Mina smiled and nodded. "Of course, you know I've been looking forward to this for days!" She had a feeling this might be the highlight of her term, well one of the highlights that is.
Glancing around the room, she only noticed a few people. More people would show, she told herself. Come on who wouldn't want to be part of the club. Everyone could use a little help here or there. If she needed help she was sure there were others that did too.
Looking back to Patroclus, she smiled. "So, you still up for helping me later with my duelling?"
"I suppose we better get started." Truebridge nodded in greeting at each student who came in, his eyes pausing for a brief moment on two of his Slytherins who were... attached to one another.
Alright then.
Moving on.
"Any of you recall what we covered last term in relation to duelling? Please share what you remember for the benefit of the younger students."
ooc: I don't mind if you RP coming in late. Its not a class so, go for it. And again, I don't mind chatting as long as you're still participating.
The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas.

But now for the dueling lesson. Glancing back at Truebridge he frowned; he had missed last term completely so he had no clue. Hopefully someone else did...

Alexandrie glanced around, being a first year she didn't know as she wasn't here last year.. She hoped someone would speak up, she wanted to know the interesting things from the previous club.

Mina glanced around and noticed that not many people were volunteering, so she raised her hand. Maybe if she started the ball rolling others would join in. "When duelling, there is a Code Duello needed."

Raven chuckled slightly after William's introduction, so he decided to follow suit with what she had said. Though his introduction was a little more ego laden than her own, considering it was like he had presumed that she'd heard of him before when in fact she had not. "I must say William, for a Ravenclaw; your introduction sounds more like a Slytherin introduction. 4th year huh, interesting." Smirk. You can talk big but better have the actions to back it up.
Duelling lesson? Oh merlin, she had completely forgotten everything from the previous term; it seemed to be replaced by random plans.

Arya skiped into the dueling classroom and glanced around as she took a seat. She couldn't believe that she was late, but running around on the grounds tend to make a person forget things. Popping a stick of gum into her mouth, she tried to recollect what had been taught to them last term before raising her hand. "We talked a lot about the rules for a duel, a Code Duello. Like the limits of a duel, how you know a duel is over, and what a second is."

Sidney hurries into the dueling area. She still wears her yellow bandana from potion class. Sidney hasn't had a chance to wash the yellow out of her hair. "Hello, Professor Truebridge. She catches up with what's being going on. "Sir, we learned last term that the term duel refers to two people who engage in combat with match weapons. There can be many reasons for a duel taking place."
Mina smiled and nodded. "Of course, you know I've been looking forward to this for days!" She had a feeling this might be the highlight of her term, well one of the highlights that is.

"Of course!" Patroclus replied with a huge smile, "thats what friends are for!" And after all they were team PatrocoMina!

Patroclus had missed Dueling club last year due to constant family dilemas (so far this had been the most he had attended Hogwarts ever), so he was unable to reply to Truebrigde, and for that he was ashamed, because Patroclus really wanted to impress him.
Mina glanced around and noticed that not many people were volunteering, so she raised her hand. Maybe if she started the ball rolling others would join in. "When duelling, there is a Code Duello needed."
"Good Mina, thanks for bringing that one up." Truebridge answered.

"Limits are important, as are completion points. And we will have the option of having seconds for our duels this term" Truebridge nodded at Arya.

"Thank you yes, a definition is always useful and certainly there are always plenty of reasons to duel, both historically and in a contemporary sense. To reiterate; A duel is generally defined an engagement in combat between two individuals with matched weapons and may occur for several reasons. In the modern magical world, formal and judicial duels are rare but though practice duels are a common method of developing skill with offensive and defensive magic. The object of a duel is to disarm, injure, outdo or kill the opponent, depending on the rules and limits decided upon before the confrontation begins. Any battles between witches and wizards may be considered a duel, regardless of how many participants there are. However, the greater the number of participants and factions, the less likely a Code Duello may be followed.
A Code Duello is a set of rules for a one-on-one combat, or duel. Codes Duello regulate duelling laws and limits and help prevent duels from escalating into vendettas or feuds. Codes Duello often provide assurance that a healer may be on hand at the completion of a duel and allow for the participants to stipulate limits where they are needed. Witnesses are usually called for in a Code Duello in order to so that testimony may be provided if authorities become involved and to be sure the duel was executed fairly and in accordance with the agreed upon limits. The number of paces the opponents take from one another is governed by the Code Duello. As a rule the graver the insult, the fewer the paces agreed upon. The Code Duello also regulates the point a duel may be considered completed." Truebridge offered.
"Completion points include; Disarming the opponent, First blood, Disabling the opponent or a fight to the death. Some common limits include; No physical contact between duellers, a ban on dark magic, No unforgiveable curse, A stipulated length of time a duel may run for, an allowance for replacement wands, and allowance for a second, a specific spell list, a specific number of casts, an allowance for use of other weaponry and of course duel location."
It was up to them if they wished to take notes, as it wasn't a class, it wasn't a requirement even if the information was beneficial. He paused to allow the information to sink in and for any questions to be asked of him.
Alex quickly took notes on what the Professor was saying, It might just be useful in future years she realised. Alex then glanced up eagerly waiting for what the Professor would say next.

