Oh right, time to continue with the potion. Grasbing the two lacewig flies she dropped them in her cauldron. She then picked up her stirrer and made sureit was clean... before she used it again. She then stirred the potion two times clockwise and five times counter clockwise. After removing the stirrer and putting it back on her table she updated her journal once again... All the while listening to what was going on with Raiden and the professor. SPOILER!!: Marie's Journal |
*catches up* Cameron took out her mortar and pestle and crushed the moonstone to a fine powder before adding it to her cauldron. Picking out two lacewing flies she dropped them in too. Then carefully dipping in the stirrer, she stirred it in a clockwise direction twice and then in an anticlockwise direction five times. Then setting the stirrer on the table, she frowned as she heard Raiden and Professor Lafay's discussion but not wanting to get involved, she updated her notes. Lafay could be scarily intimidating. SPOILER!!: Cameron's notes |
Nathan picked up two blue lacewing flies and added them to his couldron. He then picked up his stirrer and stirred twice clockwise and five times counter clockwise. He then waited and listened for the next instructions to make the potion and Lafay's answer to Raiden's question. |
What? Goat milk? He had no idea a de-aging potion would have that. It was a good thing he was in Potions class, no? Nevertheless, the boy took his cauldron and with his wand cleaned it up, as clean as it could, even cleaner than the previous lesson. He was getting pretty good at this cleaning spells thanks to Lafay. Ingredients already with him, Treyen filled the cauldron with the milk, man, that was a whole lot of milk! Now, yellow moonstone. Aha. A tablespoon. He didn't have to crush too much of that, so he took the mortar and the pestle and crushed, crushed, crushed, until it had the powder look and feeling. It looked like powder, and so he took the tablespoon and added it to the milk. Stir, sprinkle, stir. Haha. This looked like fairy dust. Wait...blue was the color of youth? Treyen had always thought that blue was the color of knowledge. Hence, Ravenclaw. Blue. That didn't make sense at all. Either way, he wasn't going to argue with that, he just took the two lacewings flies and added them to the mix. The mix consisting on only the milk and the powdered yellow moonstone. 'Twas a mix, alright? Stirring. Clockwise, clockwise, counter clockwise, counter clockwise, counter clockwise, counter clockwise, counter clockwise. And now we wait. |
SPOILER!!: Renesmee's notes She added the directions to her parchment and placed it aside. Turning back tou her cauldron she added the two lacewing flies and add them to her cauldron. stirrer in hand and stirring two times clockwise and fivetimes counter clockwise. she turned back toher parachemntand wiat for the professor to give more insturctions. |

Satisfied with the results, he consulted the ingredient list again. Upon reaching the phoenix tear, he shuddered a bit. How terrible. Something so good and noble had been split up. He almost felt like shedding a tear himself. He resolved not to let his emotion show in his body language, since Lafay had already expressed consternation that people were focusing on the story instead of the potion. |
SPOILER!!: claims Grayson as Potions!Partner SPOILER!!: instructionsss Salander spotted Grayson sitting by the end of the table closer to where the potions ingredients were. He picked up his stuff and scooted next to her. "Yo Grayson!" he greeted then went to collect the rest of the ingredients as instructed. That done, he scourgified the mortar and pestle and began crushing a small sample of yellow moonstone, then sprinkled the measured amount as he stirred. He then added the lacewing flies, stirring the pot as instructed. SPOILER!!: Salander's Parchment SPOILER!!: Lafay and Raiden As Salander worked on his potion, he couldnt help but listen at the repartee between the Slytherin Head of House and their Prefect. His eyes flicked between them like watching a tennis match, and couldnt help but shrug. "If phoenix tears are so rare maybe we should just share a potion instead of each of us making one for ourselves." After all, in this day and age one has to learn to economize. |

She then looked at Raiden and leaned forward so only he could hear her, "If you wish to continue this... disruption, we can do so in detention. Though you will not be able to compete in task two. I suggest you let me continue my class." That was her only warning. Her good mood was now spoiled. Quote:

