HoM at the Lake Lainey marched her class down to the lake, then around it to the far side. From this vantage, they could see the castle. This was the area the first years sailed to school from their first arrival. The water was a bit deeper on this side, which would serve their purposes. There was lumber, ropes, and canvas scattered in different piles. There were lawn chairs, glue (for the younger students that hadn't mastered sticking charms - or just for funsies), and oars. "TODAY class, we're going to sail the lake! Please assemble yourselves around me, around here, no one trip over anything. Do be careful, do be careful. Move around here and listen up!" |
Sailing? Oh joy! Professor Lainey always had the most interesting activities for classes. He was still failing to see where this related to magical history, but he had full confidence in Lainey's abilities to fit it in somehow. |
Selena moved over to where the professor was. Oh. They were just going to sail? That was much better than actually swimming. She moved close. Looks like they were going to be building a boat. |
Chez walked up behind Lainey donning only the swim trunks, and crossed his arms. The water looked cold, and he didn't know how to sail. ... as long as he wasn't in a boat with Chosen he really didn't care. "You have any stuff for fishing?" He asked, scanning the water. Maybe he could catch a Grindylow, and stuff it in the Gryffindor bathroom. |
Following the Professor with the rest of the class Legend could only think about one thing. It was cold outside. Sure it wasn't really winter anymore but it was only the end of March. And therefore. It was still pretty darn cold. Wrapping his arms around himself the Gryffindor frowned. So they would be sailing? COOL! He had sailed a couple of times...of course that was in boats with motors. Not like canoes or anything. "Why do we need swimsuits for this? Can't we just like...wear....clothes?" |
Did Professor Lainey say don't trip over anything? Well that was ironic "But Professor I've done that twice already, there's no guarantee that I will do it again" she giggled before watching where she was going and not letting herself get distracted by anything. Ooo.....Sailing the lake. This sounded fun. But where was Oliver? Gah she couldn't have another HoM without him? Or Spatulaclaw!!! Gh last time was so fun she needed them to have more fun again! |
Simon walked down too the lake and smiled. "Cool are we going to have a race like Oxford and Cambridge have?" Simon was excited, he hoped they would like have house races that would be a laugh, but he doubted it but no matter what they did he was so going to sing row row row your boat. Simon looked at the Professor. "Professor am I allowed to sing row, row, row boat?" Simon wanted too sing a different one but he doubted he would be allowed too. |
Leilani followed around and stood in front of the professor. Eh, as long as they weren't doing anything that required hand-eye coordination, she'd be fine. And of course, it was most likely that they were. So she was pretty much screwed. Sigh. Why did she have to be so uncoordinated??? |

Wait. Did he just hear that wrong? Sailing? On the lake? Hm. Interesting. Jay's never been sailing before, but was totally up for the challenge. |
With all the questions everyone kept asking, Jack was convinced that the whole class was missing the point of the lesson. Which was feeding Celandine Toussaint's weregoat, Celandine Toussaint's ~ruined~ bathing suits, other undesirable people, and maybe Celandine Toussaint herself if she kept on yapping about unimportant stuff like designers and their designs. Really, she was certain this was the point of the entire lesson. Jack made a mental note to question Christian over the summer about the importance of designer's clothes, and what was the difference between a normal and non-expensive one (like the bright yellow one she was currently sporting and clashed horribly with her equally yellow hair, NOT that Jack was aware of this) and an extremely expensive and fancy one that could probably feed a family of four for at least a month. Lightly rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet, Jacqueline eagerly waited for Lainey to talk about... sailing. Since she'd never done it before in her life. |

For acting like he hadn't wanted to go at all, Sho was surprised at the amount of haste Brinkley employed to get her out of the castle and with the rest of the students. Soon they stood before Professor Lainey, by the lake...and she was telling them they were going to be sailing?!? Sho turned to Brinkley and grinned. " This...will be awesome." She proclaimed quietly. |

His heart beat raised a fraction. Chez had not met a SINGLE girl since he'd transferred one. OK, no. He'd met one, but that was all. Almost like a ninja, he made his way to the immediate left of her. Crossing his arms, looking at to the lake (he DARE NOT make eye contact), he coughed. Hoping that maybe he stirred a reaction he pressed his lips together and his green eyes drifted. "I'm guessing you don't know how to sail either?" Bad assumption? Maybe? Meh, oh well. |
x__x lol missed so much. The only thing Raiden could think as he followed the other students down to the lake was that he. should. have. worn. a. tee-shirt. He hadn't even thought of that. So... like... he had no shirt. Because if it was swimming or anything like that, he wasn't wearing his school shirt in. It had been his own stupid fault to wear his swim trunks under his school uniform. He glanced at his wand, strapped to his arm, and briefly considered conjuring one. However... well how much use would it be if he ended up soaked? He'd just be colder. Ehhhh. Eh. It was better this way. He'd be fine. It was okay. So, he ignored it, and wandered over near Sho and Brinkley, his eyes on the stuff that the professor had assembled just off the edge of the cold water. Sailing. Oh joy. |
Cela was pleased with the provided swimsuit. It was cute and she totally worked it. She'd summoned some sandals, a short sarong and some oversized sunglasses from her dorm, three items which apparently had not yet felt the wrath of the weregoat, and then followed the class down to the lake, rocking the moviestar look. Oh whee! chairs to sit and sunbathe in! And point and direct and oversee from! She'd channel Daphne a bit, Cela decided. Especially after all the weregoat stress. |
No, it would not be awesome. He didn't tell Sho that directly, instead he tried smiling for her benefit, his hand still cupping her elbow. Brinkley's smile was more of a grimace than a warm gesture. His olive eyes took in a blond head ahead of him that he recognize. He would, after all, since Brink spent a lot of his school years staring at the back of heads. It was Jack Jack, the Ravenclaw--who was now having some Hufflepuff giant invading her space. Good luck to her. Brinkley was starting to form a scenario built in with dialog about Jack's situation. The red-headed puff would grunt and point at her clavicle and say: 'Lookit, I found a pretty. HEH HEH HEH.' Then Jack would giggle, flick her hair and go: 'HEHE HEH I AM THE PRETTY.' Sounded absolutely plausible. Brinkley chuckled to himself before he felt a shadow fall over him. He frowned and turned his face to question the invasion of his space to spot.....Slytherin Raiden. "Please tell me we're not sailing...." |
You all. Yep. =D For quite some time now, Jack had been tugging at the small ruffles that clung to the ends of her bathing suit. They were a BIT IRKING, but not irking enough that she'd felt the need to--ooooh, someone was addressing to her. Someone. A Boy. And a Hufflepuff one, too, if she recalled properly. Hufflepuffs were no good, Jack was certain. One of those no goods? Fletcher. He was funny, but just IRRADIATED trouble and... lots of other stuff. Jacqueline gave him one of her rares, guarded looks, before smiling a little bit, because he didn't look TOO bad. As in, he didn't LOOK like would steal her stuff and ride into the sunset with them like the Fletcher kid did. "Nope. Not at all. I know how to swim, though, and Barty and I go a looooong way back. We are practically best friends!" Except not really. But whatever. OOOH. "Brinky! SHO! And... Nameless Slytherin Prefect with pretty eyes!" Jack positively waved at them all, and then answered Brink's question. "We ARE. Isn't that FUN?" |
Sail. Sail. We're going to sail. Daisy was so thrilled. She had been sailing in five years. she couldn't wait. She stood around witht he other students and smiled brightly. |
So they were going to be sailing today, huh? Well, that wasn't so boring. Not that she anticipated something boring from Lainey, but there were worse things they could be doing that Lainey would think could be 'fun.' Upon seeing objects that made it appear as though they would be building their own boats, Becca headed over to someone she knew - in this case, she very casually stood next to Cela, even though she let the weregoat eat her pillow. Yeah, she would get over it soon enough. Probably. |
This looked exciting!! Chris gazed at all of the supplies strewn out across the lawn by the Lake and couldn't help but look at it curiously as he went to stand by the Professor. He could feel the sunlight warming his back and the grass being all spongy in between his toes. He wondered exactly what it was that they were doing. |
hehe Crystal, Ama, Ameh, Angie . . . Grayson had sort of trailed everyone else out to the lake, but as she got there, she eyed the shipbuilding things before sidling over near Sho and the Gryffindor. And the Slytherin prefect boy, but he hadn't really seemed to have some sort of thing against her. At least, he was being all possessive over Sho. And when her interest was piqued, it was like a challenge. Not to mention she was tiny enough she wouldn't get Gryffindor-boy's notice until she wanted it. She could wait to talk to Sho too, as she listened to Professor Lainey. But her shiftiness failed as she heard the Gryffindor's comment, and she giggled a little. "Nope. Professor Lainey said we were sailing the lake because we were just going to stand here," she said, amused by the tone of voice. This could be fun. And someone else had joined the fun too, and she giggled again at the comment. |
