Sage sat timidly, stiff as a wooden board in his seat at the staff table. To say he was nervous was quite the understatement - way too nervous to even admire the Great Hall, and how different it looked from this new perspective. And to make things that little bit worse? He'd been sat slap bang in the middle of two females.
Who was in charge of seating arrangements around here?
Probably him. The new Herbology professor glanced to his right and took in the grand chair at the very center of the table.. something a little way past the Headmaster however, caught his attention.
It was strangely comforting to see a familiar face, even if Lexi Carlton WAS still sort of a stranger, and Sage hurriedly sent her a wave in response. Of course, having not been blessed with an ounce of co-ordination, this didn't bode well.
His neighbour just recieved a nice elbow nudge.
JP walked over to the table. He knew it was frowned upon but he felt compelled to go talk to some of the professors of the classes he was especially excited for. He walks up to the Herbology Professor. "Hello professor, I know i should be in my seat but i wanted to come introduce myself." JP felt his face getting hot already. "I am JP from Ravenclaw, First Year and I am Especially looking forward to Herbology class this term." Trying hard not to look directly into the professors eyes, JP looked from the professor to his feet constantly.

"How is Jadyn?" Her head titled to the side. "Learned to say 'Quidditch' yet?"
Constantine immediately leaned back as Miranda leaned forward. It wasn't disrespect and her breath didn't stink, she was just coming a leeeeeeettle too close for comfort.
"I'm not nervous," he said defensively. Why? Was he coming off as being nervous? He was Constantine Masterson! He was never nervous! "Awesome. The meaner I am, the more in line my hufflepuffs will be." Yeah, no.
"Jadyn is fine. And...no, she hasn't learned how to say 'Quidditch', but she has learned how to say 'Quak'. Over. And over.

"Oooh, you know how to say hi to them! Aw, yeah, you're making real progress, sport. Now, go raise one from the day it's born and then we'll talk," he teased jokingly.
He then checked his watch. "Yeah, I suppose it's time for the speech...meaning, Miss BelCanto, that you should go find your boy friend and enjoy the meal," he smiled nicely.

They were askin' if you were around. How you was, where you could be found....
Okay, since Drew hadn't showed up yet, and Annie was deeply bored alone at the tables, she stood up and decided to take a look around the Staff Table, since she heard there would be new professors, as well as changes. Lots of changes.
OH my dear. She thought.
So, just the minute she was about to arrive to the table, something slippy, like drool or something was on the floor. WHAT?...and that caused Annie to slightly, slowly and painfully land on her right leg. OUCH...o.O
She hoped not to ever, ever go to the Nurse's office after last term, when she had this constant trembling and fear to the nurse. From which she cured, of course, since the lady was a nice woman after all, and she didn't have to use nothing else than a Pepperup Potion to cure her cold.
"I'm okay..." She said, raising her hand and slowly getting up. After taking a long breath of relief, Annie quickly talked: "Good day, Professors, Headmaster..." She said, bowing her head a bit, and trying to hold the pain, because it was strong, "I'd like to introduce myself, to those who are new...my name is Anna Robles, you can call me Robles, Annie..." Babbling, it was happening again. Geez, she didn't learn yet about that extra talking. "And I'd like to give you all a warm welcome, on behalf of Ravenclaw, my house..." Although Satine had already done that, right? Right...
Annie looked around, and then at some of the tags there. Divination, Herbology...Geez, new professors. It was going to be hard to get used to them.

Preston quirked an eyebrow. The students? Heavens. He had been talking about the events of the previous term, but now Preston was singularly focused on what the man might have meant about the students. Were they unengaged? Unintelligent? RUDE?
"I dare say it wouldn't be Hogwarts without a spot of trouble," he said with a slight smirk. An understatement to be sure. "Though, I suppose if the rumors are true, it's been a bit more than a spot, as of late." Preston leaned back, a little more comfortably.
"Now, do tell what you meant about the students?"
Of course news of what had happened last term would have spread through the wizarding world like wildfire. Even if it hadn't, Marcus was pretty sure that the new staff would have been told.
"That is true" Marcus agreed with a nod of his head as he picked up his glass of water, "You must be very brave" he muttered before quickly taking a sip of his water and giving the man an innocent look over the rim of his glass.
Now Marcus could probably be extremely mean and tell Kingsley some horror stories but the guy seemed quite nice, albeit a little stiff.
"There not all bad in fact most of them are very good. But there are some...well...let's just say you will get to know their names real well."

