SPOILER!!: proffie starting to get annoyed perhaps? Kurumi watched as the dragon lady's face began to get agitated with some of their answers...she didn't even respond to the one! Kurumi went back to her notes to add about the leaves before trying to think of some animal that could have strong bone marrow. Wait...did she go out and kill an animal for their potion's class? This was worse than the phoenix tears from last lesson. Hmm...an animal that is able to adapt easily...the first thing that popped into her mind was a boggart, but wouldn't that be impossible considering that no one knew what a boggart looked like? Kurumi decided to not make a fool of herself and waited to see what animal this was. Unicorn had already been offered as an answer, and while that had also popped into her mind...wasn't that....not good to slay a unicorn? SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment |
Fee really had no idea. All the animals she had in her head were already said so she just sat there and listened to her class mates. She had a certain feeling that potions wouldnt be too good with her. Good but not too good. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Lafay "Is it unicorn" she said. She looked at the professor her anwser to the last question might had set her off what if this one did the same thing oh my gosh what would she do. Just coware under her book. |

Alice felt herself shiver. "Professor Lafay, would we be using either a unicorn bone marrow or a phoenixes?" Alice certainly hoped not since it seemed kind of cruel to take a bone marrow from such pure creatures. |

"It's Dragon Marrow, more precisely a Peruvian Vipertooth. It is strong, compact and contains the minerals we need for bone regeneration... Because the Viperfoot is native to Peru, you'd think muggles would know of it's existence. They do not. Some people believe that particular type of dragon has camouflage abilities and that is why the marrow adapts to a human's... I'm not sure how true that is, but it works." She then took the horn powder and raised it. "Unicorn Horn, powdered this also has many minerals and properties to strengthen and re-grow bones." She said and then she pulled out the Jello packet. "Who knows what this is? You each have a different flavor. What is it, and why is it used?" She asked. |
Simon updated his notes as the professor supplied the correct answer before his eyes passed over his own packet of the stuff. He knew what it was...having been exposed to muggle items like it since his childhood and he tried to remember some of the characteristics of it that might be useful to a potion especially a bone-regernation one. "Its Jello, Professor, a type of gelatin," he supplied after raising his hand. "And if I'm not mistaken gelatin is processed collogen...a protein found in bones among other things," he added as it came to mind hoping it was right for once. |

Dragon? Wha--?! His head was tilted to one side as he thought of...the dragon. Surely Peruvian Vipertooth was the smallest, but a dragon nonetheless. His hand was raised, "It is gelatin, Professor...or, well, once prepared it is, right now it's only powdered gelatin" if that made any sense, but he had no idea why they were using this Jell-O packages, really, he preferred pudding, "The real gelatin has something to do with collagen, no? And that helps with all sorts of regeneration" he said, not knowing precisely what the real relation was between gelatin and collagen, it was too complicated, "Though, not sure how collagen fits the powdered gelatin we have here" because it was an animal thing. |
SPOILER!!: I was so going to guess dragon >.< Aand dragon would have been another guess. Oh well, she probably would have said boggart first and received a scary look from dragon lady. Kurumi chuckled to herself at the thought of them using dragon marrow in potions class as was instructed by the dragon lady. -snicker snicker- Kurumi then picked up her packet of Jell-O and smelled it. Oh! Raspberry flavor, one of her favorites. "Professor, this packet contains a powder contains powdered gelatin and some artificial sweeteners." She set her packet down on the table. "It dissolves in hot water and will set when cooled. Gelatin is a protein produced from collagen extracted from the boiled bones, connective tissues, and intestines of animals. My family never used this brand of Jell-O...we always used a vegetarian type because my brother had issues with eating horse hooves." Was this potion going to end up like a Jell-O shot? That sounded like a terrible idea... She went back to her notes to add in the previous details about the bone marrow. SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment |

