Okay. Almost finished just need a last splodge of....paint. And NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. It was ruined. Shana tilted her head slightly hmm nahh you couldn't really tell there was a missed places spodge of paint. Hmpfh-ity-hmph. No going back now. She stood over her peice of paper she wanted it too dry so no one else saw her failure of work.
SPOILER!!: banner
Quote:
OCC: Professor Carlton ask us to design a banner showing support for our favourite, or house qudditch team using the Flashing Paint charm. I chose Slytherin because Slytherin is my house team and I don't really watch many other quidditch matches other than at school. I coloured my background Green, because green is the main colour of Slytherin. I attempted to paint a picture of the Slytherin crest onto my banner because colourblind people or people standing really far away might not be able to see the green so they would see the Slytherin crest and know I was supporting Slytherin. I put some supportive language onto my banner so that if My throat was sore I didn’t have to shout I could just hold my banner up and wave it. I put a piece of parchment because my banner was on parchment and we use parchment to write on in lessons, and I put a quill writing on a piece of paper to show work. I designed my banner to show my support for Slytherin. The flashing paint Charm really helped because if I hadn't have used my wand I wouldve probably still been painting my sheet of paper green and it would've been much more messy than it is now.

Trixie listened to the professors instruction and then was told to actually make a banner to support something or someone. And being on the Quidditch team herself, Trixie couldn't help but make a Slytherin house team banner could she? Goodness no, her patriotism for the snakes was far too much to not pass this opportunity. Hehe. So the Blonde took out her paper and the paint, along with her quill and a muggle pencil just in case she made a mistake, and got to work with her banner, her tongue stuck out in concentration as she worked away, hard, to make the best banner she could produce. But she knew specific instructions were to make the banner flash from one colour to another. And so that she could be patriotic to her house, instead of choosing her favourite bright and cheerful colours, Trixie went for what fit best. So once she had completed the drawing and painting to the best standard that she could, the Slytherin moved on to doing the charms aspect of the class.
"Colorus Fulgeo Green to Silver" the fifth year chimed, for she was still in that amazingly happy mood.
Tap. Complete circle to the right. Complete Circle to the left.
Well at least she had remembered those instructions. Tank goodness her permanent memory loss was in her past memories and not present. Now just to look down and see whether it worked. The girl had closed her eyes anticipating the result. But she slowly opened them and low and behold, it worked. It actually worked. Trixie grinned and was extremely pleased with her result.
SPOILER!!: Banner
Right. Now what was it that she had to do? Oh right.... The paragraph. So lifting out her parchment and dipping her Phoenix quill into the ink, Trixie set to work writing it all down.

It was placed her so it didn't take up to much room yet remained as a main and important feature of the banner. I feel that my attention is drawn up here first. I chose to use a Golden Snitch, in bottom right corner and a broomstick, bottom left corner, to represent the aspect of Quidditch in my banner, so we know exactly what the banner is for. For the writing, situated to the right of the banner and in black so that it is immediately different from the background, I chose to use, was a play on words, having "Slyther-In" as a double meaning. Representing both the house of Slytherin and also having a snake like connotation to the word "Slyther." The language used in this banner, is intended to be a pun, hence the double meaning aspect of the writing. It is intended to both amuse but also be cheerful and encouraging to the players. The colours I chose to flash from one to the other, was the house colours of Green and Silver. I chose to have the background paint flashing because I feel that this would be easily seen from a distance, especially if one was on the Quidditch pitch or in the stands. The area is so wide, it can be quite difficult to read from a distance. I created the banner, by drawing onto the paper first and then painting over it. I finally used the flashing paint charm to finish off the entire peice.

Right. Now what was it that she had to do? Oh right.... The paragraph. So lifting out her parchment and dipping her Phoenix quill into the ink, Trixie set to work writing it all down.
Aiden smoothly shifted his seat so that now he was right next to.... Trixie! Mwahah. Only to pester talk to her, of course. "Your banner looks good, Trix," he complimented.. then continued. "But mine will be better." Hahh. He curled his one arm around his project as his other hand worked deftly with various markers and paints to work towards his final masterpiece.
Nia bit her tongue as she worked. It was one of those totally focused 'I'm concentrating' kind of things. And she was concentrating. Her head nodded slightly as the colours changed and she waited for the right moment to cast the spell on the next letter.
Navy. Blue. Navy. Bronze. Navy. Blue. Navy... Tap. Circle right, circle left, incantation.
She was in the rhythm, and had soon progressed to the W with no mishaps.
Navy. Bronze. Navy. Blue. Navy... Tap. Circle right, circle left, incantation.
Phew. Done. With no errors. She smiled at it, pleased she'd tried to be adventurous and it'd turned out okay. Now for the finishing touches, once she'd helped the paint dry with a warm air spell. Didn't want to wreck it now.
Reaching for her pencil, Nia drew a small bird over the gap between the R and the A. She then used a transfer spell to copy it so there were seven in total. Useful little charm that, the ability to make a direct copy of hand drawn stuff to somewhere else on the page. Nia had used it a lot when she wanted to amend stuff in essays. A bit like copy and paste on a Muggle computer, really. Handy.
Then she picked up a fine paintbrust, and started to colour the birdies in. Four in blue, the other in grey. Not too detailed with the paint colour as Nia wasn't the most talented painter out there, but enough to show what they were. And then to dry them before the finishing step.