Heh, not nervous. "If you say so, sir." She cocked an eyebrow at the dude. Eh. The meaner the better? "Um...yeah....no." That was...no. Her head slowly went from side to side. Scary masterson? A snort escaped her at the thought. Hahaaa.
Aw, she was happy to hear the baby was doing well. Blink."Really?" Miranda looked a bit worried that Jadyn was saying that word, as if she was sorry for having taught her that. But infact, she was sad the little girl couldn't say the word properly yet. "I'm sure she'll be able to say Quidditch in no time!" Nod nod.
"Well, sir, I'll leave you to your...FOOD." That was soon about to appear, probably. With a two fingered salute, she scooted over to the next

Professor.
"Hello, sir. Don't mean to disturb you, but I just wanted to say sorry for trying to kill you last term." Ah, there we go with the bluntess again. Meh. "Hope we get a calmer term this year..." she trailed off, a small akward smile on her lips. Like really, when had they ever had a calm term?
Whatever this Violet person was up to it seemed that neither of the addressed people approved. Which was why Nancy had decided she did not approve of it either, whatever Violet had said and/or done. Chewing on her lower lip slightly Nancy made her way up to the Staff Table, her blue eyes fixated on the little Slytherin girl and the people surrounding her. She hated getting involved but something told her it was her responsibility to do so...yes, sometimes it sucked being a Prefect.
Upon arriving at the Staff Table Nancy put on a small apologetic smile which she directed at one of the new professors (Professor Reynolds). "I'm sorry. Is she bothering you, Sir?" The 17 year old pointedly tilted her head into Violet's direction at this, a frown crossing her face. "I'm Nancy by the way. Nancy Hudonson. Slytherin Prefect." Well, duh, obviously, with the badge and all. Meh, why did she have to be responsible for this Violet-girl this term?!
The Great Hall. It looked almost exactly as Risu remembered it. Every ancient stone was still there, every dark table and bench appeared not even to have moved one centimetre in his absence. Of course, ageing was an irreversible process, whatever the Muggle advertisements said, but Risu had to admit, Hogwarts looked better for its age than he did. His dark hair, almost black originally, had acquired a fair few strands of grey, and he was only in his early forties!
The wooden chair with the high back creaked as he leaned back to stare at the ceiling, which did not show stone or lumber at all but the dark night sky. Ah, yes... That particular piece of magic had enchanted him even back when he was a student.
Asking himself vaguely whether the grey in his hair was the shade they called "distinguished" (and if he should Hogwarts about its brand of stone polish), Risu tore his eyes away from the sky ceiling and glanced along the table. The Headmaster, his elaborately furnished chair even bigger than Risu's, was seated in the middle. Quite a way away from Risu, in fact - his position at the table was far off to the left, almost at the end. He had not really spoken to anyone yet - even his contact with the headmaster had been mainly correspondence, so, naturally enough, Risu did not know the two women sitting on either side of him. The one to the left of him was deep in conversation, chatting animatedly with the person next to her, while the one to Risu's right was, he had noticed, mirroring him and quietly observing everyone and everything around her.
He drummed his fingers on the table indecisively. If he had understood correctly, a speech from the headmaster was the next step in the proceedings...?

Preston crossed his arms across his chest, careful not to awkwardly wrinkle his ruffles. It was a possibility that the man was a tad vain.
Pressing his lips together in thought, he nodded slightly. "Bravery, yes, well, I'm hoping for a relatively calm term myself. Keep the excitement in the classroom, yes?" Preston chuckled a little nervously. What had he gotten himself into.
"I understand what you mean about the students," he added after a moment, with a knowing smile. "Though, I suppose it's understandable, given their... surroundings." Preston raised his eyebrows sharply and quickly as he gave a slight nod.

Continuing his drumming and his gazing, Risu suddenly decided he was hungry. Breakfast had been a long time ago. True, he had felt very nauseous all day - unaccustomed to travelling via Portkey as he was, he had nearly left behind his breakfast in London (and then the temporary union of body and nutrients had very nearly been cut short after rematerialising at Hogwarts) - but now that his body felt more like a body again, instead of an inconveniently essential brain container, he was looking forward to the feast with some enthusiasm.
But judging from the freely wandering students, that might still be some time in the future. He was a little amused by the eager way in which the students climbed the dais to talk to their teachers. Of course, compared to Risu's two years at Hogwarts, his colleagues looked rather more friendly and approachable.
Maybe he should give it a try.
One of the students was wandering down the table in his direction, greeting every professor as she went. Risu listened with one ear as she came closer; so the girl was one of the prefects! Like the professors, he thought she appeared more like a competent human being than had the prefects of Risu's student days. He interrupted his drumming on the table to greet her. "Risu Antares. Astronomy. Nice to... meet you, Miss Griffin," Risu said with a nod and a smile.

