Miranda was quite enjoying herself and was happily being swung around...though she wasn't quite sure what the flappers her feet were doing. They weren't stepping on Brant's feet anyways...or, atleast she didn't think she was. Heh!

But, suddenly there was someone besides them...and asking her for a dance? "Oh," It was Chris! He was sweet, "Yes, ofcourse, young sir." Snort. And she had to curtsy again ofcourse. Giving Brant a smile, she gave his hand a squeeze before releasing it. "I'll see you around, Captain." With a wink, Miranda turned to Chris.

"Just a warning," Blush. "I'm not that good with dancing and all that...so...I apologize in advance if I...step on your toes." And he was another Quidditch player. Again, thank goodness they didn't use their feet to play.

Vashti was nearly about to doze off when suddenly the music stopped, and she jerked her head back up. Eh, was it finally time to leave?! Crud, it wasn't. Apparently they were supposed to change partners...so maybe she'd get a partner this time. She half-hoped she wouldn't, as she still wasn't eager to embarrass herself, but she was dead bored just sitting here. Shifting in her seat, she glanced around, wondering who'd become partners this time and what music would play next.

She wasn't nervous anymore once Diggy started dancing, or to be correct lead her around in a so called watlz. She didn't know to waltz, so she expected him to have all the right moves, and she was young so she didn't think she had to know them, it wouldn't be a big deal if she didn't was it?

"I'm a first year" she answered trying to hide her surprise, she told him that before. She didn't mind him asking again so she shrugged it off, "you're a fifth year right?" she asked.


Abbi's hand clinged to Diggy's shoulder unconsciously, it wasn't easy for a girl to find a dance partner to begin with! Sighing she looked apologetically at Diggy, "thanks for asking me to dance" now she had to go check out that invisible person again.

Chris took Miranda's had gently and bowed slightly to match her curtsee. They had this under control. Hopefully she knew how to dance, because Chris had a feeling that the only reason he was doing ok before was because he was with Gold who made him look good.

Annnnnd great she couldn't dance either. This should be fun. Chris took her hand in his and placed the other on her waist and took the first steo forward and she needed to step one back. Then suddenly the image of her beating that poor peice of wood with a hammer from Muggle Studies class flashed into his mind. Oh no!!! He was going to be that wood!!!!

"So how have you been Miranda? Are you excited for the Ball?" he asked her curiously, trying very hard to hind the nervousness in his voice as he waited to be hurt by this girl.

Aw, haha, he bowed. This was fun. Snort.
But she didn't really get a reaction from her confession of her lack of dancefloor experience. If that was good or bad, she had no idea. BUT, when he placed his hand on her back, she totally knew that she had to put her own on his shoulder. Right? Because Brant hadn't told her it wasn't so.

One two three, one two three, one two thr- Oops. She accidentally stepped on his foot when he took the first step, even though she was actually LOOKING DOWN AT THEIR FEET. Crap. "Sorry about that." Grimacing, Miranda quickened her step to start again and hopefully no feet-casualties.

OOoooooooooooooooooone- "Oh, I've been...okay." Akward grin, still looking at the feet. He had been at the board beating lesson, no doubt. "Just...trying to make time for everything. Heh." Um, yeah. "The ball? Well...yeah, sort of...kinnda, yeah? I mean, it's going to be fun. Yeah." She was going with Brant. Aw. "Just this whole dancing thing that's going to be tough..." Bleh. "How about you? How's the Head Boyness going?" At this, Miranda looked up and grinned at Chris, eager to hear how he had been doing.

Obligingly, Cela offered up a curtsey for her imaginary partner and selected another.

Lots of options when you made them up, see?

Perhaps dancing wasn't so bad. They seemed to be getting the hang of it..somewhat. There were no toes stepped on yet, so that was something.

"More complicated than this?" Not that what they were doing was complicated, just..weird. Hopefully they weren't going to learn any of these complicated dances, it would just be weirder. As they turned, Destiny got another glance at Marie and Carter. Marie seemed to find something VERY amusing, and she had a feeling she knew what it was. Resisting the urge to give her friend a very rude hand gesture, she watched her feet move instead.