"Oh, I'm sure you'll be able to come up with something fun and exciting. I can't wait to see your creation," Lexi replied. Or the creations of any of her students, really. Being a very creative person, Lexi was having a bit of fun herself walking around and watching all the banners being made.
She started on her way again but stopped when Gold's hand shot into the air. She laughed lightly when she heard what Gold asked. "Sure, sure. It'll be fun to see what you think of to support," she said with a laugh.
"...and if anyone else wants to do a different type of support banner, feel free to go ahead and do so," she said, speaking to the class as a whole. Because, you know, it was always nice to get excited over the little things---like chocolate, cupcakes, or even high-heeled shoes.

"You're joking," he said only to realize half a second after he had said that, that she wasn't. Lawrd. She had been right, she did know nothing about paints. With an amused shake of his head, Xylon mixed an amount of white and red paints in a small container. "This is how," he said, as he wiped a brush across the new shade of paint.
He needed to decide what he wanted to make his own banner on.
Skydiving? Mwaha.
Oh.
Maii.
GOSHH!
Gold was sooo excited, now. If they could make any kind of support banner, that meant she could go wiiiild! Chocolate! Flowers! HIIIGH HEELS! She grinned, managed to say, "Thanks, Professor!" and then looked down at the paper in front of her, red to gold and gold to red, wondering how on earth she would choose between so many options.
She was jerked back to Planet Life-on-Earth by Xylon, whose smirk she had [thankfully] managed to miss, when trying to get her thoughts in line, and pick a topic for her banner. Right. She had been about to learn how to make the red paint, lighter. When Xylon explained, Gold was amazed by how easy it was [and yet she hadn't been able to think of that. Oh well, she had always known she was never going to make an artist.]
"Thanks," she said. "I never thought it would be this simple. I'll go get the stuff for my banner, now."
She slipped on her dragonhide gloves, rose to her feet, and headed to the front of the classroom, where she started to gather everything she thought she would need. Paint boxes - several brushes, including a flat, silicone one - thinner - polish - glue - more, lots more. In fact, half a minute after she had started rummaging, levitating and summoning, Gold realized that there were too many things, to carry back to her table. She would have to make some kind of arrangement, to help herself.
She thought about it for a second, and then conjured a red-and-gold pail. Carefully placing everything inside, Gold picked it up and, once she was sure she had everything she was likely to need - and, if she didn't, she could always force Xylon to make another trip for her, hehe - headed back to her table. She placed the pail next to her seat, started to unload everything that was inside, stacking it, placing it on the table in perfect order, so that she wouldn't have trouble trying to find something or the other, later.
Done, she finally sat down.
"Well, I'm ready to begin," she told Xylon, cheerfully.
No worries. He could try again later. Call her Fire. It was easy to get her to glare at him after all. But for now he wanted to enjoy this lesson because part of it concentrated on something he adored.
Painting, obviously.
"Good luck," he said when she had returned. "Fire," he added with half a smirk. For effect. Then he rose to his feet (before she could thwack a brush on his head) deciding it was time to get to work on his banner as well. Xylon knew he would have more than fun with it ---- it would be a perfect experience.
Painting always is.
If you put in passion.

"Oh, yeah?" Lexi replied, her eyebrows raised in amusement. "December seems like a wonderful month to have been born in, then." Lexi smiled and started to head to a different area of the classroom, but when Patroclus asked her about creating a December banner, she paused to think the matter over.
Of course she'd let him! Lexi was never one to tell her students no when it came to them being excited about something she was teaching. "Of course you can. Have at it!" she said, giving him another smile. It'd be nice to have a banner celebrating the lovely month they were both in.
"Awesome!" Patroclus cried as he rleapt from his seat, ran to the front of the room, and began to collect all his necessary supplies. He had a great idea, but it would take time, and Patroclus would have to execute it perfectly otherwise he would be rather up set with himself!
"I need you...and you....couple of those and of course a large piece of banner material!"
Laiden with his tools, Patroclus returned to his desk and laid everything out before himself, next he began to mentally map his plan of attack!

