"We are talking about shields. I don't believe arrow conjuring was mentioned even once. Put your transfiguration book away Sidney, and pay attention." Weird. Surely that kid couldn't read his thoughts or anything, right? Quote:

"Thank you Celandine. Impiriano is the other shielding spell we will touch on for precisely the reason you have given. All shields have their purpose. Protego is one of the stronger and easier to cast shields, but you do need to drop it in order to attack. Impiriano you can conjure as a one way barrier, though it will not stand up against a particularly strong barrage of magical energy, though it is useful against conjured and physical items such as arrows, ropes or even animals." He paused and looked around, a few of the suits of armour got a bit restless and clattered as they shifted from foot to foot. "The 'glass to sand' shield, isn't specifically for that purpose, that is, it doesn't only work on changing glass into sand. Rather it is a shield which is used to revert physical things to a former state, whether they are transfigured or not. It has its limitations but as with any spell, in the right situation it is invaluable. Keeping in mind that it changes things back to a former state, what transfiguration spell might be its root?" |
Mina jotted down everything as she heard it. Thorough notes would definitely help her and she had a feeling she just might need them. She would also definitely have to take Cela up on the offer to help her with her dueling techniques and all. Thinking over all the spells she knew, she raised her hand. "Would it be reverto, professor?" |

Third time the charm. That did not help her narrow down any spells! Just, the ones with the letter 'I', but it seems as someone already had gotten the right answer. Impiriano. THAT was...probably the one she was trying to think of. It did start with an 'I' after all. Evelyn listened to the professor as she watched the suits of armor, still wondering what they were going to be used for. Since they were talking about shield charms and such, were they going to be shielding themselves from those...massive weapons? Ehh... Hearing the question however, the Slytherin looked back over to the professor and just about to raise her hand..bleh. Too late. "Yea...reverto..." she mumbled, before looking back at the suits of armor. They looked irritated or something. |

"Revertoscutum!" A shield that looked almost like a wall of water, a pale blue-green appeared in front of him and he held it for long enough that the students could see it. |
Hmmm. That reverting spell was more useful than he'd thought. To him, it had pretty much just been a constant threat of Neptune trying to turn him back into Chibi!Raiden. Which had happened, but it hadn't been her doing. The prefect quickly scribbled down the incantation in his notebook, making a note next to it about the colour it produced. Blue-green. It looked kinda nice. |
Grayson had been scribbling down notes as soon as DADA had resumed. Granted, she knew about Protego. She kind of thought everyone knew about that charm, but it was possible somebody might not. Probably the only reason she knew about it was because of her uncle, after all, and his lessons. But the other shield charms definitely intrigued her. He'd never told her about those. Continuing to glance at the suits of armor every minute or so, she semi-ignored the professor telling the students who had suggested other spells. Obviously they weren't what he was after, so she figured she didn't need to think about them right now. But as he talked about transfiguration spells, her interest was piqued again. But there wasn't a chance to say anything, before he was teaching them the shield the head girl had talked about first. Ooh!, she thought as he cast, eyes widening at the visual aspect of the shield. That was kind of pretty, although part of her wished it was a different color. |
Staring at the shield, and it's rather beautiful color if she were to admit, Evelyn blinked a few times before raising her hand. A rather, off topic question, but she was curious. "Professor, I have a question, rather off topic but...Why are spells such different colors? I know that some spells appearances depend on the witch or wizard like the patronus and such. Is it...the same for all the other spells? Like certain colors for certain groups of spells or the different power of them?" Seriously confusing herself. |
"You may stand up and try it now, just don't get up on the duelling platforms." Which was where the suits of armour were all waiting, perhaps even quivering with eagerness for... something. Truebridge added, "The shield will always appear blueish, though the shade of blue may vary from person to person. Some may be more visible than others, but that isn't an indicator of strength. For now, just practice casting the spell and be careful not to trip over the incantation." Quote:
ooc: I'll leave it here for a bit for the ESTers to catch up. Go ahead and RP practicing the incantation, or the spell or just taking notes, up to you. |
Mina smiled to herself, she actually remembered something from last term. In her mind, that was an accomplishment. Jotting down some notes, she looked back up to see Truebridge demonstrate the spell. Ooo....pretty colour. Setting her notebook and quill down, she reached for her wand and stood up. Silently, she thought out the incantation and pointed her wand. Revertoscutum Point. Re-ver-toe-skew-tum Point. After thinking over it, she tried it out. Raising her wand, she pointed and cast. "Revertoscutum." A faint aqua bluish-green wall appeared. It was just as pretty of a colour, but it soon faded. Maybe, she needed to focus a bit more to keep it up. Again, she just needed to focus. |
Maddie quickly wrote all of that down, making note of the colours as well. Then, she got up and took out her wand. 'Revertoscutum!' she called, and a blue shield came up around her. It was pretty, a kind of turquoise colour. She took it down, and tried again 'Revertoscutum!' it came back up around her, this time a bit darker in colour. |

Glancing up at the suits of armor again, she took out her wand and sat there for a moment, just repeating the spell in her mind as her eyes wondered to eat of the suits of armor. Revertoscutum, was definitely a mouthful to say. Before long though, she started muttering the spell under her breathe, trying to get used to it before actually practicing. She really hated not getting a spell right on the first try, and this was definitely different than the other spells she'd done. Standing up, she glanced over at Destiny for a moment before moving away from the others, and more importantly, away from the platforms. Those giants things would absolutely make her lose her concentration. Alright. "Revertoscutum." she said, raising her wand in front of her. Seeing the light blue-green wall appear, even though it was a bit faint, she smiled at not only the rather pretty color, but the fact that it was...there. Now, it should STAY ther- no. It was gone. Ugh. |
Well, at least blueish was sort of Ravenclaw-y. At least, that was how Grayson chose to look at it, especially since Professor Truebridge had shot down any possibility of her making it raspberry. Even though she liked things that could be her favorite color, the shield was still awesomely cool. Adding the incantation, pronunciation and and movement to her notes, she glanced up again as they were told to practice. Excitement staying steady, she bounced up out of her seat. And even though she was highly curious why they'd been told not to go on the platforms, she inched nearer to them. Not going up on them, but seeing if anything happened if she got anywhere near. So far nothing, so she flicked her wand out of its holster again. Point. Revertoscutum. Hmm, she thought, going over the instructions a few times. She was already testing things, no need to add miscasting the spell to the mix. But she wanted something to aim the spell at, so she glanced at the armor again. Better than the professor, or other students. Pointing her wand in the direction she'd looked in, she spoke. "Revertoscutum." A really faint, weirdly shimmering shield appeared in front of herself, and she squinted a little as she tried to decipher it. It was sort of blue-green, but it almost looked like it had the tiniest bit of a purplish cast to it. Weird. But it faded before she could really decide if it was there, and she glanced at her wand. Maybe she should wait a little before trying it again. |
Aileen noted down the spell and movement and then stood up and pointed in the space in front of her. "Revertoscutum!" there was a faint light blue and green coloured shield. Then it disappeared. Aileen tried again. This time the shield didn't even appear. Aileen tried it for the third time. And this time the shield became something between blue and green. "Wow! Nice!" she smiled. |
Selena looked at the shield in awe. It was beautiful. Selena pointed her wand and said clearly, "Revertoscutum!" a small blue green shield shimmered in front of her for about two seconds before it faded. Selena frowned and tried again. "Revertoscutum!" Selena said this time with more force and a blue green shield came out and stayed. "Finally," Selena grumbled. But at least she got it. |
Dianna stood up to try the spell. She pointed her wand out in the air. "Revertoscutum!" and out came a light bluish green wall. "Cool" |