"Next step." She said and summonned the knotgrass. She layed it on a wooden board and took out her silver knife. "Lay it, tip side to your left and run your silver knife through it, sliding it from top to bottom, never re-cutting the same spot." She demonstrated. |

Glancing over at Josh momentarily, Simon could tell he wasn't paying full attention and was tempted to poke him but decided against it. If he had surprised his best friend, too many things could happen and not all of them good. "Josh..." he simply stated quietly before turning his attention back to Professor Lafay as she moved on. He paid full attention to her technique before taking his knife and doing his best to duplicate it. |

She awaited the next instructions. |
Of course. Of course she'd threaten him rather than answer his questions. Her cognitive dissonance was almost disturbing; Raiden was sure he'd learn more teaching himself than he would in this class. A flicker of annoyance flashed across his face and he went back to what he was doing. "Forgive me, Miss. I was under the impression that you had asked me a question." Which, you know, she had. He was a disruption? For merely asking questions? Right. How had he forgotten so soon what he'd told Sabel? It was better to not bother with Lafay at all, because her inability to grasp what people were saying to her was something that couldn't be fixed. Though he had a sneaking suspicion that she was a liar just as much as she was a psycho; if they hadn't been able to get phoenix tears for a real purpose, then her getting them so easily for such a frivolous, pointless reason was suspect. He watched his cauldron, his stomach squirming. This... this was going to be such a waste of something that could save someone's life. But do carry on. Please do. The prefect's eyes focused on the knotgrass in front of him, silver knife held in his fingers and expression impassable. Nobody would know from his face the venom that he was spitting in his mind at that moment. |
Patroclus listend to the on-going foray between Lafay and Raiden, and he could tell that Lafay was getting sick of the questions quickly. However was that not the role of a student to ask questions, to learn? One hundred percent on Raiden's side, Patroclus continued with his work, he dropped in the two blue lacewing flies, and stir the cauldron, twice Clock-wise, and then five times anti-clockwise. Listening to the next set of instructions, Patroclus could help but smile, he really like his silver balde, it was so shiny and cool. "Scourgify!" he muttered, before slicing the Knotgrass, from top to bottom, remaining focused so too not cut it wrong. He quickly updated his notes, whilst his grass sat perfectly sliced. SPOILER!!: Patroclus’ Parchment |

Emmaleigh paid super close attention, as Lafay instructed them on how to do the next bit. This step seemed extremely complicated, but she carefully followed the instructions, and then recorded the next step into her notes. Text Cut: Emmaleigh's notes |
Posting before dinner. :P Text Cut: Salander and ze professor As she was stirring, Grayson registered someone sliding over to the seat next to her, but she didn't immediately react. Instead, she finished counting her stirs in her head, a faint grin the only initial evidence she'd heard Salander. But once she'd finished, she turned to give him a quick grin. "Hey Salander." She hadn't even noticed he'd been at her table before now. Hazard of being so focused. On brewing, on not making Professor Lafay angry, on everything. But she didn't say much more than that, as part of her attention went back to the discussion between the professor and Raiden. If she wanted to actually think about it, she wondered if he'd gotten one too many hits in the head or something during the first task. As far as she was concerned, he wasn't acting like normal Raiden. Normal Raiden who'd been disappointed or not surprised at her appearance in DA when he'd caught Finn and Jimmy with fireworks. But she generally didn't think about Raiden that much, so beyond noticing the professor's mood was way down, she went back to the potion. As Professor Lafay had gone on to explain the next step. Time for the knotgrass, apparently, and use of her knife. Dragging some knotgrass over to her work area, she pulled her knife out and cast a quick Scourgify on it, as well as the surface she would be cutting the knotgrass on, before adding the steps to her journal. She definitely wasn't messing up when the professor was already irritated, not if she wanted to actually continue going to classes. She was learning more in class than she'd gotten from books last term, at least. And then she started cutting, trying to follow what the professor had demonstrated to the best of her ability. It was harder than it looked, even though she knew she was doing it correctly. She just hoped nobody startled her. Text Cut: potions journal |
WHAT?! Turning to stare behind her towards the Slytherin prefect and Lafay, Evelyn couldn't help but stare for the time being. And staaaare she did! She was not deaf. Obviously. The professor wouldn't dare! Give Raiden a detention, and he doesn't go on to the second task? Evelyn may have been starting to like Lafay as a Professor, but that was just not right. Raiden was a Slytherin, and a Hogwarts champion. Pffft. Should be helping him all that they can instead of threatening to disqualify him from the tournament. Feeling as though she was walking on thin ice, Lafay being angry, then happy, then moody again, Evelyn blinked for a moment before shaking her head and going back to her task. Picking up the silver knife, she cast a quick "Scourgify" on it and pulled the knotgrass closer. Eh, she had to remember that this wasn't cooking class. No chopping like crazy when irritated! |
Vienna was intrigued by the discussion going on between the prefect and her potions professor but she quickly switched off and concentrated on her potion grabbing a mortar and pestle she crushed up the moonstone and added it to the potion then grabbed 2 lacewing flies adding them also stirring clockwise twice and counter clockwise x5. Next step the knotgrass |
Lila put the knotgrass on the board and did as instructed. It was very difficult but she managed to do it correctly. She waited patiently for further instructions. |
She wouldn't dare give Raiden detention. She wasn't that thick. But she might give him detention, since she seemed to enjoy torturing her friends down there. The puff was glad her friend had ceased his discussion with the woman. Even though she did want to know about the phoenix, and how she came across the tears. The frown, however, still remained as she thought about being de-aged to a three or two year old. Sure they were good years, but that was with her loving family. Being a toddler in this classroom did not seem like they would be fun in any sense of the word. Picking up her knotgrass, she placed it on her wooden board. Laying it as she was instructed, she ran her knife through the knotgrass. |

