Ahhhh. Professor Lainey touching his face. Raiden's eyes widened slightly in surprise and he fought the immediate instinct to lean back.
"Calming Draught, Professor. And... yes, I did." He would have nodded, as well, but the professor touching his face prevented that. "I always have one on me, for... personal reasons..."
It was a long story, and he didn't really want to explain it in front of Brink. Hopefully the professor didn't make him? It wasn't as if it was really a problem anymore, after all. He was just... overly cautious.
"That you learned to brew under the previous Potions Master?" And not the pyromaniac MANIAC that was there now. Ahem. Lainey patted Raiden's shoulder and let him go. She threw him a look, another of those LOOKS where she was trying to SAY something but not saying it.
It was the crazy eye. Well meant crazy eye.

Assuming Raiden was out to get him, then he was being very stupid about it all when everyone and their housemates saw him hand over the phial. Yes, Brinkley had taken a chance with drinking the Calming Draught. Why was Lainey torturing him with suspense?!
"There you have it, he brewed it," he interjected once Raiden spoke. "And I haven't dropped dead yet. Is that alright?"
Those actually weren't rhetorical. "Stereotypes aren't always created out of thin air, Dear Brink. I trust Raiden, as well, though I would be more cautious if I were you. Drinking potion blindly is a serious thing. For all you REALLY knew, he fed you love potion." Lainey's hand that had been torturing the boys' faces found its way to her hip to match it's partner. "Vigilance boys. You MUST think before you act, and you mustn't act until you THINK."
And then she walked away, just like that.

The seventh year nodded understandingly to the younger Gryffindor, "Well you don't have to be an expert, Merlin know I'm not. We are all here to help each other out." he used a few more nonverbal sticking charms to attach a couple of boads together to make up one side.

Another ten minutes or so had passed since Chris had finished assembling the first side of the boat. He then moved to the other one and afte a few more sticking charms, a cut with the saw here and there, and a bit of shaking the wood to get a perfect fit, the hull of the boat was done.
He stepped back and examined his work. The boat was at least 7-feet long and could easily fit four students it in. That was good, because he wasn't going to be the one tied to it in the water!
Ok so Leiliani was working on the mast and sail by herself. He would help her now. "Hey there, mind if I help?" he grinned brightly as he walked over to the pile of wood and a bit of fabric.
Leilani looked over. Yeah, wasn't quite as simple as it seemed. "Not at all! Actually I'm kind of confused." yeah okay, well... Where'd this thing go?? After a few minutes of staring at it she'd gotten about half of it done. The other half had improvement to be made. Sigh. They'd get there.

Legend was actually really excited about this whole Ark thing but he couldn't show it because ...you know...he was working with Czeslaw.
Did anyone ever tell Czes that he was bossy? Cause the dude seriously was. He was using all his own ideas and asking him about nothing! And he had created the drawing! “Gravity right.” That was a load of bull. His attention trailed off to Professor Loonlytoon, Brinky and Raiden. Uhh, were they losing member’s of their team? Or....was Raiden just giving Brinkley a love potion. So many questions.
“How do you know? It works for rafts.” He shot back. And rafts worked just fine. He sighed and ran his hand through his hair. No, he couldn’t act like this he had to be calm. And all teamworky.
Taking back his knife Legend stuffed it into his pocket. It was all contaminated now cause of Chez great.
“Of course I can handle it I just thought the others were doing this part! You know like....Dirt Kicker- Grayson and that other girl you keep staring at and Mr.Slytherin over there.” Or maybe Brinkley and the Sho girl were doing that? Ah. He was confused.
Pulling his wand out Legend concentrated and quickly muttered a spell. It was important that the boat had a Permanent Sticking Charm and not just a Fixing Charm because....then...well...it would sink. Duh. The boards jumped to life and in an instant they were stuck together. “Not difficult at all.”
Sitting down Legend leaned back against the grass. “You can do the rest. I’ll just supervise.” Boy this was tiring.

