She was going to bend down and help Evelyn pick up the fallen fruit, but it seemed that punishment her friend received the summer before paid off. Evelyn was quick about cleaning and could give Destiny a run for her money. If Destiny had money that is. "I figured it was fruit, when it almost hit me." she said, which ultimately made her laugh again. It shouldn't have been that funny, but being tired makes you laugh at things. Stupid things, too. "Never mind. I think I will just stick with this." she said, holding up the half eaten waffle. Yes. It was indeed a waffle.
Hearing Evelyn mention plates, Destiny shoved the rest of said waffle into her mouth. Holding up both hands, she showed Evelyn that her hands were now empty, "I don't need a plate now."
She should've been angry at Destiny for making her have to throw away her breakfast, but really, she just couldn't be. Especially since she was to grossed out that her friend just shoved the rest of that waffle into her mouth.
*shudder*
"I can see that." she mumbled, placing her almost empty plate down on the table. Not near anything where people would mistake it as something to take though. However, just in case Destiny decided to get something else to eat, Evelyn not so sneakily scooted a plate towards her, just to get the point across. And perhaps a fork and knife too.
"Of course. Our best student dueller learned first by watching and covering theory. She also happens to be far more proficient in charms and transfigurations than she is with curses, hexes and jinxes. I very much encourage watching and you are free to use the duelling arena for observation whenever you wish." Truebridge answered, flicking his wand to levitate a pitcher of juice along the table, which promptly poured some of itself into his glass.
It was good to see some of the students eating, taking advantage of breakfast. Couldn't think straight without nourishment after all. Truebridge set the pitcher down and sipped at his juice quietly. That was the reason he didn't mind students bringing food into lessons... as long as they were willing to share of course.
He'd gotten all he needed - information and an introduction. That was pretty much all he'd been aiming for. "Well, thank you sir," Santi said with a slight bow, "I'll let you get on with your meal." Though he hadn't really stopped him, seeing as he was sipping his juice.
SPOILER!!: Raiden :D

Raiden quickly decided this as he joined his housemates at the table. He'd woken up so bothered that he hadn't even checked for anything in his bag for a snack before leaving the dorm. As soon as food had been mentioned, his stomach had erupted into rather insisent rumblyness. He vaguely wondered if his body had fallen back into the pattern of the previous year; he'd been hungry, starving half the time, then gone into bouts where he wasn't at all, for over two days at times.
Then again, it was possible that had been due to stress...
WHATEVER. It didn't matter right now. At present moment, he was going to have WAFFLES. And maybe an apple.
Or two.
Maybe.
Gathering a few waffles onto his plate, and covering them with sticky syrup, he mumbled something distinctly foreign-sounding under his breath before cutting into them and taking a bite.
YUM.
After having spoken with Professor Truebridge, Santi scanned the room for someone he recognized to finish his meal with. Finding Raiden stuffing his face with food, Santi sat beside him, "Hungry?" Santi then looked to the food taking some french toast and pancakes in moderate portions. He placed the napkin on his lap before picking up his utensils and resting his forearms on the table. Mmmmm, this looked good.

"Hmm?" Raiden looked up at the familiar voice, his chewing pausing as he found Santi sinking into a seat next to him. Swallowing, one hand touching his mouth to half-hide his grin, the prefect nodded.
"Starving. Feels like I haven't eaten in days, for some reason." Eyes flicked from Santi back to his plate before Raiden continued. "It... doesn't usually start off like this. Really. Usually we don't get in this much trouble right off the line..."
Hopefully it wouldn't put Santi off being a Slytherin. Really, they'd gotten a few bad apples, but... they'd shown they weren't all bad, right?

"Looking forward to class?"
Santi laughed softly when Raiden tried to defend their house. After swallowing he jested, "Does that mean it normally just takes a few days? Anyhow, this almost feels like a nice get together after the reprimands were done."
Ooh, fruit. He loved fruit. Natural, sweet, fully of energy. The variety was fantastic.
"I'm very much looking forward to classes. Charms and astronomy mostly, they're my favorites. Though I hate potions and history of magic, they're soooooo boring."
He'd gotten to know Raiden enough that he felt fine disclosing information to him where he normally would be more guarded on. Perhaps he was too paranoid, but he felt that information was power, even the small things revealed more than people thought. However, Raiden had grown on him quite quickly, he seemed to be a good guy who was unlikely to turn on him, well, at least for no reason.
"What do you know about the professors?" Alas, he could never get himself to vary from the thirst for information.

