Shields. Right. Evan took down his notes, and watched how to cast yet another shield. He guessed this shield would be useful for those armours, so he watched the professors and some other students very closely before he drew his wand. Wow, blue colour, was it? He knew what his colour would be, Chelsea's sky blue, his favourite colour. Pointing his wand right in front of him, he said "Revertoscutum." clearly.

Nothing happened at the first second, and he lowered his wand a centimetre when a blue wall-thingy appeared in front of him. Wow. It was fascinating. He smiled, and took a small step to look at it closer when it disappeared. Sigh. But it wouldn't stay any longer anyway. Though this was progress, right, considering the first part of the lesson? Being away from Marie and getting her out of his mind was effective.

PatInTheHat 05-16-2010 02:17 PM

Scribbling down notes on her parchement, she couldn't decide which shield sounded cooler, the 'glass to sand' or the Impiriano shield. Either way, they both sounded like a lot of fun for her to cast.

Pushing the notes aside, she twirled her wand and watched as Truebridge preform the spell. It was a pretty blue-green, reminded her of the ocean which caused her mind to wander briefly.

Now it was thier turn to give it a go. Standing, she stared into the space before her as she repeated to tongue twister of a incantation. "Re-ver-toe-skew-tum...reeveertoeeskewwtuum....revertoscutum..."

Once she felt like she had the pronunciation, she pointed her wand at the empty space her eyes were fixated on and cast the shield.

"Revertoscutum!"

An light turquoise crystalline shield appeared infront of her and she gazed at it with a satisfied expression. Holding for a moment longer, she let it drop before casting again.

Destiny 05-16-2010 02:32 PM

Well, that was a hard word to pronounce. Not only was it hard to pronounce, it was even more difficult to remember. Destiny had to repeat it over and over in her head, but as soon as she got distracted, the word disappeared and she forgot it.

When they were allowed to practice, Destiny quickly wrote down the word in her notebook, writing it in a way she would be able to remember it, and walked over to where Evelyn was practicing. Her friend didn't seem to have a problem with remembering the spell or pronouncing it. Pffft. Evelyn obviously had a bigger brain than Destiny. Holding her notebook out in front of her, she drew her wand and pointed, "Rekoschumtion"

Nothing.

Perhaps she had pronounced it wrong? Pointing her wand, she tried it again. "Revertosomething!"

Again, nothing.

Grr.

Shaking the notebook that was in her hand, because it was clearly the notebooks fault, Destiny pointed her wand. If it didn't work this time, she was going to tear her notebook to pieces and sprinkle the shreds on top of Evelyn's head. "Revertoscutum!"

A faint, VERY faint, blue shield appeared in front of her, which made her frown. "Eww. It's blue!"

And it was gone.

Crud.

Cadence sat in her seat for a few moments, continuing to fill in her notes with more details, making sure to note the particular pronunciation of the incantation. Once she had finished with her notes, she tucked them away in her bag and climbed out of the bleachers, finding her own space sort of away from people. Before getting out her wand, she paced a bit, saying the spell aloud to make sure her articulators could form the word without getting caught up before she tried it with her wand. "Revertoscutum," she repeated over and over. Then, however, she lost an important point about the pronunciation. "Professor Truebridge," she called, raising her hand. "What syllable receives the emphasis? Is it the second to last?" she asked. Naturally she had been saying it with the emphasis on the second to last, but she just wanted to make sure that was correct.

Elvedina raised her wand. Giddy with excitement she waved her wand and cried "Revertoscutum!" ....and nothing happened. She tried again. "Revertoscutum! Revertoscutum! God damnit! Revertoscutum!" Well this is going well, she thought sarcastically. What am I doing wrong? With one last [failed] attempt, she threw up her hand. "Professor!" she called. "Professor Truebridge, d'you think you could help me? I can't seem to get this bloody spell to work."

The classes here moved so much more quickly than Adelyn had expected, but she was complaining; she was keeping up just fine, for a first year. After copying down all the notes, Adelyn figured she'd try out the spell, just to see if she could do it. She'd gotten the last one right rather quickly, so Adelyn was fairly confident about this one, too. She stood up, raised her wand, and said loudly: "Revertoscutum!" and a blue-green sheild appeared in front of her. Adelyn smiled to herself, feeling rather accomplished.

Jen stood up to try the spell she was a bit nervous because she had never tried this one before.

"Revertoscutum." Jen said and pointed. Nothing. Jen groaned in frustration but wanted to keep trying.

"Revertoscutum." Jen said a little bit louder. The blue wall appeared but then was gone as quickly as it came.

"Revertoscutum!" Jen said with more force and focus and this time the wall appeared. The color was beautiful, almost like a turquoisish color, that was her favorite color. Jen smiled at her success.

miss.malfoy.211 05-16-2010 04:09 PM

Watching the Professor, Kenna tried to duplicate the spell. "Revertoscutum!" She commanded. A blue-ish green-ish sheild quickly appeared, but then it was gone. She tried again "Revertoscutum!" The turquoise shield appeared, and it seemed rather solid. She smiled.

