Sidney tucks her had and puts her book away. She doesn't like the look Professor Truebrige gives. Obviously Sidney has irritated the tempermental professor. A mistake she hopes she does not make again. Instead of getting upset, Sidney continues to work on her notes paying closer attention to the spells he discusses.
Quote:
"The 'glass to sand' shield, isn't specifically for that purpose, that is, it doesn't only work on changing glass into sand. Rather it is a shield which is used to revert physical things to a former state, whether they are transfigured or not. It has its limitations but as with any spell, in the right situation it is invaluable. Keeping in mind that it changes things back to a former state, what transfiguration spell might be its root?"
Very interesting... The glass to sand shield charm changes the glass back to sand. That makes sense since glass is made from sand. I would love to know what effects it has on other objects. Sidney writes down the incantation and wand movement. She also makes note of the information Professor Truebridge gives concerning the different colors the spell inparts. When she is finished with her notes, she places her stuff back in her bag. Sidney finds a spot to practice (as far away from Professor Truebridges prying eyes) and works on her execution. Since the wand movement is just point your wand, Sidney decided to start by working on the pronuciation of the spell. With her wand still in its holster, she say "Revertoscutum... Re-ver-toe-skew-tum... I can't imagine having to say it five time fast." Sidney smiles and starts again. "Revertoscutum..." I guess this is as good a time as any to try. Sidney takes her wand out of her holster and makes sure no one is in the direction of where she points her wand. Considering its a shield charm the chances are low that it will cause much damage if its performed improperly, but it's better not to take any chances. Sidney points her wand and say "Re-ver-toe-skew-tum." At first nothing appears to happen, then something that has bluish streaks starts to form. Sidney tries to hold her concentration on the shield she is trying to form. The shield starts to appear like a complete form, then it disappears. Concentration, consentration, why can't I seem to keep my mind on what I'm doing? I need to focus more on what I'm doing. Clear my mind and think only of the spell I'm trying to do. Sounds easy, so why is it so hard to do in practice?
Reversion shield spell incantation is Revertoscutum, Re-ver-toe-skew-tum
Noir finished her note and she stood up to try the spell..
She pointed her wand and then said "Revertoscutum" nothing happen..
She tried for the second time "Revertoscutum" she said and then she saw a shield come out of her wand in a blue-purple color.."Finally.." she smirked
Super Slytherin Buddy - ⅓ She-Snake Trio || EVIL Healer
Marie sat there for a bit just practicing the incantation in her head. This was a tricky one to say and she wanted to make sure it came out sounding right. Once she felt confident she knew how to say it she stood up and gave it a try.
"Revertoscutum!" she said as she poked her wand forward.
Nothing happened.
"Revertoscutum!" she said again only this time a little louder and with more confidence. Yes! It worked. There was now a light blue shield there in front of her. She stood there for a few seconds just admiring the color thinking that it would look so much better if it was green. Oh well, for now she was happy, she got the shield to appear.

Still a little put out by the last spell not working, Ty had made the transition from Part 1 to Part 2 of the lesson in complete silence, busy scribbling down notes. There wasn't even time to be EXCITED... This class was hard.
Revertoscutum. o_O Re-ver-to-scu-tum. Ty wrote this down carefully, as it was a LONG word and therefore easily forgotten. As Professor Truebridge told them to start working on the spell, Ty's mood lifted slightly. Maybe THIS spell will work?
Putting down his things, Ty stood up and took out his wand again. "Revertoscutum!" he said, pointing his wand. And yep, nothing happened. Snarling - a weird sound when coming from a voice as high as his - Ty rolled his sleeves up and tried again. "Revertoscutum! Revertoscutum!! REVERTOSCUTUM!" he bellowed at last, and saw a small, sort of electric blue coloured bubble appear just above the tip of his wand.
OHHHHWEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! "REVERTOSCUTUM!!" he shouted again, more confident this time and the bubble appeared for a little while longer before disappearing. "Professor Truebridge! Professor, sir! It's WORKING!" utterly delighted, Ty for once didn't really care that he appeared six years old. The spell was WORKING.
Granted, it wasn't nearly as impressive nor as long lasting as the others, but STILL.

Cela listened to the professor and did a bunch of nodding whenever he talked to or about her. Yup. But her attention was on Jake Upstead, expression hopeful and encouraging. When she saw him manage the shield, even though it was murky and thick, she actually applauded quietly as if to herself.
A soft smile and then she stood to take her own turn.
Revertoscutum?
She supposed it made sense. Scutum was a kind of shield right? It was an awkward kind of incantation though, so it was lucky the wand movement wasn't too hard.
"Revertoscutum!" Cela pointed her wand, her voice steady and the slight flick to her wrist a natural finish to the spell. Her shield was more blue than green, almost pearlescent, like the sheen of a bubble, though definitely see through. She noticed it was more like a wall, or half of a bubble than one than enveloped her completely. She supposed that made sense.
She whispered some notes to her Quill which obligingly scribbled them down.
She swung her wand a little and was pleasantly suprised when the shield moved with her. Hum. Wonder if she could move it off of her and onto someone else? She peeked at the professor and concentrated.
It felt odd, sluggish. But for a brief moment, her shield moved in front of the professor , curving away from Cela. Exhausted, she let it go and then her quill made a few more notes.
Truebridge blinked and watched a shield move about him briefly. He nodded approvingly but didn't say anything. That would be coming later.

He knew what his colour would be, Chelsea's sky blue, his favourite colour. Pointing his wand right in front of him, he said "Revertoscutum." clearly.
Nothing happened at the first second, and he lowered his wand a centimetre when a blue wall-thingy appeared in front of him. Wow. It was fascinating. He smiled, and took a small step to look at it closer when it disappeared. Sigh. But it wouldn't stay any longer anyway. Though this was progress, right, considering the first part of the lesson? Being away from Marie and getting her out of his mind was effective.
"Better, Evan." Truebridge murmured, nodding approvingly. Better than earlier in the lesson anyhow.

