Ellie nodded. Obviously you have to know the kind of magic. She knew that.

So she just nodded. What was she supposed to say?

"So, that's what you do? Do you like it?" Again, obviously she liked it or she wouldn't be doing it, let alone try to recruit young students as well.

"Oh that sounds cool. Does Arithmancy have anything to do with it?" Jackie asks. "I've always heard it does. Is it a fairly hard job?"

Femlok smiled; this one was smart. "Yes you do need Arithmancy, I believe it is a NEWT level you need if I'm not mistaken. You also need some DADA obviously because you need to know the curses/hexes you're dealing with." she paused shrugging slightly, "Things are much more difficult for humans than they are for goblins. We don't need as much education as you do, once we finish school we just do our own thing." well it was true. She remembered traveling through Europe and other countries, learning from the masters.

"It's a fun job, you get to travel all over the world where you're needed. So you need to be good in Geography, but I guess all wizards are good at that." she frowned, now getting a bit flustered. Running a hand through her short hair she sighed.

Selena nodded. That was really impressive, finding all that out. "Uhm... I would love to," Selena decided. She loved games, how bad could this be?

Femlok broke out into a smile, "Excellent. Step on up and pick the item you want. Now the curses and hexes are easy, you just need to figure out which one is which and break it. You do know the spells yes?" she asked, glancing over to Kayla since she had the only wand at their booth. Goblins weren't allowed wands but they did have their own magic.

Selena looked at the items. She picked up a locket. Ooh. Shiny. She really wasn't sure. "Um... what spells?" Selena said sheepishly. She was a first year!! What spells was she supposed to know?

Oh dear, she hadn't expected first years to come to their booth. "Hmm, well they're simple spells, the locket you're holding is, well I'm not sure. Kayla, what spells are on these objects?" she asked, turning to the older witch to her left. Looking back at the girl she smiled, "Don't worry it's nothing dangerous." she reassured her.

Selena blushed. She was making this a whole lot harder... wasn't she? "Oh... okay..." Selena said meekly. She really didn't want to be of much trouble... really... she didn't.

"Excellent" Kayla said smiling at the girl in return. "So I guess I better tell you a bit about being a cursebreaker then huh?" She lent up against the table and folded her arms across her chest. "Firstly the subjects I suggest you take during your years at Hogwarts, would be DADA for sure, Charms, Transfiguration, Ancient Runes, Potions come in handy along with herbology, COMC is a good idea as well you often come across magical creatures when you're searching for treasure. An OWL in Arithmancy is also required."

Phew! When you stopped to think about it, there was quite a lot involved in being a cursebreaker and that's before you even finish school.

"Once you have graduated and as long as you have a pass in all your subjects then you can apply for a job at Gringotts. They then give you on the job training. You will learn how to determine the difference between real treasure and a fake one. It takes about a year before you actually get to go out and search for treasures because you need to know how to spot magical barriers that have been placed on and around the treasure you are hunting and then how to break through them. When you're not traveling the world then you will be required to work at the bank usually making the security in the bank is up to date."

Kayla took a breath and grinned at the young girl, "Would you like to see how a Probity Probes works?"


"Yes I am a cursebreaker" Kayla replied with a grin, the pride evident in her voice. "And I love it. Mind you it's a lot of hard work and extremely challenging but it's what I have always wanted to do and I wouldn't want to do anything else."

Well she actually did do other things besides cursebreaking but that was not something she could share with ones so young.

"So would you like to know what is required to be a cursebreaker? And what subjects you need to study while at Hogwarts?" No point in going into her spiel if the girl wasn't interested.

Turning at the sound of Femlok's voice, Kayla wore a slightly mischevious look on her face. She was slightly tempted to just let the girl open the locket and let the jinx hit her. But she was only a first year, so she wouldn't be mean.

She would save that for the older students.

She moved over to the young girl and gave her a reassuring smile, "It's a simple jelly-legs jinx and it will only take effect when the locket had been opened."

Kayla removed her wand from its holster with an imperceptible flick of her wrist and held it at the ready. "Now tell me, can you see the traces of the jinx I have placed on the locket?"

He had truly missed Kayla. Seeing her was just really one of the day he'd been looking forward. Well, it was just mainly because Kayla was the person he knew from his very first year so it was like he felt she was his big sister or something.

Ced noticed a hint of awkwardness from Kayla when he asked about her family. Clearing her throat--that is. He didn't know what was wrong and all but he genuinely wished that Kayla would definitely surpass all the hard challenges in life and it should not deter her from living happily.

He smiled as she talked about her son and said, "Ooh! Your son is a one lucky little kid. Father? Cela's brother is here? I haven't meet your husband/boyfriend yet. I'll wager that I should pay a visit the Potions' booth."

Not married? Was that a joke?

Ced looked at Kayla curiously but did not bother to ask about the thing that made him wonder a little. Single. That just meant Kayla and her husband broke up... recently broke up. Aww.

