Looking down at the floor Josh turned back to the creatures since his bluffing did not work. So, he groaned lightly and was about to open his mouth to say something when the creatures went on insulting him. The boy closed his mouth and stared at the creatures as it he was going to strangle them. This was enough. He was unable to take it anymore.

''YOU ARE THE ONE WHO LOOK LIKE MOONCALF DUNG!! STUPID CREATURES! SHUT UP!'' he angrily stomped on the floor ''SHUT UP!!''

Well then.

Preston crossed his arms and observed the boy's outburst. He spoke evenly and calmly. "Come now, Mister Carter. They're just joking."

With a flick of his wrist, Preston opened the cage just enough for one of the Jarveys to slip out.

Free. Free. Free free free free. SHIRT.

The jarvey scampered up to the boy and pawed at the shirt. "Hideous. Bad taste. Troll. Clown troll." Sliding back down, he ran around between the boy's legs. "Ugly. Mooncalf. Bad student. Bad. Bad stupid bad."

The other jarveys, still in the cage, parroted the insults like a chorus.

'They are just joking' Joking. He knew this was no joke and he knew why it was happening to him. Breathing heavily he did nothing but glared at the Jarvery which pawed at him except exclaiming ''Don't touch me!'' Stupid thing.

Though he tried to control his anger, he realised that he was not going to be able to stand it anymore. He surely had anger issues and he did not want to do anything wrong before the eyes of the professor. So ''Okay'' he said facing the transfiguration professor ''I got it. I won't mock stu-Jake anymore. I won't. Just make these things shut their mouth up...please''

Preston walked over to the boy and scooped up the Jarvey, which proceeded to then call him feather-duster and mop-top.

Setting the creature back in the cage, Preston draped it with the cloth again. After a few moments of scurrying, the creatures settled and were quiet.

"Sit," Preston told the boy, gesturing to a the table which now had two chairs.

"Jarveys are capable of human speech, but not of human thought. They held no malice for you. Empty jests. Impulsive. How did it make you feel?"

Once the Jarvey was gone, Josh took a huge breath of relief then sighed loudly. Even the fact that the creatures was away from his sight made him feel calmer and happier. He had always been the one to humiliate people not the humiliated so being exposed to insults that much was not something he was used to.

Sighing again he walked towards the table and sat down on the empty chair. He was too ashamed to look at the man so he was looking everywhere except Professor Kingsley. ''I...felt...bad. Very bad. Humiliated. Angry and...sir i don't think i can describe it. You have seen it, have not you?''

Preston folded his hands and rested them on the table as he sat.

"Think about how much worse it would be if you knew that the person taunting you was trying to make you feel bad. Wanted you to be upset and angry. Selected insults that picked at your insecurities."

He paused.

"Now, imagine that every day, that Jarvey ran across your path. And you didn't know whether it was going to say something to you, or scratch at your leg, or simply just walk by."

Josh silently listened to the man still now looking at his feet. His feet with those clown stuff. As he thought over what the professor had said he tappen on the table absent mindedly. Seriously how would he feel if those Jarvey would humiliate him every day? What would he do? Probably punch it hard or hex it. Would this do any good to him? He did not know.

So, he took another deep and sad breath before he spoke ''I understand, professor. I was just enjoying myself. I did not know it felt that way. I mean no harm though. He meant he might hurt me with dark magic then things got serious. I am sorry though, i am not scared of any dark magic, or any killing curse''

Preston pursed his lips as he watched the boy. Did he really get it?

"I want you to think about this detention every time you think it might be fun to taunt someone. Remember how terrible it feels and that it does harm people. Because then, if you still do it, it makes you a bully. A mean, unlikeable bully. And I don't think that's the kind of person you want to be, Mister Carter."

He paused, looking stern. "And I want to hear no more of this ridiculousness about Mister Upstead and Dark Magic. If I so much as hear a whisper of a rumor about what he said to you, you will find yourself back in detention with me, do you understand? You forced him to attempt to defend himself. Don't tell me you didn't think about hexing those Jarveys for what they said."

