"This shield is incredible!" the young man exclaimed. "Do me! Do me!" He could not contain his excitement, as he skipped back to his position, with his wand out ready for Mina's onslaught. |

Looking back up at him, she smiled brightly at his excitement. Swirling her wand in her hand, she thought about what she was going to send his way. Taking a step backwards, she nodded and raised her wand again. "Glacius!" A few shards of ice flew from the tip of her wand, they were pretty small in size, but moved rather quickly toward their target. |
Lol I didn't know if casting first meant shield or attack lol Quote:
"Yup! Sounds great." Considering the fact that she was still too scared to cast on other people or have people cast on her for that matter, it made all the difference in the word to be able to do it with her best friend. "Alright, here goes..." A little giddy now, she tried to take a good stance. One that like a grip on a wand would be strong yet flexible. Blowing a few strands of hair out of her eyes, Ivory brought up her wand and concentrated. "Revertoscutum!" And there it was. Her own little bubble of personal space that not only looked pretty with its blue and purple hints but moved with her when she moved. It even moved when she tried a little shimmy dance...which of course was what she tried right away. Looking through her see through shield, Ivory gave Arya a thumbs up and started singing a very old muggle song that she remembered her grandmother singing at one point, a song of course punctuated by giggles and small dance moves. Well...after all one had to test their shield to see if it moved with them and was well durable. :music:"Hit me with your best shot...Why don't you hit me with your best shot...Hit me with your best shot...Fire awaaaaaaaay...":music: |
Sorry about not writing yesterday...I didn't have much time Quote:
"Wow that was nice. Okay, so now it's my turn." She pointed her wand on Sophia."Orchideous!" and from her wand flew some red flowers. |

Returning to his position, Patroclus turned just in time to see Mina cast her spell. His reaction was flawless, raising his wand he cried "Revertoscutum!" Before him appeared a pulsating shield, the colour of the coldest waters of the Arctic. His timing was almost too late, as the moment his protective barrier materialised the ice daggers of Mina's Glacius spell, came into contact with his sheild. On one side the spell enter as ice, but exited as harmless water. Well maybe not so harmless. True the shield had returned the ice to water, but it had not slowed the speed with which it traveled and as a result Patroclus was doused in a cooling splash of water. Momentarily stunned and dripping profusely, Patroclus looked from his soaked robes to Mina, and erupted into hysterical laughter. |

She watched as her ice turned to water and drenched him. Visions of JD and herself on the train came to mind. Not able to hold back, she started to giggle uncontrollably as she held her stomach. Looking back up at him, she tried to hold back again. "Sorry about that," she giggled. She had a feeling that would happen but seeing it was a lot funnier than she expected. Getting her giggles under control, she straightened back up and sighed. "Shall we try it again?" |

He noticed her watching him twirl his wand and grinned, "Oh it's easy. It takes a lot of practice though, perhaps I'll teach you after, if you want." he explained, finishing the last twirl and holding it loosely in his hand. He stood there loosely listening to her explanation and nodded; he felt the same way he thought, his blue eyes soft now as he smiled gently. "I know what you mean. People never see me, during my second year I thought I was invisible, my only friend was Moaning Myrtle." he said, not feeling ashamed of that fact at all. He had some god times with her though, especially that poem thing she made him and Jake do in front of everyone at the lake. But getting back in the zone he stepped back a few feet from her, face a blank mask. It was always important to not show anything towards your opponent during a duel, even if it was a fake one like this. Holding his wand out he smirked, waving his wand a bit before casting, "Glacius!" he said in a strong voice, a flick of his wand making a line of ice shoot out of his wand towards her. His face was set, hoping her spell would work. |

SPOILER!!: Bestie Arya twirled her wand and waited for her friend to get set up. She still wasn't to fond of casting on other students, least her best friend. The last time she had was the end of last term so yea she was hesitant. But she knew that it would have to happen sometime soon, better happen in DADA with Truebridge than anywhere else. Giggling, she watched as her friend began to sing while holding up her shield. Arya didn't take her stance since all she was doing was sending a simple spell in her friend's direction. Instead she tilted her head to the side and picking a spot to send the spell. She wasn't gonna send it directly at Ivory, just somewhere around the edge of her shield. Popping her gum, she pointed her wand at the top corner of the blue shield where there was a hint of purple, furthest away from Ivory. "Glacius." A bit of cold ice poured from her wand and headed for the top corner of Ivory's shield. Arya chewed her gum again and waited for the results. |

From the tip of his wand emerged a plume of hot air, that he used to dry of his robes, his face and his hair. Once dry he raised his wand once again, directing it at Mina. "Papilio" Bursting forth from his wand, a majestic flock of blue winged butterflies flew at Mina. "Even with out a shield i doubt these one's will hurt!" He laughed. |

