Fee listend to the instrcutions and put the cottage cheese into the cauldron. Setting it on the fire she waited for the next instruction from the professor. Woah. What a smell. |
SPOILER!!: Anyone says they are in cooking class will be today's lesson's guinney pig... LOL They were doing good, but some of them were acting as if they were bored... "Next, take your silver knife and chop your asphodel leaf in small wet pieces. Mix it into the two teaspoons of dragon marrow, and you'll see it swell. Once that happens gently put it into the cauldron." She said, showing them. |
*makes guinea pig noises* Now that the cottage cheese was heating up, the room began to take on a strong and maybe just a little delicious smelling smell. GRUMBLE Kurumi's stomach was talking. Her free hand covered it, as if that was going to make the sound less noticeable. She looked around...maybe no one had noticed? After cleaning her spoon and setting it on the table. She picked up her CLEAN silver knife and began cutting her asphodel leaf. She mixed it with her dragon marrow and, ew, at least she knew that the swelling was natural. She then put that into her cauldron and waited. SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment |
LOL. if that's the case, Treyen volunteers. Mix. Chop. They were in...some other class. Siiiigh. It was Herbology all over again! Except, maybe it wouldn't seem so when they get to handle the tail. Eek, the tail! Aha. Clean the knife. Done. Chop the leaves. Done. Mix it with two tablespoons of the dragon thing. Done. Wait, wait, wait. Swelling. Good. Now the boy was adding that to the cauldron mix. What next? Oregano? :P |
hehe. Destiny felt like she was in COOKING CLASS! Yeah, she doubted there would be an animal tail in a kitchen, but one was never to know. Some people do like to eat weird things. Destiny's grandmother for example. That woman sat on the sofa once and ate a whole box of moth balls! Sure, the woman didn't know they were moth balls, but she didn't complain afterwards. After flipping the..whatever that stuff would be called, she put down her spoon and waited for the next instructions. Next was chopping. Cooking class, indeed. Picking up the silver knife, she wiped it off before chopping the asphodel leaf. Small wet pieces, that could be arranged and it was! A nice little pile slowly appeared and setting the knife down, she mixed in the dragon marrow. Swelling. Swelling. Swelling! It was like magic. Gently placing the swelling blob into her cauldron, Destiny raised her hand. "Do we eat this with a fork?" Because there would be no way she'd drink a dragon marrow and warty newt tail milkshake. |

There that looks good, he mused to himself once the mixture had swelled. Simon looked back up at the head table and watched the proceedre before mimicking it into his own cauldron. |
Woot, finally caught up Finally it was time to start brewing the potion. Marie was happy that all the talking about ingredients was over and they were finally going to do something. Hopefully they weren't going to have to test out this potion though. She was not about to try anything from this class, even if she was the one making it. She checked to make sure the cottage cheese was still in her cauldron... you know in case Destiny had decided to eat it when she wasn't looking. Seeing it was still there she lit the fire under the cauldron. "Incendio!" Once the cottage cheese was warm she added the cereal and the salt then folded the ingredients together with her wooden spoon. It's a good thing the woman in the front of the room was showing them what to do because Marie had no clue what 'folding' ingredients meant. Now it was time to chop up some leaves. Not just any leaves though, asphodel leaves. Making sure her silver knife was clean she chopped up one leaf into small pieces then mixed it with the dragon bone marrow and watched it swell. Gently paced mixture in cauldron. Now what? Update journal, that's what. SPOILER!!: Marie's Journal |

He proceeded to take up his scourgified silver knife and chopped up the asphodel leaf, then mixed it in with the dragon marrow."Coool...." he snickered as the marrow mixture began to puff up like a homemade science project. Gently he levitated the mixture and added it into the pot. SPOILER!!: Salander's parchment |
Y'all are silly!, what I ment was if anyone SAYS it out loud so Hecate can hear it... SPOILER!!: Silly Babies... Quote:
Well... most of the students were doing well... if Hecate didn't know better, she would think she was proud of them... ... ... Nehhhh... "All right," She said and grabbed the unicorn powder... "I have ground the unicorn horn as you don't need a whole horn for the potion, just four tablespoons. It's very hard and a simple mortar and pestle would not do the job. I will show you how." She took a unicorn horn and placed it in a bowl. She pointed her wand at it and making jabbing motions at it three times, said "Permolus!" She held the wand firm and hard against her stomach as it seemed to kick back with each mini blast to the horn... which it continued to do until it was completely ground to a powder. She pulled the wand away. That's going to leave another bruise... she thought. "And that's how you grind unicorn horn... This will make five horns total... enough for the whole class to have their dose." She opened the packet of Jell-o "Hmmm Blueberry..." She said with a smirk. She loved blueberries. "Add the Jell-o powder to the horn powder and mix together before adding it to your cauldron. If the powder does not melt down... it just means we let the cottage cheese cook too long. This is not a problem, it happens 9 out of 10 times. Add a little water... just enough to melt the powder." ooc: In latin 'permolo' means to grind thoroughly. |
