Alexa spied Sylan slid into the meeting and smiled slightly as she moved closer to where he stood. She mouthed to him Watch me. As she slowly twisted the wand in her fingertips. THat was as far as she had gotten... she wasn't going to attempt the flick until that felt a bit more natural.

Scanning her list, Arya searched for another spell to exchange for Disillusionment. "How about.....mimblewimble? Glancing up from her list she listened to Truebridge answer her question before writing down his response in her notebook. Thought the spell didn't defend her in the way she had hoped, it still seemed useful. "So it won't hold you in place from an explosion, just protect you from the debris? Gotcha." She scribbled down a few more notes. Quote:

He demonstrated it again with the wrist flick.
"Try that now, and don't worry if you drop your wand, just keep practicing until it doesn't feel so new. Nothing like the wand movements for the spells she already knew. At first she just twirled her wand between her fingers, watching it twirl as she focused on the spell at hand.
After one more twirl to have her wand facing the right direction, she atempted to roll the wand between her finger tips at normal speed. The wand didn't even roll once before it made its decent to the ground. Catching the wand in the air, she sighed and studied the dark wood. It felt wierd rolling it instead of twirling it, so unnatural that she almost didn't want to try it again. But she did want to learn this spell, already knowing how useful it would be.
Sighing she tried again, this time slower than before. The wand droped again, and again she caught it mid fall before continuing her practice.

After listening and watching to the demonstration of the Professor Dianna started to practice.
She tried twisting and rolling the wand with her fingertips but so far it just fell.
"Professor, can you estimate how long this armor will last on us? I mean will it stay longer if we get better at it?" Dianna raised her hand as she picked up her wand from the ground.

Hmm. The movement seemed easy enough. She slid her wand out of the holster and twirled the wand between her fingers once. She sighed and tried out movement. Twist in the fingertips, then a flick of the wrist. She did the movement easily, it was easier than twirling a pencil when she was bored.

Lexi continued the twisting motion through her fingertips at a slow pace as instructed. She felt more comfortable with that particular motion now and so she tried the flick again.... FAIL. This time, somehow, her wand shot up into the air and actually knocked her on the head. WTF dude.
She wasn't going to lose faith though. If Truebs believed she could master it she could... probably... Putting her game face back on she scooped her wand up off the floor where it clattered after bonking her on the head and slowly twisted her wand through her fingers and flicked in total slow mo just to see how the movement felt. Hmmmm. Tricky indeed.

Dylan watched what Lexi was doing. What was she actually doing? "Umm what are you doing? Is the aim to hit yourself on the head? Because if it is, that is a random spell." What was the spell even? "Do we have a spell name? Like an incantation or anything?" he whispered.

" Professor Truebridge said to practice the wand movement first because it is complicated, actually. It is a self armouring spell, brat," she said a little annoyed as she rubbed the top of her head and scowled at him.
She again tried the twist and flick and AAAAAAAllllllllmost had it when the wand flitted out of her hand once more and flew toward Dylan's head. Heh. Maybe it would smack him and she could have a little giggle.

If she was having issues with just the twisting, she was bound to have a harder time with the addition of the flick.
Picking up her wand, she attempted it again. This time, she slowed her actions and attempted to twist it slowly and then flick it. The wand shot up and over her head, landing behind her. She probably wasn't really ready to attempt a flick just yet, she reasoned. Picking up her wand again, she tried the twisting again and again.
She needed to get one part down before she could even think about trying the next part. One step at a time, she told herself. "You'll get it. Just keep working on it." It was one of those movements that became quite natural after a while. "You can even practice that twisting and flicking with a quill or a muggle pencil if you need to." Quote:

The twisting part was a success, at least at that speed.
Beaming at the Professor she tried it once more, this time speeding up a tad. Well... that worked out okay as well. She would practice the twist a bit more before trying to move onto the flick. "Better." Truerbridge commented. Quote:

Scratching Salvio Hexia, Cave Inimicum and Meteolojinx Recanto off her list, Gold looked up expectantly at Professor Truebridge. Oh. Gold had a bunch of ideas, about how she could creatively use this spell. Maybe she could find someone to discuss them with, later on. For now, though, she was going to practice the wand movement. She sat back, watching Professor Truebridge's demonstration, before trying out the wand-movement, herself.
She twisted her wand, right "in" her fingertips, and gave her wrist a swift flick. The tricky part, she found, was flicking the wrist, right as you rolled your wand into your fingertips. Because that meant one had two focus on two, separate actions at the same time. Two or three tries later, however, Gold had the hang of it. She hadn't managed to perfect it, but she knew she would. She had faith, in her own abilities.
Which was actually a very good thing, because not many other people had. Faith in her, that is. "No rush to finalise your five. I'll have a look later if you still can't decide which." Truebridge told Gold. She'd likely do well regardless of what she chose. She was one of the top 6th years in the subject after all.
"Good. You're getting the knack." Quote:

Taking out her wand, she quickly wrote down the wand movement in her notebook before looking at the wand for a moment as she usually did. Yup, polished and pretty as always. Now, to try this out!
It did not go unnoticed by her that people were struggling with the movement, so, best to just take it slowly right? Right! Holding the wand up, she tried the first step which was rolling the wand in her fingertips. Which, was definitely proving to already be awkward and difficult to do. Why did these spells need such complicated movements?! Why not just point the wand, and say the spell. Actually, that would have been a good question to ask the Professor if she had not already been absorbed in concentrating on doing the wand motion right.
Thinking that she almost got the hang of the first part, Evelyn decided to add the flick at the end the next time she tried it. So, rolling through the fingertips and flick!
Oops.
Scrambling for her wand that flew out of her hand, she caught it before it hit the ground, thank Merlin, and went to sit back down on the bench. Okay, so gripping it more would be a good idea. "Keep trying, you'll get it." Truebridge encouraged. Quote:

Kate saw Professor Truebridge´s demostration carefully. This is like playing with a stick, like muggle cheerleaders and soldiers haha Damn it! I´ve never managed to do it right... Damn wand movements!
She tried to do the movements but every time (like 5/6 times) she dropped the wand to the floor.
She picked up the wand for the 7th time from the floor and stood there, watching the others, learning, muttering something about talent and unfair... Truebridge simply shrugged. He cared very little about the semantics of Quidditch, simply because it wasn't a wand sport. "There is a broom game which this spell might be useful were you to master it." One that involved wands, thankfully. Quote:

Now, let's keep it up.
The boy continued to twist, and then the flick...while the twisting part was getting better and didn't feel new to his fingers, the flicking part proved to be a nightmare, ironically.
But, he was getting better. Slowly, but improving. Grin. "Good, you're getting it." Truebridge nodded. Quote:

No worries though, she was pretty sure she would manage them..even if it took her a while. Practice does make perfect! She nodded to Truebridge, glad that she didn't have to change her choices. It was hard enough picking those five and she didn't want to pick anymore.
Heehee. So..when she had this armor shield on, she would have like SUPER punches!? Perhaps she would just have to try it out..probably on Marie, since the girl was annoying. She made sure to write down the words Super Punches on her parchment before she shoved that in her bag as well.
After making sure Marie was a wake by giving the rope a little tug, she pulled out her wand to practice the new wand movement. Fairly simple? Was Truebridge crazy!? That looked like the hardest movement she ever seen! She was glad that the invisible rope was not around her wand hand, since it would surely mess her up..although, if it was on her wand hand, that could have been her excuse for FAILING at this. Twist you wand in your fingertips and flick your wrist. Twist you wand in your fingertips and flick your wrist.
She stood from the bench so she had more room to practice, and to annoy the crap out of Marie, and first started practicing twisting the wand in her fingertips. Yeah, this was anything but simple and she hadn't even moved to the second part of the movement. If she couldn't do the twisting part, there was no way she could do the flicking. Defeated. Defeated by a wand movement.
It took her a few minutes to get the twirling to look even a tad bit normal. Now to flick the wrist.
She suddenly wondered if anyone had flicked their wrist so hard, that their hand fell off. Heh. A trip to the library was in order, she supposed.
Moving on to the next part, Destiny took a few deep breaths, mostly for dramatic effect. She gave the semi-normal looking twirl in her fingertips and then added the flick of the wrist. Well..that didn't work out so well. Picking up her dropped wand, she tried the movement again. Twirllllllll flick!
Yeah, perhaps she would do better sitting down. "Keep trying. Try not to over think it." It was possible. It was something you just did. Quote:

Moving on.
"So, keep practicing the wand movement, but we shall work on the incantation too. When you are ready try them together. Alex smiled at the Professor after memorizing the spell kept practicing the wand movements, once she got it every second time she would attempt the spell she decided. She rolled her around again flicking her wrist keeping this up for a bit until she did infact get it every first try. She beamed glancing around readying to attempt the spell.

