"I think so too." Cela did. But then, she thought pretty much everything she did was great, which wasn't an attitude that had changed at all over the past seven years. She was very matter of fact about it though.
"Sure thing." She picked up a fork. "This one is a transfiguration spell." She held her wand with the other hand, looped the tip of it in a figure eight and then tapped the fork, stating quite clearly, "Paraplyo." The fork twitched and then expanded into a closed umbrella, standard sized.
"It took me a long time to work out how to make the umbrella change in size as it transformed from the starting object, but I changed the wand movement and the inflection in the incantation and it worked. You can use any sort of long item. Like a quill or a spoon or a stick. I used to use flowers because it was the easiest since the petals turned into the waterproof part of the umbrella, this bit that opens." She wouldn't open it indoors though. No bad luck for her.
"I used to have to enlarge the flower first though, but this way is easier still."
She handed Kellen the umbrella quite solemnly. "I haven't worked out how to specify what the umbrella will look like yet. I think it might just be intent based though. Sometimes I've managed to get them to be patterned. This one was a simple ravie blue.
"I've been working on it since my fourth year." She added with a smile. "Thats the sort of thing you wanted to see?"
"Paraplyo..." Kellen took the umbrella from her, doing his best to memorize the wand motion. Figure eight, didn't seem too hard to commit to memory. "This is totally the kind of thing. I'm always up for learning new charms and transfig spells."
Truth. Charms and Transfiguration just seemed to click with him, and the more he could learn, the better. It made up for being quite inadequate in a duel, at least in his mind.

"Me too. I always got extra tuition, either from older students or from professors. And always learned above my year wherever I could. You can practice this one as much as you like, the only thing is that you change the tap depending if you want the umbrella to be open or closed. If you want it to open, you tap twice after the figure eight." Celandine explained and sipped her drink again.
"And I used to spend a lot of time in the duelling arena. You know I'm the best in the school right? Even ask Professor Truebridge. Professor Lawson helped me with non-verbals a few years back and I've learned so much from Professor Kazimeriz too of course. The Duelling Arena is the secret to all spell work, that and theory of course."

It made sense to ask older students what they knew, and he made a note to do so more in future... if he could get over his stubborn pride, that was. More than once he'd declined help in favour of figuring it out, and while he usually arrived at the right answer, it wasn't particularly constructive in making friends and tended to take up time he could have used on other things. Definitely something to work on.
Urgh, but what was this about dueling? Sounded more like an opinion to him, "Yeah, I remember you threatening to drag me to the Dueling Club if I didn't sign up myself, but I'm really not that into dueling. It's just never appealed to me. Have you never thought of being an Auror or something like that? If you're so good at dueling, you shouldn't let a talent like that go unused."

Brody didn't see anyone he knew. Frown. Where were people he knew? Liiiiiiike Ella...buuuuut she was in Gryffindor, so sadly she was not there. Aaaand Annabelle and Josey were in Hufflepuff so they were not there wither. How saw. Hmm, how about Maddie. Where was she? Brody got distracted t the food. FOOOOOOOOOD! Yummm. He picked up a chicken wing and promptly took a bit. Yummmm.

Celandine laughed. "An auror? Me?" That would be awkward considering her family were dark wizards and all. "No way. See the reason I'm good at it is because I'm totally creative and stuff. Transfiguration and Charms are my best subjects, and I always worked to apply those sorts of spells in a duelling situation and because its unexpected, thats usually why I win." She explained.
"I used to make lists of charms and try to figure out how they could be used in a duel. Like Glisseo is my favourite, you can use that to make your opponent slip over or even lose their grip on their wand. Or you can turn their shoes into stone, make their toenails grow - thats really effective. Painful but effective. You can transfigure their clothes, either to make them heavy or make them restrictive... theres a lot of possibilities and you don't have to bother with the negative intent thing required of jinxes and curses and you get the element of surprise working for you too. Its not about the duelling so much as about the magic."

Mina slowly made her way toward her house table. It was again the end of the term and it was nearly time for them to all come home. Another year had come to an end and they were all on their way home for the summer. She didn't want to go, just like other terms, she wanted to stay at Hogwarts forever.
Setting down, she looked toward the Slytherin table. Where was Evan at? She had wanted to see him before getting on the train. It wasn't like they were really going to be saying goodbye, more like a see you later. They did still have plans to see each other over break and all.
That was the thought that was into Annie's mind, trying to get it invaded and make her think less of how sad the last day of school could be. Lots of her friends would be gone by next term, all in their ways to make a happy life of their own and bring their lives together.
But she couldn't hide it. There was this sadness in her eyes she was not going to deny. Though, she had to be strong. This was the last day, and in a few weeks...she'd be a sixth year. EEep.