"Love it! My favorite part of the banner is the text," she said, glancing at the blue and bronze flashing words. "You can place your banner over there," she said, pointing to the area Keefer had just placed his, "then you're free to go. Enjoy your day!"
Mina looked up from her banner as she heard Professor Carlton voice and turned to face her. "Yup, I believe so." she replied with a nod as she smiled. It really did come out better than she had expected and she couldn't wait to see it in the stands.
Hearing the praise, she smiled brightly. It meant a lot to her that someone else liked her banner. "Thank you professor," she beamed as she pulled out her wand once again and cast wingardium leviosa with a swish and flick. Levitating the banner to the area where the other banners were drying, she lowered it and took a last look. Yeah, it was nice and she had done it herself. Smiling to herself, she returned to her desk and started to clean up.
Happy with her painted birds, a smile spread across her face. Now for the very final finishing touch. With a swish of her wand, the birds became animated, and started to walk. Not quite across the page, but still rather cute. "Awesome!" she said to no-one in particular. She stood back to admire her work, before clearing a space on her desk to write her paragraph.
SPOILER!!: Nia's Banner
Quote:
My banner is in support of Ravenclaw, for the upcoming Quidditch match against Gryffindor. I'll be on the pitch, so hopefully someone else can wave it around for me. Or I could take it to a Ravenclae gobstones match, as it isn't obviously specific to the quidditch match. I've kept it simple so it can be read easily from the other side of the stands. The only word, 'Ravenclaw', has each letter flash in turn from left to right. The colours go from navy to bronze to blue to navy, as these are the colours that represent Ravenclaw house. Getting them to run in sequence was tricky, as it was all about the timing of the spell. I think it looks pretty awesome though, and is a bit different. Across the top are seven birds, one representing each Ravenclaw player on the field. The bird reference is rather obvious, due to the Ravenclaw mascot, but mine are designed to be cute too in blue and grey. I animated them for a bit more charms work and fun, and I really like how the banner turned out.
Okay, so Sarah had some idea of what her banner was going to look like. Now she just had to actually PAINT it. And she was to painting, what giants were to flying. Rubbish. But, of course, as this was in-lesson homework, she was going to try, or be shown up as an idiot. Heh. Yeah.
So there she was, stood with paintbrush in hand, staring down at the parchment and frowning. "Hmmm, I think I'll put the crest here...." she mumbled, leaning forward and trying to draw the best badger she could, surrounded by the rest of the Hufflepuff badge. With her tongue stuck out in concentration, Sarah dipped and re-dipped her brush into the yellow paint, and then a fresh one into the black, then another in the grey. "Yeah that's... that's a really badly drawn badger," she snorted, shaking her head at it. Oh well, it would have to do. She'd taken long enough on it, can't start again.
"And the snitch and player can go down here..." Sarah tapped the parchment with her brush to indicate to herself where she meant, before once more leaning in and painting the silhouette of a giant snitch, and a Quidditch player on a broom, in pitch black paint. "There we go. Pictures all done." Standing back and smiling, Sarah appraised her drawings. "Not too bad, bar the badger...Now. Words."
Scratching her head with the end of her yellow-paint-dipped brush, Sarah thought hard about the sort of thing she'd be shouting at the upcoming match. Hmmm, what would they want to hear?"Ahaha!" Getting some fresh yellow paint, she started applying the words as neatly as she could.... and as big as she could. After all, when they were flashing it would nice for them to be seen. Satisfied with the job she'd done, she laid down the brush and took out her wand again. Now to the spell...
Tapping the yellow words she'd just written, Sarah concentrated her mind and said the incantation. "Colorus Fulgeo, yellow to black!"Point, circle right, circle left. FLASH? "WooHoo!" Sarah exclaimed, when the text suddenly burst into life. She repeated it for each lot of words on the page, before stopping and blinking at the flashingness. I don't think the rest would look right if I had too much of it flashing, she thought, nodding her head and stowing her wand.
SPOILER!!: Sarah's non-flashing, but we're pretending it's flashing, Banner
"Now I just have to do the paragraph. Great." Taking a quill and another piece of parchment, Sarah set about writing why she'd done what she'd done.

I thought what symbols best convey the game, and came up with the obvious player on a broom and a snitch... both recognisable. I added them near the bottom of the page, as a black silhouette to stand out better against the lighter parchment colour. And, of course, I put the Hufflepuff crest in the top left corner, with it's "badger". I chose to animate just the words, as I thought maybe it would be too much if all of it flashed. Starting them as yellow, and turning them to black and back, as they are the colours of our house. The actual words are what I normally shout during a match. I tried to come up with something witty, but in the end I decided that straight to the point was always a good idea. I guess you could say there are alot of words, but I wanted to fill the paper as much as I could. I would like to think that maybe the positive message would help the team. So, apart from the rather dodgy looking badger, I'd say I'm quite happy with this banner.
Putting her quill down, Sarah blew on the ink to dry it. Laying the two pieces of parchment side by side, she put her hand in the air and turned towards the Professor. "Professor Carlton... I've finished, ma'am." Yush, she had.

Finishing touches, finishing touches. That quote would look slickkkk, and he finally finished writing it out in special, fancy letters that took him forever to write! The Gryffindor dropped his quill and smiled proudly at the masterpiece banner before him.
"Colorus fulgeo red to gold," he spoke the incantation and swished his wand a bit, and voila! He grinned. Professor Carlton always had the best assignments.
SPOILER!!: banner
And now for the paragraph...