Evelyn, had no clue what was covered in the lesson the previous term considering the, situation, she was in. Glancing around at everyone who was speaking though, she mentally took note of a few things before paying attention to what the Professor was saying.
This time, she actually did take her notebook out and pencil so she could take notes. Important stuff this was! Sorta. Most of it she knew of, but it never hurt anyone to write it down. Unless, writing stuff down hurt someone...

Mmmhmmm.
Treyen listened (while nodding a lot), his only focus was Professor Truebridge, and as a second year he surely missed quite a bunch of things on his first one.
No wonder he couldn't get his spells right in DADA.
Quickly Noir pulled out her parchment and quill then started take notes on what Professor Truebridge was saying..she put her quill down and waiting what Professor Truebridge would says next..

Grayson nodded as Raven spoke of plots, ideas and the like. "We'll need to talk about it sometime. Maybe not here, though," she said, with a mischievous smile that bordered on cryptic. She was totally up for more of the "certain something"s that their little partnership could develop, along with anything she could think of herself. But she'd been distracted lately, by trying to teach herself Potions, and everything else, so Raven's ideas were better. Not to mention the seventh year had four extra years on her when it came to experience for said ideas. She only hoped she was as creative as Raven was when she was a seventh year. But plots were better discussed when there weren't quite as many people around.
But then William had spoken, and her thoughts of plots were shelved at the revelation of why his lips were glowing green. Giggling, she responded. "So it was a cupcake thing? Awesome." She wanted to know who came up with that idea, and how she could use it herself. But maybe William wouldn't want to tell her, although she had a feeling he enjoyed the notoriety of having a glowing mouth. And then he started talking to Raven, and Grayson started looking around again. Their conversation was amusing, but there was so much more she could pay attention to.
Like Professor Truebridge starting the discussion, and she found herself trying to pay attention as other students were talking of codes and everything. She thought she could remember all of that, especially since she didn't feel like digging past Draco in her bag for parchment and a quill to take notes. It would just have to wait til later, if she thought notes would be necessary. At least the discussion seemed straightforward.

Raven knew already that it wasn't wise to speak of her plan around here especially since there were plenty of other students not to mention her head of house around to hear what she was saying. Her hazel eyes scanned the area to see if anyone was paying attention to what she was doing and when she saw everyone had their attention on Professor Truebridge; she knew the coast was clear. "Meet me in the dungeons tomorrow.. I'll explain everything then." she said in a low voice so only Grayson could hear what she was saying.
Of course she had every situation planned out in her mind, for a brilliant Slytherin; she knew that there was a high possibilty of someone intruding on their conversation or eavesdropping which couldn't be allowed.

Yay! Dueling club was in full swing and Rhea finally managed to sign up this year. She got to the door of the defense against the dark arts class room and peered inside. Oh no! The meeting had started and she wasn't inside, drats!
She slipped in among those already there and listened in on the conversation. Ah yes dueling. She grinned. Her first time in the dueling club and she couldn't wait to get started. Of course they had to do theory first and apparently thats where she caught them. Nice, ears tuning in to students and professor now.

Gold had been quiet, so far. The sixth year was in the kind of mood to sit on the floor, rest her head against a wall, or maybe hug her knees close to her chest, but she felt more attentive when Professor Truebridge started speaking. Of course, basics there. Familiar territory. Gold was usually better at the practical side of subjects than she was at the theoretical one, but Defense happened to be one of the subjects where she found herself at perfect ease with both. Which was why his talk wasn't even slightly difficult to grasp. Of course, it might be that she already knew all of this, as it was mostly a recap for [Gold guessed] the benefit of the newer students.
She drew a little stick figure on her notebook and gave it cute, super-curly hair, but her mind was completely focused on what Professor Truebridge was saying, not missing so much as half a word.

Still focused on Professor Truebridge, and the discussion at hand, Grayson found her hand snaking into her bag to stroke Draco's fur. It was almost an unconscious move by now, but at least it should keep him quiet for longer. She wasn't sure how the professor would react to a white ferret running loose, and she knew that if he thought he was being ignored, Draco would do just that. So petting was necessary, and at least she wasn't having to worry yet about doing other things.
But then she heard Raven speak, and by the tone of the older girl's voice, she both knew the statement was for her and that it was supposed to remain secret. Which was fine for her, since it all made everything that much more fun. Nodding slightly, she spoke quietly. "Okay." She could manage to not attract attention, when she wanted. Just like she could get it if she wanted.

Ella sat near to the back of the class taking notes of everything that Profesor Truebridge was saying. She had never been in a Deulling Club before and had no idea about.. well anything. She knew some stuff of course, the basics. After putting a full stop at the end of her sentence, Ella sighed. Phew, that was a lot of informtation to write down.

Whoa... who knew that so many rules, regulations and stipulations went into a silly wizard's duel? They sounded kinda cool though, so Fletcher rested his hand in his chin and paid close attention.
