Hecate burst into the classroom and began setting it up. Each table would seat four. This was going to be a fun class... for her anyway. She began making the antidote, and as she finished adding the last ingredient, she opened the door.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic! Sorry guys for not giving you lots of notice... lots of stuff happening with my Part Time job... and seeing as I'm still looking for a full time one I've got to work hard to keep the pt one. This class will stay open for a at least 3 days, and probably more.!
Amy took out her mortar and pestle and began to grind the yellow moonstone into a powder as soon as it was all ground up she sprinkled it into the cauldron as she stirred the goat milk. she hummed quietly as she wrote more notes down in her journal

Ingredients
1 gallon of goat's milk.
1 tsp of crushed Yellow Moonstone
2 lacewing flies
10 Shrivelfigs

5 drops Pomegranite juice
1 tsp bicorn horn, crushed
1 phoenix tear

Yellow moonstone helps with the de-aging by energizing the milk, and causing the regression in your DNA." She said crushing it. "Grind it to a powder and then sprinkle it in the cauldron as you stir."
Marie listened to Lafay as she explained where she got the phoenix tears. This did not make sense to her since she knew that phoenix never die. She was not about to argue this with Lafay though she would leave that to Raiden. Bedsides, who knew if what she had really was phoenix tears. For all they knew the tears could be from Lafay herself tears of joy she shed while thinking of ways to torture the students.
After gathering all her ingredients, except for the phoenix/Lafay tear she went back to her table and started to crush the yellow moonstone. Once it was in powder form she sprinkled it into the cauldron of goats milk while stirring the mixture.
She then updated her journal and occasionally glanced over at Evan who was sitting across from her while waiting for the next set of instructions.

Procedure: -Inspect and clean cauldron and work area
-Add 1 gallon of goat's milk
-Add crushed Yellow Moonstone, stir goats milk while doing this
Steps Taken:
-Cleaned cauldron and work area with "Scourgify"
-Added 1 gallon of goat's milk
-Gathered remaining ingredients (except for phoenix/Lafay tear)
-Used mortar and pestle to crush the yellow moonstone to a powder
-Added powdered moonstone to mixture while stirring.
-Updated journal

aww, Emmaleigh wanted to cry as Professor Lafay told the story of the phoenixes. She loved animals, and hated to hear about one dyeing. Buts she would not cry, no she wouldn't. She did not want to get fussed at for "contaminating" the potion. Apparently they were supposed to have the cauldron over the fire already, so she placed hers over it. She picked up her quill, and continued to write her notes, All the while listening to the slytherin prefect question Lafay again.

Method
Step 1: Clean Cauldron!
Step 2: Fill cauldron with goats milk. (closest animal milk to mother’s milk)
Step 3: Crush moonstone with mortar and pestle. When it is a powder, stir cauldron as it is sprinkled in. (Yellow Moonstone energises the milk, and causes regression)
Emmaleigh headed to the storeroom to gather the rest of the ingredients she would need, and then returned to her table. She moved her mortar and pestle and sat it right in front of her, and cast scourgify again. once she was convince that it was clean, she sat the moonstone in it, and began to crush it. Once it was turned into a fine powder, she slowly sprinkled it into the cauldron, as she stirred the milk.
Promise to be more active this class. Lefey can have fun tormenting Sidney.

Start by cleaning your cauldrons and filling them with goat's milk. Using your mortar and pestle, grind the Yellow Moonstone to a fine powder.
Sidney writes the ingredients down in her journal. She then takes her caudron over to the sink. Sidney washes it thoroughly and dries it. She goes to the potion closet and collects the ingredients she needs. Sidney then takes them and her cauldron over to her work station. She places her cauldron on its stand, builds but does not light the fire wood under it, arranges her potion ingredients, gets out her mortar and pestle, and grinds her moonstone. This should be an interesting class. I mean what can go wrong with a "De-Aging" Potion?

