As the list was complied Patroclus wished he had being writing all the spells down since the start, he had been planning too, but had been to involved with listening to all the spells his fellow club members were listing.
Luckily for him the ever wondrous Head Girl had done the work for everyone, Patroclus smiled at her as he raised his am, and asked for a copy, “I will have a copy if that’s Okay.”Thank goodness for Celandine, was all Patroclus could think. However Patroclus’ interest was stolen by Professor extraordinaire Mr. Truebridge, when he said they would get to pick five spells to practice. Ohh gimme gimme gimme
Wait they had to choose 5? How wouldthey survive Without Cela? It was maddness that she was leaving next year. The school would probably go into mass chaos without her. Alright Jacob definantly needed a copy. Or he would mostly fail this... even if they didn't get a grade for clubs. He would somehow fail it. "Could I have one?" he asked the head girl. Jacob started to think of which he going to practice.

Laughing a little, Celandine passed one to Patroclus too.

Taking the list from Calendine, Patroclus was amazed by the number the Club had come up with. But now was the hard part, he had to pick only five to learn, from a list that seemed to be at least fifty, or more.
There were a few he was already comfortable with performing; the shielding spells especially after Truebridges latest class, also the water charm, and some hexes. So with that knowledge he lent towards some more extreme offensive spells. "Sir” Patroclus with a smile voiced his opinion, "I personally would like to work on; Legilimens, Expulso, Levicorpus/Liberacorpus, Disillusionment, and Bombarda.” Patroclus was happy with his choices, but was more than happy to learn others as well. He was easly pleased
Pick five? Rae looked down at her list and picked the ones that she could use on really annoying people, then random ones, She wrote them down on the back of her parchment so she can remember which five she chose

Mina glanced down at her notes and then back up Professor Truebridge. They needed to pick five? Seriously, how was supposed to pick just five though. Looking up in thought again, she jotted down her picks. Maybe if she got her choices down, she could work on more.
Raising her hand, she waited to tell Truebridge her choices.
"Then you'll need to choose five of them to work on non-verbally. Over the remainder of the term, you'll practice them and demonstrate the application of them in a duel. If there is anything not on this list that you'd like to choose, you may but I'd like for you to clear it with me first. Choose your five now and then I'll show you something new to work on as well. Then you can all go to dinner." Truebridge told them. "Take a copy of the list, look over it and make your choices."
Gold reached inside her bag, to fish out a notebook and flip it open. It consisted of notes - defense notes, of course - most of which she had jotted down as preparation for her OWL's. Which had, unfortunately, not gone too well. She still had not gotten over how wrong her OWL results were. She hadn't expected better grades; but she also knew that, had she been in more of a right state of mind, after the end of last term, she could have gotten much, much better ones.
Oh, well. She still had NEWTS, to work for.
Flipping open the notebook, she leafed through it, until she came to the list of spells she had prepared. Then she remembered that they were meant to choose from Cela's list. So, taking one of the duplicate copies that the Head Girl was handing out, Gold skimmed through it. Nothing new, there. Well, not as far as verbal magic was concerned. Though, since the start of this year, Gold had been working extensively on non-verbals too, which meant she had considerably strengthened her non-verbal magic, as well. But she was far, far from perfect at that, as of now. So she was going to pick five, and practice them non-verbally.
"Professor?" She raised a hand. "I want to work on non-verbals. Cistem Aperio and the Conjunctivitus Curse. But the other three I have in mind aren't on Cela's list. Slavio Hexia, Cave Inimicum, and Meteolojinx Recanto. Can I work on those?"
She lowered her hand, and eyed her own list of spells.