catching up :) Quote:
a half cup of bran cereal, and two tablespoons of salt, all done she picked up her wooden spoon made the flipping motion just as the professor had showed them, she scribbled last 2 steps down in her journal and waited for Professor Lafay to continue. Quote:

MEEP! Oh wait, back to the potion. Glancing over to the Professor, she measured out half a cup of the bran cereal and placed it in with the cottage cheese before measuring out the two tablespoons of salt. Seriously, salt with cereal was disgusting. Cereal was disgusting just in general actually. So surely salt with it was even more…bleh. Sighing, the Slytherin cleaned her wooden spoon before ‘folding’ the ingredients together. Pfft to whoever didn’t know what ‘folding’ was. Obviously they’d never been in the kitchen then. Hehe. Quote:
Pulling the asphodel leaves closer, the Slytherin glanced over to Destiny, who had already chopped hers and added it to the dragon bone marrow. Woah. It really did swell. Ack! Chopping her own asphodel leaves until they were small wet pieces like they were told to do, the fourth year added them to the dragon marrow and started to mix the- OMG they were swelling. Or…IT was swelling. WHAT?! Meeeh. SPOILER!!: hellooooo jellooooo Oh that is so gross. EAT it!? Pffft. She’d only heard ‘drink it’ before in potions class. Not, EAT it. Eating something required it to be chewable. Which meant, this potion was going to be chewy!? *shudder* Watching Lafay demonstrate that spell thing to ground the unicorn horn, Evelyn was beginning to wonder if they were to do that spell. The Slytherin would…not be able to stay on her seat if she did- OH hey! Look, it’s already on their table. Mwahaha! No need for the spell then. And no toppling off seats and then being yelled at or have eyes rolled at them. Teehee. O____O Ew. Blueberries. Opening her own packet of jell-ooooo, for a moment, she stared at the dark powder. Meh? Sniffing it, she raised a brow before adding the contents into the cauldron. Raspberry wasn’t so bad. MELT! Dangit. She wanted the stuff to melt. Psssh. |
Dianna did everything like she was told to do. She placed half cup of bran cereal and the two tablespoons of salt into her cauldron. She did the flipping motion (cooking class much?) and then took her silver knife and chopped the asphodel leaf in small wet pieces. She mixed it into the two teaspoons of dragon marrow and watched it swell. Adding that into her cauldron she took some of the grounded unicorn horn the Professor just blasted. Opening her jell-o, Dianna couldn't help but smile as she got Peach. Yes, she liked peach. She added the jell-o with the four tablespoons of grounded unicorn horn and placed the mixture into her cauldron. Please melt she thought. Miraculously, it melted with the other contents and pleased with herself jotted down more notes as she waited for further instructions. |
in that case...*whistles* Oh, the poor unicorn that died in order for them to make this. At least it was one that died and was not killed, right? Never mind. He was happy they were using creatures or parts of them for this potion, it made it less of a cooking lesson. He watched and wrote down the spell, in case he ever needed it. Taking notes was a must in Potions. He went over and took the four tablespoons of the powder. He placed it aside so he could open the Jell-O package. Ha. Grapes. Why was it always purpleness?! He was getting tired of it. Plus, he wanted a strawberry flavored one. Mixing and adding. Done. Then he heard the word he feared the most. "Cook?" groan, "I don't like cooking" and this seemed like a cooking lesson, either way, he had to add a little bit of water, because the powder wouldn't melt. Stupid cheese. |
In case one more Guinea pig is needed??? Maybe XD Quote:
Squinting at her measuring cup, she measured out the half cup of bran cereal and two separate tablespoons of salt. Aaand in they went. Wooden spoon in hand, Ivory grinned down at her potion folding the mixture from the outsides to the insides almost as if she was making rice. Quote:
Quote:
But for now.... All she had to do was measure. So measure she did. Getting her four table spoons into a mixing bowl at the front of class she took it back to her work station and added a light pinkish jello packet. Sniffing it tentatively, she shrugged her shoulders. It seemed like cherry, smelled like cherry so odds were it probably was. Mixing the powders thoroughly, she drizzled it all into her cauldron, watching as ever so slowly everything began to melt. Grinning she looked down at her results. Compared to their past potions from this term and the very volatile ingredients they had dealt with and luckily weren't dealing with this time, this potion seemed somehow simpler in nature."...almost like cooking.." Ivory said aloud to herself, having no way of knowing how close Professor Lafay was and how wrong, inappropriate that statement would probably be found. |
being more direct then *squeek squeek* Quote:
SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment OK...now time to mix and add. Kurumi was glad that she had raspberry Jell-O as it was one of her favorite flavors. After adding her powder ingredients, Kurumi checked her caludron to see that it was not melting. "Oops, cooked the cottage cheese too long," she said aloud adding just a bit of water. "There we go...now it should melt. This is just like home ec. in my school back in Japan," she chirped. Now she was going to have to thank her mother for all the cooking advice. Kurumi just loved cooking and was taken aback by the one boy's comment. "You don't like cooking? I think it is a lot of fun." |
CATSUP. I mean, ketchup. Er, CATCH. UP. Ya. Ketchuping in Cooking Class. :D Blah blah blah blah blah. "This is totally a cooking class," Fletcher murmured under his breath to both Kurumi and Treyen. "All the ingredients are like, food!" Only they weren't allowed to EAT THEM, were they?! NO. Because Fletcher had tried that once and how well had that worked out? Hmmph. Still grumbling to himself, Fletcher thoroughly inspected his cauldron and then scourgified it inside and out. He dumped his cottage cheese and lit the burner with his wand. What was next? Bran? Easy. Fletcher measured out the bran, and, after casting a sneaky glance about the room, picked a few flakes off the top and placed them on his tongue. OM NOM NOM she did NOT see that. And he wasn't crunching this time so there was no way Lafay had heard either. He was just measuring. That was all. In went the bran and then the salt, which did not need a taste-test verification, and Fletcher began mixing the ingredients with a spoon. Or 'folding,' them. Whatever. "You only fold ingredients together when you cook," he continued muttering. Not that this boy cooked....ever....but he had read his fake-mum's recipes. Mhmm. Moving on, Fletcher hurriedly chopped up his asphodel leaves and mushed 'em together with the dragon marrow. He leaned his face in close to the mixture and made "ooooooh" sounds as it magically swelled. "WICKED." Well that was cool at least. Fletcher carelessly dumped that mess into the cauldron and then acquired his portion of the unicorn horn. It seemed a bit weird to be using what was probably a very valuable substance, but whatever. It had been weird to use phoenix tears last lesson too... eh....but he supposed that Lafay knew her stuff, usually. Except when it came to CLEANING CAULDRONS. NOT EVERY CAULDRON SHOULD BE CLEANED BEFORE POTION-MAKING TAKES PLACE, SHOULD IT? BECAUSE THAT CAN ALSO LEAD TO DISASTROUS RESULTS, CAN'T IT?! And that reminded Fletcher. As he added the Jell-O mixture to his ground horn and then dumped the whole thing into his cauldron, his current frown deepened. That potion didn't look right. Things weren't mixing right... hmm... it must be needing a spot of water... so Fletch fixed that with a bit of aguamenti and a few more stirs. There. Now that there was a pause in the potion making, he figured it would be a good time to ask the professor the question that had been on his mind since the second task of the tournament. "Question for your expertness, Professssah," he drawled lazily, flapping his hand up and around in the air. "If you were to --- hypothetically --- come across a random old cauldron in the middle of a maze and you had to --- hypothetically --- brew a growth potion in said hypothetical cauldron... and a variety of hypothetical ingredients were available to you along with something already bubbling in this hypothetical cauldron....." Fletcher paused to take a breath and raise an eyebrow. "What would be the first thing you would do, madame? Hypothetically speaking, of course." He wasn't sure if he'd gotten that point across yet. |

What!? They were going to have to eat this? No chance in hell of Marie eating this potion. She would protest the class again if she had to. She would evenesco it if she had to. She watched as Lafay ground the unicorn horn grateful that she didn't have to do it herself. The less work she had to do in this class the happier she was. Opening her jell-o packet she added the unicorn horn powder to it and mixed it up. Yes! The powder melted, she did not have to add any water. Although with as thick as this stuff was maybe she should have added a little liquid to it. This stuff was disgusting looking. Even the smell of the strawberry jell-o couldn't make it look appealing. Looking around the class she was really wishing Raiden was there. She missed not having him there with her. Class was so boring without him. Guess she could just update her journal now. SPOILER!!: Marie's Journal |
LOLOLOL @y'all cooky-cooks. imma siting this one out sorreh... Salander watched as the Professor He lined up to take his share of the unicorn horn and returned to his table. Picking up the Jell-O packet, he gave it a couple of flicks before ripping it open. He looked in expectantly and gave it a sniff Ey... is that... he wondered as he dipped a finger in and tasted the powder... "Oi! Pina Colada! Must be my lucky day..." he grinned as he mixed the jello in with the unicorn powder, then poured it into the pot. Watching the powder for a few seconds, the lad scowled Dang its just sitting there in a pile. Picking up his wand, he cast a quiet "Aguamenti.", pouring just enough to dissolve the powder in. SPOILER!!: Salander's Parchment |