Yeah, they were moving and all.

At the mention of Cela, Destiny's eyes automatically searched the room for her. Spotting the Head Girl, she giggled a little seeing that she was dancing by herself. "Yup, she looks like she knows what she is doing!"

Uh-oh.

Destiny had forgotten what the next step was. "Umm.." she glanced up at Raiden, hoping he was paying enough attention to the steps when the music stopped.

Removing her hand from his, she gave the Prefect a little elbow nudge, "You can go ask her now!" she nodded her head in Cela's direction.

Mwahaha!

Time to try to escape..again.

What? They had to switch partners? Whyyyy?

"Thanks for the dance." he said with a smile to Marie. He then looked around. Who could he possibly ask to dance? And who did he feel comfortable dancing with Marie? His eyes first found Mina and Evan. He'd like to catch up with her some more... but he really didn't want Evan dancing with Marie.

His eyes then wandered over to Destiny and Raiden. Yeah, that'll do. "Shall we go switch partners with those two?" he asked.

Mina smiled and nodded. Yes, they were doing quite well. If only it was going to be that simple once they finally got to the ball. A set of jitters formed in her stomach at the thought that she still needed to find a date. If only it was easier to find someone that she was comfortable to be around and not feel awkward. It would be a waiting game, she just knew it. Shaking the thought from her mind, she smiled and looked back to Evan.

"Not hard at all, but who knows what will happen at the Ball when we are with our dates." she replied. Dancing with friends seemed to be okay, but with dates might be different. "Well, if you want I can tell your date on your behalf, that you are rather the good dancer and she had nothing to worry about." She was pretty sure that Evan wouldn't have much trouble finding someone to go with, he was after all a year above her and was rather handsome. Yes, he'd have a date for sure.
Turning her head as she heard Vindictus, she smiled and curtseyed politely. "Do save me a dance later or maybe at the ball," she smiled as they parted way. Turning to face the others, she glanced around. Okay, who would she dance with now?

Alex mentally rolled her eyes as the Professor finally told people to switch partners, she still was sitting out, happily, she knew how to dance after all, only reason she was here was because if her mother found out there had been dance lessons and she hadn't went she would be grounded for two months as soon as she got home. So she laid back wondering what dance the Professor wanted this time for people.

So, Treyen laughed, what was he supposed to do? "Oh! I assumed he was older" for some strange reason. So, Ellie was like his sister, or at least will be growing up like her, with a very young brother to...take care of? Yeah, she kind of did. "I can see why he's not coming, considering he's never been to Hogwarts" oh, how much the little fellow was missing!

The Hufflepuff eyed the people circling around the Great Hall, "You guys do? I bet it'll be brilliant to be part of it, I'll make sure of getting my timetable done when practices are stable..." which were going to be soon enough? Yes, Miranda? Yes. Oh! And there was his Captain!

By now, Professor Vindictus said to change partners...but he wasn't dancing, so, that didn't apply to him, did it?

Tiberius! He remembered Tiberius as soon as she spoke of Treyen supporting Ravenclaw, his face brightened up, "I did last term, I had a friend playing for Ravenclaw! He...I don't know where he went, but he's not in Hogwarts anymore" nor was Aaron, "I actually did a lot of cheering last year, considering I forgot to attend tryouts...resulting in me not making the team" but that was ANCIENT history, right? "But, I'll cheer for Ravenclaw, and you'll cheer for Hufflepuff...deal?" that sounded fair enough.

NOOOOOO!!!!

Marie didn't want to change partners. She liked the one she had just fine. It's not like she would be dancing with anyone else at the Ball so why did she have to dance with someone else here?

"You're welcome, it was my pleasure," she said with a half smile when Carter thanked her for the dance. She really didn't want to leave him. She wanted to be the only girl he was dancing with right now. She looked over to see who he wanted to change partners with.

She then got a smile on her face for real.