Arya glanced at the list Cela was passing around, wishing she knew the Head Girl was gonna make a list for everyone before she wrote down all the spells but two. Yes, she was being a bit lazy but she was growing hungry and that tended to make her a little lazy.
Her eyes scanning over her list, she decided what spells she wanted to learn. A small few she already mastered and another few she knew how to cast, but hadn't quiet mastered yet. Though she wasn't here to perfect spells, she would do that in her free time. She wanted to learn new stuff.
After a few moments, she wrote down the spells that she wanted to learn and waited for everyone else to finish.

Raven was not exactly surprised that the Head Girl had come up with a list of all the spells that were spoken of during the meeting, she got a copy of the list then looked at it; hmm some of them interested her considering she wanted to learn something that would be useful especially for this term. But she did not want to learn something that would complicate the fact that she had NEWTs at the end of the term, scanning the list carefully; finally she managed to pick out five spells that she wanted to learn.
It seemed that list was interesting but there wasn't anything that seemed worthy of her time but if she had to pick five then she easily chose the five and wrote them down on a scrap piece of parchment. "Professor, I would like to work on the Conjunctivitus Curse, Cistem Aperio, Frigus, Steleus and Disillusionment. But would it be possible to learn them in non verbal form?" She had mastered non verbals the previous term and was always looking to increase her knowledge to assist in duels.

Taking one of the copies of the list, seeing as she had a hard time writing down all the ones that were being called out, Evelyn took one glance at it...and sighed.
How in the world was she supposed to choose only five out of all of these!?
Blowing out a frustrated breathe to calm herself down, she leaned back on the bench and held the parchment in front of her. Some of these, she already knew and was pretty good at. Especially the disarming spell and leg locker curse. However, there were also some spells she had never heard of.
Taking her time, she read and re-read the list, trying to determine which ones she would like to learn, or learn more about. There was one that wasn't on the list she would've liked to have learned about, but since he said they would be demonstrating these spells in duels, she doubted that it would have been aloud. Finally, however, she started to decide on a few spells, and writing them down in her notebook.
But, she just had to ask anyways once she was done writing down the spells she'd like to practice. "Professor? Would it be acceptable to learn the Defodio spell?"

Nia studied the list in front of her intensively. There were a few she fancied learning, and she knew she wanted to become more accomplished at non-verbal spell-work, so any practice there would be good. She wanted to be a good allrounder - and perhaps gain the use of an eccletic mix of spell that could twist a duel in her favour if used with some creativity and Ravenclaw logic.
There was a spell not on the list though that had haunted her for a good while. Well, since Kazimeriz's final exam with the dementor. Expecto Patronum. A well known spell...and she'd got through the task way back when in her second year?...but she'd never managed to get a corporeal form. In the exam it'd been a wisp of silver that had provided enough distraction, but it had exhausted her. And since, well, she still hadn't done it. It was something Nia had wanted to do for a long time, to see the shape her patronus took, and yet so far it had defeated her. This year, she was determined to crack it. And preferably, she'd like to conquer it non-verbally. Was that possible to do? She didn't know...but she could be very determined, and maybe having extra time would help.
She raised her hand. "Professor, I'd like to do Cistem Aperio, Steleus, Everte Statum and the disillusionment charm." She smiled, before pausing to ask about her final spell. "And I'd like to finally conquer my patronus...if that would be allowed?" She faltered slightly. "It's not on the list, and I know its not really a duelling spell...but I'd really like to be able to cast it properly." And not get my pathetic wispy mist she added mentally.
"Not in this case. Glisseo yes, but certainly Dark magic is not something I can condone and certainly should not be used in any duels on school premises." Not that he minded a bit of healthy curiousity.
"I would like each of you to choose five spells from this list. They should be spells you either do not know or have not yet mastered completely. If there is anyone who considers themselves to know all of these spells," Truebridge might have sent a brief glance at the Head Girl. It wouldn't surprise him. She was very much the little overachiever.
Jake only frowned slightly. "I wwwasn't tttalking about school duels. You jjjjust said 'formal'," he pointed out, not liking the fact that he was WRONG.
Bleh.
As he took the list from Cela, Jake glanced at it, but was too distracted to sit and read. He'd just go from memory and imagination. Raising his hand, he waited for his turn before sayiiiiing... "Sssir, I wanna tttry obscuro and... mmmuffliato. And..." The boy thought again, a pained expression on his face as he tried to think. "Expppelliarmus, ppprotego aaaaand... Duro."
Heck yes. The last one might be a little too hard for him... well, all of them would... but he could dooooo eeeeet.
Everyone else was doing really complicated stuff... eh. Now he felt dumb.