The solid gold lion on the left of the banner is more of the symbol of what Gryffindor stands for - bravery, chivalry, etc. - because I believe the simplicity of the lion figure makers it an excellent symbol. The actual lion on the far right illustrates the actual individual Gryffindor students, living and breathing in Hogwarts right now. In other words, the realism of this lion coincides with real students and their own unique lives. And the Gryffindor emblem, placed strategically in between the 'symbolic lion' on the left and the 'realistic lion' on the right, connects the values of Gryffindor house to the individuality of its students through the use of the Gryffindor crest. With bravery being the most salient characteristic of Gryffindor, I naturally chose to emphasize on it. 'Courage' draws the eye with its capitalized letters and translucent backdrop effect. The word also happens to be the first word in the quotation I placed on the banner. The quote I used is by C.S. Lewis; not only did I find it appropriate because it was about courage, but also because the author had written a novel that included a brave and just lion, Aslan, in his book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I also liked the idea of how his words suggest that courage has many facets, and cannot be categorized as simply a virtue; that it ties to all virtues. The color scheme of the banner is essentially Gryffindor colors - red and gold - with some black background to make it look sleek.

"Excellent job, Miss Miller. I love the "You rock" part of it," she said, knowing that was a popular phrase amongst the students. Lexi saw that there was a tiny drop of paint in a place where she didn't think Shana meant to put it, but it didn't mess up the banner at all. If anything, it just added a bit more character to the artwork. "When it's dry, you can place it over there," she said, pointing to the banners on the far side of the room. Right. Now what was it that she had to do? Oh right.... The paragraph. So lifting out her parchment and dipping her Phoenix quill into the ink, Trixie set to work writing it all down.
Spotting Trixie across the room, Lexi paused for a moment to watch as the Slytherin girl closed her eyes for a few seconds before getting a good look at her banner. When Trixie's eyes opened and a grin widened across her face, Lexi smiled, as well, then headed over to see the banner for herself.
"You see there, it worked, and you did a remarkable job," she said, watching the flashing colors of the Slytherin-themed banner. "You may turn the banner and paragraph in, then after that, you're free to go." As she talked, she pointed to the far area of the room where the finished banners were laying and to her desk, where a few paragraphs had been placed.

"Judging by your woohoo, I take it you're finished, Miss Griffin?" Lexi asked, approaching the table with a smile. She was still amused at the girl's reactions for both the banner and the paragraph. Just then, the girl confirmed that she was done...with both the banner and the paragraph, it seemed. "Your banner looks fantastic, and that's a well-written paragraph, too. Well done, Prefect."

There. Ta da! Finito.
"Now that is one awesome lion," Lexi said, coming to a stop beside Aiden. "Hmm...wonder if we could charm it to roar, as well..." "Well, if you're all done, you can turn in your assignments and be dismissed," she added, giving Aiden a little smile.

"Oh, thanks, Professor," Aiden said, when she complimented the lion. Ooh, making the lion roar would definitely make it better. But.. hmm. He wasn't sure about how to add in the sound. Maddie smiled and got to work designing her banner. Since Sel had convinced her into supporting Slytherin for the Quidditch cup, she'd need something to wave - especially if Trixie and Emma were going to be playing. She spread out the materials and began to paint quickly and evenly.
SPOILER!!: Maddie's banner. Can we just pretend it's flashing, since I have NO IDEA how to do that
Maddie smiled, happy with her work. One last thing... 'Colorus fulgeo white to silver' she muttered, waving her wand in front of the banner 'Proffessor Carlton, I've finished!' she proclaimed happily.

"Yup, you're welcome," Lexi simply replied. Most of her attention was still focused on the lion, though. She thought it would be absolutely spectacular to see that lion sort of come to life. Now all she had to do was put in a little research and see if such a charm existed. "Well, have a nice day," she added, glancing up at Aiden and seeing that he was gathering his belongings.

