He looked at her not sure if it was even safe to stay. She was starting to scare him, not in the Professor Lafay 'I'm going to eat your young" way, but in a she might explode way. "I wasn't trying to poison you." he told her. He didn't know she would freak out and dump a whole tray of cupcakes over on him. "Professor Carlton just told us to delivery these to someone and I hadn't met you yet so I thought you might like some cupcakes is all." he confessed. He rooted around in her candy dish till he found a Bertie Botts bean. It was a rusty red colored bean and he dropped it like it had stung him. He hated red food. Bad phobia. He found a blue one and he popped that on into his mouth. Toothpaste. Great at least his breath wouldn't be bad. "Thank you." he said remembering his manners.

"Nnnot in my experience," Jake replied, laughing nervously. It was rough getting to know a professor to the point where you could make jokes around them and feel pretty comfortable.

At the question, Jake opened his mouth, ready to give a confident answer of 'yes'... but then, he kind of faltered... then his mouth closed again and he frowned slightly at the window... thinking. Did he speak to people his own age? Not any more... everyone was too childish or mean or liable to leave... so... no. "I kkkeep myself to mmmyself. Sssafer that way. P-p-problem is, I cccan't even rrread to mmyself when I'm alone, ssso..."

Jake remembered what it was he wanted.

"I kkkind of... get cconstant homesickness."

Then Jake eyyyyyed the candy bowl. "Ccccan I have some t-t-too?"

Ellie hadn't left. She was still standing there. She had, though, thought it quite funny that Alex had left. Dumb girl.

"Wand, Professor?" Yeah, that's right. She wasn't stupid enough to leave without her wand. Other than the fact that she felt completely naked without it.

If she didn't know any better, she might have thought the Hufflepuff prefect had been flirting with her. But of course being the smart young woman she was - and slightly conceited - she knew she did a great job and it didn't even phase her with what he said. "Thank you," she replied still politely nonetheless.

Listening to his interpretation of her number, she couldn't help but give a small smile at how very true it was. Though she must have calculated a thousand numbers over the years, it was hers that always struck her as a surprise. Not because it was wrong, but quite the opposite. She loved hearing how TRUE it was. Just as she loved doing people's readings and letting them feel that same sense of shock at the accuracy. "Precisely, Mr Kane. I do often find myself searching for deeper meanings in everything." She emphasized, pointing to her vast array of books on the bookshelves. "And thank you. Good job."

Distractedly, she nodded off to the girl as she hurried from her office. It was only about a moment later that she realized she still had the two confiscated wands in her pocket. Whoops! Ah well, that girl will back and if not, she'll give it to her when she next sees her.

"You're welcome," she told him, scribbling down a note as a reminder to head to the library and meet him there.

Oh! So genuine and sweet, this boy was, Hadley couldn't help but feel a certain warmth of blood rushing to her cheeks. "You're... Oh. My apologies, truly! So Professor Carlton ... eh?" Now what did she teach? Remembering what everyone taught was so hard on the brain sometimes. "We have a cooking class at Hogwarts now?" she raised one eyebrow in mere suggestion. Oh where were her manners!? She ought to formally introduce herself to the ... young slytherin. Even if he did drop the red bean on her floor; apparently she wasn't the only insane one with strange food phobias in this room. "Anyway, I know we got off to be a bad start, but I'm Professor Hadley, Professor of Arithmancy." As if that wasn't evident by the number-related books and charts in the office.

Oh this boy was sooo!cute. Josephina so badly wanted to coddle him tightly and never let go, but judging from her experience with teenage boys, she guessed he wouldn't like that too much. After all, he was like ... what? fifteen? "Not yet you mean," she encouraged, giving him a comforting smile.

OH!! Sniffle! Sob! Fina was sooo distraught at his response . . . he didn't have friendsss his own age?! Depressing! Granted she was similar in that she did keep to herself when she was a student too, but that was mostly because she was too busy studying to be bothered socializing. It wasn't because people didn't like her, but just because she would rather read. "You can't even read to yourself?!?" she stared incredulously. "My! Dear boy... Please, come here if you want to read! You're always welcome to read in this office." Nice, safe haven.

Oh. Well that was strange. Homesickness? Considering he'd been coming to hogwarts for at least three or four years by now, one would think he was over that. "I'm ... sorry." Truly she was. And then someone got distracted when she offered cupcake!boy a candy.

"You can have five if you like," Josephina said, holding the candy bowl out to him. Guess she didn't know yet of his excessive hyperactivity when he gets sugar in his system.

Ah right, figures the Ravenclaw girl would be the one to remind her about the wand. "Yes, sorry about that, Ellie." Fina said apologetically, handing her over the wand. "If you see Alex before I do, would you tell her that I have her wand for her?" Good to encourage niceties among the students.

He sat down and nodded at her question. "Yes ma'am. It was part of our first lesson. Me and my friend Selena made those cupcakes." he told her. "Well um I think Professor Carlton just wanted that to be our first lesson for charms. But she has a kitchen set up that we can use whenever we want." He wanted another piece of candy but he was trying to control his sugar addiction and he was doing better. "Its ok Professor I understand," he wasn't sure why she felt bad, but he didn't want her too. "I'm Dillon Greenwood." It was evident by the snake crest on his robes.