It was a sad story for sure, but as Professor Lafay pointed out, the phoenix's loss was potions gain. Not to mention what would crying over even a beautiful creature's death help, though the Slytherin prefect's continued questions did raise his curiosity.
Pushing the thoughts aside until after class, Simon set out his mortar and pestle and proceeded to crush the yellow moonstone. He worked at it until the consistancy of powder as suggested before taking hold of his spoon. Starting to stir the goats milk, the Gryffindor boy gradually added the powdered moonstone.

Narrowing her eyes, her gaze searched the room as if looking for a tiny 'O' in the middle of a million zeroes. Hmm, there he was. He was spotted!
And whyyyy was he sitting so far away?

She completely missed the story about the phoenixes and losing mice or whatever the Professor had said, but there were more important things at stake! Like the fact that she didn't want to be turned into a toddler FOREVER because purple head was too scared to sit next to them like it was ordered to do.
Well, now they knew why he didn't make it into Gryffindor.
Standing up, Evelyn gathered her ingredients a few at a time, bringing them back to her table and then going back for the others. Taking out her mortar and pestle, she quickly cast another "Scourgify" on them before starting to crush the yellow moonstone.
It may have been yellow, but it was Purple head's purple hair in her mind. As she crushed it, her eyes kept flickering over to that Ravenclaw. He was going to get them all into trouble if he didn't move over here...NOW. After a few minutes, the moonstone seemed to be powder enough, and with another quick cleaning charm to her stirrer, she gingerly sprinkled the powder in with the goat's milk as she stirred.
Brittany had been thrown off a bit at the professor story. It was kind of Creepy if you ased her. But ahh the show must go on. She cleaned her couldron Using the spell she had heard everyone else use. She didnt know many spells... she was just a first year. But it worked out all the same for her "Scourgify." She said pointing at the cauldron while amazed at how clean it had gotten. Hmmm this spell is definetly on the top of her list.
She then added the massive amount of goats milk to her cauldron. After she then began looking for what could possible be a Mortar and pestle. She really hadno idea. But glancing at the other students using tools that looked similar to the ones on her table she picked them up and began working on the moonstone. which was a little harder than she thought.

And wouldn't phoenix tears pretty much destroy the effects of the potion? They were meant to make your body work as it was supposed to. It healed and fixed things, and surely nothing you mixed them with could change that. De-aging wasn't in line with the entire idea of phoenix tears...

"The male Phoenix was sold and shipped to another country. And tell me Prefect, how often do you think this potion is made? No one wants to become their toddler self... if they do they will find it easier to use polyjuice potion and take a hair of a child. It is because of this ingredient, it isn't as frequently made as an aging potion which does not contain phoenix tears." She smiled at the boy.
"Now let's continue with the potion." she said and took two lacewing flies. "These are of the blue variety, because blue is the colour of youth." She added them to the potion. "Stir twice clockwise and five times counter clockwise." She said and demonstrated.
Every answer she gave him seemed to just lead to more questions.
"Begging your pardon, professor, but I don't think phoenixes can simply be bought and sold. They're known for being downright difficult, if not impossible, to domesticate in most situations... but when someone does manage to form a rapport with one, the phoenix is theirs for life. At least that's what's said when you study up on them as much as I've done. They form a bond with one person until that person's death, and then they disappear instead of searching for a new master." He paused. "My guess would be that the sold phoenix wouldn't have stayed sold for more than a few minutes. They're not stupid."
How often was it made? Raiden raised an eyebrow, clearly nonplussed. How was she a master in her field? Just how?
"More often than you'd think, I'd venture to guess. Considering a student made and slipped it to me when I was sixteen." He bit his lip again, clearly trying to decide if what he was thinking of saying was worth saying at all.
Apparently it was, because his mouth opened once more.
"Even if it's not commonly made... it still seems farfetched for this to be an ingredient. Seeing as I've spent most of my life almost dying in St. Mungos, and they couldn't manage to get ahold of a few drops to fix the rather small thing that almost killed me."
If it were used even rarely as a potions ingredient, then it should have been possible to get it to fix his heart. As a hospital hadn't even been able to procure it... this entire thing was dubious.
"I'm not trying to be disrespectful at all, Professor. In the end, I'm just wondering if this ingredient is even necessary in the potion, since it's been given to me before by someone who probably didn't have phoenix tears at their disposal. There are so many less frivolous ways to use what's quite possibly the most powerful magical substance known to Wizardkind than this..."
The entire time he spoke, through every word he gave in answer, his voice remained calm.