He perked up as Kayla asked him concerning with the curse-breaking job; he knew what she was doing and distractions were always made of win. "I like hearing that job and all. Well, it has to deal with Arithmancy, right?" He paused for a while then continued, "Arithmancy is really one of my favourite and strongest subjects but I think I have a much stronger bond with Herbology.. So yeah, I planned to pursue a career in the field of Herbology and/or Horticuture."

But he was still interested what the curse-breaking job was all about so he started forming questions. "How's it like being a curse-breaker? Aaaand don't ya think it's kinda.. sort of freakish to be always working with the goblins?" He merely whispered the last part of his question seeing that there were a goblin in the booth and wouldn't want to be told that he was prejudiced against their kind; honestly, he had no problem with their kind. It was just that... you know.. their looks.

Maddie smiled.
'It's a good thing I like school then!' she said, grinning at the woman 'That sounds like a really great job...' then she stoppped 'Um, I'd love to see how it works... but what is a Probity Probe? I'm muggleborn, I haven't a clue what a lot of things are...' she smiled apologetically

Ellie nodded.

"Yes, of course." she said with eagerness.

Femlok smiled, reaching out before stopping herself. She knew that humans didn't like to be touched by goblins for some reason; it wasn't like they had cooties or whatever the humans thought they had. No goblins were very clean creatures, much more so than normal. "It's alright dear." she replied in a calm voice smiling.

She noticed the michevious look in Kaylas eye and grinned along. This should be interesting she mused as she adjusted herself on her stool. she decided to listen and see how Kayla did things; every cursebreaker had their own way of doing things and Kayla was no exception it seemed. Her wand was beautiful though, and Femlok was still annoyed she couldn't have one. She'd have to ask later if she could hold it, pretend she was a human to enjoy the experience. "Thank you Kayla; I figured it was a jelly-legs curse." she said in a slightly sheepish way.

Well at least Cedric was being tactful and not peppering her with a thousand questions as to why she was no longer with Nico. Kayla wasn't sure she would be able to explain what had exactly happened anyway, it was a culmination of a lot of things.

"I'm the lucky one" she corrected as she gazed at Michael sitting on his father's lap. "He's the best kid in the world." And anyone who tried to tell her differently would have to answer to her.

Turning back to Cedric, Kayla looked at him with interest. "Horticulture eh? What exactly do you plan on doing? Kinda like crossbreed different species of plants and create a new species?" Herbology had never been one of her strong points. She knew enough to distinguish which plant was which.

Kayla nodded eagerly at Cedric as he talked about cursebreaking. "It is an awesome job. I get to go to different countries around the world but of course most treasure is in Egypt so I tend to spend a lot of time there. It's fascinating though. The things you see down in the tombs..." She trailed off as her gaze followed Cedric's and she turned back to him with a frown on her face. "I don't have any problems working with the goblins" she shrugged her shoulders, "I merely see them as little people."

What was it with people and goblins?

Reaching under the table, Kayla pulled out a long, cylindrical type looking rod that is silver in color. "This is a Probity Probe. It's used to detect magical concealments." She held it out for the young girl to take.

"Just wave it over my body and if I am hiding anything then the probity probe will grow warm in your hand and it will start to glow."

ooc: She has a dagger under a disillusionment charm, strapped to her left calf.

"Okay then" Kayla said, all serious now. "First off the subjects you will need to study are DADA of course, Arithmancy, I would also suggest Ancient Runes, Charms, Transfiguration, Potions come in handy as does Herbology and I also recommend COMC. You wouldn't believe the amount of creatures you come across."

She chuckled softly as she remembered at how many times she had been bitten by a creature she had disturbed. "Once you have graduated from Hogwarts then you apply for a job at Gringotts and let me tell you, the goblins aren't particularly fussy about who they employ so long as you bring the treasure home. But you will receive at least twelve months of on the job training before you go out into the field."

Kayla stopped to take a breath and grinned at the young girl, "That's where you are taught on where to search for treasure, how to spot magical barriers that have been placed around the treasures, such as the differences between curses, jinxes and hexes and then of course how to break through them" she paused for a moment and chuckled again. "Sounds like fun huh?"

Noticing the look of longing on Femlok's face as the goblin looked at Kayla's wand, the woman reached down and took out her spare wand from her ankle holster. She straightened up and held it out to Femlok, "You can hold onto this one if you want. My grandfather gave it to me before he died."

Kayla shrugged her shoulders, she saw no problem in letting the goblin hold it for a while. "Just...don't blow anything up okay?"

Ellie laughed in her head. The nice cursebreaker lady probably would have been better off naming what classes you shouldn't take.

"Yes, it does. And a lot of work. That all makes sense, though... Have you found much treasure?" she was pressuming 'yes' but that was better to ask than 'how much treasure have you found' and having the answer be 'none'.