Having put her hand in the air and taken one of Cela's list's with a "Thank you" and a smile to her Head Girl, Sarah studied it intently. There sure were alot to choose from, but she was a sixth year, she couldn't go for the ones that she should already know. That ruled out Expelliarmus then.Scanning the list, her finger tracing each word, she then leant forward and got some paper of her own out of her bag, ready to write her five down.

I really need to try and perfect my non-verbal casting, I'm not as good as I should be for my age."Pout.
Kate approached the Head Girl and asked for a list "Hi Cela, can I get one of those too?"

"Sure." Celandine held one up and offered a smile along with it.
"Of course!" Cela handed the girl one and then did some more duplicates. Then she looked over the list to choose five... which she'd be learning non-verbally.
"Professor I choose Steleus, the finger removing jinx, the sponge knees curse, Everte Statum and Confringo to work on non-verbally." She told the professor, hand up.
Then she went back to handing out copies of the list.
"Alright, I'm sure you can manage that." Truebridge nodded once.

As for Disillusionment, I am more than happy to begin teaching you some spells and techniques but you aren't likely to master it to any useful degree until you are at least sixth year, possibly fifth if you are diligent enough in your studies. Its up to you if you'd prefer other choices to replace them." Ethan informed the young Gryffindor.

Meteolojinx Recanto is certainly fine if you can tell me how they might be useful in a duelling situation. The Conjunctivitus curse and Cistem Aperio are certainly approved."

Truebridge moved to check.
"Alright those are fine, but not non-verbally."
Time to move on then.
"Those of you who haven't yet chosen your five, you can think about it a bit of you like but your choices need to be approved. Meanwhile we're going to quickly cover a new spell, one that I'd like you to all work on in addition to what is on your list of five." With a nod at Arya, Truebridge continued, "This spell is a temporary self armouring spell, one which conjures an invisible armour, which the easiest way to think of it is as invisible plate armour worn close to your skin. It is not permanent, but will withstand many blows, and is particularly useful against cutting, exploding, puncturing or severing spells. You will know, even though you cannot see it once cast, that it is in place because your skin will feel slightly heavy and much like you are wearing an extra layer of clothing." Truebridge drew his wand as he spoke.
"It is harder to cast it over your entire body and it is not entirely necessary to do so; I will be pleased if you each manage to protect one arm today. Before I go over the incantation and wand movement, does anyone have any questions about the spell or observations about how it might be useful?"
ooc: In the duelling sign up thread you may edit your post to add your five spells (please do not make a new post!) I will edit into your post once they are approved and PM you if there are any probs. And of course you are all quite welcome to PM me anytime and you are still welcome to choose while the meeting is running/ask Truebridge about them/answer him if he spoke to you about it in this post.

"As for Disillusionment, you may certainly join the others who have requested to work on it but I do not suggest tackling it non-verbally at this time, it is quite complicated after all." Truebridge told the prefect.

Sarah nodded as Professor Truebridge went through her list.Ohhh, study only for that one? Okay then. And verbal for the other.Mmmhmm.She could handle trying that. "Thank you, Sir.I'd still like to do the Legilimens, even if it's just the theory. It seems like an interesting one to tackle. And verbal is best for Disillusionment, you think? Okay, that sounds good, thank you again." Sarah smiled quickly at the man and scribbled the notes down next to each of the spells. She was actually looking forward to doing it all.
Placing her quill down on top of the parchment, Sarah turned her attention to the next part....a new spell? Cool.At least she thought it was cool, until she heard what it did.Armour? Her mind shot straight back to the History of Magic class, and all the gear she'd worn for that.Surely it wouldn't make them feel the same, would it?
Hand shooting in the air, Sarah asked her question. "Professor...would the 'armour'," finger imitation quotation marks in the air "feel as stiff as regular muggle armour, or will it be flexible?"