Still amazed that she'd gotten back in touch with Iliana Morgan---or, Lawson now---after so many years, Lexi turned in her seat to face her old friend and new co-worker. Friend may have been stretching it a bit, though. Again, Lexi had only been a first year child when Iliana had been a seventh year adult. She hadn't even been aware that any of the seventh years had even paid much attention to her that year. She guessed they had after all, though.
"Oh, well congratulations on your marriage!" she said, even though she wasn't sure if the big day had been six months ago or six years ago...or longer. "I'm still just...Lexi Carlton." She smiled as if that fact didn't bother her, but deep down, sometimes she feared she'd never be a bride. At least Allie was still single, too. It'd be tragic to be the last twin to tie the knot!
What was she doing here? What did Iliana think she was doing here---frying chicken in the kitchens with the house elves? Ha! "Oh, I was just hired as the new Charms professor," she answered. "What is it that you teach...or do?" For all she knew, Iliana could be the librarian or healer or something like that. Lexi's eyebrows raised just a bit when Iliana asked about Allie. This Iliana had a really good memory! "Oh, Allie's doing really well for herself. She's the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic."

" Well Its very nice to meet you, I see you are talking to another Professor, I'll just make my way back to the Gryffindor table, I hope you enjoy your meal and I will see you in class!" he said while doing a little bow.
Making his way to the table, he noticed a younger Slytherin student making a fool out of herself. "Hmm, Some people just can't handle Hogwarts" he thought to him self.
Apparently, the DeVaice child was thrilled to have found out Lexi was a former Gryffindor. This made Lexi smile a little, too. At least he wasn't disappointed or anything like that. "Oh, great! Gryffindor had the Carlton woman of all people!"---now that would have been a horrible thing to hear! "Oh, sure, Mr. DeVaice. I'll try my best to make it to all the games," she replied. You know...if there wasn't a sale going on in Hogsmeade or something of that nature. "Good luck with try-outs, and it was nice meeting you, too!"

Children, children, everywhere---that's what was going on right now! Where was the speech? The food? Lexi stared at her empty glass---it needed a nice cup of juice or at least water in it. She frowned at it for a second before glancing back up at a Satine Farris, Ravenclaw Extraordinaire it seemed. A little house spirit never hurt anyone, now did it? "Well hello, Ms. Farris. I'm Professor Carlton, the new Charms professor," she replied. She was about to follow that statement with something directed to greeting the Ravenclaws, but just as she opened her mouth...
...she heard the sound of someone slipping and sliding somewhere nearby. She blinked once then opened her eyes wide when she saw a Ravenclaw girl sprawled out in front of the table. That couldn't have been good for self-confidence. The girl had spunk, though! Like a little jumping bean, she was back on her feet like a within seconds. Lexi gave her an understanding smile before introducing herself. "Hello, Ms. Robles. I'm Professor Carlton," she said. My, those Ravenclaws were on a roll with introductions, weren't they?
Oh, look! A Hufflepuff---and a prefect at that! Lexi grinned at the little badger, the lone Puff she'd had a chance to meet. "It's nice to meet you, Ms. Griffin," she said. Lexi wondered if she needed to say her name again, but she guessed the girl had probably heard it since she'd been standing only a foot or so away. "Thank you...to all three of you...for coming to say hello."
He didn't even sit at his own table for very long before finding his way up to the staff table with his hands in his pockets, positively RADIATING angst. Giving the table at large a glare for DARING to make change happen, the boy took a moment to count how many original teachers had remained.
And he wasn't happy.
Pretty much ignoring everyone else, Jake scrunched his nose to shift his glasses back up his face, before going to stand before Masterson, looking unamused, angsty and... oddly troubled. Glancing down at Truebridge with what seemed to be a thoughtful expression, and then at the guy who assisted him in Diagon Alley, Jake frowned slightly and stepped back, waiting to be addressed by someone. Like Masterson.

