"Umm..." Selena thought, "I'm not really sure..." Selena admitted. "I guess somewhere between 8~10?" Selena guessed. |

Thinking through his opening and direction, Santi moved over to Professor Truebridge, "Excuse me, Professor Truebridge? I just wanted to say that I think you did a great job in disciplining us after the atrocious behavior last night," Santi smiled hoping to cap the compliment. He wasn't sure if flattery would work on this professor, but everyone was susceptible to some extent. He went on looking down a bit as if he was nervous and slightly apologetic after all, presentation was everything, "I would've spoken up, but I'm a transfer student and didn't really know what being a Slytherin means. Sorry. By the way, I'm Santi Xu," he ended with a smile, sticking out his hand in greeting. He'd made the mistake last night, his slight lapse in thinking, of forgetting to introduce himself forcing the other to ask his name. People often didn't realize how such a small thing could influence one's perception of another, but it did, whether they recognized it or not. And perception is everything. |
Evan smiled when he won points too. Luckily, there were still a plenty of sensible students that worked hard to win the house cup. And he yay'ed silently when there was food. He loved Truebridge! He was a person who made History of Magic fun, could one not love him? Quickly getting himself some pancake and waffle, he enjoyed his meal. This meeting was going better than he expected. They were on positive points now, although there was still a threat of losing it all, along with Hogsmeade. He took a mental note to see his job done in secret from now on. He wouldn't want to be the one to cost Slytherin he House Cup and Hogsmeade. |

Ethan turned his head slightly. Was this boy expecting... Ethan to be flattered? Touched? Something? "Of course. It is my job." He answered seriously, "Good to meet you Santi. where did you transfer from?" Ethan carefully shook the young man's hand. "I hope you'll come to learn what it means to be Slytherin. Indeed what it means to be of any house as it is important to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your opponents as well as your friends in all situations." |

Interesting, Santi thought. Professor Truebridge understood that knowledge of yourself as well as where people stood was important. But of course he would, being the DADA professor. If he didn't, he wouldn't be a very good one. |

He went back to his waffles, eating them quietly and in a strange order which he'd apparently assigned to each piece based on the angle it formed with the edge of the plate. "I've never been to Canada, must add the country to my list." He was a big traveller, tending to get itchy feet from being in one place too long. Working at Hogwarts he fought that off by going on expeditions during the summers. Truebridge offered a small smile, neither friendly nor particularly cheerful though it was meant to be encouraging and he was clearly making some sort of effort. |

Santi kept the interest in his voice, making the decision to ask about him instead of expand on himself... after all, knowledge was power. "Did you like training as an actor, sir?" He'd been undecided on the question he'd asked for the professor's expressionless mention of it may have indicated regret or embarrassment at the decision. He took the chance. |

"So I left." He didn't much mind that this boy, Santi, was being curious. It didn't hurt for him to know any of this and Ethan judged it probably made him more approachable or something. |

Santi noted that Truebridge was very good at guarding his conversation, he'd spoken but said little that was too revealing. All Santi had been able to gather is his affection for the theatre indicating his artsy side and how he even spoke of things such as though he was bored of the world. Perhaps a more important and direct route would provide better results. "Do you mind me asking sir what you intend to teach us this semester? I've been curious for a while now, not to mention itching to begin. I find the summer quite boring," he added in explanation to reveal that he's one who needed his mind to be stimulated to be happy. |
Chase nodded back Truebridge.SHe realized she was the only troublemaker in the room. Well than I'm sure brave. She took one glance at breakafast and wanted to skip it. She wasnot ungry.period. |

Lina fixed a plate for herself, picking out several bits of fruit and sweet things. Violet may not have liked them, but she certainly did. She listened as others talked and tried to think of what to say to Violet. Of all of them, she was afraid the girl might lose everything for them. After all, if the teacher meant what she thought he meant, all it would take is one of them. She would certainly have to speak to the other girl later... at least about not being directly disrespectful. |

Dillon's head snapped up. Points. He had actually earned points. What?! He didn't know if he should have his head examined for speaking up in class or if he should rush out to send him mum an owl. It wasn't that he was stupid. He was in fact almost a genius. His mind was just always moving too fast to slow down enough to actual care what was going on in a class. He settled for a smile which caused the crusted sugar on his lips to crack and fall down onto his robes. "Thanks professor." He didn't know the man's name a fact he WAS NOT going to voice seeing as how he was his head of house. Quote:
FRENCH TOAST!!!!!! He nearly jumped through the roof scrambling up and over to a chair. He plopped down and piled his plate with stacks of french toast. The Hogwarts houseelves were almost better cooks than his dad, and he loved that. He had enough sense to at least wait till his head of house started eating before he started. He bounced in his seat as he watched the man perform the most peculiar breakfast ritual he had ever seen. It actually made him stop bouncing and focus on one thing at a time. Hmmm interesting. Diggy liked interesting. The rumble in his stomach overtook his fascination and he grabbed some bacon and eggs and some whipped cream and syrup. He piled the whipped cream and the syrup on top of his french toast and the eggs and bacon on the sides. His eyes were alight with a frenzied hunger and soon he had whipped cream on his eye brows he was eating with such vigor. |