Staring at the list of spells in front of her Nancy simply couldn't decide which ones she wanted to practice during the Duelling Club meetings. There were just too many. Oliver would probably say that she didn't have to practice Langlock anymore...yes, very funny. Not. Noooow, which ones to put on the list?!
It was right then that Professor Truebridge spoke up again, letting them know that they still had a little time to decide on the five spells. Phew. Good. Oh, and that they were about to learn a new spell. The description of the spell made her immediately think of their last HoM lesson with all their kitchen utensils-armor stuff. Yes, crazy. Utterly. Whatever.
As their Head of House asked whether they still had any questions Nancy quickly raised her hand. "Sir? I was wondering if that spell only prevents us from spell-effects or protects us in general. Like, if anybody were to attack as physically by tackling us or something, even though that's not allowed in a formal duel, would it protect us too?" 'cause they were supposed to be trained for the real world after all and they might have to duel with somebody at some point who wouldn't care if it was against the rules to tackle their opponent.

"That's fine, Sarah. Theory is always useful in any case." Truebridge answered and then listened to her question.
"Quite flexible. You'll have just as much range of motion as you do normally, the only difference is that feeling of heaviness, which when you first try the spell, can often restrict your movement from the perceived weight. Practice minimises that however."

"Physical too, though you can still be knocked over, something like an arrow or a blade will not penetrate it, at least not until it is weakened or disappears. As a general rule, if you can still feel it, your skin will still be protected from anything penetrating it."

Arya thought about what Truebridge said. Her fifth year was only three terms away, and if she worked hard (which she would), she would have it by then and maybe mastered before she graduated. It would be a ton of work for a spell she wouldn't be able to use for alteast three years, but she was always up for a challenge. "Could I switch it out for another spell," She mused. "but still work on Disillusionment in my free time?"

Arya curiously tilted her head to the side when he nodded at her, twirling her quill as she listened to him speak. A new self armouring spell, she sure could have used that last term. But he didn't know that did he? Hmm. Her eyes flickered over to Destiny as she raised her hand. "It would be useful if someone exploded an object that was near to you. But would it be able to protect us from any exploding objects or just certain types?"

"Not non-verbally but yes you may work on each of those spells." She was really too young to make much headway non-verbally.
"All right, Professor...but, Is it THAT hard to do them non-verbally? I know I´m young..but I can work hard" She said
SPOILER!!: Prof´s reply #2

Kate raised her hand "Profesor, Can you fly with this "armour" on? I mean...with brooms..."
Raiden had tuned out a bit. Really, it wasn't the professor's fault, or anyone's really, it was his own. He'd had energy earlier, but the lack of sleep was catching up with him now; four hours had not been enough. He was listening to what was going on, but he hadn't really comprehended much of anything. Except that there was a list of spells, and they had to pick a few from it to work on.
Hmmm.
"Professor, can I... I'd like to try Expulso, Bombarda, Everte Statum, Deprimo, and... Histedius. Non-verbally." That would be a lot of blowing things up and tossing people around, wouldn't it... But still. He'd managed to get his spell to bend around Lina, but it had been not easy, especially when compared to the way she'd done it, right after.
New spell? An armour one? This would have been useful before History Of Magic. And this sounded like it would've done wonders for both him and the professor last term. Better late than never. He half-flinched at Evelyn asking about Defodio, but didn't say a word. Just because that had been the spell to hit him... didn't mean it wasn't worth her learning, right?
