When she was finally done, he dropped his hand and let out a heavy breath. His eyes went to hold hers, not unkind and not without sympathy and understanding, though his tone was a little more firm. "Meaning no offense or disrespect Alexa, but stop. Just stop. Stop blamming yourself. Stop holding onto guilt. Stop thinking it was all your fault. Just stop. The whole world doesn't rest on your shoulders and not everything has to be your fault. I understand that there is a need to take the blame for everything, but it is unbelievebaly unhealthy. You want to know who it is that did this, it was Remi. Not you. Him. That's it that's all.
You didn't control your wand or your mind. You didn't yeild to his will. You just didn't. End of story. You were cursed. It's terrible and unforgivable, but that is what he did, not you. He is not forgivable. You are. And you have been. No one blames you. Have you seen anyone point a finger at you and blame you? I haven't. Not to you, not to any of the others that went through it.
Grieve, Alexa. Grieve and get angry. But not at yourself, at him. He was the one that did this. And you can't keep doing this to yourself, you will destroy yourself." And then I will have to destroy him.
He shook his head a little, still holding her eyes. "I am sorry Alexa, I am not saying this to be mean or to hurt you. I'm saying it as your friend. Because you need to hear the blatant truth without coddling. Hate me all you want. But for the love of all that is good, find the strength to forgive yourself. Lexi felt her temperature rise at his words. "Don't you think I have bloody well TRIED to forget all that happened? Do you think I enjoy the fact that even still that maniac has a hold over me? It is not something I am comfortable admitting, but sometimes I feel so angry I wonder...." she trailed off. She wondered if what he had done had effected her so strongly that she would NEVER get past it. She shuddered at the thought. She fought back tears and looked into the fire trying to compose herself.
"I do get angry, I do grieve. Hell I have cried so much that I think I am cried out sometimes and then more tears come. I played terribly in the Quidditch match because I couldn't keep my head in the game. Even something I love as much as quidditch had been tarnished," she said miserably.
She really hated when Sabel tried to be all... phsychologisty on her. It irked her to no end. "Stop calling me Alexa, please. I prefer Lexi actually. I never really liked being called Alexa," she muttered then turned back to look at him. "Do yuou think it is easy to be a thirteen year old girl that has been put under the Imperius Curse and hurt everyone she cared about? Do you think that is something I should just get over and move on from? So you think it is that easy?"

He couldn't simply sit there while his friend cried. Slowly, he reached out and wrapped his arms around her, trying to let her know she wasn't alone; he wasn't about to abandon her just because of what was said at the dance. "You are not a bad person. Not by a long shot. He betrayed you. You did nothing wrong." He rubbed her back a little, trying to offer comfort and some form of strength. "Have you tried forgiving yourself?"

"And you're wrong... I am alone and when Dylan leaves he will go off to pursue his acting career and I will be left behind in a home full of strangers. How is that not alone. Dora is gone, Silas... I have no desire to speak to him, my family are all bonkers, I have no one. Why is that so hard for you to see?" she asked angrily. Even Sabel didn't care about her. No one aside from Dylan cared. Sabel let go of her with a heavy sigh, watching her from the corners of his eyes. It took a bit of will to supress the words of aggitation that bubbled in the back of his throat, but he managed to keep them there, silent. "Your not a nutter. Stop putting words in people's mouths and stop projecting your self image onto other people's point of view. You have no idea what they are thinking. You need to worry about yourself, and your damaging thoughts you are eliciting upon your own person. Not about them."
He felt his fingers curl slightly at her last words about being alone. "Really Lexi, maybe it is hard for me to see that you are so 'alone' when I know you are not. Dylan wouldn't abandon you, he made a good point of that last year and by adopting you, and by Merlin's beard I haven't abandoned you. Or, is it Lexi, that you simply can't see that?"

"Just you know Lexi, with the way you always blow up at me, I do need space to gather myself so I don't randomly blurt out something I will hate myself for, something I won't even mean. I'm working on holding my tongue and chosing my words with better timing. If I didn't want to deal with you, I wouldn't be trying to help you right now."

Lexi sat bolt upright and glared at Sabel this time. " I TRY to talk to people... I try. THat is all I can do. But not trusting people can be an issue in that endeavor, you know," she snapped.

Speak your mind... say what you mean, not what you think Poor Little Lexi needs to hear. I think you are trying to help me because you feel guilty that you couldn't protect me last term... get over yourself and just be honest."