Yep! Team work, it was great!!
"I can do that," she said to Patroclus. Oh, if it was okay with Destiny. Pfft, it better be oay with her.
Marie looked over at Destiny who seemed to be rather busy with her flag or sail or whatever it was she was doing. Without waiting for a response from her she just started levitating the logs one at a time over to a large area close to the edge of the lake. Once she had all ten of them there they would be able to bind them together with the rope or sticking charms or whatever they had decided on.
Chez' eyebrows darted up in... APPROVAL. Approval of Legends charmwork. "Good work Chosen. Couldn't have done better myself."
Honestly... Chez' incompetence with charms was BEYOND unfortunate.
WAIT a moment. His cheeks reddened deeply. "HEY... girl I keep staring at?" He looked over to Jack, and pressed his lips together tightly. STUPID GRYFFINDOR.
"Dunno who you are talking about."
Attention elsewhere, his eyes scanned Brinkley, Raiden, and Lainey. Lainey was so small and fiery. And she knew his name. BUTTERFLIES. Hopefully she would approve of the raft.
...Supervise? "Um, no you won't." He said, looking at their large boat. "We need to think of something else. Make it look cool you know?" He sat on a rock and did some chinscratching. Yeah, that.

He knew it had been good. Working with his wand one thing that Legend overly conceited about though. He knew he was good but he wasn’t the best. If his work turned out good then it did, and if it didn’t he would try again. He was only fourteen after all.
“Yeah you do she’s the girl that thought I was calling her a Dirt Kicker.” He couldn’t remember her name. It was a boy’s name though. As he watched the other boy’s cheeks reddened he immediately realized that Chez liked that girl. This information could be VERY handy.
Make it look cool? COOL? They still needed to put the sail up but maybe someone else was making that. Cool hmmm.
Ah. Chez was so stupid. He couldn’t come up with things on his own? A supervisor’s job was never done. “We could put the Ark’s name on it. And maybe paint it. Paint it to look like fire. Orrr maybe we should just ask the others.” Fire floating on water. That would be awesome. But you know...they WERE a team so they had to find stuff out.

Jayce grinned. "Thanks Chris." he replied. "Er.. Sure. Why not?" he said happily as he picked up the rudder and walked over to the back of the boat. He held the rudder with one hand against the back curve and used his other hand to grab his wand and recite the sticking charm. He grinned happily as it stayed in place.
Jay turned back around as another girl joined the group. And then Chris was introducing her to everyone. As Chris said his name, he smiled and said a quick "hello." Her name was Gold. That was a cool name.

She wanted to paint the boat already. But then they still had the masts and sails to work on... Which they were working on right now. She sighed and continued to work. Stupid wood. She hoped she didn't get a splinter. That would hurt. Rawrs. "Alright, I'm done," she said with a smile. She was satisfied with her work. The two oars came out nicely and seemed almost identical. Marie looked up when Kylie asked if she could bind the logs together. "I don't mind. You could also help me move the logs if you want. The quicker we get them moved and in place the quicker we can get them bound together." Yep, two people moving the logs would make things go a lot faster since binding them wouldn't take long at all, that is if they were just using sticking charms.
The canvas was all ready and blue. Now she had to figure out how to attach it. So, she grabbed a few smaller logs and made an awkward sort of H-shape with them. Or maybe it was an I-shape. Well, either way, Becca used her permanent sticking charm to attach the logs. Then, like she did before, she used ropes to tie them together - just in case. She had to be sure, you know? As much as she loved swimming, she wanted to be able to say 'Hey, I'm Becca Parker and I just built a raft that SAILED to the other side of the lake!'
While the skeleton of the mast was still on the ground, Becca tied the ends of her Ravenclaw blue canvas to the ends of the logs. It looked... pretty good. The ends of the canvas were in nice, snug knots, as were the ropes holding everything together. It seemed sturdy. NO WAY was it going to fall apart on her!
It took a few moments for Becca to raise the mast and rest the bottom on the raft. She was quick to set another permanent sticking charm. In this situation, there wasn't much of a way to tie extra ropes to help it stay. But it stayed for now. Magic sure was a handy thing, wasn't it? When Becca finally stepped back, a sly grin slowly formed on her face. It was... a raft! "Miss Professor Lainey! BEHOLD! The Ravenclaw Sailing Vessel of POWER! RSVP for short. You'd better watch out for this one. It's a WINNER!"
Because, you know, it was a contest and all.