This...should be easy! Gah! Frowning, she continued to try to get a hang of the wand movement, finding it becoming easier as she practiced, however, she kept her ears open for what the professor was saying.
Loricatus. Got is. Although, she had to stop for a moment and stare at the professor when he had said there wasn't any dangerous side effects from misspeaking the spell. 'Good to know.' she thought before continuing with practicing the wand motion. Yup, definitely becoming easier. At least now she had the hang of it, and the wand didn't fly out of her hand when she did the last flick at the end.
Repeating the spell in her mind, Evelyn stopped with practicing the wand movement and decided to write down the effects of saying the spell wrong in her notebook before actually trying it. No, she wasn't buying any time from practicing the whole spell...
Or maybe she was. Pfft, it's not like the spell was going to severely hurt them. Just make them feel like a rock!

So the wand movements, they were hard. Why couldn't it be twirl your wand and end with a flick? She could do that with her eyes closed. Catching her wand again she sighed, giving it a once over. Slower than before, she atempted the wand movements again. Dispite her repeated failures, the movements were becoming easier to her. She had made her rolls slower so that she could focus more on what she was doing and a few times she had even managed not to drop her wand. But her grip on the wand wasn't good enough to add the flick at the end, let alone cast any spell.
Her eyes flickered over to Truebridge as he spoke. Exchanging her wand for her quill and parchement, she wrote down the incantation along with the wand movements. Atleast the incantation didn't seem as difficult as the wand movements.
Putting her quill and parchement back on the floor, she picked up her wand and continued to practice rolling her wand while pronouncing the incantation. "Lo-ri-ca-tus......lloricatussss....looooricatus..." She kept this up for a moment or two before just focusing all her attention on the wand movements. Which were becoming easier with each go.

| ♥Dunkin | Pixie's Precious Pea | kpop goddess | sneaky sounder | forever slytherin♥ Raiden was quietly practising the wand movement, his left hand frequently flicking out to catch his wand as it slipped from his fingers. It was... just a matter of getting his grip on it at the end. He was getting better at it, sorta. He hadn't dropped his wand the last few times...
Loricatus.
Right.
Well. Since he had been getting better about not dropping his wand, he might as well try it, right? Raiden gave his wand one more roll and flick, managed to not drop it, and nodded.
"Right... Loricatus."
He immediately felt the slight weight of it pressing on him; he glanced at his left arm, turning it, as if to see if anything was visibly there. It was heavy enough that he'd noticed it, but... it didn't seem to restrict his movement much at all. He jumped slightly on the spot, as if testing it.
Kinda awesome. |

| Atypical Ravenclaw Bookworm // Hair Flipper Pro / / the edgy starbuckian // Hot Messie Mina stopped and turned her attention back to Truebridge. She really did want to get this movement, but she realized she would just have to practice it a lot. Yet another challenge, which she didn't truly mind.
Picking up her wand again, she held it and gave it a few more tries. She wasn't always going to be bad at it, right?
Giving it a few more tries, she managed to not drop it. Yes, it did still feel a bit strange, but she would ge used to it.
Stopping to fully absorb what Truebridge had said about possible side effects. A feeling of being weighed down? Okay, that wasn't all that dangerous, maybe a bit annoying. Shrugging, she attempted it silently in her head as she added the movement to it.
Time for the true test, she just need to just do it. "Loricatus."
Okay that felt kind of strange to her, she looked to her wand hand. Her right arm felt like it was surrounded by a weigh and it was a bit hard to move. She compared it to swimming in the water with weights on. Movement was possible, but it just felt odd. |