They weren't to eat it yet? So that meant they WERE going to eat it, right? Destiny thought this was Potion's and not a cooking class. Sure, they made cupcakes last term in Charm's but Professor Carlton gave them each an apron to wear. She was not wearing one right now. "Professor! If we are cooking, can I wear an apron?" Because they were cool, and she wanted to be official. At least she didn't ask to wear the chef hat! While waiting for the oh so very important answer to her oh so very important question, she moved on to the next step in this cooking lesson. Destiny had no idea why the Professor was holding her wand like that and moving backwards without moving her feet, but it looked cool, and if she hadn't already asked a question, she would have asked if she could try that. But, knowing Destiny, she would probably fly all the way to the back of the classroom. Picking up her jell-o package, she opened it to reveal the smell of oranges! Yes! Sticking her finger in the packet, she stuck it in her mouth before mixing the two powders together and pouring it into the cauldron. Hehehehehehe. Her finger was orange. But that was okay. She was unique, and she'd be even more unique if she was allowed to wear an apron. Leaning over her cauldron, far enough where her eyebrows would not get singed Destiny Shepard: Cooking Extraordinaire..minus the apron. |

"Miss Shepard. Join me at the front please." She said closing her eyes and rubbing the bridge of her nose. "Drop in the tail, which will begin to shrivel up and then begin crushing the sopophorous beans in your mortar with your pestle. Once you are done, sprinkle the bean powder on the potion. Then squeeze the marshmallow on the top... let it simmer for 20 minutes and the potion will be ready." She said watching the brats do as they were told. ooc: Just to clarify here the kids who were asked to come to the front agree to have a or multiple bones removed and test the potion. If you do not agree, do not come to the front. |

Professor Lafay had called her up to the front to give her an apron. Of course, while she was up at the front of the class, she would pick one up for Evelyn and Marie. They were the She-Snakes, they did everything the same. Well, not exactly the same, but so close it was scary. Nudging both Marie and Evelyn, Destiny inclined her head towards her cauldron and winked one eye. That was spy talk and she told them to keep an eye on the cauldron so it didn't explode. She didn't know how long it would take to collect the aprons. And yes, Destiny did not pay attention to the other students Lafay called up to the class. If she did, she probably wouldn't have skipped towards the front. Stopping right next to the Professor, she held her hands out getting ready to take the aprons. She refrained from saying 'Three please.' Destiny was sure Lafay knew the deal. |
^,^ Rearranged a bit if that's okay??? Quote:
Nodding along with the next instructions, Ivory measured out her next ingredients, separating them in the little measuring bowls. Deeming her potion ready, she sat up on her stool eying the swirling recesses as she lowered the newt tail. Eye of newt and wing of bat... Grinning stupidly as she thought about that old Shakespearian play, she moved on before she added things she wasn't supposed to. Counting out two beans, she dropped them into her clean mortar and pestle she made quick work of crushing them evenly and into a fine powder. She was mighty tempted to try out that spell but naaaah....better not try out the spell for the first time. It would be just her luck if the force of the spell knocked her back, toppling cauldrons in her wake. No, no that wouldn't do. Now that she'd fully attacked each bean to the point where there wasn't any clumps whatsoever, she tipped the bowl over the cauldron and sprinkled the powder, pretending she she was in the charms kitchen and this was a simple step of drizzling confectioner's sugar over some desert or other. "If only I had a chef's hat..." Grinning she continued. It was a mental similarity that didn't go away, especially since the next step involved the squeezing of the liquid marshmallow. Five squeezes of the plastic bag later, the top of her potion was cake looking with the liquid marshmallow neatly on the top. Setting her potion timer for twenty minutes, she made herself busy jotting down her process and cleaning up a bit. That is until something caught her attention.... Glancing up from her journal updating, Ivory paused for a second at the sound of the Professor's voice. To the front of the class? Well alright. With a last cautionary glance at the progress of her potion, Ivory scooted off her stool and shuffled to the front of the class. Assuming this had something to do with the fact that her potion had progressed so neatly, what else could it possibly be? She even smiled as she moved to stand at the Professor's other side sure some sort of praise was in order. Right??? Right?? |
SPOILER!!: professor She tossed in a half of cup of bran ceral and a two tablespoons of salt. With her wooden spoon she began to fold in the ingredents. (after cleaning The spoon) SPOILER!!: professor Nessa took her silver knife and cleaned it and then began to chop the asphodel leaf and then placed the pieces with two teaspoons of dragon marrow. It begaan to swell and she placed it into her cauldron. SPOILER!!: professor She opened the jello packet. It was strawberry not bad. she added it to the horn powder and placed it in the cauldron and it melted down completly. She placed in the tail and began to crush the sopophorous been in the clean mortar and pestle. After the bean was crushed to powder she added to the potion. She squeezed marshmallow on top and let it simmer. She turned to her paper and joted down the last few steps |