Adeline almost peeed her pants. She hated animals. She kept her laughing silent, not to disturb others. She followed the directions quite carefully into her so far perfect potion. Wow, it was actually not an epic failure! She beamed with delight in herself and thought to herself potions wasn't that bad after all.

Luna started to crush the yellow moonstone. A de-aging potion? That was so cool! It would definitely help when she was 29. We would be trying it? That would be a great experience since Luna didn't remember her toddler years. As she began to grind it into a powder she wondered if there was a potion for every single thing that every wizard ever wanted. That would be handy. Luna finally finished up grinding the yellow moonstone. "Is this okay Professor?" she asked, just making sure, in case she accidentally blew up the whole classroom.

Ah well that story made just a little more sense since phoenixs were known to be eternal creatures. Simon stopped his stirring momentarily once all the powder was in the potion to listen to the professor's instructions as she moved on with the lesson. He wasn't about to join in the challenging of phoenix tears and get on Lafay's bad side any more then he did for whispering.
Taking two of the blue lacewings, Simon proceeded to add them as well. The boy stirring twice clockiwise before switching to the other direction for five more stirs, careful not to do to much.

Tory was making a mess crushing the yellow moonstone, she soon realised. While stirring with her left hand and picking up the moonstone with the other she thought of a question. After she had added the lacewing flies and stirred (twice clockwise and five times counter clockwise) she raised her right hand which was now empty.
"Professor, How much does this potion change one? As in how many years will one get younger?" she asked.
Ha? How did she hear them whispering? This woman had some ears, had not she? Yet, Josh was not going to give up his idea about making her drink the de-ageing potion. He really wanted to see a younger Lafay so as she spoke, Josh simply smiled and said ''Yes, professor''. Okay then, he was not going to whisper again yet this did not mean that he would quit discussing the topic with his friends.
Therefore as the whole class discussed the ingredients to the potion, Josh took a piece of parchment and quill from his bag and started to write pretending that he was taking notes of the ingredients.

Then having an eye on the woman, he carefully passed the piece of parchment to his friends.
Viky frowned and slumped even further in her seat as the Proffessor heard tehm whispering and told them to shut up. Pffft, how did she even hear that, anyways? Did she have super-hearing? Hmmph. She looked down at her notebook and considered writing something, but then realised she'd have to have been paying attention to be able to do that. She had, however, heard the name of the potion - obviously - and some of the ingredients. She set about cleaning the cauldron and stuffs, and was about to go get the ingredients when a note landed on her desk.
A stupid yet complex question? She could do that. She was pretty sure ALL her questions in this class were going to be stupid questions, because she didn't get potions at all. Oh well. It worked as a distraction. But not now, of course. No one had made the potion yet.
She flicked the parchment back to Josh with a smirk. Ohh yeaahhh. Prank time coming up! She didn't have a question in mind yet, but she'd think of one soon. Definitely.

And noowww... lesson stuff. Because, unfortunately, she had to. Viky grabbed all her ingredients and went back to the clean desk, setting them all down. Right. Add stuff. More stuff. Stir. She could do that. She lit the flame under her cauldron and took the milk, pouring in a gallon. That was lot! Then she toook the moonstone stuff, crushing it vigourously with the mortar and pestle. Funn! Crushing stuff! Hehe. She sprinkled it into the cauldron, and then looked at the next ingredient.
FLIES? Ugh. She didn't want to touch flies! Gross! She pinched them between her thumb and forefinger, dropping them in quickly. Now... stir. Two clockwise and five counter clockwise. Two clockwise and five counter clockwise. Two clockwise and five counter clockwise.