Nervous. That was really the only way one could describe how Josephina was feeling at this present moment. Sitting up straight, she gripped the table rather tightly between her thumbs and fingers as she watched the students enter the Great Hall. She was sure if she swallowed any amount of food or drink, then there was no way it would stay down. She was also sure that pretty blond woman and older gent that sat on either side of her would not appreciate her half digested food on them.
Finally, at what seemed like eternity, she tilted her head and glanced for the first time to her right (as there was only one woman sitting to her left) and noticed all the unfamiliarity. Except for a handful of faces she recognized - Lexi Carlton, who she found out in that travel agency she would be teaching in the Fall; the Headmaster, for obvious reasons - and even further down then that she could have SWORN she recognized her History of Magic teacher. Which meant, by MERLIN! Professor Lainey was still teaching?!?!
Oh... wait... Backtrack to next to the Headmaster . . . athletic looking blond fellow... though she wasn't personally an athlete, she still knew him. Maximus Vindictus was still here too after all those years!
Deep breath, Fina tried to tell herself, as she continue to hold tightly onto the table, quietly judging/interpreting the students and her new colleagues.
JP could not hold his excitement in any longer. He was finally going to be able to talk to the professor of the class he had dreamed about since he got his letter from Hogwarts. He knew it would be a little bit before he would actually be able to take the class but none the less he wanted to introduce himself to the professor. "Hello Professor" He said with a smile he gave up trying to hide. "My name is JP, and Arithmancy is the one class i can not wait to take" At once he felt like a dork but still smiled brightly at the professor.
He wanted to make sure to introduce himself to all, well most of the professors. The potions mistress didn't seem like she liked children and although potions was the one thing his mother talked to him the most about he felt that it was in his best interest not to get on her bad side before potions classes begun. He walked over to the Charms Professor and the DADA professor and looked both in the Eyes. "Hello professors. I am JP Santos. A ravenclaw. I am especially excited to take both of your classes and wanted to come and introduce myself before the actual classes began" JP Smiled at the professors waiting for a reply

OH! Someone had responded!
Turning her head in the direction of the voice, Sarah smiled again, this time at one of the new Professor's.Risu Antares? Unusual name, and Astronomy? Lovely! "It's nice to meet you too, Professor Antares." Should she offer to shake his hand? Errrrrr.... "I love Astonomy," TRUTHFULNESSSS "It was one of my favourite OWL's to take last term, so I look forward to your lessons, Sir," she nodded.
OMG, she sounded like a suck up, didn't she? Totally not the the impression she was trying to give.Mental kick. "Are you enjoying being here at Hogwarts, Sir?" Hmm, keep it casual, but nice.

"That's good," Nolan said with a smile. He'd hate to have to take points off of for something that they knew they shouldn't do. Taking points off in general was going to make him feel horrible. But alas, it was necessary.

Speaking of Hufflepuffs...
A rather angry looking one wandered up to the table and proceeded to stare at the man two seats down from him. When he stepped back, looking just as angry as before, Nolan decided to clear his throat and speak up.
"Excuse me? Do you need something?" he asked the kid. Why was he so...angry looking? He was in Hufflepuff! He shouldn't be angry!

Turning to the voice, Jake straightened his face out and, with a shrug of his shoulders, he replied; "Yeah."
Okay... maybe not the best response...
"I am."
...
The boy just stopped talking and stared at the man kind of vacantly, hands buried deep in his pockets.

Continuing her quiet observations, it didn't fail for her to notice that the older gent on her left was also rather quiet and the observer-type. That was when some girl started babbling on about introducing herself to those who were new. Something about Anna ... Annie .... and probably a Ravenclaw, since she welcomed them on behalf of that house.
Figures that; she always seemed to be surrounded with Ravenclaws. "Nice to meet you Ms Robles," Josephina finally spoke up, as though she had just reconnected with her voice again. "I'm Professor Hadley, your Arithmancy Professor this year." Assuming she took Arithmancy, considering that was technically an elective class.

Oh. The gentleman next to her was the Astronomy professor; well that would explain his observational personality. Knowing what she knew of Astronomers, he was probably lost in though about some black holes or something weird like that. She should introduce herself, officially. But first there were students dying for her attention.
Colleague introductions could wait, yes? Yes.

One of the Hufflepuff Prefects. Well that wasn't surprising; this girl did seem to have quite confident attitude. If it wasn't enough simply that she was confident enough to come up and introduce herself, as she recalled from meeting the other Puff prefect randomly on the streets in London not too long ago. Yes, Torin had been the definition of teacher's pet, if she could call him that.
"Thank you dear for the welcome," Fina said, as she heard not only the gent, Risu, speaking to her, but a woman as well. "Lovely to meet you, Ms Griffin. I'm Professor Hadley, the Arithmancy Professor." Funny that she had no idea she was sitting next to these student's previous Arithmancy professor.