"Yes, they look like the perfect couple for us to switch partners with." Marie wanted to talk to Raiden anyway and she totally trusted Destiny dancing with Carter.

Lysandra snapped her head up when she heard the music stopped. Is it time to leave? she asked herself. When Professor Vindictus told the people that were dancing to switch, she sighed and leaned back in her chair. She knew she wouldn't dance with anyone again, so she closed her eyes and waited for the music to start up again.

Carter smirked at Marie's smile and then lead the way to the two Slytherins.

"Hey Destiny." he said when he arrived in front of her. "Would you like to dance?" he asked.

He wondered if Destiny would freak out. Did cooties travel through dancing? Hopefully not. Even though cooties weren't real he was sure they were something that Marie did not want him to share with anyone else.

Ellie chuckled, "Nope, I'm the big sis." All responsible and stuff. "And, yes. That would make the most sense.. for him to not come.." That sounded better in her head... It sounded smarter. Ah, well.

She nodded, "Yeah. I didn't realize that I might have been planning things that would overlap. I just wanted to be involved in everything." Yeah, that was kind of a problem... But, she hadn't run into any problems so far, so... It's all good. "We had a practice today, actually. Gruelling. I can't wait for a game." She was strong! No one would expect that. She felt like a little firstie secret weapon. And JD's a secret weapon too. Yeah, they were gonna be awesome!

Why wouldn't someone come back to Hogwarts? That's so sad. "Well that's good then. It's a deal." She flashed him one of her prettier smiles. What would happen when they were playing each other? Well... "What position do you play?" she asked.

"Pfft!" Fia smirked at the continued argument statement from Miles. "With you, I bite my tongue a lot, keeping things to myself. I shouldn't speak when I am angry." She looked back to the other dancers as her smile faded. "In fact, neither one of us needs to speak when we are angry." Harsh words.

"Now can we practice some more?" She wanted to get back to where they were...happy.

'Things that would overlap'. That was totally first year! Reason one he failed at attending tryouts, too many things, so little time! But he made it out alive. Perhaps being a second year gave him more insight.

Ah, man, he was growing up! Hogwarts time was getting closer to an end! How...dramatic. There were still years of studies left to do, and at least one of Quidditch games to win.

"Yeah, it happens, especially since you want to be part of everything" which was cool, actually, but he did have to choose last year..."I think it's great--wait, practice?" whatever he was supposed to say before was entirely erased from his mind. Practice. Blink. Blink. What kind of practice was she talking about? Gobstones? Because she couldn't possibly mean 'Quidditch', right?

Speechless.

Her smile brought him back to present time, "Deal!" he smiled back, and he suddenly felt very proud (something you could see in his face) when he mentioned his current position in the team, "I'm the Keeper" Treyen nodded. The Keeper. His sister had been Beater, and his father Chaser...they only needed the Seeker...OH! GILDEROY!

Ellie nodded, "And it's just like me to want to be a part of everything. That's gonna come back to bite me in the butt one day..." Yeah, probably. Hopefully not soon, though. Hopefully... when... Actually, hopefully never. That would be best. Because she just didn't have time to not be a part of everything. Or... That didn't make sense. Whatever. She knew what she meant. That's all that matters.

She looked at him. You could see in the way she looked, in her eyes, that she could tell he had no idea, and would be completely surprised, and that made her feel awesome. Not having a secret. But telling it. Not that it was a secret. "Yeah... Practiceee..." she slowly nodded, "Like quidditch... like what we've been talking about..." You follow?

"That's awesome." Keepers are cool. And very important. "Dad was keeper in his day." That he was.

Marie followed Carter over to Destiny and Raiden. "Hey Raiden, may I have the next dance?" she asked after Carter asked Destiny to dance. She had a feeling that if she didn't ask right away then someone else would be asking him... or he would be off asking someone else.

Carter had been a pretty good teaher so she felt pretty confident that she wouldn't step on his toes. She looked over at Destiny... she better NOT step on Carter's toes either or she may feel just what Lawson felt from her in the flower garden.