After cleaning her potion with the scourgify spell, and adding the goats milk, she started crushing the moonstone. She grinded it for sometime, and finally it got to a powdery state. She added it to the mixture.

Pam entered the flies to the mixture. Stir, Stir. She thought as she stirred clockwise. She stopped and stired five times the other way. Stir, Stir, Stir, Stir, Stir. She stopped and awaited instructions.

Alice took note of what Professor Lafay did for the next step and wrote it down in her notebook as step two. Once she was done with that she took the two lacewing flies which she did feel slightly bad about killing and added them to the potion.
Using her spoon she stirred the potion twice, stopping once she had finished the second circle, then went counter clockwise five times. Alice removed her spoon, and waited for further instructions.

She supposed he made a point there. It was a shock to her also that she just heard he spent most of his life in St. Mungos? Evelyn had only been there once and tried to avoid it as much as she could for the rest of her life. She couldn't imagine practically living there.
However, the thought of how complex phoenix tears are to come across made her remember her Uncle and that one summer she spent with him. Did he go hunting for creatures that were practically extinct? He never really said...
Picking up the lacewing flies, the Slytherin added them into her cauldron before stirring twice clockwise, and five times counter-clockwise. One thing she hated about potions, was the specific stirring rules. How is stirring twice clockwise and five times counter clockwise going to make a difference!? And what if the lacewing flies were...GREEN variety hmm? Green, the color of awesomeness!
Probably would make someone like...SUPER toddler, or something.

1 Tsp bicorn horn, crushed.

Josh simply narrowed his eyes at Simon when he seemed to ignore his parchment and continue the potion work instead, listening to Lafay like a goody goody. Ha! Of course Josh was going to find a way to add him into what they were going to do to Lafay. He was going to participate too. Sooner or Later. But this could wait for now.
Taking his brass cauldron he put it on the desk before whispering ''Scourgify'' to clean it. Everybody was doing it so the Gryffindor boy followed. If he was going to make Lafay drink it, his potion had to be perfect, right? Right. So he was going to work on it well. So, as beginning he reached to the goat's milk and poured some... not into the cauldron...but in his mouth. Hmmm tasty. And as he drank more milk the parchment landed in front of him.

Lila picked up two blue lacewing flies. They were such a pretty color blue. She put them into the cauldron and stirred twice clockwise then five times counter clockwise.

Destiny was sure her cauldron was clean. She hadn't used it since the last Potion's class, so how would it even get dirty? Unless, of course, Evelyn was messing with her and poured some stuff into it to make it dirty. But he doubted her friend would do that.
Okay, no. She didn't doubt that, which was why she had her wand in her hand now.
A scourgify here, and a scourgify there, her cauldron was hopefully clean. She stuck her head inside to make sure and it looked good enough. After removing her head..which ALMOST got suck, she placed her cauldron back down and added the goats milk. She had no idea GOATS gave milk and she wondered if sheep gave milk, too. She'd have to investigate that during summer break. Hopefully the sheep didn't bit her.
Done with the milk, she stood from her seat to gather the ingredients and when she came back there was talk about how Lafay received Phoenix tears. Huuuuuh? That story was..sad. Very sad..so, choosing to block the story out, because the potion didn't mention anything about adding a pool of Destiny tears to the cauldron, she placed the yellow moonstone into her mortal and started to grind it using the pestal. The noise from the pestal was making it easier to block out the story.
After the moonstone was POWDERIZED, she sprinkled it inside her cauldron, and started to stir.
LALALALALALA!

Now let's continue with the potion.
Hearing that little bit, Destiny looked up to see the next step. Lacewing flies, ewww! At least this was keeping her mind off the SAD and TRAGIC Phoenix story, yes. Picking up both, she plopped them inside her cauldron before wiping off her stirring rod. With the rod cleaned, she started stirring..two clockwise, five counterclockwise.

Amy walked over to the pile of flies once Professor Lafay had finished speaking and picked up two of them, she then walked over to the cauldron and dropped them in, and picked up her stirer again stiring clockwise...