| The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas. Just how in the world was he supposed to get that wand movement right? It seemed impossible to do as he watched others attempting to get it done with little success. It seemed you needed to be double jointed, flip your head upside down blink three times then twirl before you could get it right. But, being a determined boy William knew he'd get it eventually. Eventually meaning before the meeting was over. Yup.
Ok, so rolling it between your fingers and then what? he thought pausing in his gazing of his wand to look at the others once more. It seemed he wasn't the only one to sit there looking blankly before trying it. He was a klutz normally, and rolling a wand between his fingers seemed like a task he couldn't do. But he'd try. Holding his wand in his left hand he tried rolling it, and it immediately fell. Catching it before it hit the ground he frowned, trying again. This time he managed to twirl it, but the fat end stuck where the short end should be. Grunting slowly he kept trying, twirling and twisting and grunting and sighing.
Eventually after nearly twenty minutes of twisting his wand between his fingers he had done it without dropping it. Now all he needed to do was the flick. So twist wand between fingers, then flick and say the incantation. Easy peasy Will he thought twirling his wand again in his fingers before flicking it. His hand was getting sore now. His face was so full of concentration that it was going red, his tongue sticking out slightly as he kept trying it out, twisting his wand before trying to flick it. The darn thing kept dropping from his hand, bouncing on his lap before spinning.
Ugh.
Tilting his head he took a breath, his hand loosely holding the wand. "Look I don't like you right now and normally I LOVE you Wandella, but seriously you need to twist around my fingers before flicking, okay?" yeah so he had named his wand so what? Everyone did it at some point right? As if the wand could understand him he attempted it again; this time his wand twisted perfectly in his hand before flicking. "There, was that so hard?" he grumbled. He'd stop trying the movements now as professor True-Awesome - man went on about the incantation. "Loricatus Loricatus Loricatus." he muttered, trying to get the incantation done correctly. It seemed much easier than the wand movement and he kept chanting it, his wand secured on his lap in case he even thought of trying it out.

Alright, procrastinating seemed to be stretched too far now. People were already doing the spell and she...was still writing. Or at least pretending to write.
Setting down her notebook to the side, thinking she was going soft since she was a little afraid of a silly spell, Evelyn picked up her wand and scooted away a little bit from everyone else. She needed room to breathe and concentrate! Practicing the wand motion a few times more, and thinking she got it down pretty good, the Slytherin paused for a moment before trying the spell. "Loricatus." she said confidently with the roll and flick of the wand. She didn't mind the incantation of the spell since she was just naturally good at pronouncing them the first time for some reason, it was the wand movements though that were troubling her it seemed like. Although, there was a slight weight that seemed to fall onto her arm and shoulder after she did the spell, surprising her somewhat.
Moving her arm around to see if it would disappear, she was even more surprised when it continued to stay. Weird. It definitely felt weird too. And it was definitely going to make her arm fall asleep...

Okay. He'd got it now! The twisting and the flicking. It wasn't PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT, but it was alright.
Still, he heard the incantation 'Loricatus', and decided to keep on testing the movement, perfecting it a bit more before trying out the full spell. Although, nothing bad could happen, perhaps he should give it a go.
And...he decided on giving it a go. "Loricatus!" he said, with the twisting and the flicking, and....
....
....
Well, he didn't feel any different.

"You're all doing well." Truebridge looked around. "Who thinks they have the spell currently working and would like to test it out?"
And then he'd let someone try to cut his arm off. In the interest of demonstrating of course.

"...test it out how, exactly, sir?" he asked hesitantly. He trusted Truebs and would always volunteer for anything in his classes and stuff, but...
Hmmm. |

"Well I fell quite heavy Professor. Does that mean I have the spell on?" Dianna asked.

Alex finally attempted the spell roll wand on finger flick wrist, "Loricatus." she chanted, well she didn't feel any different. She tried again, "Loricatus." finally on her fifth attempt, "Loricatus." and her arm felt heavier! Alex was uncomfortable and her arm was now offically very heavy.. Alex personally thought the prefects should be the one to try it out, yep go prefects.

A few dozen wand drops later and she had the wand movements!! It wasn't as good as when Truebridge demonstrated, but it was still good none the less. Not only did she have the roll at a moderate speed, but she also had the little flick at the end. The smile on her face show just how proud of herself she was of herself.
Hmm. He wanted someone to test it out? Arya wasn't the least bit comfortable trying out the spell, she rather just watch someone else. Quietly she continued to master the wand movements while mentaly going over the incantation.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Patroclus Hudson | Professional Twirler Mourned and Missed Drop, Pick up.
Drop, Pick up.
Drop, Pick up.
Drop, scream, stomp, pick up.
Patroclus was going insane, no matter how well he thought he had it, with the flick of his wrist, off went his wand.
He breathed deeply, One more go, the thought to himself. He rolled the wand, and and flicked his wrist, and success.
He tried again, success, and again! He was over the moon, now came time for roll, flick, and incantation.
As he flicked his wrist, Patroclus breathed "Loricatus!" Instantly a feeling off weight over came his wand arm. He was experiencing the sensations of a dead arm, but he could feel it, which was weird. It was an out of body experience, the extra weight of another arm, but only one arm being visible.
Now Truebridge wanted a volunteer, Patroclus went to raise his arm, but his mind tricked him, thinking it was heavier that it was, and !Whack! Patroclus smacked the side of his head. Ouww! |