Oh, and now she was whispering to Raiden. Dang it, why didn't Marie sit next to Raiden again? Oh right, because she was sitting with Evan. Pfft, now to continue with class. Marie looked at the list of ingreients when the professor said to slice the knotgrass. What about the Shrivelfigs, was she just going to skip right over them? Guess so since Lafay was slicing the knotgrass. Haha, Raiden had probably rattled her so much she coudln't remember what step she was on. Oh well, why bother mentioning this to the woman she would probably throw Marie in detention just for breathing. Laying out the knotgrass as shown she sliced it with her silver knife. Now what? Sit and wait some more. Merlin this class was moving slow today. SPOILER!!: Marie's Journal |
Brittany looked at the Professor wide eyed. Great she was already scary enough happy but she was even more scary mad. *sigh*. there was definetly no way she was going to mess up te potion now to get out of it she really auled her life. But she did catch Lafay say if they messed up with the phoneix tears they wouldnt be able to get anymore... hmmm. But on to other matters. She added the lacewig flies. Stir, Stir clockwise. Stir Stir Stir Stir Stir Counter clockwise *sigh*. Yep she really wasnt looking forward to this. She then moved on to slicing up the knotgrass carefully |
SPOILER!!: Professssssah Phoenix Yeah ya know, Fletcher thought, his eyebrows raising as Raiden seemed to be enjoying talking back to the professor, the Prefect had a point. As much as he disliked the Slytherin, he did have a point. A very good point. Lafay was obviously under the impression that her bottle of phoenix tears was real. Tsk tsk. Poor deluded woman. Fletcher shook his head and started crushing his moonstone into a very fine powder. She must have been confunded by whoever she bought them from.... er... whoever 'donated' them to her. Snort. His yellow moonstone now a fine powder, Fletcher stirred his cauldron with magic and slowly sprinkled the powder in, little by little. He continued stirring and waited for further directions, leaning forward jusssssst a little to see if he could hear what the professor was muttering toward Raiden. Hmm. Something about him not competing in the second task? Why THAT sounded brilliant to Fletcher! An evil smirk danced across Fletcher's face for a moment before he buried his head and pretended to be interested in his knotgrass. Heh. Heheheeh. If Raiden were unable to compete then Fletcher was almost CERTAIN to win the TWT. But back to the potions lesson. Snickering happily to himself, Fletcher laid his knotgrass the same way Lafay had and sliceddd it from left to right. Sliiiiiiice. He jotted the next two steps down on his parchment too. Quote:
