Occupations for people interested in Divination? There was such a thing? Still rubbing her eyes, Evelyn finally placed her hands in her lap and blinked a few times. Ugh. They hurt. "Tea leaf...interpreter?" she asked more then said to the Professor after raising her hand. That was a job right? Or, that was something in divination right? They did interpret tea leaves last lesson, so perhaps someone did it for a living.

Simon looked at the Professor. "How about a fortune teller?" He wasn't sure about the answer, but it was the best he could come up with.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Carin narrowed her eyes as she thought. What could one possibly do if one was interested in Divination? She'd always assumed it was just one of those things everyone had to study in school, and afterwards you could either become a poorly paid Seer or teacher of Divination or... something. "Assuming you don't mean Muggle related jobs, Professor," Carin began, with a scathing look at her classmate who had suggested Muggle Psychics, "I guess it would depend in the branch of Divination someone is interested in. Say that you also have a passion for animals, you could breed spiders as well as conduct Acromancy, I think it was called. Same thing applies to someone who likes flowers - Flormancy, or something like that, so you could open a flowershop with magical flowers, sell and breed those as well as practice divination with them."
All right, so there was a big possibility that she messed up the terminology in her answer, but she couldn't remember precisely every single word she'd read. And she was pretty sure she got the general idea there, somewhere.

"Well... for those of us who aren't as adept at Divination, yet still find it interesting, there's always the option to go into the business of making and selling the items needed for it."
Crystal balls didn't make themselves, and sometimes divination required specific items for certain things. If you enjoyed something so much that you wanted to be involved in it even though you were bad at it, that was probably the best way to go about it. |

Abby raised a hand into the air. This question was so generic. "They could enter into research," she said. There was a gazillion books out there about Divination. Where else would the information come from? "Specifically, narrowing down the meaning of different omens and signs, maybe."

"Professor perhaps you could work in the Magical Creatures Department in the Ministry and work with Centaurs, interpreting and reading their signs. You could also work in the Ancient Runes feild as well." they did lots of furture readings in that class, the Head Boy remembered them at least.

"People who have a special interest in just one form of Divination often go into one specific area and offer readings to both wizards and muggles alike. It isn't a very stable job however--and I'm speaking from experience--since muggles and wizards are both skeptical of people who supposedly have the 'gift' of foresight. That's for another time, though," he said, waving it off with a brush of his hand. He didn't want to start a debate right now about whether or not Seers were legitimate. Quote:

I suppose if you were really good at giving facials and manicures too that's definitely an option!" he said with a grin. Hehe. Now he kind of wanted to go to a spa. Quote:

Finally someone had gotten sort of close to some of the answers he was looking for. Not that the previous answers weren't good but they were missing some of the less obvious ones that were right in front of them if they looked hard enough. "Yes, a good example of thinking outside the box, Head Boy Potter! Centaurs are known for their divination skills and one could always study their methods, even if they are a bit reluctant to share any information with mere humans at first," he joked with a grin. It all depended on the centaur, really. "Can anyone think of any other jobs there might be? Perhaps other positions at the Ministry?" he asked, referring to Chris' answer before.

At this he chuckled, because he thought of something grandpa used to say at home, "Well, perhaps as an adviser to the Minister itself" because sometimes Ministers like to consult with the occult, and other times the decisions were made merely out of whatever the Seer advised.
He said this after raising his hand, of course.

Ellie raised her hand slowly. She wasn't even sure if such a thing existed anymore. After what had happened there over 70 years ago... "You could... prophecise, Professor... For the Hall of Prophecies..." she said, equally slow to the hand she raised, with a questioning tone to her voice.

Celandine was sitting there quietly. Unusually for her, she had no paper or quill for note-taking, she simply sat with her hands folded in her lap.
She was tapping her fingers against the palm of one hand nervously. A job? A job relating to this stuff? She sighed a little and raised one hand tentatively.
"A writer on See... the subject." That was the best she could do. She didn't know if it had already been said and didn't much mind if it had. She was kind of shutting it out. Lalala.
No. She could do better than that. Her hand stayed up and she added, "After all there is a lot to cover. Divination is a broad subject and much of it actually influences plenty of aspects of our society without people even noticing that it does." She cut herself off as if she had plenty more to say.
Hand down. Stare at table. Weird. One part of herself wanted to be all Ravenclaw and answer the question in great detail, the other part wanted to go hide.

Dianna listened as the Professor stated his next question. She didn't know what else to say so added more information to what her classmates previously said.
"Uhm, they could work in the hall of prophecies and uhh.. Add more prophecies, right?"
she said as she lowered her hand.
"But is it possible for them to work in the International Confederation of Wizards?" Dianna asked as her hand shot up into the air yet again.

Tapping on the desk Joshua remained silent, which was a rare moment for him, as he listened to the other people's answers to the professor's question. Actually he liked the divination lesson because he could make fun out of it by seeing the i-am-very-interested expression on people's face when he pretended to read the future of the person. Hehehe. Maybe it was a little bit of a girly thing yet it was fun.

Hmmmm. Jobs using divination in the Ministry... Patroclus was stumped. He drummed his fingers on his desk. His brother worked at the Ministry, if only he got send him and owl and ask him.... but then again his brother was never all that good at Divination, so Patroclus doubted whether Prometheus would even know the answer.
Gingerly rasing his hand, Patroclus ventured an answer, "Sir, they could work as a member of The Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, where they could use Divination as a method to measure fall out from incidents, for example, Using tea leaves foresee whether the future holds problems for the Secrecy Act, after a Muggle witnessed accident."
It was a stretch, but at least it was an answer.....or was it?