While waiting for Dilly, Abbi continued to glue wood together, occasionally lifting her head up to glance at the other kids, heavens some were really fast! She wondered if there was a spell that would actually conjure a boat all together without working for one but her wand didn't work, well that's not true. Her magic was still fuzzy.
She got the base done now, well a base for a small boat that fits her and maybe someone else with her same body size or smaller. She doubted there were smaller since she was small, so somebody her own size. Hmmm.
Whistling, she started to give her square shaped base a vertical lift, on one side.
Arya nodded her head in agreement, but inlike her friend, she did not start looking for a tape measure. Pulling out her wand she twirled it between her fingers as she marched around the old log. After a moment, she jumped on top of the log, standing at the edge of one end and aiming her wand at the roots stretching from its end.
They would have need for them that she could think of, she the badger began to cut the roots off. Her eyes briefly flickered to her friend, wondering what she was doing. "What are ya lookin for?"
Aha!
After a bit of rummaging around where the glue and canvas was, Ivory raised the tape measure triumphantly in the air.
"This!" Smiling, she brought it up to the trunk and stuck one end of it where her friend was cutting the roots away. "Oooh good job," She exclaimed as she noticed what she was doing. "Scraggly roots should be the least of our problems now."
Pulling the tape until it reached the 9 feet mark she grabbed her wand and made a slight cut on the right measurement. Setting it down, she aimed her wand more intently this time, with the purpose of cutting through the wood cleanly.
"Diffindo!"
It took a few times but eventually the spell cut straight through leaving her with the task of using the spell mildly a few times to leave a sort of blunt tip for what she hoped would be the front of the boat.
"There we go.." She said smiling, glad at their progress. Eying the root -less trunk, she brought up her wand again."Now we can both take turns gouging out the hollow area..."
And so began the tedious task of casting Defodio again and again until there was enough room so that they could both sit comfortably.
Selena was proud of herself. Hahaha. She had managed to make two oars... without magic... and without hurting anyone. She looked up from her work and saw Diggy. Selena gave him a bit of a sheepish smile. "Well... I'm already in a group," she said as she motioned at the people around her, "but if they all don't mind, I'm sure you can join us," she said with a smile as she glanced at everyone else. Yes??
He nodded, he didn't want to intrude if she were already in a group. He didn't have to do everything with his girlfriend after all. "No its alright. I can find another group." He took her hand and gave it a soft squeeze. "Good luck," And then someone bellowed his name.

Ark party (aka Chez, Legend, Jack, Sho, Brinkley and Raiden)
Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict
Grayson had turned to look at Professor Lainey with wide eyes as she'd called Brinkley and Raiden over, like they'd gotten in trouble for something. She was fairly expert at knowing that tone, even though she also usually knew how to get out of it. But first, the focus of that tone of voice needed to know what they were getting called on. And as far as she knew, neither boy had done anything wrong. Unless Brinkley hanging on Sho was wrong, and Raiden trying to get them together as a group.
As such, and especially since beyond Professor Lainey's comment about the girls being the brains, Grayson wasn't sure what to do, she'd sort of glanced at the sail supplies idly. They needed to know where to start, and Sho and Jack hadn't apparently done anything. So she sort of looked at the sail, as she also tried to keep an ear on the professor talking to the boys. Potion stuff? That was something she understood, but she was fairly certain a prefect wouldn't have dosed another student. So it was all weird. But then, in her distraction, she heard Legend talking. Or, calling her dirt kicker more accurately, and she looked over at him and Chez the big Hufflepuff with narrowed eyes. It seemed they'd gotten something that looked like a boat together, so she sidled nearer. Besides, if she heard that name again, she was going to give Legend something else to think about. But they'd started talking abotu decorations, and she stopped glaring a little. "Why don't we just use that charm Professor Carlton taught us? The color-changing one. I mean, if it can change fabric, maybe it works on wood too. Unless you see paint anywhere. And I'm sure between all of us, we can figure out the sail thing," she said, examining the boat a little as she spoke. At least it looked big enough for all of them. They just needed everyone else to give their opinions.