Not to mention Demarcus and his cat babbling. And she'd managed to meet a lot of new people. It was sad that some of her favorites were leaving now, though. She didn't even know if Raven had found out about the pumpkin juice incident, and how she'd talked herself out of trouble. She was really going to miss her own personal Hagrid, too. Maybe next term she'd have to go about things differently.
Walking into the Great Hall, her ubiquitous raspberry Converse not even cheering her up enough to bounce like she usually did, she glanced around at everyone at the tables. She needed to talk to people, but then she was distracted by the little white furry head poking out of her pocket. "I know, Draco. Back home soon," she said quietly, with little inflection. The thought of having to see her brother again was depressing, but at least she had some new potions she could try out on him. If she didn't use them beforehand. She didn't plan to, and headed for the Ravenclaw table. She'd start out there, but she figured she'd need to wander after a while. To talk to at least Raven and Torin, if not everyone else she considered a friend. But first, as she sat down, she glanced at the pitchers of water. They were most likely safe, but she couldn't say what Professor Vindictus might have done. After the ball, she wasn't about to underestimate him one bit.
Torin had told himself that he wouldn't leave his House table during the feast, but he found himself breaking that promise. For he needed to get away from all that madness at least for a little while. Maybe getting out from here and going on a walk or something would help him feel less sad.
Though as he glanced at the Ravenclaw table, he saw a familiar face and decided that he really ought to go over to Grayson and say goodbye to her. Because she was amazing like that.
Going over and taking a seat beside her, he smiled. "I'm gonna miss you, Shorty. You know that?" Because she was cute and awesome.

Grayson was still contemplating the beverage selection spread out on the table. She hadn't taken any yet, as she hadn't quite decided if it was safe, but then, others around her had drank stuff and didn't seem to be having issues. So maybe it was okay, and it wasn't like she didn't think she could figure out something to negate any potions anyway. It would just take time, and since it was the end of term feast, she wasn't sure if she'd have the time. The train wasn't really a good place to brew potions.
In any case, she'd stopped paying attention to what was going on around her, and only became aware that someone had sat next to her by Draco making a little ferret noise from her pocket. Glancing over, shortly before he spoke, her expression brightened slightly as she saw Torin and a tiny grin crept onto her face. "Of course you will. Who else considers you their own version of Hagrid?," she teased. "And besides, we know I'm awesome." She stopped her teasing, though, after that. "I'm gonna miss you too. Hogwarts won't be the same next term." He was leaving, Raven was leaving, if she'd heard right, half the really cool professors were leaving . . . She was seriously going to have to rethink all her pranks, especially since she'd have new professors to get past. She wasn't too worried about those who were still around.

Hmmph. There was absolutely no-one Maddie kn- ooh, Brody! 'Heeeeey, Brody!' she called happily, going to sit down next to him 'Howwa you? Excited to be going home?' she asked, all in one breath. "I... never really considered that as an option before." Kellen blinked. He'd always thought of dueling as intricately connected with Defense Against the Dark Arts, and possessing of its own set of spells. Sure, that seemed like a pretty naive way of thinking now, but at the time it made sense and he hadn't had a reason to think otherwise.
On a slightly different note, he observed, "So obviously you not only survived your NEWTs, but they treated you well. I saw one of the other seventh years dragging his feet all the way down here earlier."

Oh look, 'Twas Maddie. She was there to save him....from boredness and lonliness. "Hey Maddie," he said, not as loooooooooooong as she had though. "Yes, I'm excited, but also kind of sad." Because Hogwarts was awesome! "But not as sad as the seventh years." They were all crying, the girls were, crying girls scared him. Aaaaaaaand then- how did she know? "Um....yes," he said slowly. "You should." Celandine told him seriously. "It will give you an advantage and help you master stuff." Bonus there, right?
Celandine listened to the speech with one ear, deciding she'd process it later when she was more inclined to really think about the fact that it was her LAST one. Ick. Last things were bittersweet. She smiled at Kellen.
"Well, I have to get twelve of them you know? So I was studying a lot, but that was okay because aside from Raiden and Garret..." And Garret was always busy doing who KNEW what these days, probably not thinking with his brain (if he ever really had teehee), "Most of my super close friends have already left in the last few years. So less distractions you know?" And Cela had definitely got a little twitchy towards the end there but now that it was over? Well, it was over. "I hope to get at least the same grades that I got on my OWLs." She added.

Speech given equaled food time, and Kellen started loading up his plate, "Is that the requirement for getting licensed to do experimental charms? Do you even need a license? Or are you just really, really academically focused?" Being a Ravenclaw and the Head Girl seemed to point to that.
But it must have been tough being here when all her other friends had moved on, "It's going to be weird in a year from now, when Raiden leaves. That being said," he smiled and shrugged, "I think it's better that people have friends in different years. Better than only associating with people in your year, that is."
Lily-anne walked into the great hall saddened by the fact that the school year was almost over she slowly trudged to the ravenclaw table and sat down. she hoped she would she someone she knew soon. wow she was gunna miss this place.