Oh? Someone else was finished, hmm? Approaching Maddie's side, Lexi took a good, long look at her banner---Ravenclaw pride, of course. "Nice job, Miss Force," she said. "Very nice job. Now as soon as it's dry, you can bring it the far side of the room and lay it on the floor. As soon as you've written your ten-sentence paragraph describing your banner, you can place it on my desk. After that, you're all done and are free to go."
OOC: Please PM me a link to the post containing your banner and paragraph, along with your heading (username, character's name/year, house, and member number). Thanks!
With his head down, and his bum up Patroclus worked non-stop for about thirty minutes, he had been hit by insipration and he wasn't going to stop till he was happy.
Armed with his jars of paint, his brushes and glitter, Patroclus worked feverishly, he wanted perfection and he was going to get it!
This here, This there! A little more here, Just have to put this here, and finish that!
Stepping back Patroclus surveyed his Banner, he was pleased but now it was time to see whether or not the spell would work.
Taking his wand Patroclus pointed to one section of colour and said, "Colorus Fulgeo Turquiose to Red" with a circle right, and a circle left. Moving his wand to another section, he said "Colorus Fulgeo White to Green!" with a circle right and a circle left.
Success! It worked, and looked amazing too!
Wiping his hands on his apron, leaving to lovely hand prints, Patroclus took up his quill and a sheet of parchment and began to work on his Banner Description!
SPOILER!!: The Banner
SPOILER!!: The Description
For my Banner I decided to go against the norm, and rather than choose a house or internation Qudditch team, I with permission for the lovely Professor Carlton choice to create a Banner celebrating the fact I was born in December. I decided that I would encompass as much as I could that is involved in the month of December, and that resulted in the Inclusion of the Zodiac Signs, Birthstones, Christmas and the Weather. The two main images included in my poster are the Centaur and the Goat, representing the December Zodiacs of Saggitarius and Capricorn respectively. The colours I used on these celestial images are the colours reflected in the Birthstones of those Zodiac; Topas for Saggitarius and Ruby for Capricorn. The Orginally Background of the banner also reflects Birthstones, as is evident in the use of Turquoise, as this is the stone of the month of December. But not only does the colours of Turquoise express the birthstone, I have also used it to show the weather of December. The blue and white can be seen to symbolise the snow and ice of Northern Hemisphere winter, but at the same time the pristine water's of Summer in the Southern Hemisphere, the two seasons December endures. To create the look of turquiose stone, I used a mixture of white and blue and sponged it onto the banner to give it a textured look, rather than a simple one deminsion of blue paint!
It would not be December without Christmas, so by use of the Flashing Charm the orginally Banner, transfers into one of Green and Red, the colours of Chirstmas and with the inculsion of the gold star, I hoped to create a Christmas Moment! The Text of "December Born" is a simple slogan that is evident in both flashes of the Banner, to show I am proud of my Month, where every I am!
Idiot.
"Water," Gold threw back at him, in a perfectly cheerful voice. She was not going to get angry at that nickname, she had decided half a second after he had said that, and her green eyes had narrowed. Now her pupils were no longer narrow. Because yes, if he called her 'Fire,' she was going to call him Water, and that was that.
End of matter.
Yep.
Fully aware that the moment Xylon would start to work on his banner, he would forget everything else - including her, his own smirks, and his need to annoy, and happiness in annoying, her - she finally set to work on her banner. Which she really, really needed to hurry up with, because a few people had already left, and others still were packing or getting up. Whoa. People were leaving, and she hadn't even begun!
Talk about late.
Well.
She was ready to start now, at any rate.
To begin with, Gold knew she would need an easel. Because, fully aware of her lack of artistic abilities, she was sure that if she worked at one of the tables in the classroom, she would not only mess up her own work, but also that of the people who had the [mis?]fortune to share the said table with her. Right now, it was Chris, Eli and, of course, Xylon.
Xylon, who might go mad with grief if she accidentally spilled varnish on something he was making.
So yes, she would need an easel.
Thankfully for her, it looked like Professor Carlton had provided everything they could possibly need, because there had been quite a few in one of the boxes at the front of the classroom. Easels, that is. Gold had specifically chosen a pretty, brown Field Easel when she had been rummaging in the boxes to gather what she thought she needed or would need to make her banner, because she knew it was easy to use and transport, given its collapsible legs and medium size.
Beside, she had no idea how to handle a bigger easel.
Obviously.
Having set up the easel, and fixed what was her canvas, Gold could move on to the next step. She levitated the neat stacks of paints, polish, glitter and so on over to where she stood - close to the table she had been sitting at, but in a space that she knew was vacant, and would not hinder anyone else in any way - and fixated them, there. Now she had what she needed, right next to her, suspended in mid-air.
Lowering her hand, Gold placed it back into the wrist holster that was its most comment home, and grabbed a paintbrush.

...
No. They weren't. And now she had blue paint on the tip of her finger. NOOOO! Get it off! She didn't look good in blue! Well, she did... but not THIS blue! EEK! Looking around for somewhere to wipe it off, she realized that she was, in fact, wearing the apron. Mwaha!
Whaaat? "The dungeons?" she asked in confusion, looking over at her friend as she wiped the paint onto her light green apron. How in the world was it like they were in the dungeons? There was too much color in the room...

Evelyn wouldn't notice a CLASSIC piece of art if it bit her in the behind. She poked Evelyn's shoulder to get her attention, "Look. That screamer guy is BITING you!"
Bahahaha!
Right on the behind!
As she waited for her MASTERPIECE to dry, she pulled, closer to herself, the banner sized paper so she could work on the assignment. Too bad she couldn't just use that other picture..it was GOOD! She picked up a bottle of green paint, since she was making a Slytherin banner, she started to pour it on the paper. "Yeah, the dungeons." They didn't have windows either.
Picking up a paintbrush, she started twiiiiiirling it around on the paper, "Whatchoo' making?"