And a napkin...you know, juuuuust in case!
Perhaps Destiny should not have shoved the waffle in her mouth. No matter how hungry someone is, they should not scarf down food like there is no tomorrow. It is definitely not healthy.
As she waited for the waffle to make its way down her throat, heh, she saw Evelyn scoot a plate closer to her, and couldn't help the snort that came out. If her friend was trying to be sneaky about it, well, she had failed. It was quite obvious that the plate was not scooting on its own since Destiny could see Evelyn's hand moving it! Her friend was not spy material..not like herself. "I think I'm done eating now." she said looking up and down the table for something to drink.
Ooo! Was there chocolate milk on this big table somewhere!?

Iris nodded and smiled as she was awarded three points for her answer. It was better than nothing, "Thanks.. Welcome back to you, too, Sir." She said to him with a small smile, remembering that Truebridge wasn't here last year. The fourth year nodded in reply to Truebridge's comment about bravery, agreeing with him, and showing that she knew that. hehe.

"The next Slytherin I find causing trouble will lose every one of those points you gained as well as losing Hogsmeade privileges for the whole house for a month. I will not tolerate disrespect and none of you should tolerate it amongst your peers either. Think about it. When was the last time Slytherin won the house cup? The Quidditch cup? Even the Gobstones cup was wrested from Slytherin control by Ravenclaw last term. When was the last time Slytherin house worked together to achieve? Every point counts, every assignment, every smile, every bit of encouragement. You still have Quidditch, I'd like to see all of you in the stands cheering the team if you are not on the team yourself. I'll even come along myself."
And he really wasn't all that big of a fan.
"Eat your breakfast, students. Feel free to enjoy your morning and make yourselves comfortable here now. You can talk and chat as usual but keep in your mind that you and your housemates need to be united. Even the students who were punished need to be accepted and taught what it means to be Slytherin. Even those who chose not to show up this morning. Teach them."
Truebridge paused.
"After breakfast that is."
And it was almost like a mini feast. Pancakes, waffles, toast, cereal, sausages, beans; almost anything anyone might ever think of as a breakfast.
Ethan sat down and began to put food on a plate for himself, encouraging the students to do the same.
ooc: had to split the post... ran out of characters while quoting you guys haha
As Truebridge gave them their warning and threat, Iris listened to him, but found herself watching the House Elves whilst listening to him. She'd never seen one before. Hehe. They were cute.
Iris wasn't all that hungry, to be honest... Still; she wasn't sure if they were allowed to leave straight away. So instead, she went over to the table and poured herself some orange juice and and got a piece of toast.
Nod. Santi might've been joking, but that was usually the case. It took a few days and maybe a handful more people to lose the amount that had been lost. At least this time they'd been given the chance to earn them back without having to resort to homework.
History of Magic, BORING?! Surely Santi was jesting. Raiden stared at the boy for a moment before making a sound that seemed halfway between a snort and a cough, a grin tinging his lips once more.
"Professor Truebridge used to teach History of Magic. And Miss Professor Lainey's back this term, I doubt you'll find it boring. When they were teaching, it was always really fun."
And Potions... never had a dull moment here. Last term that had ended decidedly against him, however. Taking a quick sip of water, Raiden's eyes focused back on Santi.
"I don't know much of anything about the new potions professor, but if she's anything like the last one..." The prefect bit his bottom lip. "Well. There were potions explosions left and right, and I got stuck with cat ears for the better part of the second half of term. So boring isn't quite the word for it."
Information about the professors... Raiden started listing them in his head, trying to recall what he knew.
"Mrs. Professor Lawson and Mr. Professor Lawson are both really nice. Mr. Masterson's too, but he's not really a professor, I guess. Miss Professor Lainey was an auror, I think? She was here my first year, but then she and Miss Headmistress Rae left." Wow... there really weren't that many left from last term, was there. "Professor Vindictus is... he... well he's very nice but sometimes his classes are a bit funny. Piñatas and stuff, you know? And Professor Truebridge is..."
His favourite? That probably didn't explain that awful much.
"He's always very good to the students, and his classes are interesting."
Oh, that worked. Yes.
"Oh, and Headmaster Tate is alright too. He's only just come last year, but he managed to keep everyone from dying, so."
Overhearing Raiden, Lina muttered lightly. "I managed to keep anyone from dying, he told me to stop." That wasn't entirely true. Partially, though not entirely. By the time he'd told her to stop, most of the students were doing fine. But there were still those few... She wondered if Tibi would have been found in time if it hadn't been for her and Professor Lawson.

