Aiden stepped thought the portrait hole and strolled further into the common room. There was a nice, small unoccupied table at the side of the room that would be perfect for him to get some of his work done. Not that he was looking forward to it. He lazily threw his bag onto the floor and pulled out the chair before taking a seat. Now... where to start?

I'm not a big baker but i've done my best." Taking the cupcake from Carter she bit into it straight away mumbling "Mmmmmmmm, tasty!"

"Thanks. I'd love one." he said taking the cupcake. He took a bite. "Not bad. I like it." he said.

Jason smiled that he was finally holding her but frowned again as she mentioned Thomas. “What do you mean? And why are you so scared about it?” He asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.
He knew what she was talking about. She wanted to be with him. He loved her so, but.. “I’m with Avery now, and I’m not going to break someone else’s heart. I’m sorry, Reed, sorry for ruining your life and sorry for loving you back when there is someone else in my life. Maybe we can get together sometime, but for now we are labeled as just friends. If Thomas comes here, I will protect you with all of my power and he will never hurt you, ever again.” He hugged Reed and set her down, stepping away.

Well.
Having tiptoed in the Gryffindor common room in the early hours of morning, Gold set her backpack down, on the sofa by the fireplace. It was her favourite, a squishy, super-comfortable one, and she took a moment to breathe in the scent of early morning moisture and old wood and the remains of last night's fire, which had already been converted into fodder for a new one, as she sat down, and placed her backpack on the sofa next.
Then she gathered up the sea glass she had brought along, placed it on the sofa in front of her, and began to sift through it, with her wand. The colours were all amazingly pretty, pinks and reds and blues and browns, and she wondered which she wanted to use, for her runes. Come to think of it, she wasn't even sure which shape she wanted her runes, to have. Well, it was a Sunday, and at least a few hours before everyone else would start waking up. She could experiment, and see what she found best.
Placing a small, round, glass bowl on the table, Gold tipped over a bottle of Sizara's Special Oil into it. Then she took out a glass-cutter, a fancy thing with a shiny, diamond point, and dipped it into the oil. Placing a square of transparent-silverish sea glass on a wooden board, Gold placed the point of the cutter on top of the glass, and started with a run. The glass started to break, and Gold quietly twisted her wrist to get the desired shape.
Nearly an hour later, she had made little progress. She had cut out several, star-shaped 'runes' in a lucid, translucent shade; but they seemed too fancy. She had cut out bean-shaped 'runes' in deep browns and blues, but they seemed too simple. Gold frowned, trying to channel herself into her work, trying to personalize it the way she wanted, and then she looked around, for inspiration. She gazed into the fire in front of her, watching the flames twist upon one other, merry yellow-orange things, and then she had it. She knew what she wanted.
It would be an extremely simple look, though the cut would be harder to perfect, since she was working with glass. But Gold was going to go for it. It was very much what she wanted her rune-set to look like.
Setting aside a huge chunk of sea-glass that was beautifully tinted, a brown-orange texture that came with an embedding of lighter and darker shades in the same range, she cleaned its surface with a flick of her wand, before dipping her cutter into the oil again. Then she set to work, once more, until she had perfected one rune. It was a circle, set beautifully in a range of colours, and Gold half-wondered if she could just duplicate it, for the other twenty-three runes. But magic wears off, and a rune-set in which she had not put a directed effort, she felt, would be of little use.
So she spent the next hour cutting, cutting and cutting; and, when the last rune-shape had been fashioned, breathed a sigh of relief that had little to do with exhaustion, and much to do with inner satisfaction.
The sun had risen, by now. Gold looked up, to see brilliant light streaming into the common room. She placed her lucky, wooden fish on the table in front of her, gently resting the first rune she had cut out, against it. It caught the light and, in Gold's opinion, looked pretty cute. She smiled lightly, before tapping each rune with her wand. "Occulus Aurumum," she said quietly, watching each of the little, brown-tinted circles acquire a glow of golden. "Occulus Soleilium." The tint dulled, to give way to a sun-inspired orange-brown.
Gold clasped her hands together, as if praying quietly. Then she picked up the cutter, scratched out the symbols for the runes, one on each rune-shape she had cut out, and filled up the shaped cavities with light paint. It was starting to get late, and people were beginning to wake up; which was exactly why the sixth year did not wait for the runes to dry naturally. She tapped each with her wand, causing the paint to crust, stiffen and then smooth itself; and when she was finally satisfied with her work, she gently placed all twenty-four runes into the pouch she had made earlier, in Professor Shackleton's last class.
Then, placing the other runes she had made, but not used, into another pouch, Gold gathered up her belongings, vanished the bowl of Sizara's Special Oil; placed the glass-cutter in its case, which she gently dropped into her bag; and, having collected everything she had brought along, rose to her feet and returned to her dormitory.