"What syllable receives the emphasis? Is it the second to last?" she asked. Naturally she had been saying it with the emphasis on the second to last, but she just wanted to make sure that was correct.

"It looks like many of you have got the hang of it now, so it is important to test it out. Remember this shield isn't one that will block things, it changes things. So not all circumstances are safe or appropriate to use it. Generally speaking, if you are fighting off a barrage that would weaken a protego or other barrier shield, then that is when you would consider to use this one. Also as a general rule, it will only revert magically created physical things, so a conjured animal would, with a stronger shield, be reverted to a younger form, or an egg or whatever it originally would have been, but a real creature would not be effected that way. Switching spells would also be reversed by this shield."
So now to practice it.
"You may continue practicing on your own or work in pairs or groups. The attacker will cast only the following, you may choose which; Orchideous, Incarcerous, Papilio, Glacius or Avis. If you don't know any of these spells have another student help you or only defend. I will help anyone who needs it."
ooc: the conjured spells will revert in the following way when they hit the shields to different degrees (which you may choose):
Incarcerous: Ropes to fibres such as hemp or cotton
Orchideous: Flowers to seeds or bulbs (depending on the flowers)
Papilio: Butterflies to cocoons or caterpillars
Avis: Birds to eggs
Glacius: Ice to water
You may choose others within reason. Nothing that would be harmful if it did not work. e.g Serpensortia is not allowed!
For those who are taking a turn conjuring something at someone with a shield, please let the defender RP how it changes.
Also, you can just pretend someone is casting at you if you like or if you can't find a partner. I'm fine with that.
Any questions, IC or OOC don't hesitate to ask

Lowering his wand the moment the Professor had begun talking, Ty took in the instructions. While it would have been nice to partner up with someone, his shield barely protected his wand, let alone himself. Sighing, Ty bit his lip in concentration and attempted the spell again. "Revertoscutum!" he said, wearily, and watched the now familiar small blue bubble appear.
Ugh.
"REVERTROSCUTUM!" Ty shouted again, concentration maxed. The bubble grew considerably larger so that it managed to shield all his upper half. Encouraged by this, Ty shouted the spell twice more and laughed in delight as the electric blue, but still rather transparent, bubble encased him. Everything outside of him looked like it had been painted with the Ravenclaw colours. Hehe.
"It's so wicked..." Ty whispered to himself, reaching out to touch it but just then it disappeared. Oh well - AGAIN. Casting the spell again and again, Ty's bouncy nature returned to him as he finally managed to produce the shield without screaming the incantation furiously.
Hehe. SUPER SMART, he was.

Aileen tried the Revertoscutum spell couple more times. When she was sure she knew it well, she started looking around if there is anybody who would like to practice the shield with her.

Cadence smiled at Professor Truebridge's approving nod. "Thank you, Professor!" she said cheerily before turning her focus back to the spell. Right, so now that she was sure of the pronunciation, conjuring it shouldn't be a big deal. Taking out her wand, she gave it a firm jab, and confidently said, "Revertoscutum!" A bright teal shield appeared in front of her, strong and unwavering. She ended the spell and the practiced it a few more times, feeling entirely confident in her ability to perform this new kind of shield.
When Professor Truebridge began to address the class again, Cadence turned to look at him, listening closely to what he said. Cadi was definitely ready to have someone work with her. After he set them free to continue working Cadence looked around and yelled said, "Anyone need a partner?"

Alex sighed glancing around for a partner, she really wanted to test her shields defenses. She surprisingly knew how to do Glacius and that was because she read a lot.
Aileen nodded. "Revertoscutum!" she pronounced carefuly and a blue green shield appeared in front of her. Now she waited for Sophia's spell.
OOC: Please, the name of my character is Aileen. Not Arline. Thanks
"Uhmm. I think I'll conjure the spell first then you can cast the defensive spell. I already asked a student form a higher year to tell me information about the said spell and I practiced it. " suggested Sophia, smiling. "Let's start again." Sophia said.
Sophia faced Aileen. With her wand pointed to Aileen, she said, "Incarcerous!" and she can see the rope coming out from her spell.
OOC. Sorry about that. The spell is in Con_Stripes/Professor's OOC

Herminny heard it was now time to partner up and gulped. She was always terrible about finding a partner in the past but things had been different lately so maybe today would be like that hopefully. Alexandrie looked at the person who had just came over and asked her to be partners. "Sure, you want to defend or attack?" Alex rarely partnered up, most people partnered with friends which she believed she had very few if any friends so it was a surprise someone had actually asked her to partner up.
"Focus." Truebridge answered. "You want to produce a shield, so you need to focus on that. Imagine glass is coming at you, sharp shards. Your shield will transform the shards of glass into sand. Simply practice, you have the incantation right."
Elvedina nodded. She planted her feet firmly, closed her eyes, and took a deep, calming breath. She opened her eyes and focused all her attention on producing a bright blue shield. She held out her wand. She flicked her wrist and cried "Revertoscutum!" and was amazed to see a very faint, blue shield form around her. Her eyes lit up. She lost focus and the shield disappeared. Only a little disappointed, she tried again. Flick wrist. "Revertoscutum!" Again a blue shield appeared, this time a little darker, but still not as dark as some of the other students'. She tried again and again and again. Every time, the shield got a little darker until she found it resembeled the shields others in her year were producing. "Yes!" she cried. A few people eyed her warily, but most ignored her. She bit her lip and celebrated in her head for another minute or so before trying again. This isn't so bad, I guess, she thought. At least being muggleborn hasn't made me much worse than everyone else.