While she got up from the floor, Annie had listen from Professor Carlton that she'd be the new Charms Professor. YAY. "Nice to meet you, Professor Carlton. I'm really looking forward to this year's classes, especially yours." Since Charms was one of her fortes, kinda. But anyways, this year was going to be thrillingly great, studious, and sure something special. OWLs were going to make this year special for her.
Annie shouldn't say anything back about that thank you, right? She just looked around and smiled at the other students that came around to introduce themselves. "We are in our need to meet our new professors give you a welcome, get to meet you..." Blabbling, again. When are you going to learn, really learn, Robles? Maybe never.

Professor Reynolds, Divination. Memory must start working. There were lots of new teachers. Eeep.
"Nice to meet you too, Professor Reynolds." She said, offering her hand (kind of tiptoeing to reach) for a shake, "Although, I have to confess I'm not so into Divination, BUT I will put my best effort into your lessons and homework." Because obviously, teachers gave homework, right?

Just as Professor Hadley mentioned she'd be teaching Arithmancy, Annie ALMOST blinked. "It's great to meet you too, Professor. I really hope you enjoy your first year as a professor here, as far as stadistics go and I've read, Arithmancy can be greatly intereRESting..." Gosh, what was that? Probably those were her nerves, making her think in both Spanish and English. She needed to calm down.

Feeling as though he would like to continue the converstation he hesitated. Maybe when i finally have her class. She will be able to teach me so much. "I am sure i will see you around Hogwarts!" And then someone else.
Deep down, Jake found some kind of satisfaction in that he was causing a tiny stir, even if somewhat minute.
"Huhh-hello," the boy replied, cursing the infernal stutter. It always made him sound scared. At the question, Jake looked to the woman sitting beside this one, blinked once, and then back at her again. "Nnnno, it is nuhh-not."
...
Though he was curious in regards to...
"What dddo you teach?"
Of course, the boy was careful to keep all emotion out of his voice, so as to stay as polite as he could.

That didn't make any sense at all. Nolan was...so confused. Now he was staring. He listened as he talked to a woman further down the table, and he noticed that the boy had a stutter. Awwww, poor kid. That couldn't be easy on him.
"Is there anything we can do for you?" he asked.

He chuckled. "That's ok. Many people feel that way," he explained. Divination, he felt, was one of those subjects where you either loved it, or you thought it was a complete waste of time. He wasn't there to start any arguments in his class over whether or not Seers were legitimate--he just wanted to teach them and hopefully change a few of their minds. "And I appreciate that. I look forward to teaching my first class," he said. He had...ideas. Yes. Ideas were good.

Ahh, a prefect! Nolan liked the prefects, even though he himself had only been one for a single term. And predictably, she was a Slytherin, and she was here for the troublemaker, whose name was apparently Violet. "We've already discussed with Violet the consequences of her actions," he explained, looking at that professor next to him who had told her about the detention. "And it's nice to meet you, Miss Hudson. I'm Professor Reynolds, Divination," he said with a smile.
Following the professor's glance towards whoever had apparently 'solved' the little conflict with Violet already Nancy found herself staring at Truebridge. A smile spread across her lips at the sight of the man. Of course. He had taken care of things. "Oh...okay, good. Good day, Professor Truebridge." The 17 year old greeted the professor before turning back to the new professor...the one who had probably been pestered by Violet. Meh...
Though, the way he said that they had already discussed the consequences did not sound too good either. Had she lost them points ALREADY?! "Erm...I don't want to sound too nosy or anything-" She gave a small a little nervous laugh at this. "-but what happened?" The actual question she wanted to ask was if Violet had got their house in trouble or not.
"Nice to meet you too, Professor Reynolds. Oh, and it's Hudonson." Nancy cracked a small smile before letting her eyes wander down the Staff Table, occasionally resting on a familiar and most of all on the new faces.

A little nervously fumbling around with the Prefect badge pinned to the front of her robes Nancy directed a little unsure smile at the new female professor. "Hello. I'm Nancy Hudonson." The badge probably made it quite obvious that she was a Prefect so she decided to skip this part this time...
Then after a short awkward pause she added, "Are you enjoying Hogwarts so far, Professor...?" She trailed off, waiting for her to fill in the gap...which she would hopefully do. Otherwise, well, THAT would be awkward.