Not being able to wait for the paint to dry any longer, Evelyn scowled and crumpled up the piece of paper before going and getting a much larger paper. Hehe. This one would do.
Picking up some silver and green paint as well as a much larger paintbrush (and perhaps one of the smaller paint brushes), the third year Slytherin made her way back to her desk before plopping herself down in her seat and scattering all the things in her hands onto her desk top. Good. Everything she needed was here.
Glancing at Destiny and her 'work of art', Evelyn's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she could not see...a screamer guy or her in the painting. It looked like a meatball and spaghetti. Well, at least it was pasta and not something gross like pizza or something. Unless it was chicken and white sauce pizza. That one is amazing.
"Yea, cool." she mumbled before moving back to her banner thing. Time to outline her painting! And she already had something in mind for it. Picking up her pencil, she started to draw what the banner would look like, half listening to what Destiny was saying at the same time. "A banner." Obviously! That's what they were supposed to be doing.

Destiny watched in HORROR as Evelyn went and crumbled up her painting with the three dots. "Why did you do THAT!?" she asked, scooting her own painting away from Evelyn so she wouldn't crumble that too. One can never know when their masterpieces would be in jeopardy. Now that her painting was safe, and out of the reach of Ms. Crumbles-A-Lot, she went back to twirling her paintbrush in the blob of paint.
Her banner was coming along FABULOUSLY!
When Evelyn came back from getting her own banner sized painting, Destiny frowned. Her paper was better. Better in more ways than she could imagine! Pffft. Huffing, she twirled her paintbrush a little harder, not noticing the green splatters on her school robes. "It is cool. Know why? Because I made it." And everything she made was as cool as cool can be. Which, in her opinion, was pretty cool.
As Evelyn said what she was making, Destiny couldn't help but roll her eyes. In fact, that answer was SO obvious, she rolled her eyes TWICE. "Wise guy..girl."