Zecaar 05-16-2010 04:58 PM

Revertoscutum? That didn't even sound Latin. Much more like gibberish. What the heck, some people were already creating a nice shiny blue shield, guess it couldn't be total gibberish. Now to try it. No complicated wand movements? No concentration? What determined if someone could do it or not? Strength of the wand bearer? Hmm. Strange spell.

He pointed and said, "Revertoscutum." A royal blue shield appeared, that wasn't that hard. Well there was half the battle. He had it up, but what would happen when something hit it? He looked around for something to throw at it. Only problem was, it needed to be thrown the other way. He let the shield down. He gazed around the room, looking for someone who could throw something at the shield. Probably something that wasn't sharp to start.

Revertoscutum..that sounded like one of the transfiguration spells to turn your pet into a goblet. Only that was just 'Reverto' with three taps against the pet. Transfiguration was one of her favorites to read about. She wrote notes about the spell before attempting it, "Revertoscutum!" she casted causing a weak blueish shield to appear in front of her. She forgot one of the most important parts of transfiguration and DADA, focus on what you want and what it was supposed to do. "Revertoscutum!" she stated thinking of a shield appearing in front of her her wand pointing in front of her. A stronger blue green shield appeared in front of her. She nodded proudly dropping the shield writting it in her notes as well. She saw the spell turned into different colors, blueish green the most common with some light blues to a royal blue. What one said it was the strongest? She'd think it would be royal blue but who knows the Professor will tell them soon she thought.

"Revertoscutum!" A shield that looked almost like a wall of water, a pale blue-green appeared in front of him and he held it for long enough that the students could see it.

Melissa listened to Professor Truebridge. She had never heard of the spell Reverto but she was still listening, it might come in handy for next term. She also wrote down the spell and it's affects.

[spoiler=Melissa's Journal]Reverto

Incantation: Revertoscutum
Pronunciation: Re-ver-toe-skew-tum
Wand movement: Point in the direction

When casted it will be a shield that looked almost like a wall of water and the colour will be a pale blue-green

Melissa nodded and got up from the bleachers to try the spell. She also noticed that the suits of armour were acting very weird and they were...quivering?

Right, blueish but it can vary from person to person. Nod. Some may be more visible than others and it's not an indicator of strength. Nod nod. She got out her wand to practise the spell. She picked up her journal from the bleachers and held it in front of her with her wand pointing to it. "Revertoskuetum!" she spoke, the journal didn't work. Try again. "Revertoscutum!" it worked, but it showed an awful colour of blue. But it didn't last long. Oh well try again.

William had been listening the whole time, paying special attention to the professor as he wrote nearly everything down. He needed to know this stuff if he wanted his dream job he thought glancing up from his notes every once in awhile, jotting something else down. The different sheilds he was speaking of were fascinating, especially the glass one. He knew about protego but had completely forgotten about it, and besides it wasn't as strong as he would like. Nothing that a little practice wouldn't fix he knew.

Standing from his spot he flicked his wrist again, wand coming out of its holster. What was the spell again, Revo something or other? Holding his wand loosely from its location in his fingers he frowned, his face looking adorable as his hair hung in front of his eyes. Sigh. "Revo--- Reno---Rumino..." he whispered, trying to remember. Guh he had JUST heard it spoken like ten times! Grr frustrating William? he thought to himself as he crossed his arms before shaking his head.

Singing a soft rumba in his mind he blinked, his eyes flashing open. "Revertoscutum!" he exclaimed rather loudly before flushing and grinning a bit. "Oops sorry.' he uttered, casting a glance at everyone as he stood straighter, now having an idea of what he was doing. After hearing Truebridge say there wasn't any concentration or wand movements needed he grinned, finally having an easy spell. No problem, "Revertoscutum!" He said clearly and full of confidence. Out of nowhere a blue-greeny looking shield protruded from his wand and he grinned, holding it steady as he held his wand, fascination in his eyes.

Dropping the shield he looked for further instructions, knowing the harder spells were coming.

After Victoria had written her notes, she got from the bleachers and pulled out her wand. With a deep breath, she pointed her wand. "Revertoscutum."

Nothing happened except for a small whisp of what looked like cyan coming out of the tip of her wand, which caused her to sigh in dismay.

Paying close attention to how the spell worked, how it was conjured, the wand and the pronunciation, Jimbo wrote it all down in his trusty notebook.

SPOILER!!: Jimbo's Notebook

Revertoscutum
REV-ERT-OH-SKEW-TUM
A blue-ish one way shield charm.
Wand movement: Point.

Getting up, he took out his wand and tried the spell. "Revertoscutum!"
Point.

Nothing.
Again, he tried. "Revertoscutum!" Whisp of blue.
"Revertoscutum!" It became more evident this time, but it still wasn't perfect. He tried a couple more times over and over until it turned out the way it was supposed to. But then, he couldn't hold it long.
He tried some more and finally seemed to be able to hold it.
Trying one last time to make sure he got it, he pointed and said the spell. "Revertoscutum!"