Nah. It was great wanted to be a part of everything. Exhausting, but great.

Hey! Treyen is mentally capable of understanding things...no need for the slowness. Tsk. "Why would you practice Quidditch?" yeah, he was having a hard time understanding this for some reason. Poor boy, the dancing was no good for him, then. "Like...are you on the team?" but that couldn't be it...she looked so fragile...OH! THE BLUDGERS! She could get hurt by one of thooooose!

Aha! Pride made an appearance once more. "It is! Great responsibility, but it's awesome...though, Chasers seem to have the most fun out of a game, even if the game in general is amazing, there are some positions that seem to have the best of it" but he was supposed to be more focused, like the Seeker, like Jake. Oh, man, he hoped that kid liked to focus. But, yes, back to Keeper. He liked it. He was one of a kind now. Spotlight. Grin.

"I am." Ellie said grinning. Was that such a hard concept to understand? Not that she thought him dumb, or mean, or anything, she was still smiling and her eyes were sparkling. She loved how people reacted when they found out she did something that seemed beyond her ability, based on her physique. And wait till he learned her position. AND what happened during practice today! AND tryouts. Haha, JD, those would be good memories one day.

Ellie agreed, "Chasers definitely get the most action, I think. They're what the whole game counts on, really." That would be TONS of pressure.

They were switching partners?? She looked at Theo with a warm smile. "Well, I hope to see you around!" she said brightly.
Then she strutted over to Evan and tapped his shoulder. "Hi Evan! Wanna dance?" she asked.

She was?!

There were no words for this. And Treyen's surprise look didn't leave his face for a full minute. Or, almost a minute. Hard to tell. Timing wasn't his forte right now. He blinked a couple times before he could muster an answer to that reply. Because...well, girls like her shouldn't be playing. They should be kept away from things that could eventually cause any harm.

"Really?!" come to think of it, Melanie was not a tough girl, but she was older, she could take it. "What position do you play?!" yes, he was happy, beyond excitement, but he truly meant to ask: "How did that happened?".

Mmmhmmm. Treyen nodded. Chasers made the whole game, really. "Yeah, they do, but...back to you...how--" he certainly wanted to ask that, "--when--" wait, that answer he knew, "--I didn't even know you could fly!" he didn't know she could dance either...can she fight dragons too?!

Ellie burst out laughing at his surprise. His face was priceless. She loved these moments. When she told people these things. Or played a trick on them. Gave her the same joy.

When she had finally composed herself, and Treyen had long enough to ask a question, she said, "Yes, Really!" Hahaha, "I'm beater." she swung her right arm as if she had the bat in it and was hitting a bludger. THIS was going to top her day, for sure.

"I can fly! Been flying for forever. And how? Well... I tried out? And made it? That's pretty much the gist of it." Isn't that always 'how' these things worked?

She still grinned at him, biting her lip, and forcing herself to not laugh. Not yet.

And she was laughing! Let's just hope she wasn't laughing AT him! Though, he could really see his face, so, no way he could tell why she was laughing.

He couldn't help to chuckle a bit. While her laughter could be contagious, he didn't feel like laughing now. This was serious business. Girls get hurt at Quidditch. Well, his Captain seemed like a very tough girl, and of course his sister...Treyen KNEW she was a VERY tough player.

'Yes, Really!'. They seemed to have established that she was FOR REAL in her house team. AND A BEATER?! WHAT?! He gasped and the shock in his eyes couldn't be concealed. How could Professor Vindictus accept something like this?! Let's just hope he wouldn't mind them talking instead of dancing...even if both him and Ellie did have a fair share of dancing themselves...BUT BEATER?!

"Are you kidding me?!" he said, shaking his head from one side to the other, "You--You don't look like a Beater!" that was an understatement, "You could get hurt! No wonder practice was grueling! Did you get hurt during practice? I'd watch out for those Bludgers" he actually NEEDED to watch out for the Bludgers too! But that seemed irrelevant at the moment.

Well, that was obvious! "I meant..." he started to say, "...I don't know what I meant..." yes, never mind.