Flicking his wand, Preston summoned parchment, quill and ink, and set them before the boy. "You will write an apology letter to Mister Upstead. And if there are others to whom you should apologize for your behavior, to them as well. Your taunting, and punching, of Mister Upstead may be what got you into detention, but I do not tolerate that sort of behavior toward any student."

This time the boy looked up at the professor's face since he admitted everything he could admit, he had nothing to be ashamed of. He quickly nodded at the professor's words. He was not a bad person and he did not want to be known as a bad student like the Jarverys had said. He remained silent but his brain was working hard. He was supposed to tell no one? But he was dying to tell everything to his Slytherin friends Evelyn and Destiny, to protect them to tell them to stay away from Jake. He wanted to protect...

hmph. He stopped thinking over this when the man mentioned writing an apology letter. Apology letter to Jake. Seriously? Looking at Kingsley's eyes he could see he was serious. Well it was ok, no one was going to know it. ''Okay, sir'' he responded and started writing

''Is that okay, professor?''

"No," he said simply, having reviewed the letter.

"There is nothing in this letter to make me believe you are truly sorry for hwat you did. It should be longer."

Groaning inside Josh took the quill and the parcment back and continued writing...

After writing the last word he put a dot and showed the parcment to the professor ''Is this one ok, sir?''

Preston took the parchment and after casting on it to keep it from smearing, folded it and tucked it into his robes.

"It will suffice," he said simply. "Remember this detention, Mister Carter. In fact, if you think there are others who need to know how terrible it feels, tell them about what you had to do here. I do not tolerate bullies, Mister Carter."

He narrowed his eyes at the boy. "Do not make me have to deal with you on this matter again."

Pushing away from the table, he strode over to the door. "Get changed, Mister Carter. And then bang on the door when you are done."

With that, he stepped outside.

''Yes, sir. I got it''Josh replied back feeling grateful that he needed not to write another letter. He did not know what would Jake think when he read the letter yet he did not care anyway. All he wanted to do was to get rid of this place and see Evelyn.

As Professor Kingsley walked out the door, the boy's dark eyes followed him till he was out of sight and once he was out the Gryffindor moved to grab his school uniform. Then after a couple of minutes he got rid of the annoying clown clothes. So, he walked to the door and knocked on it.

Opening the door, Preston nodded at the boy.

"You may go. But remember, Mister Carter. Any mistreatment of any student and you will have to answer to me."

He stepped aside. "Dismissed."

Legend was noot happpy. As the Professor opened the door he inched himself into the room slowly, and of course even that wasn't by choice. Sure he had gotten detention in his old muggle school plenty of times but this was different than just writing lines of "I will not be bad". He knew it.

Crossing his arms so he was able to hold his injured one up the fourth year stood dumbstruck near the door.

This place was disgusting. The walls were covered in slim...or muck...or some equally disgusting thing. Legend's head quickly whipped around as he saw something moving in the corner. Was that a rat?? He could have SWORN he saw a rat. "How long do we have to be in here Professor...." What was her name again? Gah that didn't matter. Her name was like Professor stupid lady who gave him a detention.

Czes frowned BIGTIME as they entered the dungeon. The place was absolutely disgusting and he didn't have his wand. PLUS he was still in the same vicinity as Legend. Terrible situation.

Crossing his arms, he eyed the Professor and considered her for a moment.

"Let's get this over with."

PLEASE.

Content that both detentionees had handed over their wands without complaint, she stashed the safely away, and crossed her arms waiting for the boys to file in. But then the first words out of their mouths were horrible! 'how long do we have to be here...' and 'let's get this over with'.

"This? And what do you presume this detention to be?" Hadley asked, narrowing her eyes at them. "As in, why do you think you are here?" Surely they didn't think it was just some fun and games . . .

What did they presume it to be? It was obviously detention, that was a stupid question. Legend shuffled his feet in attempt not to voice his opinion. He just wanted to get out of this disgusting place and the crazy lady didn't even answer his question! "We are in here because we were fighting." Legend answered dully. "Basically because someone decided to start a fight and I decided to try and end it." Yeah, yeah and EVERYONE in the room knew who that SOMEONE was. And if it wasn't that obvious. He was the tallest one in the room.

