"I'm going to get straight to the point here - Defence lesson one," she gave them all a stern look, clasping her hands in front of her. "Those of you that were there will no doubt have noticed how much chattering was going on before class started, and how the Prefect's repeated requests for quiet were ignored. Now I'm not saying it was just you lot responsible, but WE," she gestured to Torin, then herself, "are responsible for you.We love the fact that you new students are making friends, but class is not the time to talk to them.Professor Truebridge may not have taken points this time, but he may next time, and so might other teachers. We're already in the minuses, and that can't continue....Torin?" Sarah looked across to her fellow Prefect, giving him a nod to let him know it was his turn.
He was glad that people were paying attention. It was good. These students were good. He was proud that his House was behaving so well on the most part. Even if they were in the minuses. Hem hem.

Casting Sarah the occasional glance and nod, he waited for her to finish so that he could go on.

"Yes, we are very glad that you guys are so eager to learn and chat with your friends, but we all need to remember that in the class rooms we need to be quiet when the Professor wants to start their lesson." Not that these students were the ones that were causing trouble, but it was still something that needed to be said to them.

"It's also a point to be made that while you guys are all doing a great job, this needs to be upheld. The older students need to set an example for the younger ones who still aren't totally familiar with our rules. And we also need to set an example with the other Houses. And show how amazing we are." Because randomly throwing in House Pride was always a good thing.

They all seemed to be listening. Both to her and Torin.Hopefully they wouldn't think they were being picked on, that was totally not their intention.

Sarah bit her lip and looked around at the faces, as Torin said his piece. And then it was back to her... "Exactly. We need to prove to everyone else that we can rise above the petty pranks some people feel the need to play, and show them how Badgertastic we truely are." *snort* Had she just made up a word? Cool. "So what we are asking you to do, if you are new here to Hogwarts, is please make sure you read and follow all the classroom rules each Professor has pinned to their noticeboards. And if someone you know makes trouble, don't copy them, it's not big and clever," she gave some of the younger ones a quick smile, before turning to the older students. "Also if us older students could do the same.Show them how a good badger is meant to behave, and we may just get ourselves into some positive points." Okay, that was....that.Right? Made sense to her, and to Torin when they'd gone over it before.

Unclamping her hands from each other, Sarah held them out in front of her for a second, before letting them fall to her sides. "Sooo," she shrugged, glancing around all of them "any questions?"

Muttering under her breath, jabbing her wand with gusto, the Hufflepuff shot green circles at her shoe, sending it skidding across the floor (and herself, running after it). On her fifth try, the mary-jane had gone all the way to the other wall, and the one-shoe-on-one-shoe-off 4th year had scurried to pick it up, offering several 'excuse-me's to whoever she disrupted in her recovery mission. It was while she was picking up the shoe that she heard Torin's voice and stopped what she was doing to listen.

And smile, because her they both sounded very professional and prefect-like. It was a grand speech, and Wesley could have never said anything nearly as eloquently. Nodding, face serious, the teenager crossed her heart in promise. She'd set a good example. She'd be a good fourth year.

...But she couldn't think of any questions. This wouldn't have been a problem normally, but none of the others were asking either. Wesley didn't want her friends to stand there with no questions. She didn't want them to feel lonely. Raising her hand, the short girl called from the back, "How many years has it been since we won the House Cup?"

Wesley didn't know. Definitely more than 3. Which was a long time. Eyebrows dropping with worry, she began to wonder if they had ever won it at all. Ever in the whole history of Hogwarts. Oh, Wesley hoped so. She crossed her fingers, hoping to dear Merlin they had won at least once before. Just one! Just one time! Please, oh please, oh please, oh please, just ONCE! If they hadn't, Wesley would, well, Wesley figured her heart would break. Lifting her left hand to the spot where she thought her heart was, fingers still crossed, the girl's frown deepened. She didn't want her heart to break. Broken hearts sounded scary.

Cedric tilted his head to the prefects who were already talking about the things they would want to implement or probably, they were just blaming them for losing six points!

And really, he couldn't blame his own housemates why they'd like to talk and chatter because they were just being friendly and all. But yep, Torin and the other prefect had a point. They were right, he thought. And so they must obey or at least, keep in mind what the two prefects were requesting them to do.

He turned back to Katie and then back to the prefects. He felt guilty and sad and all. He knew that there was still hope for Hufflepuffs and look, they weren't really the worst house ever. He kept his gaze downcast and looked up as someone asked something that should be really answered. "Since my first year, Hufflepuffs didn't win the house cup." He told the girl as he gave a slight nod.

