Trixie nodded. "err...yeah, I guess that's sufficient enough. Thank you sir" she smiled. "I'll be sure to go tell that to the HoM teacher" she giggled. Well this was a rather strange homework assignment really. And it was a little awkward asking a teacher for their history but oh well.

Sage nodded right back. He understood. When he was younger he hadn't been able to sleep unless he'd had a mug of warm milk. He supposed this was the same thing. He'd half been expecting some more questions. Like an interview. But nope, it seemed his brief words about his time at Hogwarts had been plenty for Miss Malfoy. ""You're welcome," Sage smiled sheepishly with a little bow of his head. "Glad to help."

Beaming at the professor, she slid out of her seat. She didn't mind the wait so long as was able to get the plants she needed. "Thanks, professor. I'll see you at the greenhouse." Smiling once more at the others, she left the office and headed for the greenhouses.

"Herbology isn't ALL about man-eating plants you know," the Professor said simply, small crease forming between his eyebrows when Treyen said this wasn't going to be like regular Herbology. He dreaded to think what the last Professor had been teaching them...
"And I don't hate Quidditch either," he carried on, head tilting to one side. He'd just never seen the point of the sport. Of ANY sports to be honest. Heh.
He sat thoughtfully for a moment, hands fidgeting on the desk. Treyen seemed oddly interested in his book collection and Sage listened carefully as he spoke up about runes and wand trees.
"Well, Ancient Runes was never one of my favourite subjects," he admitted, slightly abashed, "but I think I can help if its a book about magical trees that you want." That was after all, sort of his area. Leaning back in his seat, Sage reached for one of the book shelves, and eyed the spines in search. AHA.
"Magical Trees and their Properties," he grinned, setting the old book on his desk. He was sure there was a copy in the library, but he didn't mind loaning his own copy out.
He blinked a little when the door knocked.. he wasn't expecting anyone. Was he?
Mmmm. Well, Treyen nodded, but he didn't know THAT much about Herbology, apparently. He did know the basics, but since he failed at being motivated to come to Herbology last year, then he knew only what others told him.
Perhaps that was...not right?
"Oh, no, I didn't mean that...just that my grandma does" he corrected himself, while he looked at the Professor, "But you're welcome to cheer for Hufflepuff in the Stands anytime" he sort of invited, as if such an invitation was needed to head over to the Stands.
Aha! Professor Dodson was not the one for Ancient Runes! And...Treyen liked Divination best...it seemed Ancient Runes ranked pretty low, then. No point in telling Professor Shackleton that.
"Well, yes, that would be very helpful" he said, eyes wandering around the room, and then fixed on the book the Professor had managed to find. It was...a VERY BIG book, and his copy looked a bit old.
Before anything could happen, some girls wandered inside the office, and Treyen only had eyes for the book, the VERY BIG book. Magical Trees and Their Properties. Got it. A very big book. Did it contain the actual tree inside? 'Cause it was big, man.
One thing broke his focus, though, as the Professor mentioned he was a Gryffindor while at Hogwarts. That was quite a coincidence, because he didn't like Quidditch that much, and his grandma didn't at all...and he was a Gryffindor, and so was his grandma.
Hmmm. Interesting.
Back to the book. "Er, Professor, the book..." he started to say, "...are you sure you can lend it for a couple of days or should I write down the name and head to the Library?" because it was a bit old, and if the Professor was TOO attached to the book then it'd be better if he head up the Library.
Treyen will be saving time, though, if the Professor lend him the book, because he was planning on hunting down materials right away, and he was already outside the Castle. But, yeah, whatever the Professor says.

"I'm sure I'll venture into the stands for a peek," Sage chuckled with a smile when Treyen invited him to spectate. Not because he was a fan or anything, but because it would be a bit lonely around and he suspected everyone else would be around the pitch.
He had no idea when the matches were.. but he'd notice when everyone trekked past the greenhouses and towards the stadium.
He watched as the Hufflepuff examined the old book on trees for a while. "You're welcome to take that copy," he answered brightly, waving a hand to say it was completely fine. "Just be sure to drop it back off when you're finished with it." He wasn't a huge bookworm, but he found himself needing to check something or other in them from time to time.

Grin.
"Oh, you'll like the Stands, unless there's snow, or rain..." he started to say, "...I was in the Stands last year, see, I signed up for tryouts, but then forgot to attend them..." why did he feel like he had to explain himself? He didn't feel like doing so, he just likes to, "...but this year I made sure I wouldn't miss them, and now I'm the Keeper....for Hufflepuff, of course" he couldn't be Keeper for the Holyhead Harpies, he was only in Hogwarts, nor he could if he wasn't in Hogwarts anyway, they only take girls, right?
Actually, he'd rather devote himself to magic and books, rather than Quidditch, but who knows.
And...the book!
Double grin.
"I can? Thank you, Professor! You saved me a trip to the Library" not that he disliked being in there, the Library had soooo many books he was practically in a paradise island where books fly.
"I'll be sure to return it as soon as I'm done with it" just a couple of days, and...he should make a copy of the book, right? But he didn't know how, he only knew Pierre had made a copy of the book he gave Treyen, but he forgot to ask him how it was made. Oh! Research possibilities! Yes! He'll do his research.
The Huffie stood up, and took the book, "I'll take good care of the book, Professor, and I'll return it quickly, you won't even notice it was gone" he smiled, quite widely, and then the happy Lockhart exited the office.
Alex knocked on the door of the Herbology Professor's office with a slight hesistation, she knew the Professor had a slight fear of Slytherins. She however had a question about giving a friend a plant for Christmas.. and who else to ask but the Herbology Professor. Now she had to wait patiently for him to answer.