Dianna looked at the packet of Jell-o. "It's gelatin, Professor. Derived from the collagen inside animals' skin and bones. It is commonly used as a gelling agent in food. Also jell-o varies from different flavors and colors." she said as she lowered her hand. Mmm.. She haven't had jell-o for a long time.. |
"Thats Gelatin. It can be used as a stabilizer, thickener, or texturizer,Professor", Fee said raising her hand. Somehow she felt not too good today, but hoped she would succes this time. |
"Its a package of J-ELLO. Its a type of geletain thingy" she said. NOW that was obvious. Jello was the most yummeist thing ever! |
Quote:
"That's instant jello, isn't it Professsor? And I suppose given it's spongy consistency and the way it kind of forms into a big blob when you make it, it could be used to hold the ingredients of the potion together?" |
SPOILER!!: Good Babies "Precicely, yes, collagen protein is very important for the bones." She said and then looked at Hollingberry's parchment. He pointed to the horn powder and repeated, slower. "Unicorn Horn, powdered this also has many minerals and properties to strengthen and re-grow bones. I'm not skipping it, I'm just going over it in a faster manner." She moved away from the child and continued. She held up the tail, which was still wiggling on it's own. "What is this and why are we using it?" She said. |
The thing was still moving! Oh, how couldn't he notice that? The tail was moving, eek! Poor animal, whatever the animal was. Then again, if it was still moving, then the animal could survive without it, no? And what kind of animal survives without its tail? Probably some sort of gecko, or reptile thing. Snakes didn't, right? Hand raised. "A tail, Professor...and I guess, whatever animal it had belonged to, the tail has the ability to regenerate itself, not to mention the flexibility it holds, aaand..." he had nothing further to say. |
Quote:
"I'm assuming that's a tail to an animal, but as to what animal I'm not entirely sure. Is it the tail from some kind of lizard?" |
Dianna blinked twice before realizing that the tail was in fact moving on it's own. "It is a tail, Professor. Maybe because some tails such as lizards can be grown back..?" Dianna said as she lowered her hand. She wondered whether it was going to be squiggling forever. It is rather weird and annoying to watch. |

It was Potions after all though, she might as well get used to it. She took a deep breath. "Perhaps the tail of a gecko, Professor? The nerves in the tail twitch randomly sometimes, and it still flicks to warn off predators." she stated, the wiggling tail wanting to make her scream. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. |
Quote:
Seeing the last answer had been right she had gotten a little more confident. "And maybe the tail can regenerate itself, whatever animal it belonged to." |
SPOILER!!: Lizard Babies "It is a type of lizard, yes, it's actually from the Salamander family, and it's used in potions a lot. It's a newt. It's used for its regenerative properties. See, newts have the ability to regenerate many bodyparts... limbs, eyes, spinal cords, intestines, upper and lower jaws... even hearts." She said and turned to allow everyone to see the newt tail. "This is from a warty newt, or crested newt which are native of this area..." She put down the tail and pulled the sopophorous beans. "What are these and why are we using them?" She asked. |
Quote:
Treyen...knew he had to make the potion, but he didn't feel like throwing a moving tail when the time to start brewing came. Hopefully the tail wouldn't move, and trust him to levitate the poor little tail into the cauldron, yes...unless...did they have to cut it? He eyed whatever Professor Lafay was holding, ooooh, hand raised, "Those are sopophorous beans, no? And...because they can help a little with the pain that comes with regenerating a bone? Like, calming properties?" haha, he had no idea. |
Right. Evelyn was soooo paying attention and not playing with the newt tail. Or poking it with her wand, or anything of the sort that caused a few giggles to escape her every now and then. Because, Evelyn, did not, giggle. At all! Pffft. Pfffffffft. Looking back up to Professor Lafay, she was kinda hoping they would just get to making the potion, and learn what the ingredients are for as they went along, but well, she wasn't about to suggest that. She'd rather stay in class, then be kicked out. "It's a sopophorous bean." she said, looking at the on that was ones on the table she sat at. "And..." Though why they were used, she had no clue. Beans were a form of calcium right? Or at least, some of them. Maybe. Then again, they were used in that living death potion thing if she remembered correctly. "Maybe they make you relaxed." So, regrowing bones doesn't hurt as bad. She had noooooo clue. |

SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment Sopophorous beans...Kurumi had no idea outside of them being difficult to cut and being one of the ingredients in Draught of Living Death. What did a sleeping potion and bone regeneration potion have in common? Numbing? "Professor," Kurumi said with her hand raised. "Do the juices of the beans numb the bone regeneration process so it doesn't...hurt?" |