There. It stayed. A nice blue it was all cool and watery and stuff. He tried to see how long he could keep it and it lasted quite a while. Happy with himself, he looked around to see how others were doing.

Hermione J. Granger 05-16-2010 06:32 PM

Hermione watched as the professor conjured a blue-green shield and thought the spell seemed simple enough, but she knew not to get ahead of herself because it was likely a lot more difficult than he made it seem. She wrote down the remaining notes the professor had given, and got up to practice the spell herself as the professor instructed. She took out her wand and said the spell. "Revertoscutum" and nothing happened. She tried again. "Revertoscutum" and still nothing. Hermione was become a little discouraged but kept trying. "Revertoscutum" and a little light blue whips appeared from her wand. She wondered what she was doing wrong.

Jay concentrated, as if a spell was shot at him. He quickly point his wand,"Revertoscutum!" he said as a tiny shield appeared. "Revertoscutum!" he incanted again with a sharp point as a turquoise shield appeared.

Cassie dipped her quill in ink and wrote down the defensive spells:
Protego, Expelliarmus, Expecto Patronum, Finite and Incarcerous.

after adding a flourish with her quill underneath the notes, Cassie looked up eagerly at the Professor once more.

no idea about the tansfiguration...she hadn't even attended that class this term. Oh well, may as well take notes.

Reverotscotum...revertoscutum? she wasn't sure how to spell it much less say it. Nevertheless, Cassie mumbled a bit and waved her wand about, watching some of the older students.

oohhh...Cassie saw how it was done now.

Revertoscutum! she shouted confidently. And to her surprise a turquoise shield appeared. Yes! she had done it. but, in her moment of joy, the shield disappeared and Cassie shook out her wrists and tried once more.

astoriagreengrass:) 05-17-2010 12:08 AM

CHase finished her notes and stood up and got off the bleachers to practice.

It was supposed to turn blue-ish and she hoped it would.

Revertoscutum!She said.

And a small turquoise (a shade of blue) thin sheild appereared but only was there for about half a second.

Crap.

littledhampir 05-17-2010 12:19 AM

Josey stood up. This spell she could do. "Revertosectum!" A thin, sky blue, shield appeared in front of her. YES! She did it!

HaRoHeGiNeLu 05-17-2010 01:34 AM

Ellie sighed. Here we go, more kids SHOUTING an incantation. After being in the quiet for nearly ten minutes, the noise now only made her feel worse. Her head was pounding, but she still refused to go to the healer.

She decided to give the spell a go. This was one she'd heard of, but never learned.

"Revertoscutum.." she said feebly, her wand in hand.

Yeah, nothing happened. Oh well. She could practice later, she supposed.

She put her elbows on her lap and her head in her hands, trying to block out the room... and the noise.

Snape631 05-17-2010 01:44 AM

Willow thought the incantation was going to be a tricky one to master the pronunciation on. Reverto is easy enough to say but Revertoscutum was a whole other mountain to climb. She decided to practice the saying of the incantation until she had mastered it before attempting the spell. She sat in her seat repeating the incantation over and over again while glancing down in her notebook to make sure she was saying it properly emphasizing each syllable "Re-ver-toe-skew-tum."

PadfootAndTheWolf 05-17-2010 01:44 AM

WOOT Another spell to learn!!!

Chris had heard of this spell a lot but had never gotten around to actually casting it or using it, which would be a very useful one to learn, now that he thought about it. Perhaps that was why they were learning it in this lesson??? Smart Head Boy!

Ok well Chris went ahead and wrote down the incantation and a bit of the things Truebridge said about it in his notes. When he finished, Chris stopped and watched some of the others do their's first. He smiled as the both the older and younger students seemed to be getting it, and waving at Cela as she did her's not too far from him.

The Head Boy then pulled out his wand and thought about the spell, going over the pronounciation in his head. Finally he casted, "Revertoscutum!" he felt a slight tugging sensation at the end of his wand, like his other sheild charms and then a blue light came from the end and made a small wall in front of him. Chris grinned excitedly as he could see though it but was confident that nothing could come through it...at least he hoped so.

Rosa Chispa Princessa 05-17-2010 03:35 AM

Herminny watched in awe as she the professor form a sheild of colorful water. It looked amazing and she could not wait to try the spell for herself. She took notes of the spell and incantation:

parchment:
Quote:

revertoscutum
wand movement: just point
Getting the go ahead from the proffesor Herminny was not gonna wait a moment longer. She took out her wand and pointed directly infront of her and said, "revertoscutum", and with concentaration she saw a tiny shield come of water come out of her wand in a pale green color. It looked amazing and felt amazing to be the maker of that power and she knew with practice she would get better and better. She kept practicing and soon enough she formed a strong dark green like flower petals water sheild she felt super proud of and grinned.

Hermione J. Granger 05-17-2010 03:46 AM

Hermione continued to practice the spell. "Revertoscutum" she continued to say over and over but the only thing that came out of her wand were blue wisps of water. She grew frustrated with herself. "Professor" asked Hermione. "Am I doing something wrong. I have been at this for over half an hour, and all I have gotten out of my wand are small amounts of colorful water" she said.