Rhea had been sitting in the corner in one of the plushy arm chairs by the fire as the prefects spoke. She was sooooooooooooo glad that they were talking to everyone about the house point situation and behaviour issues. She had almost been brought to tears when she saw that they were in the negatives.

Sure they had won the quidditch couple some years in a row but nothing could take away the feeling of winning the house cup or winning them both. She raised her hand when Sarah asked if they had any questions. She did and she kind of had a suggestion as well.
" Ok well since we are in the negatives, the slytherins came up with a way to get house points before classes even started, is there anything we can do to get additional house points like maybe propose a project to the professors or something?" Ok so it didnt sound as smart when she voiced it out loud but whatever. She went on.
"And since some of the younger students are having a problem remembering the rules, maybe we could have mentors for them or something. Like, the older students could volunteer to steer the younger ones in the right direction so to speak..." she dropped her hand and looked at both her prefects.

Melissa turned towards Torin and Sarah and listened to what this meeting was about. Glup. Defence Lesson 1, well she didn't do anything wrong so it wasn't her fault. Gladly.

The minuses, she did NOT want to talk about that, knowing who cause them to be in the minuses. It was her fault too but she wasn't there when the points we taken off. But she did feel bad, like she had let Hufflepuff down. She never wanted to do that.

She nodded listening to Torin and taking his advice. She remembered chatting but thankfully most of them weren't Hufflepuffs. She also did check the rules, well briefly but she still did it. She hoped that most of the people in this room did too. Melissa smiled when she heard Torin say how amazing that they were, that was true in her opinion.

Badgertastic! What a word. But she had to agree they were Badgertastic! Great now Sarah talked about trouble, er she kinda did do trouble on the fifth floor. Again, she wasn't proud at all. Yes positive points, they were going to get positive points and win.

SPOILER!!: A suggestion. :D

After listening to the Quidditch part of the conversation, which was terrible at the fact that they haven't won since well when the older boy said to Wesley (oh she is awake now!) since his first year. He looked very older so she was guessing about 5 or 4 years ago. That wasn't good, she wanted them to win this year.

She now looked at a girl who raised her hand. She listened to her and spoke. "Well, I heard that Professor Truebridge gave them a small opportunity to get them back to the positives," well she did hear that but it was kind of a rumour, she didn't know anyone in Slytherin who could confirm it. "And I have no idea how we are going to do that," she tried to carry on, "we could propose a project. That is a pretty good idea really, then we could earn back those 6 points and maybe get us catching up to the Slytherins." There was no doubt in her mind that she wanted to them to win. She chose not to comment on the other suggestion what the girl had said because she was a young student so she couldn't say anything. But she nodded and looked at Torin and Sarah giving them a small smile.

Amy walked through the empty common room and flopped down, most people were at aritmacy, not her, numbers made her head hurt, she sat on the rug and warmed her feet against the fire, reading hogwarts a history and slowly humming quietly

Simon walked into the common room and saw Amy. "Amy." He smiled. "How are you?" He hadn't seen her for awhile and had missed her, now he didn't know what to say, he always felt like this around Amy and Maddie and he had no idea why.

Amy looked up from her book, Simon, she said, her facing breaking into a smile, I'm good thanks, you? she asked as she closed her book and sat up, crosslegged

Simon sat down next to Amy. "I'm good too." He sighed as he was a bit annoyed at the moment, he was scared of classes at the moment, he hadn't done very well in the few he had been in. "Where were you earlier?" He asked suddenly.

In DADA, I saw you do the spell, well done and then, I've just been hanging around the lake and stuff, but I'm not doing artimacy, I can't do numbers, at all, she told him truthfully, shuddering inwardly at the thought of all those numbers. What about you?

Simon looked at Amy. "It took me ages though." Simon sighed, "I'm scared of what's still to come." Simon looked shocked when she said she wasn't doing Artimacy. "You should to Artimacy." Simon looked at Amy. "I would help you if you went to the class." Simon giggled as he realised what he was saying he wasn't very good at number too. "I'm sure the Professor would help you." He corrected himself.

I know, but I've never been to a maths lesson by choice, I always pulled a sickie and went to the medical room or bunked-not that I'm saying you should, I mean it's not mandatory so why should I go through the hassle, are you going to muggle studies? she asked him, wondering how many lessons they were both in, and whether he would actually go to aritmacy

"Yeah I'm going to muggle studies." Simon smiled, "I'm going to every lesson I can, I need to get some points after we lost some." Simon looked around the Common Room before turning back to Amy. "Come on go to Artimacy with me." Simon hoped that she would.