Er. Why was Brinkley asking him. Raiden knew just about as much as he did. Which was... well yes. Lainey had said they were sailing. So yes. They were really sailing apparently. He nodded, not looking extremely pleased about the idea either. He was, however, more concerned about the whole... boat. Thing. They were apparently making them? Which worried him, because one could not trust younger students to not hurt themselves when asked to do something practical with large objects. ...did that Ravenclaw girl mean him? "...hello..." Right. That was totally polite. Raiden half-smiled and looked at the girl. "Raiden. It's Raiden. And... who are you?" |
Oh Professor Marie followed the professor and the rest of the class down to the lake wearing her very cute green swimsuit and wrap. She was ready for some... Sailing? "I thought we were going to swim," she said to no one in particular. Looking around the area she seen different piles of what looked to be materials to build rafts. She looked over to the professor, "Um Professor... are we going to build our own rafts to sail on?" If they were maybe that's why they needed the swimsuits... you know in case their raft sunk and they had to swim back to land. |

"What did you ask me?" Lainey pulled her towel up, clearly scandalized. Quote:
SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH. "Legendary Leg One. Are you going to question everything I do? Do you know me at all? You'll save breath and oxygen if you just do as I say, I think? Besides, one never CAN tell when I may shove you in. Then you'll be quite thankful that I one, made you wear a swimsuit, and two, taught you to swim." Lainey picked up a blade of grass and threw it at him. Of course the wind carried it off well before it got over.. there. But. Well. TAKE THAT. Lainey laughed and climbed on top of the pile of wood. "Like Whatford and Camwho? RACE? This is History, Simon. Everything we do is relevant to history," OBVIOUSLY, so what was this racing thing about..? "But of course you can sing." Quote:
"You are a PSYCHO!!!!!!!!!!!" Or a psychic. Seer person. Freaky, all the same. "ALRIGHT. Listen up, children and young adults, and the rest of you. As I stated, we're going to sail across the lake. First, you lot will need to divide up and build a boat or two. A raft. You need a vessel that will float and get you from HERE," Lainey pointed to the shore they were standing on, "TO THERE," the opposite side of the lake. "You may use magic... you may use each other.... you may build a perfectly normal muggle boat. It's up to YOU. If you wish to sail and work alone, you may, if you want to work in a HUGE team and build a BIG raft - that too is acceptable." "Questions? If not, go ahead and get started! I'll be in my lawn chair over there." Lainey pointed to where her chair was sat up, where the waves came to shore and she could soak her feet in the water's edge. OOC: We're going to boat build for a while. Please don't sail across the lake until Lainey has inspected your boat. But get in the water if you want, build, test, whatever. Just don't.... SAIL across yet. |
my fronds Chez' green eyes blinked twice. Then three times. Oh, and then four. She was giving him some sort of an x-ray with her eyes. He looked to the right hesitantly. "Barty." He repeated, and thought on it. "Is that... a human? Or, what?" This girl was... different. Chez couldn't explain it, definitely not in his house for that matter. He hadn't seen her in the common room at least. AND, she was talking to other kids their age now. Some of the ~cool ones too. She was probably ~popular and stuff. Chez crossed his arms and looked at the Gryffindor kid with an involuntary blank stare. "OH, yeah. Should be fun. I mean, I'm sure no one has a clue to what they're doing. At least the Professor looks good." He concluded with a sigh. Now they had to build things. At least Chez had experience with these blue collar sorts. |
All of youuuu. Being herself, Sho noticed Raiden and immediately smiled over at him before turning her attention back to Brinkley. " I think we are!" She said, getting bouncy again. Sailing on the lake! There was supposed to be a GIANT SQUID in that there lake too. Sho was highly curious and keen on exploring, if she could. However there might be rules that frowned on such behavior. Those thoughts were interrupted by a girls voice, which upon investigation turned out to be Jack. Waving at her, Sho turned to Brinkley. " I think she called you Brinky. It's kinda cute. " She said, giggling a little at him. Bouncey bounce. Eying that Huffie who was talking at Jack, Sho paused. Lips pursed, she leaned over towards Brink. " I don't know him. But he seems...suspect." She whispered conspiratorially. |