The expression on the blond boy's face was priceless; clearly he thought he was merely an innocent victim in the fight. Which perhaps he was, but he also provoked the fight by carrying on like he did. "Precisely, Mr Chosen." Josephina said, rather nonchalantly, clasping her hands together. "But the point of someone starting the fight may be rightly true; however, a fight wouldn't be a fight if the victim didn't retaliate."

Tapping her foot slowly in thought, she contemplated for a moment about their detention. Heaving a sigh, she flicked her wand to force the boys against the slimy wall. More specifically, at the top of the wall. "I want you two boys to take the time during this detention to get to know one another. Learn to respect each other and your differences. Compliment each other. You do this, and you should find yourself free in no time, but if you don't . . . then who knows..." With a shifty look in her eyes, she took a seat on the chair in the middle and waited.

HA! He was right of course! Legend grinned but his grin faded as she basically told him that he was as much to blame as the idiot over there. That wasn't fair! He had gotten the question right! He should of been allowed to leave! "Yeah but-" And SUDDENLY he was up agaisnt the DISGUSTING, GROSS slimy wall, WAY up against it.

OMGOMG The slim was TOUCHING HIM EWWW. He wasn't a germ freak but this was just gross...it even SMELT bad.

Compliment the idiot? Was this Professor mental? Alright. Legend nodded. He would do it. But that didn't mean that he would MEAN it. "Czes...you...are really tall." Was that a compliment? Ehh.... "And it's such a good thing, you must be able to get cookie jar from the top shelf." THERE that was a compliement...

Sorta.......and he didn't even mean it!

And Czes was against the wall... this was disgusting. He felt slime running down his face as he cursed under his breathe? Compliment this little brute? NO way.

He eyed the Professor and sighed.

Then laughed in Legends face as he complimented him. "You're too kind," his sarcasm was scarce but definitely there. "You know Legend, Gryffindors are just awesome. That means you are too." He winked at the kid sarcastically with the eye not facing Hadley.

This. Guy. Was. So OBNOXIOUS. Legend couldn't stand it. Gritting his teeth together as he saw the wink the Gryffindor knew that he had to at least TRY to play nice. That was the point. "Thanks." How the heck was he gonna compliment this idiot. "You know what even through Dragons can't be domesticated, since you know so much about them, I think you'd be a person to actually accomplish that." What did they say about liars? Oh yeah liar, liar pants on fire. His pants must have been pretty hot cause he was seriously lying through his teeth.

Green-smelly-gooey slime washed over Legend's face.

Hadley shook her head at the Gryffindor boy; clearly he was about to find out there was no cheating your way out of detention.

A splash of green-gooey-ICKY!Slime just went up Czes' nose.

And then more slime seeped into the Gryffindor's clothing, seemingly forever embedding its AWFUL stench into the boy's attire


"Boys, boys," Hadley said, shaking her head at them. "Why don't you two start with just learning things about each other? Because it seems, judging from the AWFUL stench you two are bearing, you can't seem to keep the sarcasm from your tones." This was gonna be one LONG detention, it seemed.

There was SIMPLY NO words for what this was. Legend could do nothing to stop the gross green stuff from the walls from covering him. First his face and then his clothes! And if he thought this stuff smelt bad it tasted even worse. Like sweaty gym socks. "Professor, I know enough about this....GUY." Legend said unable to control the anger in his voice. This was not normal it was torture. "His name is Czes....which is short for...something like....Czesmaw..or craw...Czesdraw? Something along those lines, and he's from a place that starts with a A that has dragons." Legend shook his head to try to avoid allowing any more slim into his mouth. "And...and hes a Hufflepuff who is like in 5th year! And he is really good at throwing snowballs! SEE!" Ha. At least the snowball compliment he meant. That was good enough right?

Nodding as the Gryffindor proceeded to claim he knew about this guy. Calling him a guy was a start too, considering it was what he was; and naturally there were worse things he could have been called. "Mmhm," she nodded, gauging his honesty. Actually, this - when he was talking to her - seemed the most honest she'd seen of him. That last comment... compliment ... very genuine ... and as a result, he slid down the wall about six inches.

"Good! You're doing good with the niceties. That's what I like to see!" she encouraged him to go on.