"And since some of the younger students are having a problem remembering the rules, maybe we could have mentors for them or something. Like, the older students could volunteer to steer the younger ones in the right direction so to speak..." she dropped her hand and looked at both her prefects.
Torin was happy to see that there were students listening and seeming eager to help with showing how amazing Hufflepuff was.

"That's a great idea, Rhea." He always knew that she was a clever girl."We can offer to help the Professors when they need it. And yes, any older students wanting to help guide the younger ones would be great. Set a good example for them and we can all work together to help them get into the Badger Spirit. Lets all be Badgerific."

Simon looked around, the prefects wanted them to be good little boys and girls but where was the fun in that, Simon turned away from the Prefects, nearly ready to laugh, how could the prefects want them to behave like angel when he was sure that when the Prefects where first year they had fun, you just had to know when something isn't fun anymore.

Sure they had won the quidditch couple some years in a row but nothing could take away the feeling of winning the house cup or winning them both. She raised her hand when Sarah asked if they had any questions. She did and she kind of had a suggestion as well.

Cadence listened closely as the Prefects and other students talked. Funny how the ones here and listening and contributing were the ones NOT causing the issues. And then Torin said that last word, and Cadi snorted in laughter at her big brother. "Sorry... that was just... a weird word coming out of your mouth," she said, laughing a little. Torin nodded. Sarah had a good point there. "Yes, a buddy system could work out great. We can make a sign up sheet for anyone wanting to take part, and match you up with someone to help out." He loved these meetings, because they gave everyone a chance to work together and be a team.

He turned his attention to Cadence as she called out two people not paying attention.

"And that right there is what I'm looking for. Thank you, Cadence." He nodded at his best friend in approval because she wasn't rude while she told them the rules.

"Can you two please pay attention to our meeting? You can get to chatting again when it's over."

Simon looked at this girl and blinked, who was she, he hadn't met her before. "If I wanted to be in a meeting I would listen." He said as he got out his book and started to read, he was half listening to what the Prefects was saying, he knew he would have to behave at some point but why did he need the Prefects to tell him that.

Torin frowned as the boy took a book out and started to read. "Please put that away. This meeting is very important and we need you to pay attention."

"So we have lost a few points but what is all the fuss about?" Simon was confused hadn't loads of people lost points before, he put the book down, just for the moment.

Cadence smiled up at Torin when he complimented her. Awwww he was proud! How adorable! It was sort of her duty as his best friend/little sister to pay attention to him and do what he asked and stand up for him, was it not? Yes, yes it was. It was kind of sad that she didn't get to see him as much at school as she had over the summer. "I'd do it!" she said in reply to the buddy system comment. Helping firsties would be fun! When Torin turned to address the two who were ignoring them, Cadence turned to look back at them.

Her mouth fell open at the boy's reaction. Oh, that little snot! Cadence stood up from her seat, walked over to him and physically took the away from him. "Listen, you may not WANT to be here, but you have to be. Do you realize that you're on the verge of losing us even more points by acting this way? Don't you care about your housemates?! If you put us even further in the negatives, people are NOT going to be a very big fan of you. This meeting is important because we shouldn't even be in the negatives, even if it IS just a few points. That's six points that someone else has to make up before we can start earning points. They're trying to come up with ways to help us earn points instead of lose them," she said, making sure to keep the book out of his reach so he would listen.

Rhea nodded yep thats all she wanted. She knew that HufflePuff was the best house at Hogwarts with the nicest people and of course badgers were renowned for their hard work and friendship, so them putting in some extra work certainly should be no problem at all.

Ahh yes Prefect Sarah was awesome. That was exactly what Rhea had in mind. Asking Mr. Masterson was a wonderful idea. He had his little girl visiting so he would most certainly need the extra help and there was no way he would stand in the way of his house earning some honest points, right?

The Sarah went on to mention the buddy list another great idea by their prefect.
"Yeah the buddy list is a great idea. I'm sure lots of the younger ones and older ones would be up to it. Some of them really just need role models."

Rhea beamed at the other girl sitting in the room. She had never met her personally but she was liking her already just by the fact that she was into what was being said and eager to volunteer her services. Definitely a true Huffie.
"Exactly," she said nodding in agreement.

Rhea had barely finished agreeing with her when the boy started acting real out of order. She said nothing at the moment as the prefect and Cadence, that was her name, dealt with it and she certainly didn't want the boy to feel like everyone was ganging up on him. He out of everyone needed a role model, she thought.