Because...it was making her impatient!
Of course she wouldn't say that to Destiny, instead, she just shrugged her shoulders. Continuing on with drawing on her banner paper, in the back of her mind, she could hear the paint being splattered everywhere from the crazy girl next to her. Raising a brow at how Destiny was painting, Evelyn maaaay have scooted her chair and desk over a little ways away from the danger zone...
...and pretended to pick up a paintbrush. Mmhmm, that was totally the reason she moved.
Snickering though on why the picture was cool, Evelyn couldn't help but agree. "Of course. That doesn't even need to be said. It should already be known!" Yup! Smiling, and FINALLY finished with the outline of her banner, Evelyn picked up one of the larger brushes and poured a good size blob of silver in the middle. IT was going to be needed for the entire background.
Painting the entire paper, she missed Destiny's eye roll since she was paying attention more to where she was painting. There were two thin lines that were not supposed to be painted. Making sure the coat was thin enough so if she painted over it, the second color wouldn't spread everywhere, Evelyn picked up one of the smaller paintbrushes and started more on the details of the painting.
Feeling like it was a century later, Evelyn finally placed her paintbrush down and sat up straight, streeeeetching to crack her sore neck and back. GAH! She hated painting. Preferring the pencil or charcoal instead. Her pictures always came out better that way. Looking down at her banner, the young Slytherin smiled since there was only one thing missing.
The words.
Taking a medium size brush, she dunked it in the green paint before hastily writing the words on the banner. She was tired of painting. FINISHED! Thank Merlin! It only took FOREVER too. Okay, okay okay. Wiping her hands on her apron, Evelyn picked up her wand before glancing in her notebook for the spell. Colorus Fulgeo...something to something. Okay! "Colorus Fulgeo Silver to Green." she said, tapping her wand GENTLY so no paint would stick, and then the complete circles to the right and left. Hmmm, nothing. WHAT!?
She should've practiced on the demo painting. Pffft. It didn't dry fast enough though. "Ugh. Alright. Colorus Fulgeo Silver to Green!" she said a little more louder. WOR- GASP! It worked! And noooooow, it didn't. EPIC FAIL! "Colorus Fulgeo Silver to Green!"
Narrowing her eyes at the flashing colors, kinda surprised that it worked on all the silver on the paper, Evelyn mentally dared it to stop working. It would end up like her other paper if it, but it didn't look like it was going to stop. GOOD! It shouldn't stop. Not until muuuuuuuuch later that is.
SPOILER!!: Evelyn's banner!
Evelyn's other parchment
My banner, obviously, is a Slytherin banner for the upcoming Quidditch Championship game. While Hufflepuff has a good team, there was just no way was I NOT going to be making a banner to support my house at this most important time of the year. Having seen in the muggle world that they used checkers for the indication of a starting line, and finishing line I suppose, I thought that would be a neat idea to use on my banner as well. The checkers on my banner are more of an indication that Slytherin will start and finish…in First! Whether figuratively or literally; and if not in first, then we are still completely awesome. And if not in first, then we tried our best and we will not back down from improving and coming back full force the next year! I’ve also lightly sketched the Slytherin symbol in the background to show my support for my house. To finish up my banner, I used the Slytherin house colors to bring it all together. Since this is a Slytherin banner and everything, and not a Hufflepuff or Gryffindor one, it only seemed appropriate to do so. Plus the colors silver and green are just awesome and would have used them regardless of what banner I was doing.
Ten minutes down the road, and she looked like a disaster.
There was paint down the front of Gold's once-PINK! apron, paint in every colour under the sun. Some of it had dried, most of it was still wet, and now it threatened to DESTRUCT her shoes. Well, damage them as much as paint can, at any rate. Her poor, ex-spotless shoes!
Le sigh.
But, YES! She was a witch! So what if she had gotten messy? Gold could use her wand to siphon it off!
This, she proceeded to do at once. Of course, given that her mind was basically on her in-the-works banner, she did not succeed greatly. Most of the wet paint took its leave, but the dried bits remained, some on the tip of her right shoe. Gold wondered whether she ought to vanish those -- and then decided that, in her present state of distraction, she could cause her shoe [and possibly her foot] more harm than good.
She didn't want to take the risk of possibly losing a toenail. There was no doubt that that would be plain painful.
Straightening up, she looked round. EEP. The classroom had emptied, considerably. Only a few people remained, now. But at least Xylon was here. That made Gold breath a sigh of relief. She grabbed her paintbrush again, accidentally wiped it right across the surface of her apron in the process, and shrugged as she applied a coat of red, glossy paint to brighten up the surface of the rose she had painted.
She liked this task, that she had to admit. It was refreshing, even wonderful. She could get why Xylon liked this. It calmed, in a messy clothes, messy hands, messy everything sort of way, and there was that feeling, the one you had when you looked at a good stroke, or a touch that was especially beautiful, something that looked real, even larger than life. It made you want to try harder, persist until you could will colour of another kind altogether, that of life, into what you were working on.
Her job with the paint done, Gold cleaned her hands, and took off her apron. It had gotten really, REALLY messy. To the point where she found it hard to concentrate because of its disastrous condition. Switching it for another, she sprinkled soft, silver glitter on the roses, used white tape for a thick, inner border, and then black tape for a relatively thinner, outer one. She proceeded to sprinkle some red-and-orange glitter on the bottom left corner, before using simple, deep PINK! paint to 'headline' it.
Colorus Fulgeo Pink to Black.
Tap, point, circle, circle and... and done.
DONE.
It was hard to believe she was done. She had started at an empty table, and more than two aprons, lots of tissues, a half-empty bottle of silver glitter, a couple of rolls of coloured tapes, and a broken paintbrush later, she was DONE. Gold could have jumped for joy, if she had not taken a look down right then, and realized that both her shoes were wet, covered with sticky, red-and-brown paint. Paint which had trickled into her socks and - now that she was not concentrating on the banner to the point where she tended to forget everything else - felt very, very uncomfortable.
Eek. EEK.
Shaking her head, she cleaned her hands, screwed back lots of lid,and placed everything she had taken, back in its proper place - including the broken paintbrush, which she happily fixed with a simple Reparo. Then she returned to her seat, used wand-work to help her banner dry far more quickly than it would have otherwise; and, placing it on the table, dipped her quill in PINK! ink to write down her explanation of why she had chosen to make this banner. When she was sure she was done, she raised a hand to get Professor Carlton's attention.
"Should I place my banner with the others, professor?" She asked, sweaty but clearly cheerful.

