keep the boy away from him the rest of the term.

Moving closer to their Headmistress he waited to hear what it was she wanted to talk about.

"I do hope that we are all playing nice," she said, her eyes darting from the faces of the Hogwarts students and then her own students.

She should put her wand away now.

"Madame Enzo." he greeted with a nod as he took a quick peak towards everyone else, including the petit garçon. And he will stay like that in Noel's mind until he learns some manners. "Oh, oui. Zis, iz all just a little misunderstanding."

"Do the Hogwarts students agree with the statement made by Monsieur Laurent?" She eyed them now. She refused to have her school be made a mockery of.

She nearly dropped her wand in surprise. But she didn't. She was much too classy for something so clumsy to happen to her.

"Thank you." she said to the small lion child. At least someone knew what was good for them. Oh, and she was taking the rude jealous boy away. Good.

She then turned her attention to the Headmistress. Why was everyone looking at her? Monique knew she was pretty, but they should all be used to her by now.

Oh yeahhhh.... her wand. "I just just playing with it." she said with an innocent smile. She then stepped toward the Headmistress eager to hear what she had to say.

Salander, Grayson, & Duncan Donuts <3's

Unless the concept of her reputation was back, and the girl was reacting to that. She didn't think so though. The girl looked new, to her at least. Not that most people didn't look fairly new to her anyway, having only been at Hogwarts since last term. She waved back, though. That was cute. Since she'd already said hi, she didn't want to seem stupid and repeat herself, so she went straight for the introduction part, watching as Haughtine scanned her robes for information. "You have an interesting name too," she observed, before smiling again. "I'm Grayson." Comment away, as she was used to it. Although Salander hadn't actually said anything about her name like most people did.

A giggle escaped as they were asked about who'd put their names in. "Salander has. I'm not old enough," she responded. "Lots of others have put their names in too. I wonder when the champions will be chosen," she continued, a thoughtful look crossing her features. That was going to be the next exciting step. Unless someone else risked the bird transformation. She wasn't getting her hopes up though.

"Thanks. M'grandad gave it to me. On my mom's side they are from Northumberland." She caught herself speaking out of context and drew in a long breath looking upways to gather her thoughts before again directing her attention to the girl called Grayson. "Weeell, what I mean is, it's a family name." There. Now we're makin' sense.
"What about your name? I've never heard it before now and not to offend you, but if I had heard the name Grayson being called out in the corridors I would think that it might be a boy student. Maybe that's a good thing, though. You won't have people thinking you're too girly for anything." She stopped herself when she realized she was babbling and froze at the mention of what must've been the boys name. Salander. Haughtine wondered what possible meaning his name could have and was starting to worry that if she didn't meet some Sams, or Sarahs, or Micheals soon, she was going to forget who everyone was by the end of the week.

Although, clearly surprised, the boy seemed remarkably relaxed for what had just transpired. Judging by everyone elses reaction to this goblet event, you'd think he would've thrown the sandwich into the air (rather than letting it hit the ground with a dry flop) and declared drinks for he and Salander then and there to mark the occasion. And the more the two boys spoke, the more Haughtine wondered why the one called Duncan Fletcher didn't offer drinks then and there.

Maimed? Drowned? Eaten by a dragon? Being a champion just sounded dangerous. Who could tell if the boy would live to offer drinks another day?

"Duncan was it?" Haughtine took the back of her hand which was engulfed in her tad too large robe sleeve and brushed her messy hair back away from her face. She stuck out her small hand to shake his. "Congratulations on being chosen to be a champion... I think."

"You're really quite good, you know." Said the firstie overlooking the drawing. "You didn't skimp on the details and I like how you've done the shadows there." Judging by everyone elses reaction to this goblet event, you'd think he would've thrown the sandwich into the air (rather than letting it hit the ground with a dry flop) and declared drinks for he and Salander then and there to mark the occasion.

I think."

Popping the last bite of sandwich into his mouth, Fletcher slowly turned his gaze from staring around the room (CONSTANT VIGILANCE, ya know) and settled his eyes on some firstie addressing him.

D'awwww it was so cute. And lil. And wrong about his name.

"No no, I'm Fletcher, just Fletcher," he corrected her, taking the offered hand and giving it a polite shake. "Thank you... I think? What is your name....er....Miss???"

"You're really quite good, you know." Said the firstie overlooking the drawing. "You didn't skimp on the details and I like how you've done the shadows there." Haughtine sighed, not out of boredom, but out of worry that she may not learn very much about charms herself. What if it wasn't the girls doing that she wasn't very good at charms. "What classes are you gooda...ohm, my name's Haughtine, by the way. What's yours?"

Daisy smiled, "Well thank you. I don't think I've ever had anyone pay that much attention to my art work before." She extended her hand to the firstie and polietly said, "Daisy Elizabeth Rohdes. But I got by Daisy."

"Dreaming?" he asked tilting his head to the side. "Do you sleepwalk of something?"

Marie looked down at Carter's hands when he said maybe there was something wrong with him. She didn't see anything that looked wrong. What if that stupid potion of Destiny's had done something to him other than make him fall in love with her. If that happened then Merlin help Destiny because Marie would hex her into oblivion the next time she seen her.

"Sleepwalk? I don't think I do." she said. "I um, thought I was dreaming because... well... I got the feeling you've been avoiding me since the feast so I thought maybe my mind was playing tricks on me." She still wasn't positive that she wasn't dreaming right now. They did learn that in a false awakening dream you think everything that is happening is real. So really, this could still all be a dream and any minute now she would wake up and find herself in her bed.

Erm.