Kylie nodded at Marie's suggestion. It probably would make more sense to move them all first.. BEFORE binding them in place. She took her wand out, glad she'd finally gotten it back. After all the panic of wondering where it was...
Regardless, now was not the time! IT WAS TIME TO WORK!
Kylie began moving the logs into place with Marie, she wasn't EXACTLY sure she was doing it right, she was basically just copying Marie.
"CAPTAINNNN CRUNCH!" No one would get that but her, but she thought it was hilarious, "Are we doing this right?"
"That I learned to brew on my own, under my father's supervision, Professor." They had learned it with Kazi though as well, if he recalled correctly. But it didn't seem to matter, because Professor Lainey was goinggggg.
Why would she tell Brinkley that Raiden could have slipped him love potion? BLINK. BLINK. Why would he be carrying that around on his person? Raiden had no use for such things. Bewildered, he watched the professor as she walked off before turning to look at Brinkley.
"...I don't carry love potion around with me." Because it was apparently necessary, vital information. "They freak me out a bit. I'd rather they stay away from me completely."
Ever since History of Magic with Professor Truebridge... yeah. He'd been very anti-love potions. They were crazy-making.
"We... should... probably get back to work." Before Legend and Chez decided to kill each other or something, who knew what they were up to now. Rubbing the back of his head, completely nonplussed, the prefect turned and wandered back toward their group.
Nia, apparently satisfied that she could make a canoe style vessel that could float, had got back up and was now studying the lumber. She wanted one of a decent width, so that with any luck, she could fit in. Else she'd have to build a seat on top. None of the tree trunks left were overly wide, so Nia took the largest she saw. Well, took was the wrong word, she levitated it to an empty work space. No way was she strong enough to carry the thing herself.
And now to shape the thing. Good job she could use magic, because this would take a LOT of work. And the magic would take a little of the physical graft out. Hmm. With that, she took her wand and started to shape the bottom of the canoe. She sliced off the bark (aesthetic reasons) , and then curved the ends upwards at what she thought was a suitable angle. A little at a time. Because in no way did she want to make a mistake and have to start over.
She stood back, admiring the work so far. Okay. It was basic. And currently she had nowhere to sit and it was hefty and whatever, but the shape of the bottom was getting there. Just a few more tweaks, and then maybe she coud flip it over and make it more boat like. And as she focused back on her work, Nia hummed a bit too.
"NUH UH. Do I look crazy?" WELL? DID SHE? Probably, but she wasn't stupid! "YOU two get your happy lil rumps on your own boat. With me watching, supervising, and all that. If you two can both do twenty jumping jack on each side of the boat - and not flip it, sink it, destroy it, or otherwise end up in the water - then you pass inspection." Lainey waved her hand at the naughty pair, waiting for them to go on and hop to it.
Daisy laughed. She loved this class. She went to the boat and before doing any jumping jacks checked for leaks. she nodded in approval and the started on the jumping jacks. She walked to the stern and did ten. Noting bad happend. Nothing bad at all. She walked to the bow and did ten more. The only bad thing that happed was that she almost fell. What could she say she had two left feet sometimes. "Well I know the boat won't sink with ME on it."

Eli grinned. Did he want to join in on Gold's Epic Raft? Did a hippogriff have wings? YAH!
He nodded. "It IS. And I'd love to help!" he ran over to one of the logs and tried to pick it up, but it was kind of heavy so it didn't move much before he had to put it down. He felt a little embarrassed, asking the professor how to do a simple spell. He knew his charms and other wand stuff was really really bad.
Gold would probably be willing to help him out.
"Gold? Do you know that spell for moving a tree? Would it work on a log, and if it would can you show me how? Or should I just use wingardium leviosa?" He knew how to levitate stuff, but he'd read that there was another spell for moving trees and he wanted to know how it was done. Mobili-arbor or some such thing. But he was scared to ask the professor.
Daisy laughed. She loved this class. She went to the boat and before doing any jumping jacks checked for leaks. she nodded in approval and the started on the jumping jacks. AND he didn't almost fall. He stood next to Daisy and smiled in a ha-ha I'm better than you way. "Are we good professor?"
Simon smiled as he continued to build his little boat, he was having fun. "Professor what do you think?" Simon suddenly asked as he tied a piece of string to his boat, he was getting really excited, he couldn't wait too test it.
Jacob had made sure each knot was firmly secure at least twice... he kind of lost track which one he had checks. But again saftey first. So even if had check check twice, he still needed to make sure.