"And of course there will be further learning opportunities for those who join the Duelling club." Truebridge added, finishing his waffles aside from one piece which he left there in order to break up the roundness of the plate. He glanced around the arena, putting names to faces and trying to figure how many Slytherins had signed up to the Duelling club so far. His expectations were that it'd be mostly Ravenclaws as they tended to be the house most eager to take on extra learning opportunities. Maybe his Slytherins would prove him wrong? |

Care of Magical Creatures... that would be more to Santi's liking than DADA. DADA was okay, as one should always know how to defend oneself, but he loved animals and loved to learn about them just because it interested him. The ways in which creatures had learned to do the same thing in so many ways and how they've diverged to create such a wide variety of species. A duelling club though? It didn't really appeal to Santi, he was much more the watcher than the doer. He would like to watch as people dueled, inclined to learn that way rather than throw himself into the fray. Though he felt this way, he decided to tell the professor a slightly different story, "Could I come and watch the Duelling club first? I just want to see how it's done before I join in. I've never really dueled before," very much, he thought. He had gotten into a few small duels but never very extensive and mostly with the element of surprise. It was such a good tool. |

Finding a place to sit, Leilani and her plate took a seat. She took a mouthful of waffle/strawberries and wiped her mouth off. Coffee liked strawberries. And waffles. And waffle/strawberries. Mabey she'd bring him some. But did she gave her plastic bag?? ....... Yes. Yes she did. |

"Of course. Our best student dueller learned first by watching and covering theory. She also happens to be far more proficient in charms and transfigurations than she is with curses, hexes and jinxes. I very much encourage watching and you are free to use the duelling arena for observation whenever you wish." Truebridge answered, flicking his wand to levitate a pitcher of juice along the table, which promptly poured some of itself into his glass. Quote:

Aysel managed to grab some of the waffles, eggs, and pumpkin juice in anticipation of breakfast. Professor Truebridge was rather interesting. Aysel had never heard of a professor who would let his students actually eat during class. If she had tried that back in her primary school, she would have been in trouble immediately. |
EJ was impressed by what the older students had said about being Slytherin. He had a lot more to learn about being a student then what was taught. Being a first year he did find it more important to observe and learn then do without thinking. After the meeting he grab some french toast and juice for breakfast. |
=D Fooooooood! Happy Rai!Tummy. You know what the best thing in the world is? Food. FOOD. Food is the best thing in the world. Raiden quickly decided this as he joined his housemates at the table. He'd woken up so bothered that he hadn't even checked for anything in his bag for a snack before leaving the dorm. As soon as food had been mentioned, his stomach had erupted into rather insisent rumblyness. He vaguely wondered if his body had fallen back into the pattern of the previous year; he'd been hungry, starving half the time, then gone into bouts where he wasn't at all, for over two days at times. Then again, it was possible that had been due to stress... WHATEVER. It didn't matter right now. At present moment, he was going to have WAFFLES. And maybe an apple. Or two. Maybe. Gathering a few waffles onto his plate, and covering them with sticky syrup, he mumbled something distinctly foreign-sounding under his breath before cutting into them and taking a bite. YUM. |
Destiny TOTALLY knew the answer to the question Professor Truebridge asked. It was quite obvious that being Slytherin means being the most AWESOME one could be! And she would have said that too, except for a rather scary ghost had appeared, making it very difficult for her to talk. She stood there, open mouthed, just staring. She couldn't help her staring. She thought if she turned away for one second, The Bloody Baron would be on top of her like a gnome on a horklump! There was no way she would be eaten by a ghost. Not today. Still staring, she heard the Professor mention for them to go and eat, and She wanted it. Whatever it was. |

Finally feeling a little more satisfied that she had food in her stomach, and tired again, that feeling did not stay for too long when someone practically shrieked in her ear, making her jump a mile. In the process, all the food that was still on her plate went flying in all directions. Great. Just great. With narrowed eyes, she turned to whoever it was, not expecting anyone she knew, and she was both annoyed and pleasantly surprised to see Destiny standing there. "Hi to you too." she muttered, bending down to pick up the food that had dropped to the floor. At least she wasn't choking or anything. "It was fruit and toast." She wasn't hungry anymore anyways. Although, she was pretty certain she would have been able to eat that last strawberry and watermelon piece on her plate. Whatever though. Standing back up, Evelyn took a deep breathe and smiled. Smiling was goooooood! And she was getting used to it too! "It's right there if you want some." she said, pointing to the toast and fruit on the table. "And the plates...are there..." she said, noticing the lack of such in Destiny's hands. |

She was going to bend down and help Evelyn pick up the fallen fruit, but it seemed that punishment her friend received the summer before paid off. Evelyn was quick about cleaning and could give Destiny a run for her money. If Destiny had money that is. "I figured it was fruit, when it almost hit me." she said, which ultimately made her laugh again. It shouldn't have been that funny, but being tired makes you laugh at things. Stupid things, too. "Never mind. I think I will just stick with this." she said, holding up the half eaten waffle. Yes. It was indeed a waffle. Hearing Evelyn mention plates, Destiny shoved the rest of said waffle into her mouth. Holding up both hands, she showed Evelyn that her hands were now empty, "I don't need a plate now." |