"Oh, and Headmaster Tate is alright too. He's only just come last year, but he managed to keep everyone from dying, so."
Apparently he was funny, though he didn't really understand why. He didn't think that any professor could make History of Magic interesting to him, but he would soon see. Raiden's information of the professor's wasn't hugely helpful, but at least he'd heard many of the names now with a tidbit of information.
At the explanation of the Headmaster Santi smiled. However, at the seriousness of Raiden made it slide from his lips. He wasn't joking? He decided to clarify, "What do you mean by 'he managed to keep everyone from dying?'" Puzzlement and a tingle of worry clouded his thoughts as he stopped moving completely.

It was a faint mutter, quiet, but still enough to reach his ears. Ears that had quite adjusted from the whole 'going from super hearing to regular hearing = deafness' thing. Glancing at Lina, he kinda half nodded. Headmaster Tate had played a big part in the fight, from what he understood. Not that he'd been... conscious to see for himself.
"There was kinda... a big fight here last term," he said to Santi, ceasing the poking at what was left on his plate with his fork and dropping the utensil. "A lot of students, and a few of the professors, got hurt, some of us to the point of hospitalisation... But nobody died. So all in all it went pretty well."
Except for the overwhelming stress and fear and the students getting cursed and Cela and he and at least a handful of the professors ending up in St. Mungos for a bit... but that was the minority in all of it, so overall everything had come out okay. Right?

Leilani went to get a few extra waffles for Coffee and tossed them inside her plastic bag along with some strawberries. Her cat was going to be ecstatic!! Which may or may not be a good thing. Hmmmmm???
Lina looked up at them, having caught Raiden's nod. "For the most part, things went pretty well. I was doing a lot of chasing and healing. I don't know if that's why we have so many new professors, though." She prodded a strawberry, sighing. She didn't know what she was going to do without Professor Kazimeriz.
Truebridge was certainly aware of the conversations going on around him, but he was certain his input was not needed or desired. As soon as he was done eating he stood up.
"You may take your time with your breakfast but I will leave you now." Truebridge eyed the Bloody Baron who was apparently content just to watch the children eat.
"Remember that every point you have earned today will be lost immediately if I catch any one of you, or any one of your house mates who did not show today, causing any trouble, being rude or breaking any rules. I suggest that you each be sure to visit the pride table in the common room and add your thoughts about what it means to be Slytherin, whether they are new thoughts, something you've always known, or something you learned today. There is a noticeboard there where you can pin up your contributions."
With that, Ethan nodded once more.
"I shall see you all in class." He left the arena and went to his office.
ooc: The "Being Slytherin..." thread here. I'll leave this thread open for you guys to RP in until the first lesson starts.

They both looked down heartened by what had happened last year, so Santi decided not to press them for more. Learning bit by bit was fine by him, he would combine what everyone commented instead of making one depressed or angry by pushing for more details.
He looked over at the nameless girl, "Anyhow, I'm Santi Xu. New this year... obviously." He said with a slight nod for a bow and a small flick of his hand. From what he could gather from her dress, she was not up to her eyes in money, and she was quite short, making Santi think that she was in a younger year.
Camille entered the dueling area and stayed in the side as their discussion was going on. covering her mouth as she yawned, trying to cover her sleepiness. cleaning her glasses, she was impressed about her housemate`s thoughts about what Prof. trubidge asked.Achoo!! she sneezed, looking at her back, she didn`t notice that she stayed at the part where it was a bit dusty. darnish, she thought. she waited for their discussion to end. but can`t help to coughbetween..and suddenly she felt a tightening in her chest...her asthma was attacking her again. she tried to to press her inhaler. but forgot to refill it last night, trying not to get attention she ran outside towards her room... no one could help her now, but herself.