She then stood upright again and added some more to her book, dropping the quil when she was finished and waited for LaScary to say some more. She hoped, I mean the lesson wasn't brilliant but she hoped that no one would mess it up.

Method
-Clean out the cauldron and add goats milk
-Crush moonstone with P+M and when ground to dust add to cauldron
-Clean stirer and stir the milk and moonstone together
-Add Lacewing flies to potion and stir-twice clockwise, five times anti-clockwise

Grayson's attention had been drawn to the debate over phoenix tears, as it seemed had everyone else's. She didn't particularly see why Raiden had to be so difficult this lesson, especially as he always had been the safety person. The one who wanted everyone protected, blah blah . . . Either way, this was odd. And she was thankful for a moment they had yet to really get the next step of the potion. She needed to get her concentration back first. Especially as they weren't supposed to risk messing up their potions. Gaze flickering back to Professor Lafay as she continued the lesson, though, she had a moment of wondering if the tears actually were going to be tears. Just because the professor hadn't been as scary this term as last didn't mean there wasn't the possibility. But she could worry about that when the time came, and went and retrieved the rest of the necessary ingredients.
Then she pulled her mortar and pestle out, scourgifying it and generally taking the same steps she'd done with her cauldron before she put the yellow moonstone she'd collected inside. Then she set herself to grinding, humming quietly to herself as she watched the stone turn into powder. Once that was done, she measured out a teaspoon, then got her stirrer out and cleaned it well. No stone unturned. Slipping it into the milk, she picked up her measured moostone powder then sprinkled it with one hand while stirring. That took more concentration, although given she had a better time concentrating while brewing potions it wasn't as hard as she'd've thought. But then it seemed the next step was being given, and she looked up again before making a note in her ingredients list in her journal. Blue lacewing flies. Digging through her ingredients, she found two, then dropped them into her potion silently before adding more to her journal. Now time for more stirring.

4. Add two blue lacewing flies.
5. Stir twice clockwise and five times counter-clockwise.

Well, a phoenix being lost was not as sad to Em, but it still seemed a little cruel to sell the bird, and force it to leave its mate. Althought, it wasn't surprising that Lafay would have a friend that was so mean. Emmaleigh picked up her quill to write down the next step.

Method
Step 1: Clean Cauldron!
Step 2: Fill cauldron with goats milk. (closest animal milk to mother’s milk)
Step 3: Crush moonstone with mortar and pestle. When it is a powder, stir cauldron as it is sprinkled in. (Yellow Moonstone energizes the milk, and causes regression)
Step 4: add lacewing flies. Stir clockwise twice, and counter clockwise five times. (Blue, the colour of youth.)
Then she carefully sketched out a diagram to remind herself about which way was clockwise, and which was counter clockwise. She carefully picked up her two lacewing flies, and placed the in her cauldron. She made sure to follow her diagram as she stirred her potion in the correct manner.

What Raiden was saying made sense. Phoenixes couldn't simply be sold like a common magical pet. Even if it was to another country, they would find there way back to their original owner. As she listened, she scribbled down the next steps. Her friend was making a valid point, and there conversation was a nice background noise as she worked on her potion.
She wasn't even worried about the professor flipping out on them and doing something crazy. That was mainly because she was focused on her potion.
That was until Raiden said that. Her wide eyes flicked up from her ingredients to his backside. He had spent most of his life in St. Mungos......dying? What was, or had been wrong with him that he had spent so much time in the hospital dying?
A small frown laced her features as she added flies into her potion. This did explain why her friend was so intrigued by how the woman had acquired the phoenix tears. Her eyes flicked up at the prefect again as she stirred twice clockwise and five times counter clockwise.

Kurumi nearly chocked. The dragon lady had been married?! Is that why she was so scary now? Definitely not the time or place or person to ask about that. She shook these thoughts out of her head and returned to the task at hand. After cleaning her mortar and pestle, she began crushing her moonstones.

She really needed to get better at charms so she could just enchant it to do it itself. Crushing these stones down to a powder was going to take a while...