Sage had been reading a book on the properties of underwater plants - he wanted to examine the shrubs around the lake a little before term ended - when there was a knock at the door. He marked the page he was on before setting the book down and looking up and calling, "come in!"

"What can I do for you, Alex?" Sage asked with a smile. A genuine smile. The young Slytherin looked nervous not menacing.. so he wasn't so afraid. Not yet anyway. Maybe she just needed help with homework..?
.. he was about to ask when from thin air, a box popped onto his desk. The surprise nearly had him toppling from his seat. And he was scared now. REAL scared. Too scared to look... EEEEK!

Alex was about to answer the Professors question when he.. freaked out as a box of Krispe Kremes appeared on his desk. There was no way, Alex thought staring at the box slightly surprised, Professor Lafay had sent.. Professor.. Dodson a box of dounuts? "Professor, calm down the box is from Professor Lafay." Alex told him, really hoping the Professor wasn't afraid of the Slytherin head. She was hoping to calm him down if not, "Do you want me to get the school Healer or one of the Professors?" Alex asked after a moment not moving toward him, because that would make the entire situation worse.

... Professor Lafay?
Sage's face paled as the young Slytherin went and confirmed his very thoughts. Hectate had sent him something. A gift? That woman was...
So lost in his worried thoughts, the Professor twitched a little when Kris spoke again. The Healer!? "No, no thank you.. I'm fine." Just absolutely petrified. And considering asking Headmaster Tate if he could maybe get a restraining order on the Potions Mistress. He'd feel much safer if he knew the woman wasn't allowed within a fifty foot radius of him..
"What - what is it that I can help you with?" He asked, attempting a smile as he nudged the box to one side.

Alex eyed the Professor but answered his question anyway, "Well, it's getting closer to Christmas and one of my best friends really likes Herbology so I was thinking of getting him something having to do with it, but I don't know much of the subject.. so I decided to come here and ask for your thoughts on what was a good idea to get him, I was considering a plant or a good interesting Herbology book." Alex looked at the Professor waiting for his reply. After all he was the Herbology person and she was almost as bad in Herbology as she was in History of Magic or Divination.

Oh?
Well, that was quite sweet of her.
Sage gave his beard a little thoughtful rub, trying to wipe the gift from Hectate out of his mind as he helped the student. "I think a plant would be a nice gift, something your friend can nuture and watch grow." Yes, a plant was a much better gift than a book in his eyes. "Do you know what sort of plants they prefer?"

Alex thought about it, "Well he wants to either be an auror in the future or become Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor. He also hasn't stopped talking about that one plant in class, umm I can't remember which one.." Alex trailed off shrugging after a moment, "I generally tune him out when he starts talking about Herbology." It wasn't her best subject and Zane always made her feel stupid when he talked about crossing one of the plants the Professor shown them with another plant. Maybe that is what Zane felt when she started to talk about Potions? "So maybe a plant that's safe for an eleven year old boy that's also easy to care for." Alex suggested, she knew Zane had a habit of forgetting things but she already reminded him of majority of things like class so reminding Zane to take care of a plant would be easy considering he loved plants.

Okay, this shouldn't be too difficult then. A simple plant that an eleven year old boy could easily nurture. "Well, there's the dragon tree.. they're indoor plants and they're very easy to take care of," he thought an eleen year old boy might apprectiate the name of that one also. "It's a mundane plant, so all it would need is regular watering. Or perhaps a cactus? They're nice and easy to look after."
Or maybe she was after something magical?
"Puffapods and flutterbys are also fairly easy to look after, but I'm not sure a boy would like those very much.." But then what did he know? He hoped that was somewhat helpful..

Alex blinked, name of plants pretty much flew over her head but she took a careful amount of time to decide, "What are the magical properties of the Puffapods and Flutterbys? and Yeah the Dragon does sound cool but I better weigh my option to get the one he would like most." Alex told him, she was known for taking time to decide on things like this after all, besides there was a reason she did best in Potions Class and not Herbology, she just didn't have the patience for growing plants.. or to study every single thing a plant may do, which was why she asked for the assistance of the Herbology Professor.

"Well..." a small crease formed between Sage's eyebrows as he frowned slightly, "they don't really have many magical properties, they're mostly for decoration.." He gave his beard a scratch before continuing his attempts at explaining. "During it's time, the puffapod produces large seedpods which are filled with lots of smaller bean-like seeds. And if these seeds are dropped from say a height of around three foot, more puffapods instantly come into bloom!" It was quite fun actually. "And the flutterby.. well, that just quivers a lot."

Alex considered it, "The puffapods sounds like something Zane could like a lot." Alex told the Professor smiling slightly, Zane was known for wanting to create hybrids of plants so something that could produce a lot of seeds might sound cool to him.

"Really?" Sage said, breaking out into another smile. Well, that was good news! "Puffapods are fairly common too, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting him one.." Considering they were always popping up when somone acidentally dropped a few seeds..? Yeah, pretty common. "Infact, you could simply take a few seeds from one of the puffapods in the greenhouse if you like." The greenhouse was starting to get over run with the plants, so it would help if she DID take a seedpod really.. maybe he should start giving them away as prizes in class or something. Hmmm.

Alex nodded smiling at the Professor in understanding, "The Greenhouse, which one, the Student's garden or the actual you know Greenhouse." Alex asked, she wouldn't want to get in trouble for going to the wrong place after all and as long as she didn't drop the seeds until Christmas, maybe in front of Zane, she could keep it a secret.
