Hmm, what was with people and not wanting to use Phoenix Tears in the potion? Well, she understood WHY they wouldn’t want to, but she just…still didn’t understand. Maybe she lacked some emotion or something. Having glanced the another person that wouldn’t finish their potion, Evelyn frowned before looking to her hands folded on the table, jumping slightly when the professor continued on.

What…purpose does this potion have?

Obviously, it’d be… "So old people can be young again…?" Right? Like people in their fifties, and such. Like her parents! They always talked about wanting to be young again. 'The good ol' days' Pfft.

Weeird.

Hmm, Emmaleigh wasn't sure. this question had been running through her mind over and over again. At this point, she wasn't even sure if it really was de-aging potion, but she knew to keep those thoughts buried. She could guess at an answer, but she didn't want Lafay to yell at her if she was wrong. But then again, Lafay seemed to ignore most of her comments, so... she raised her hand. "Um, P-professor, Could this be a potion used for d-disguise? Like used by the, er," Great, she had forgotten the word. "wizard cops. They c-could be hiding in p-plain site with this s-stuff. Well, as long as t-they have an antidote.?" Or, you know, It could be the Muggle's fountain of youth.

Kurumi looked around and noticed that some students were refusing to add their phoenix tears to their potions. Had she done something wrong? She quickly flipped through her potions book to read up a little on phoenix tears.

Oh my Merlin!

The tears of a phoenix have immense healing powers. It is the only known cure for the basilisk venom. It is also capable of reviving a person from any injury, even if the person is at the brink of death, similar to unicorn blood (without the cursed side-effects)
She must have read that section of her potions book 10 times before it sunk in just how valuable these tears were...and why was the dragon lady trusting them to be able to correctly make a potion with them?! Wasn't that a little risky?

"Perhaps, this potion can help save someone's life? Like if they are seriously injured or had a terminal illness it can change their body back into a young and healthy state to prevent that bad stuff from ever happening?" Dragon Lady was scary and mean, but was she really that evil?

Arya didn't look at the woman when she spoke to her, just placed her quill down in exchange for her wand. All the work she had put into the potion, it was all for nothing. Sighing, she took her time vanishing her potion as students answered the question. She.....had no idea. The girl didn't want to be a toddler, and knew she would never use it in the future.

She did pay attention to the lesson though. No sense in only having half a potion written in her journal. Even if she never planned on using the potion.

Of course... leave it up to Flores to figure it out. "Very Good, Miss Flores." She said to the girl.

"It could... but that would be a waste of the potion..." She said but nodded. "Not only would you need the antidote to reverse the effects, but why wouldn't you use a polyjuice potion... though... in a pinch, if this was the only thing you had and needed to run unnoticed... yes, I suppose it could be."

And this girl had it as well. "Not... exactly... but yes. Think about someone so old he would soon die of old age... how much money would that person pay to relive his life... knowing what he knows now... The potion turns your body back and heals the normal signs of aging, and the effects of the de-aging... The only drawback is it can only be used once." She said and nodded.

Why was she sighing? The kids knew the potion was going to have a phoenix tear from the beginning... this was weird. She waved her wand and sent the potions in the box to a safe place. "The way you test this potion is blot a piece of paper with it... it'll turn it pink then burn through. That will be the correct potion. I will test each of your potions in private and see how they go."

She stood. "Homework!" she said and waited for silence. "If you were to re-live your life, knowing what you know now, tell me one thing you would do different. Worth 10 points and due a week from right now. Class Dismissed." She turned to the two boys with the leaches. "Just leave them, I'll have a house elf clean it up... but don't think this is over. Your heads of houses will be contacted."

...was there something wrong with this woman? Raiden's expression clearly expressed his disbelief at her answer for why this potion was useful.

Clearly, she thought it worked like the Philosopher's Stone or something. If that couldn't turn back time, and instead staved off death, then what made her think this potion could let someone live their life through a second time?

He himself had been de-aged before. He knew that the effects did wear off if left long enough. Why the hell would she lie to her class like this? One would expect a professor to come up with more intelligent words when misleading her students.

Without a word, but still clearly disgruntled and annoyed at the entire concept of the class, Raiden packed his things and headed for the door, though slowly, so Arya might hurry and catch up, maybe.

This would be his last time in this classroom. Definitely. Being here didn't benefit anyone. They were only given lies and taught to waste precious resources.

Roselyn 10-03-2010 05:54 AM

Hmm Pink. Such an ugly color.

Thanking Merlin that SHE didn’t have to test them on paper and stare at PINK all day, or night, long, the Slytherin took her time and thoroughly cleaned her station… smirking just the slightest at hearing Purple Head could stop picking up leeches.

Packing up her bag and notes, the Slytherin made sure not to step on any leeches, or…leech juice… and made her way around the tables, towards the door. Oh, oops. "Bye Professor." She said over her shoulder, taking a quick glance behind to Lafay before moving forward. She would have said ‘great lesson’ but…yea.

Probably wouldn’t be a good idea. Plus with her own thoughts about it, it just...didn't happen.

PatInTheHat 10-03-2010 06:16 AM

The lesson was over? But......she was glad that she didn't add the phoenix tear to her potion. It defiantly would have been a waste now that they weren't even gonna test them. And now most of her work station was clean so she didn't have to worry about cleaning out her cauldron. That was already done.

Already thinking about what she could do to fill her extra time, she packed up the rest of her things. A bit faster than Raiden as he had already started packing his things. Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she hopped out of the chair and followed her friend out of the classroom.

You should have a funnel in your potions kit. MAKE SURE IT IS CLEAN!" She said.

"Jarod, Crocker. Start picking up each leech one by one and place them in this jar. And be careful, they are hungry."

After finished adding the mixture of bicorn horn and phoenix tear into the cauldron and stirring her potion 12 times clockwise, she grabbed her silver knife and cleaned it. Freya returned to her seat. She copied the homework to her parchment and cleaned her work desk. She put back all her stuff back to her bag. "Thank you for the lesson, Professor. Good day, mam." she said before leaving the potion classroom.
