Maybe Masterson would handle it and she could go to sleep sooner than planed. "You can come too if you like." He was welcome, so long as he didn't try to justify what Lafay did again.

"Maybe." Sabel responded quietly. Maybe the man had a louder voice behind a door than in front of it. But really, behind and in front were the same things.
With a heavy sigh, he gave Arya a gentle squeeze with his arm. He had promised, and he didn't break his promises. So, maybe the best thing was to try and keep his mouth shut. Oh yes, because that would work wonderfully.

Sabel let out another sigh. "Arya...if Kellen doesn't want to come, he doesn't have to. I think we've all learnt, there's no point in forcing someone to do something they don't wish to." He gave Kellen a small smile. "Plus, you know you have his support whether he is there or not. And you have his cupcakes, whether he is there or not. All will be well."

A grin crossed his face at Kellen's enthusiasm, one which wavered slightly at Arya's words. Blinking, he looked down at her, watching her silently for a few short moments. With a small sigh, he reached down and gently cupped her chin, turning her eyes up to meet his, a gentle smile crossing his lips. "You know I will go with you Arya. I promised, and I keep my promises. And I would never abandon you or any of my friends, no matter what."
His grin widened a little more, raising one hand and pointing a finger in the air. "Which means, we musn't abandon the cupcakes." Picking one up lightly, he gave a small nod and looked back to the girl in his arms. "I'll share one. If anything Samwise, we must have leventies."

All this hugging was a little unusual, at least Kellen thought so, but he was glad they were going to have some cup...cakes...
Sabel was referencing that book again. He could tell. Since the going trend seemed to be holding the chin, Kellen got up and walked across the distance between them, copying Sabel's motion to Arya. Very calmly, he informed his friend, "Sabel, if you do not stop slipping these references into your speech, I will shove a cupcake so far up your left nostril that your brain will taste the frosting. Do you understand me?" | |

A broad grin crossed her face and a stream of giggles escaped her lips. Obviously she wasn't taking Kellen's treat seriously, found it rather amusing she did. She looked up at Sabel. "I think he's serious Mr. Frodo."

For a moment he just blinked at Kellen, numerous thoughts running through his mind that made his lips twitch in soundless laughter as he considered his options. "Perhaps we should rename it, Lord of the Cupcakes." He mused to Arya before patting Kellen's hand that held his chin captive. "As for you, Lord Icing, I do not think it wise to offer my brain such a direct stream of sugar. Unless you want me reciting lines fully."
A broad grin split across his face. "But I do have one question for you, before you decide the fate of your eardrums. Why the left nostril cousin? Why not the right, or both?"

"How do you figure my left nostril is smaller than my right?" Sabel reached out and gave Kellen a quick jab in the ribs. His smile turned to Arya who was laughing. Or rather the suppressed giggles of laughter that wished to break free. In any case, it was a good sign. She would be okay.
And then there was Mr. Masterson, rushing by in a bristle of unwelcoming air. A small frown tugged at the corners of his lips as he watched the man go. Not even a word of how it went, if it went at all. The man was one of few words. With a sigh, he untangled his limbs from around Arya and stood, offering her a hand up. "May as well get this over with."

Gold slowwwwlyyyy stepped up to the Headmaster's seating area. She had memories associated with this place, and the majority of them were definitely not nice. But she needed to bury them and move on, if she was ever going to overcome stuff and stuff.
Not to mention, get a certain assignment completed. This was somewhat a bold step, to be honest. But she had developed a certain fondness for Headmaster Tate, end of last term. She hadn't particularly liked him, at first. But he had managed to win her respect.
AND he had class.

For a moment Kellen's eyes remained glazed over, his brain fuzzy as facts about fertilizer continued to bounce around inside his head. Then he blinked and quickly slapped the magazine closed, standing up and shaking his head slowly at the Headmaster. His face was grave, and his voice low.
"Here is fine. Sir, no doubt you've already heard what I'm about to say from other students. I imagine that members of the staff have brought it to your attention as well. But I feel that I need to add my own voice to the dilemma and urge you to take action. There is a great injustice happening in this school, and I believe this," he held out the wrapped present, "will be a much-needed step in the right direction." | |

Kellen gestured to the scattered piles of magazines around them, "I realize that you're a very busy man, sir, but some of these issues were first released when my parents attended this school. It's not that the topics aren't riveting and informational, but a lack of new materials is hardly conducive to a learning environment."
At this point in time, he was having a hard time keeping a straight face and serious tone, but somehow he managed it, "I've noticed that several titles seem to pop up more frequently than others, especially," he nodded at the magazine in Tate's hands, "Fly Fishing. Since you're clearly interested in the subject, I thought I'd bring you an update. Now you can have different fish to look down the throats of." | |