Selena saw a girl run outside quickly and had chased after her, afraid that something had happened. "Are you alright?" Selena asked worriedly as she caught up to the girl, "you ran out there pretty quickly," Selena said.

Oh yeah, introductions. She smiled at him as she nodded. "Pleased to meet you. I'm Arline Materia... or just Lina. I'm a fifth year."
When professor Truebridge had left, Aileen waited till most of the students took the breakfast and then she went to take something. She eyed the food for a moment and then she took waffles and tea. Then she went to sit down and quietly started eating.
Oh yeah, introductions. She smiled at him as she nodded. "Pleased to meet you. I'm Arline Materia... or just Lina. I'm a fifth year."
Blink. After his momentary lapse of surprise that she was as old as him and two feet shorter he said with a smile, "I'm in fifth year too. I guess we'll be in classes together. And OWLs," he added as an after thought. "So, is there any class your looking forward to in particular?"
As a general rule she wasn't one for rule breaking. Bending, sure, but who didn't do that? So it came as a bit of a shock that she be required to attend this meeting because of other bad eggs. On the plus side, it definitely looked like their new Head of House was actually trying to bring them together into some kind of cohesive unit. 'Maybe this year we won't be as inclined to laziness.' She thought while taking a conservative look at those who had shown. 'Mixed bag.'
She was only having English Breakfast tea and a rasher of bacon. She couldn't eat very much in the mornings without feeling ill by midday.

Or, down her throat for that matter..."Do you, need something to drink?" she asked, gesturing to the pumpkin juice. Maybe there was water or something to around that would make it any easier...
Evelyn was confusing Destiny more than anything. Why was her friend so happy, and why was there a smile on her face? Did the sight of Destiny looking for something to drink amuse her? Or..did she have something on her face? She had told herself to walk around with a mirror, yet she always forget to place it in her pocket.
Wiping her mouth on her sleeve, since she had not noticed the napkin right in front of her, she nodded at Evelyn's question, "Yeah." Of course she would need a drink, she just shoved a waffle down her throat! You can not do that and expect it to go down easily. Not spotting any kind of chocolate milk on the table, she reached over to the pumpkin juice that Evelyn had pointed out and poured some for herself. Pumpkin juice will have to do she figured and taking a sip she noticed Truebridge leaving. He was leaving them in there? With the Bloody freakin' Baron? "Is this part of the punishment?" she whispered leaning in closer to Evelyn.
Taking off points wasn't enough? Now they were going to be tortured by a ghost. Great way to start the year, eh?

Woah. All that thinking on an empty stomach had been reh-heally hard work. Breakfast was certainly welcome when it came and Oliver piled high his plate with... just about everything that was on offer. Heh. Well a growing lad with so much excess energy needed fuel to keep going all day long.
He took a seat on the floor and took a large bite out of a slice of toast with butter and Marmite, -yummeh- immediately feeling better for the sustenance; then he focused on Truebridge and his no crap approach to dealing with this situation with the Snakes. Maan.. it was going to be a tough year this one. He watched the man go then looked over at the Bloody Baron. Surely it was torture for the ghost, knowing he'd never taste a bacon buttie ever again, to stand there and watch the kids sit and stuff their faces with yummy food. heh.

Leilani decided she was full and stood up to leave, her bag of waffles in hand. Yes, that stupid cat would be rejoicing. And she would be dictator of the kitty!!! Yessss!!!! ....... Erm, okay, mabey not but that cat would still owe her like, two days of shutting up. Oh yes, here comes nap time!
Following her little spurt of mind happiness, Lani decided she really ought to be going. Taking care of her plate and general food area (she was weird like that), she exited the room and headed for the dormitory.