Re-ver-toe-skew-tum. Re-ver-toe-skew-tum. Re-VER-toe-SKEW-tum. Once Jake had the incantation nailed in his head, he began to speak it nervously out loud to himself as other students found themselves successful with the spell. The lucky gits. Standing and holding his wand out once more, Jake said it a little louder. "Revertoscutum!" Nothing... but at least he now had a method to tone down the stutter; whisper what he wanted to say a few times before he said it. Because that totally wouldn't look weird. "Revertoscutum!" ... GRRR! "Re-VER-toe-SKEW-tum!" At last he had... something. A little too much of a something. A sheild erupted from his wand... and it was blue, alright. Dark blue. Like, he couldn't really see through it, it was so dark. Which would be BAD in a duel. Rats. As his sheild receeding, Jake scrunched his nose. "Ffffail." He had, of course, neglected to realise that he had DONE magic. |
SPOILER!!: Truebridge Teegan nodded her head, she had thought Reverto was the spell, but she was annoyed enough at the moment to not answer the question though she knew the answer. She picked her teal pen up and began writing: Quote:
SPOILER!!: Truebridge Teegan nodded her head and put the cap on her teal pen and stood up on the bleachers and at her notebook and pen down where she had been sitting. She pulled her wand out and took a deep breath ready to see if she could do this spell or not...quite positive she could get it the first go. She held her wand out and pointed just as she had wrote in her notebook. "Revertoscutum!" she exclaimed some what quietly, and there before her was the blue-green shield of water before her, similiar to what Professor Truebridge's looked like when he demonstrated. |
"Revertoscutum" Ericks yelled "Revertoscutum!" and a very light blue shield appeared. |
Jack stood up and tried the spell. He pointed his wand. "Revertoscutum!" he said, and a light blue shield appeared before him for about three seconds then it disappeared. "Revertoscutum!" he said a bit louder and with a bit more force and the blue-green shield apeared before him and stayed. |
For a moment the image of Professor Truebridge warped and became distorted, as Patroclus and the others now viewed him through a wall of water, the shield generated by the incantation Revertoscutum. This style shield sounds like it would be a lot of fun just to play around with, Patroclus mind for the moment swam with ideas of diamonds turn back to coal as they past through the wall of water, or paper back into trees. With those thoughts in his head and a smile on his face Patroclus stood up and in a clear voice spoke the incantation and point his wand. "Revertoscutum!" before his eyes a mist of ice blue erupted from his wand and consolidated in a pulsating shield of blue, through which the class appeared to be being held in arctic waters. |
Cela listened to the professor and did a bunch of nodding whenever he talked to or about her. Yup. But her attention was on Jake Upstead, expression hopeful and encouraging. When she saw him manage the shield, even though it was murky and thick, she actually applauded quietly as if to herself. A soft smile and then she stood to take her own turn. Revertoscutum? She supposed it made sense. Scutum was a kind of shield right? It was an awkward kind of incantation though, so it was lucky the wand movement wasn't too hard. "Revertoscutum!" Cela pointed her wand, her voice steady and the slight flick to her wrist a natural finish to the spell. Her shield was more blue than green, almost pearlescent, like the sheen of a bubble, though definitely see through. She noticed it was more like a wall, or half of a bubble than one than enveloped her completely. She supposed that made sense. She whispered some notes to her Quill which obligingly scribbled them down. She swung her wand a little and was pleasantly suprised when the shield moved with her. Hum. Wonder if she could move it off of her and onto someone else? She peeked at the professor and concentrated. It felt odd, sluggish. But for a brief moment, her shield moved in front of the professor , curving away from Cela. Exhausted, she let it go and then her quill made a few more notes. |
Sophia took down notes. She was glad she could catch up. She looked at her notes and then took out her wand. She pointed it and said, "Revertoscutum." She saw a shield coming from her wand. Wow! The shield was navy blue. It was really cool! |
Alcemee said, "Revertoscutum!" A medium blue shield came out and stayed there for a little while. |
'Revertoscutum!" said Jenny. A huge blue-green shield appeared. Strangely enough, it then just disappeared. Like water evaporating. She repeated the spell, and it was blue like she hoped. It stayed there for about a minute, then she let it go. She wrote down in her notes, with the ink that smelled like chocolate, and the spell-check quill: Revertoscutum makes blue shield appear from wand. She loved the smell. |
