Selena smiled at Maddie and tallied her vote as well. She really didn't like the older Slytherin and was a bit grateful she was out of the room now.

Lawson turned and looked at the young Hufflepuff and a broad smile broke across his face. "Now you're thinking. And very appropriate."


"Thank you Violet" he said as he watched the Slytherin head out the door. Before turning his attention back to the students.

"Okay how about we start making a list of songs that you think would be appropriate for the theme. Emmy has already given us one good example. And when Violet gets back and lets us know what the theme for the food is, we can then sort out the order the music should be played."

Sammy thought hard what songs go with the theme seasons..... fireflies? not really but ohwell "how about for later in the night , when everyone is thre and has danced and everything already, Fireflies by Owl City?" she suggested

Selena wrote down the song choices so far.
Selena thought about it. "How about... Melt the Snow by Shayne Ward or Time After Time by Quietdrive?" Selena offered. She loved those two songs. "As for more... dance-y songs for the younger generation... how about... Forever by Chris Brown, Starstruck by Lady Gaga, or In My Head by Jason DeRulo?" Selena added. A few of her favorites.

Sammy thought hard ... A thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton? yeah why not she thought "how 'bout A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton" she suggested still thinking hard ... P!NK!!!!!! "or some P!NK songs?" she suggested, P!NK was her absolute favourate singer

Selena smiled and nodded and added the said songs to the list as well. C'mon people... suggest some songs!!

Maddie smiled, thinking of songs she used to paly all the time. It was a shame her iPod didn't work here.
'How about some Taylor Swift? Like, uh, Cold As You? Cold, for winter?' yeah, that was a bad suggestion. Oh well 'And some other songs by her. And how about Vanilla Twilight, Owl City? And... maybe some Rihanna? Or Paramore?' ok, time to shut up now.

Selena smiled. She absolutely loved Taylor Swift songs.... and Vanilla Twilight... and Paramore... and Rihanna and a whole lot of other people. She wrote it down as well.

"Oh, oh, oh, oh, can we pleeeeaase have 'Just Dance' by Lady Gaga? And how about 'I Got A Feeling' by Black-Eyed Peas?" she was really getting to enjoy this now...
"If we need another slightly calmer piece, how about 'Seasons of Love', or 'Islands in the Stream'? Or as a complete contrast, maybe 'Dancing in the Street' by Martha Reeves, or 'The Flower Duet' from Lakme?" Hopefully, they'll let us do more than just one ballroom piece... Ahh, I still need to find a date! Uh-oh...

Selena wrote down all those choices as well.



There sure was a lot of songs. She'd organize it by name later...

Violet walked back into the office. "Alright, Professor Dodson said that they were aiming for a buffet like set up, and that it will be more casual food." she said.

"How about songs by Justin Bieber. Like Baby for example. And One Time, One Less Lonely Girl. Oh! And Hey There Delilah by The Plain White T's!" Tori said. "Just a thought."

Selena had noticed that Violet was back. "Welcome back," she said politely. It actually pained her to say that. She then looked over at Tori. "That sounds good as well, but we need to start putting the songs in the order we want them to be played as well," Selena said.

"You guys are listing down songs? How about Break your heart by Taio Cruz?" she asked. She loved that song she related to it so much.

"Putting them in order is a good idea, but do we have a slow romantic song on the list? I haven't listened to all of those," Tori said.

Selena wrote down the offered song. She then scanned the list. "There are some ballroom songs," she said. But not really slow romantic. "How about 5 Steps of Love by Brian McNight and Happy People by R Kelly?" she offered as she wrote down the additional songs.

"welcome back" Sarah said smiling at the girl "both? Hmm? Sounds good to me we could even do some collaborations where me and my friend to the track and your mum sings. Does that sound good? Seasons? That sounds like a cool theme." Sarah added nodding and smiling

Sarah smiled at maddie but couldn't help but think that she did it just to annoy the other girl.

"oh, how about sober, so what, and please don't leave me? Those are all songs by p!nk" Sarah said leaving out the part that they were her favorites.

"oh definetly I love paramore and all those bands truthfully" Sarah added


"oh I love those songs!" Sarah added


"while you guys are adding all these songs and I know there are some romantic and some fast ones, but how about songs where friends can all dance in groups where it's a lot of upbeat and fast moving songs so that those that don't have dates or just want to dance with friends in a group or something then they can all have fun and so that everyone can have a chance to dance, you know? Oh and how about some songs by metro station and boys like girls and forever the sickest kids?" Sarah said hoping that people would like her ideas

They still weren't really getting anywhere and it was time to take some action. Lawson clapped his hands to get everyone's attention. "Okay this is what I suggest we do. Since the vote for a live band and a DJ is extremely close I say we go for both. So I need a couple of volunteers to source out the entertainment and send off an owl and these people here."

He placed his index finger to his lips while he thought about what else needs to be done. "Now for the song selection, how about a few of you pick an era each and pick the best songs from that era. Make sure that we have a wide selection of songs, ranging from rock, R & B, pop and love songs. And then we need some people to set up a stage area, I'll help with the lighting." He gave the students an expectant look. "Everyone okay with that?"

Kapoor had remained quiet throughout the meeting. So far, everyone had great input and he felt very lucky to be working with them all. He could see how a live band and a DJ could fit into the budget if they got creative with how they spent the money. And, actually, it looked like the committee called for a combination of both of those things.

Becca was THRILLED that Professor Lawson made the final decision to have both a DJ and live music. Then her hand shot up. "Professor, since we're interested in having a large array of music genres... how about some jazz stylings by the great Becca Parker on sax? You KNOW it'd be super awesome - you must've heard me over the years playing in the halls on random days - and the time I'd spend on stage is that much less money you'd spend on something or someone else. I'm all free."

...And just in case he shot her(so wrongfully) down, she also threw out, "And I'll definitely be willing to help set up a good, sturdy stage. For sure."

Heh.

"Actually... that gives me an idea, why not for entertainment, we can do something like a talent show in the beginning, then later on we can have the live band and DJ play," Selena offered.

"yeah that would be fun" Sammy agreed nodding her head

"yeah I think both would be great and since her mum has volunteered to sing and my muggle friend and I have volunteered to DJ that saves a lot of money. I also think that the stage would be great as I said before." Sarah replied smiling

Sarah smiled at kapoor and nodded chiming in with Sammy when she said 'that would be great' to selena's comment

"I can help with the set up" Sammy offered "I used to do the lighting and music for the talent shows at my muggle school" she said smiling a little but then realising she had said she is muggle born

"oooo...set up? I'm in my muggle friend needed help setting up the music system for her aunts wedding and I had helped with that and her dad was an electrician and usually drooned on and on about that, so I know some stuff about that as well." Sarah then turned to Sammy, "you're muggle born? Really? Cool, what school did you go to? Maybe I know someone there." Sarah asked smiling
