Aww a Crup and a Kneazle in the classroom. How cuuute. Ella raised her hand quickly to answer the question. "Crups are loyal to Wizards, but hate Muggles." She said with her eyes still on the little creature. Even though they could get quite ferocious at times, they were still cute.

Noir saw Professor Lawson holding a Crup.."Oh my God..there was a kneazle and now a crup..they're so ADORABLE..!!" she thought..Noir raised her hand after she heard the question "Professor I believe that Crups is extremely loyal to wizards and ferocious toward Muggles and they will eat almost anything."

GAH!

Marie almost fell off the bench when Destiny tugged on the rope. Why did she have to be so mean? Why did she seem to think it was fun to tug on that stupid rope that was keeping them together against their free will?

Well two could play at that game. She wrapped the rope around her arm and gave it a tug of her own. 'HA! Take that!'

Then the professor brought out another creature. This time it was a baby crup. Well it didn't look mean or aggressive right now. Hmm, maybe they got meaner as they got older... like Destiny.

She raised her hand to answer. "Professor, like the Kneazle, the Crup also carries a XXX M.O.M. Classification. This would be due to it's aggressive behavior towards muggles and the need for its owner to know how to handle and control it when it is around muggles." She looked at Destiny, no wonder she turned to a Crup last term, she too could be mean and aggressive.

She looked over at Carter and suddenly had a question for the professor. Raising her hand again she asked, "Um Professor, Since the Crup does not like muggles does that mean they will be aggressive towards wizards and witches who are muggleborn?" She did not want that little creature deciding it wanted to attack Carter just because he wasn't a pureblood she would have to stupefy the thing if it tried.

Sidney watches the crup moving around in Professor Mrs. Lawson's arms. He/she is so cute. Sidney would love to hold him/her. She raises her hand. "Professor, if a wizard lives in a muggle area, he is required to remove the forked tail of the crup with a painless severing charm when the creature is between six to eight weeks old. This is done to make the crup look more like a Jack Russell Terrier, a muggle breed of dog." Sidney also knows wizards are required to get a licence from the Department of Regulations and Control of Magical Creatures after completing a test, but she hoping someone else will mention that.

Hermione looked up at the baby Crupp "Aww it is just as cute as the baby Kneazle" she said. "Wizards who own Crups have to have a license from the Department For the Regulation and Control Of Magical Creatures proving they can keep it in control in the presence of a muggle" said Hermione hoping she could it.

"There you are, Jake. You were so quiet, I didn't even seen you there."
"Yes that's right. Crups can be overly aggresive towards muggles." Which was why she'd only be assigning pureblood students crups in the nursery.

Iliana smiled. "Yes. They are wizard-bred dogs. Resembling a muggle dog breed."
"Yes Brody. That's the dog breed I was speaking of. Good job."
"Good Arya! And that is very important to know. You won't see many crups past the age of two months old that still have their tails. Owners are required by law to have the tails removed so that they are not noticed by muggles."
"That they are," she said, laughing as little Miles tried to eat her robes.
"Good answer, Evelyn," she said. "I think this one is trying to eat my robes as we speak."

"That's correct, girls," she said to the three with the similiar answers. "That's one of the most important things to remember when deciding on a crup as a pet."
"Precisely, Marie," she replied. "It is possible that those characteristics will show up early on. It helps if you're aware of their temperament."

"Now then, class... " she said, sitting back down. "Same question as before. If you were assigned a baby crup today, how would you care for it? What would be required from you to meet his needs?"

Hmm...Brody considered for a second, before raising her hand. "Well I would care for a baby crup by keeping the little thing in an environment that is free from muggles, which would reduce the chance of them becoming ferocious. I think that this would be best for the little thing, meaning it might be more of a cute than scary creature?" Because cute was rather better in Brody's opinion.

Ellie shot her hand up. "Well you gotta make sure you have lots of room for it to play," she stated. Her family had a sprawling farm and their crup had plenty of space to run and chase things.

Ooh Jacob had knew this... He raised his hand "You would need to watch them carefully, and give them lots of attention as to tire it out so they don't eat your bed, or anything else." TeeHee that would be funny to watch.

Feeling quite confident, Ella raised her hand again. "Well.. I would keep it away from Muggles obviously. As they hate them." She said with a nod, then hesitated before continuing. "And they eat practically anything so it would be easy to feed them." She shrugged her shoulders. She actually had no idea what was actually appropriate for a Crup to eat. "As for the actual looking after it.. I would just give it attention and keep it safe, and stuff.." She added. Just like taking care of any pet really.

Hm. Wouldn't that also be the same way you would care for a regular dog?

Jimbo raised his hand and tried to mention everything he knew.
"You would care for a crup the same way you would care for a regular dog, right? Although, Crups do eat anything...
You need to pass a test to get the license to own a Crup. I don't really know what's part of the test, but I'm sure it's mostly about making sure no Muggles notice it, right? And you have to use a Severing Charm on it's tail so that it looks like a regular Jack Russell Terrier. The charm doesn't hurt the Crup, though, so it's fine."