He really did not understand the people at Hogwarts. Perhaps staying at the school a little longer would help him, but he doubted that entirely. "If you didn't vant to ve picked, vhy did you put your name in the Govlet?" he asked, glancing around the room once more. It seemed the Champions, the Hogvart ones to be exact, were not taking the news of being picked to well. He looked back at the girl, whose name he learned was Amber. "It is nice to meet you, Amber. I vould tell you my name, vut you already knoe it."

Amber giggled. This guy's accent was cracking her up! "As I said before, I put my name in the Goblet to prove a point. Plus I wanted to... uhh, kind of impress someone." She blushed slightly, glancing around the room. It wasn't Onion, DUH!, but it was someone her age. She shifted her feet slightly.

A slight grin crossed Grayson's face as she figured Duncan Fletcher had somewhat misunderstood what she'd said. Entirely. But the wink was funny, and oddly intriguing, and a whole lot of other things that she was still getting used to. "Obviously you're confident. I mean, I can't see how anyone could think anything else," she said with a little laugh. "And I never said I would fear any of it. I just said that I thought Headmaster Tate wouldn't let anyone die. You wouldn't have been chosen if you couldn't handle it." Anyone who knew anything about the tournament knew that. Beyond the whole incident with Harry, but even then he'd managed to get through everything. Even though he'd been not much older than her. Actually, a bit younger. And she turned a bemused gaze onto Salander as the firewhiskey was brought up again. "No, wouldn't want that."

Oh, and little Haughtine was speaking to her again. Grayson returned her attention to the little firstie (little being relative, as there can't have been a lot of height difference) and smiled. "Sure. Family name," she said vaguely, with a little nod. She wasn't exactly sure where Northumberland fit into any of it, and she still just thought it was a pretty name. Unique. And then her little annoyance decided to pop up again, but she let Haughtine go on it as she'd at least sort of apologized. "I know. I get that all the time, and trust me, it's annoying. But I think my name fits me. Sorta. I just see it as different. Special, y'know?" She stopped her discussion as a weird look crossed the younger girl's face, and started wondering what exactly was going on. That looked worried. Maybe she'd caught the conversation about Fletcher dying in the tournament or something. She didn't know what, but now the other girl was talking to Fletcher, so she lapsed into silence. She still didn't know why everyone was getting all worried about dragons. And getting maimed, everything else that had been tossed around. Nobody had any faith that they'd survive, apparently, and Grayson wondered if somehow she was more equipped than any of the chosen champions.

"I haven't been avoiding you." he said running his hand through his hair. Which was true. He just wasn't looking for her. "Well... err... I should probably get going. But we should catch up sometime..."

"That's good, I'm glad you're alright." Marie said. She really did hate the thought of something being wrong with him. "Oh," she said. It seemed he only called for her so he could get away from the French students. Right, she should have known it wasn't because he really wanted to talk to her.

Feeling like someone had just stabbed her in the chest she held back the tears when Carter said he should get going. She was NOT going to cry in front of him. She would not let him know that he was still hurting her. He may say he wasn't avoiding her but it was obvious now that he didn't want to talk to her. They had only been talking for a couple of minutes and already he was leaving... now that the French students were out of his sight. "Yeah... right... catch up sometime." She had a feeling she knew what that meant. 'Yeah, we'll talk when I need to use you again to get away from someone.'

Now she wished she was dreaming. At least then she would still be able to hold on to the hope that Carter would want to talk to her when he seen her. Now all hope was gone.

"Nice.... to meet you," he settled for saying since he obviously couldn't pronounce either part of her name. Merlin that was a mouthful. Her name was probably longer than she was tall!

He glanced at Salander to see if he was hearing what he was hearing and then back to the girl as she spoke again. Oh okay. "Um... no idea," he shrugged as if it was no big deal and the unknown was not as frightening as it really was. He puffed out his chest once more to look fearless.

"Of COURSE I am NOT afraid." He even thumped one hand on said chest. "Champions have no fear and I," Gesundheit, "am fearless. FEARLESS. I will slay a dragon if that is a task and maiming?" He scoffed. "I haven't even considered the possibility."

Cuz.... that would suck and Fletcher really didn't need to think about that side of the tournament.

Haughtine looked for a moment stunned in a sort of blank awe by the boys brazen confidence. She knew she'd be terrified if it were her.

Tatertot?

Well, at least it would be easy to remember.

SilverTiger 09-18-2010 09:02 AM

LOL Just don't ever actually call her Grace.

Grayson turned her bemused gaze back to Duncan Fletcher as he replied to her again. She was seriously going to think of him that way for a while, at least. If not all the time, as it was oddly amusing to cross things out in her head. But right now she was amused by his calling her 'm'lady'. Like they were back, well, she wasn't sure when but back in time a lot. "Of course. When is it not?," she said with a grin, in response, before she struggled not to giggle at the nickname for the headmaster. That was awesome. "I doubt he actually is. Apathetic, at least. I mean, he sort of has to be tough, don't'cha think?," she said, turning a bit thoughtful for a second. "Dying would defeat the purpose of winning the tournament. I think they wouldn't be so careful about who they let enter if it defeated the purpose of holding it. I mean, the possibility makes it exciting. Still don't think the headmaster would let any of you die, though," she continued. Of course, she wouldn't put it past the scary Durmstrang headmaster guy. He looked like if you were in danger of dying, he'd just watch. Maybe with popcorn, although she thought that seemed a bit too playful for scary!man.

And then she saw Haughtine simply nod at her semi-random answer to the discussion about her name. She smiled at the little girl again, figuring the nod had something to do with the unique name thing. They definitely shared that distinction. It remained to be seen if the other girl would prove to be as fun as her, though. No reason to not be nice, anyway. But she hadn't said anything, so her attention quickly went back to the whole tournament discussion/not dying thing. It was too hard not finding that interesting. Besides, she wanted to know what would happen next.