THIS looked like an interesting booth too! Gringotts employee or cursebreaker? Both sounded like good jobs to Vashti. Snatching a pamphlet, she quickly read through it, trying to decide which one she would like more. Because seriously, they both sounded great! How in Merlin's name was she supposed to choose only one career when there were so many awesome ones to choose from?!

Femloks eyes widened as she took the wand, holding it tightly in her fingers before nodding, "I won't. Wow, a wand." she breathed, her eyes glistening. She had never held one, though she knew the spells it could do. It sure looked old she mused, raking her eyes over the wood, seeing the many years do use in it.

Looking back up at Kayla she nodded, a seriousness in her voice, "Of course not." she replied turning to see if the girl needed any help.

She turned her attention to a new girl and smiled, placing the wand in her other hand as she gestured to the table. "Hello there, my name is Femlok, are you interested in working for Gringotts?" she inquired, her face calm and composed. No need to show everyone how truly excited she was to be here at Hogwarts holding a wand.

Ooh, a goblin! Cool! Vashti had always wanted to meet a goblin! Well, not always, but the thought had randomly crossed her mind once or twice before. "Nice to meet you, Femlok!" she said with a bright smile. "And yes, I am, in fact. Um..." Hm, what questions should she ask? "What sorts of classes do we need for it? I'd guess Muggle Studies might be one?" she asked, glancing at the pamphlet. "Since it says here that you have to communicate with Muggles and I don't think you can really do that without knowing stuff about them." Although it wasn't like they'd have to discuss much other than money and stuff in a bank. Hmm.

Kayla nodded her head in agreement, "Yeah it is a lot of work but rewarding as well." At the girl's question, she let out a small laugh. "Well I have found some trinkets that have been of some value but I haven't brought in a big haul as yet." She had watched others do it and wished that she would hurry up and find some.

Giving the girl another smile, Kayla waved her hand at the table. "Would you like to try your hand at some of the activities?"

Watching the way the goblins eyes lit up as she held the wand, Kayla couldn't help but grin. Nice to know that she could make someone happy.

She glanced over to the potions booth and wondered if she should head over there and take Michael off Nicholai's hands? Their son got bored very easily and tended to get quite vocal when that happened.

Femlok beamed; clearly this girl loved Goblins, or she wasn't afraid of them like others had been. Which was good for her since she didn't want to scare anyone. "Well beside Muggles Studies you'll also need DADA because you need to know the hexes and curses you're dealing with. Also Charms is another one, Care of Magical Creatures because sometimes you just might get a creature in there..." she trailed off, remembering that instance fondly. Getting back to the matter at hand she nodded, "Yes, knowing some things about muggles is very important, it's best to know as much about them as possible." she replied nodding. This girl was smart.

Looking over to Kayla with another smile she noticed her looking over to the potions table. Leaning over to her she whispered, "If you want to go over and get your son I can handle things here for a bit." she glanced over to the booth again and smiled. Ah young children were so adorable she thought.

Ellie nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah, sure. Please." she said, getting all excited. So many activities... she wondered if she could try them all. Though, she thinks she know the general idea of a probity probe.

"Excellent" Kayla said and clapping her hands in excitement. "So what would you like to try first? I can show you how a Probity Probe works or how to tell the difference between real gold and fake gold orrrrr you could try your hand at breaking through the simple hexes I have placed on that treasure chest over there." She turned and looked at the girl expectantly.

"Thanks Femlok" she said and giving the goblin a grateful smile, Kayla headed over to the potions table.

She returned a little while later with her son sitting on her shoulders. "Sorry I took so long, got caught up with a friend." Kayla reached up a pulled her son down off her shoulders and placed him in front of Femlok. "Michael, this is Femlok. Say hello and be nice." She gave her a son a warning look.

Michael looked at the goblin with open curiosity on his face. "Hello" he said brightly and then as though he just couldn't contain himself he continued to speak. "You have big ears" he announced clearly pleased with himself for the astute observation.

Aw! Little booth lady's son was so cute! Speaks the truth, too. Ellie liked that. Goblins did have big ears, after all. Kinda. Well, they weren't the most attractive, anyway.

She looked at the lady and said, "Well, probity probes are easy. right? They just glow or something when they find something suspicious, right? And I'd like to know about real gold versus fake," Could come in handy, see? "And I'm hungry to try that," she nodded towards the chest, "That would be fun, though I have no idea how to begin." Yup. So basically, anything but the probity probes. Those were boring. Yup.

Vashti nodded as she listened. DADA and Charms - yeah, that made sense. CoMC too? That made sense too. Weren't there some dragons guarding some of the vaults in Gringotts? Or was that some other place she was thinking of? Hm. Well it still made sense since it was quite possible a family might bring one of their pets with them because they might be going to or coming from...whatever that shop's name was that sold animals in Diagon Alley. The name escaped her at the moment.

"So what about if you're a Muggle-born?" she asked. "Like me. Would I still need to have Muggle Studies since I've lived with Muggles all my life?"