He wasn't sure he really knew much else about it though, so he put down his hand after that.

Arya grinned as she watched the little puppy chew at the professor's robes. "I would take him for walks around the castle grounds, teach him tricks, and keep him away from the muggleborn students." Cause we don't want the little thing attacking students do we now?

Whoa, these things hated Muggles and Muggle-borns? Suddenly Vashti didn't find the crup very cute at all. That was a creature she'd be staying far, FAR away from.

Raising her hand, she answered, "Well, you'd be required to be a Pureblood since you don't want it to attack you or anything. And it'd have to stay away from Muggles. And..." Hm... "Professor, is it possible to train a crup not to be aggressive towards Muggles if you train it from when its a baby? Or is that just an instinct that it has permanently and that can't be changed?"

What was all this talk about aggressive towards muggles? Not that, the crup SHOULDN'T be aggressive towards the muggles, in fact...she'd rather encourage it. But still...

After hearing everyone's answers, which pretty much sounded like taking care of any other dog in the world, Evelyn raised her hand with a question. "Professor, why are the so aggressive towards muggles in the first place? I mean like...why is that an instinct to be like that for them?"

Heck yes. Because Jake was a quiet little angel.

He wouldn't respond to that though.

But he did give a horrified cry about removing the tails. That was vulgar, even though there was probably a magical way that would mean no pain... crups were made to have TAILS. They were known for forked tails.

Raising his hand with an indignant look on his face, Jake sniffed disapprovingly and said, "I'd nnnot let it ggget it's tttail tttaken away."

True, in his first year, Jake had taken care of a baby crup; he had this subject covered. Lawson knew that.

Well that didn't exactly answer her question. SHe still didn't know if that little creature would try to attack Carter.

Hmm, how to care for the little creature. She really had no clue but decided to answer anyway. Raiding her hand she said, "Well since it resembles the characteristics of a dog then I am assuming you would care for it the same way you would a dog. Like for starters you would need to train it so it knows what it can or can not eat. You should also train it to not be aggressive unless given a command to do so." Meaning it better not be aggressive around her boyfriend.

Simon didn't know the answer.He was actually quiet all lesson , watching the hands shot up and listening to the answers.

Awww! She was right! It's a lil crup! Awwwwww!

"I would love it. And play with it. And feed it, cuz the eat everything so it'll be easy. And keep it safe. And keep it from people it doesn't like. And love it." And love it. And love it. And love it.

"Professor, you have to know what they can eat. Like puppies, baby Crups should have smaller pieces of food than adult crups " She said, a little disappointed because she can't hold the puppy.

"Very good, Brody. Most wizards that keep crups as pet live in areas where very few muggles reside."
"Wonderful, Ellie," she said. "These creatures are exceptionally high spirited."
"Exactly right," she answered. "Though I'm pretty sure your bed would be safe. They aren't goats." She laughed and shot the boy a playful wink.
"I think you've covered most of the basics. Good job."
"Actually the test required to obtain a license is designed to test your ability to control the crup in any given situation. Especially if they were to display signs of aggression."
"Great ideas, Arya. Activities, such as daily walks, would prove most beneficial indeed."
"Actually, I'm not sure if many of you know this or not but *I* am a half-blood. My father is a muggle. And well, I have had great success in raising the crups here at Hogwarts," she explained. "More than anything, crups need to be treated with love and respect. If they are introduced to muggles at a young age, they might learn to like them fine."
"Yes Evelyn, it is an instinct. Long ago, crups were raised to protect their wizard owners. This trait has evolved throughout the years. It's as natural to them as it is for a cat to chase mice."
Iliana smiled. "I remember, Jake. And I respect your decision," she said. "The problem in refusing to remove his tail is that you will never be allowed to take your crup home. He will always have to live here in the Sanctuary."
"Yes but remember this. Training may curve the aggressive behavior but it will not solve the problem. It is a natural instinct."
"Class, I would like you all to remember that LOVE is the most important thing you can give any creature. Magical or otherwise. Thank you so much, Ellie for mentioning it."
The professor laughed. "They are like little muggle garbage disposals, aren't they? Good answer."

"Now who here would like to hold Miles?" she asked, giving the puppy a scratch behind the ears.

"Can I hold him?" She said raising her hand.

Ooh! Another opportunity to hold a creature! And this one was at least ten times more adorable. Keeley blinked her large green eyes excitedly and raised her hand. "May I please hold him, Professor?"

Ahhh!! Hehe. She loved EVERYTHING

"Me me me me me!" she begged.

Then she cleared her throat and said, all politely, "Can I pleeeaaassee hold him? Please."

"Hmph," Jake grumped to himself. That was stupid and he could easily beat the system. It wasn't hard to sneak animals home. Though his parents might notice...

Heh.

"C-c-can I hhhold him?"

"Okay Arya," she said, walking over. "But if he starts to act funny AT ALL, bring him straight to me." She could never be too careful. "I'll be right back with the next creature."

And with that, she disappeared inside the sanctuary once more.