Not really paying attention, she caught a glimpse of the flock coming toward her and cast. "Revertoscutum!" Again, her aqua blush-green shield materialized and she watched as the butterflies collided with it. Once where butterflies were fluttering, now were caterpillars and cocoons. Stepping back as to not step on them, she smiled. "Okay, that's really cool." |

He glanced around approvingly at the others as they practiced. "Alright, time to move on to the next shields. Protego and Impiriano. Can anyone tell the class what the wand movements are for these? What situations might Protego be more effective than Impiriano, and what situations might Impiriano be more effective than Protego?" Truebridge asked, moving on with the lesson. ooc: feel free to answer these questions so we can move on with the lesson, take your pick all, or one of them. The wand movements might just be found in the archives ;) I've had to work overtime which is why we're lagging a bit, but you're all doing great. |
Hermione raised her hand. "Professor the spell Protego would be more effective in a duel against another witch or wizard or if someone is trying to attack you because it can block pretty much any spell that is going to harm you. Impiriano on the other hand would be non-effective because a spell is already in its original form, and therefore cannot be changed to anything else. However, Impiriano would be more effective than Protego in certain situations when thins can be changed. For example say you are getting attacked by a group of poisonous frogs, you could use the Impiriano spell and turn them all back into tadpoles, instead of using Protego which would only hold them off for a brief period of time." said Hermione hoping she give a satisfying answer. "Thank you professor, and yes it is a tongue twister" said Hermione with a laugh. Hermione went over and practiced the spell some more, before the professor called the class back to order. "Revertoeskewtum" she said, and the shield started to become more clear. It was surely an improvement she thought. |
Eh, wand movements. Something she didn't really pay attention to while casting a spell but the protego one was familiar enough. "The Protego spell just a flick up with your wand isn't it?" she said after raising her hand. "Protego would be best used when dueling with another witch or wizard, since you'd probably be seeing hexes and other such spells that the impiriano spell might not be strong enough to hold against, especially if their spells are a bit more powerful than you would expect. The Impiriano spell, however, would best be used probably when..." What would the impiriano spell be used for? "Umm... probably when dealing with creatures right? I mean, you can still use the spell during duels, even though it's not as strong as the protego shield, but if you're skilled enough and want to end it quickly, then that's definitely the spell for you... but I'd more then likely use it against creatures. Especially ones that like to throw and shoot stuff at you. Or if you're trying to get away from someone or something that's attacking you. You can keep the shield up and still shoot spells back if needed. That one would probably be better than the Protego spell anyways when trying to get away since apparently you don't need as much concentration on it." That is, if she understood the spell right. Didn't centaurs have those arrows or something? Huh. Best remember that spell for CoMC. |
Turning from her best friend, she took a seat on the floor instead of walking over to the bleachers. With her elbow on her knee and chin resting in her hand, she twirled her hair with her wand as she thought about Trubridges question. Not only had other students answered the question, but they had said most of the things she had know about the shields. Recollecting what she and Ivory had learned about the shield charm from Sir Lawson, she raised her hand. "Protego would be more effective than Impiriano if.....you knew what spell was being cast on you. That way you could focus the shield on that specific spell." She paused to ponder over the next part of her response. "It would also be more effective if you wanted to use the shield offensively. If your focus and shield strength is strong enough, then when a spell hits your shield, it can bouce back towards the person who cast it." |
Ah. Hadn't realized you'd posted. :P Quote:
The flowers were pretty, consisting of daisies and lilies and a couple others. He watched them and they headed towards the girl. He was able to keep the spell going without being totally concentrated on it, as he was getting distracted by the flowers. Pretty, pretty flowers. |

Ivory was ready. She was soo ready. She was singing and dancing and ready... Or so she thought. The speeding glint of light that indicated the spell heading her way understandingly caused her a split second panic and a rush of memories of course. But it was only a split second. Time enough for her to realize it was her best friend and not an enemy and they were in a safe environment...but then she had nothing to worry about because something else was imminent. Something that made her laugh quite a bit as it were. Water. Cold water, and quite a bit of it too. The spell had hit the top corner of her shield and thus when reverted to water and cascaded down the left side of her body leaving her wet and laughing. Smiling, she was just about to suggest trading places now when the Professor began talking again. Sitting down beside her friend, she cast the hot air charm they'd learned in herbology last year. Listening attentively, she dried herself off slowly. |
They were moving on? Ellie didn't know whether to think of this as a good or a bad thing. There would be more shouting. BUT they will be over sooner! Then quietness! Or hospital wing. She kept her head shoved in her hands. |
Quote:
Oh! she thought, we're moving on, are we? She paid attention while the other students answered the questions, having no knowledge on either of the two spells herself. She wrote down what the students said and waited for the next instruction. |