"Its a requirement of proving I'm better than my brothers." Celandine answered, "And a requirement of me being here instead of homeschooled or at a finishing school for young witches." She loaded her own plate up. "And because I like being the best and owe it to myself and my professors to do what I can." And being better than her brothers was something Cela wanted for herself.
"Its less about licenses and more about patents." She added, piling her plate high with mashed potato and slatherings of gravy to the point where a casual observer might wonder how she kept her figure. She went ahead and did exactly what she had when she'd been a little bit of a thing - made an island out of the potato, with the gravy forming the ocean.
"I think its better too." She shot a quick smile at Kellen. "Lucky us. We both get to miss Raiden from opposite ends huh?" A mouthful of potato followed this statement.

Kellen wrinkled his nose at the thought of being home-schooled. Much as it meant that he'd be able to cast magic anywhere he wanted in the house, and therefore make his sisters leave him alone unless they wanted cricket-eyes, he could only imagine it would get lonely. As for the other... "Finishing school is no screaming heck. Been there, done that, don't regret leaving. I've learned way more here than I ever did there."
More because it looked like a tasty idea than anything else, Kellen found himself copying Cela's potato-gravy display, "Lucky for sure. Just think of the reunion party. If tradition holds, it'll be a never-ending guest list."

Brody saw someone sit at the table who he did not know, but he looked about his age. So he could know her, if he met her. Which he should. ANYWAY. "Hello," Brody said. "My name is Brody, I'm a first year...until tomorrow." Tomorrow he was going to be a SECOND year! Woohoo.

Cela straightened in her seat, shifting so that she was sitting more ladylike. Then she made a face, crossing her eyes and poking out her tongue. Really, Hogwarts had taught her how to just be herself no matter what.

"So what are you doing this summer, Kellen?"
"It used to be like that in my house, too," Kellen shrugged. "Then my mother started having daughters, my parents started traveling more... I think my sister's run a little wild with no one there but servants and younger siblings to bully. She used to be a princess, too." He recalled the way she'd greeted him with a headbutt on Christmas break, and smiled with a shake of the head.
"I guess... I don't really know what I'm up to this summer. I think I might try for my M license, so I can get around in the Muggle world but don't have to drive my sisters everywhere." His summer plans weren't really for when he was still a child. Given the heads-up by his sister eavesdropping on his parents, he'd learned his fate upon graduation and he was already scheming to avoid it.
The fictional occupants of Kellen's island screamed in terror as a giant metal object descended from the sky and split the land in twain, "But I think I'll miss Hogwarts too, when I'm two years down the road and in your shoes. I'm hoping to wriggle out from under my father's thumb and travel for a few years before I get tied down to the house."

"I'm the only girl. And the youngest. I have four older brothers." Cela offered in return, just a little wistful. She'd have loved younger siblings so that she wouldn't have been alone when the others all went off to school. Considering the next oldest after Cela was four years above her, it had been a long while little Celandine had been completely on her own. Attention starved then. And now she got more than her fair share.
"M license? Is that for cars?" Cela considered this. "I have my apparition license, I got it last summer." She doubted that she'd ever have the chance to get a muggle license... "I rode on the back of a scooter thing once, and I have a motorbike helmet with flowers on it."
Because these things were obviously comparable to M licenses.
"Tied down?" She created a river through her potato island, moving the fork through until the gravy flooded a channel. "My brother, the heir, the eldest, he was engaged for FIVE years before he got married." So Kellen could manage like, two or whatever. See?

"Total opposites," Kellen observed. "I'd love to have brothers. Then maybe I could abdicate." His parents had made it abundantly clear that the Stern family was going to have a male at the head of the family, no matter how much of a tomboy Hateya was turning herself into.
"M license is for motorbikes," like the ones she had the girly helmet for. "The plan is to get the license, and then tell the parents after." This statement was accompanied with a grin.
"Not that kind of tied down," Kellen muttered, distracting himself from the question for a moment by planting a broccoli tree on his island. He wasn't even fully comfortable with the notion of going steady, let alone getting engaged or married. "The kind of tied down where the parents move out and I'm left raising my sisters. It's... kind of complicated. I mean, they're practically on their own now, so do I feel bad about shirking and stay home, or do I let them keep doing what they're doing while I globe-trot?"

"Don't jump off cliffs with parachutes when you're on it." Cela advised without explaning it any further. One of her brothers was reckless like that. A stunt flyer and it totally translated to every other area of his life. Including driving a motorbike off a cliff while wearing a parachute.
Cela marked a spot on the island with an X marked out of ketchup and tipped her head to one side.
"You could hire people." she suggested. "Nannies and tutors and stuff. Just temporarily. How old are your sisters?"

Miles walked over to the Ravie table finally free of the claustrophobic nature of the Huffie table with the girls mobbing Torin. Looking around he spotted Cela and walked over to her giving her a BIIIIIIIIIIIG hug. "I'm going to miss you Cela." It was true too now who would he have to dodge not to mess with his hair.

"Cute." Cela informed Miles affectionately, patting his cheek gently. "You were the best co-prefect I ever had." She managed this with a straight face and a twinkle in her dark eyes. Only co-prefect, technically.
"Don't let any of them catch on fire. Promise?" Cela meant so much more with that request. It was of course a reference to Lafay, but in general she hoped Miles would welcome the newest firsties and look out for the other little ones, especially the Ravenclaws, once she was gone.