Love, Love, Love, La - La Love, La - La - Love makes the world go round.
Love. Makes the world go round. ♥
I have designed a Chocolate-and-Roses Pride banner, Professor! Chocolate with roses is, by popular consensus, one of the most beautiful combinations to see. It is exactly this - the beauty of this combination, and its symbolism of love - that made me want to focus on it, in my effort. The layout of the banner is simple: It is doubled-bordered, with a thin, black outer boundary and a thicker, white inner one. The focus is several different kinds of mouth-water chocolates, laid in the company of a couple of fresh, wet red roses - red, and not any other colour, because red symbolizes love, joy, beauty and a truckload of other, gorgeous emotions and sentiments, all in one. Chocolate and roses have both, at one time or the other, been labelled 'Divine.' They are both also known to hold a special place, in symbolism related to love, romance and the heart. Hence the sub-caption of 'Divinity in a heartbeat' over the name of the combination, which flashes from pink to black, and back again, because PINK! is obviously one of my favourite colours, and black is an all-time favourite colour to show enigma and mystery, add a tint of subtlety. The last touch is the ever-changing, white heart in the top, left corner - white for the representation of something pure and calming, and the change in size to symbolize versatility and richness.
It kind of looks gold, but brown didn't look nice. So pretend. :D
be curious, not judgmental
Painting wasn't really her thing, but Becca instantly knew what she wanted her theme to be - besides the obvious Ravenclaw aspect of it. Since Ravenclaw already lost to Slytherin, there wasn't much of a point in saying, "Ravenclaw for the Cup!" Maybe it would have worked if Becca would be back for another term so then she could add, "We'll get 'em next time." But, alas, that wouldn't make much sense.
So she started out on her great artistic adventure. She painted the background a nice faded blue color. With a thin paintbrush, she tried a very neat line of text towards the top. She then set the paintbrush back down in the white paint and grabbed a new paintbrush for the bronze. In big, bold capital letters she wrote the word "Ravenclaw." Hm. Simple but acceptable.
Once again, she used the thin white paintbrush and carefully wrote another line towards the right of her banner, then another bigger, cursive line in the center. That was the bottom-most point of her banner, and she gave it a firm nod of approval. It was kind of corny, but she felt this was an appropriate situation to put her feelings into a masterpiece.
Next, using white paint to make different shades of blue and brown, Becca tried her best to make an accurate representation of a Ravenclaw crest on the left side of her banner. It turned out fairly well... just slight issues here and there. The paint ran a bit, but the professor would certainly be able to tell what it was. It wasn't TOO awful.
Her space fillers were small paintings of each Quidditch ball on the right side of her banner. She used brown paint for the bludger, a more brownish-red color for the quaffle, and bright yellow mixed with a hint of brown for a snitch with white wings. Then, she painted a simple beater's bat in the empty space below the text on the right side, too.
Becca tilted her head to one side, looking over every aspect of her banner. It looked pretty darn good for someone who did not excel in art. "Hm. Outline," was all she said before picking up the bronze paintbrush and adding some spiffy outline-ish things around the word 'Ravenclaw.' That looked much cooler, didn't it? As a finishing touch, she simply outlined the banner in bronze paint.
There. A masterpiece.
Now for some color-changing. Hm. The bronze in the middle looked good with the faded blue background. How about... the faded blue to a darker blue? Just to make it even more spiffy and add to the house spirit, Becca pointed her wand at the background of the banner and said, "Colorus Fulgeo Blue to Navy!" Ta daaa! It was absolutely brilliant.
With the flashing background, the Ravenclaw pride, and the personal aspect that she put into the banner, Becca was pretty proud of it.
SPOILER!!: Aw. :)
Then, she began to write out her explanation on a piece of parchment.
Quote:
My banner represents my adoration for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. Rather than an overall supporting banner such as one that many of my classmates have made, I decided to make it a more personal assignment. This being my last term on the team, every goal, block, snitch grab, and practice has been a cherished moment. The memories I have made by being on the team this term will live with me forever. To show my love and support for Ravenclaw Quidditch, I used the house colors of blue and bronze to decorate the banner. The white text shows up clearly in front of the background that flashes from a light blue to navy blue. Because Ravenclaw lost our first match to Slytherin, we cannot be the winners of the Quidditch Cup. However, the text briefly describes that winning does not matter to me as much as the memories and friendships with the teammates that will last forever. The snitch, quaffle, bludger, and beater's bat represent the fact that each position of the team is important and essential. The Ravenclaw Quidditch team wouldn't be the incredible family it is today without each player on the team.
...Yep. That sounded good.
Becca's hand shot up in the air. "Hey professor, do I win?"

Brody had never really properly painted in her life. So yes....she brought paintings because that was what a proper little rich girl did right? But she'd not painted in her life, mainly because her mother didnt really have any paint in her life. So she was quite excited for this. hehe. Now she totally had to do the banner for hufflepuff, seeing as she wanted them to win the cup.....obviously.
Picking up a brush, and dipping into the yellow paint (Because yellow was awesome) She began painting little hufflepuff crests onto the canvas, so that everyone would know the banner was for hufflepuff yey. Next she went around the edges with a black edge. Yey. Next she painted another yellow background and with a black colour painted "Hufflepuff For The Cup"
Now to make it animated. "Colorus Fulgeo Orange to Yellow" She smiled at the banner. Now because the yellow was in your face, it totally showed that she was supporting hufflepuff yey. And now she was done. Yey.
SPOILER!!: Bannner
Then with a piece of parchment she wrote an explanation,. yey.
Quote:
For my banner I decided that seeing as I am in Hufflepuff I should really do a banner which represents, and shows supports for my house. I felt like I wanted the banner to be very "in your face" and grab people's attention, so that is why I decided to use the house crest over and over, and I then put a sort of orange sheen on it. I feel that this would show a good amount of support, and it would also show everyone else who I was supporting. To go along with the house crests, I also put some lettering onto it, which would mean that even silly people will be able to figure whom I was supporting. I feel that this banner really could be used to show represent hufflepuff spirit and shows that everyone in our house should support our team yey.
I also think that my banner is quite basic, which could mean that it doesn't overwhelm people, thus meaning that individuals can read it quickly, and get the message that is being put across. I think that this is important, because it will allow individuals to understand who is supporting who, without having to read a lot of text. I know that I'd probably get a bit bored if there was a lot of text in banner, so I therefore think that by using little text on my banner is a positive idea.

Lori had always liked to paint, the mess she hadn't liked much, but she was a witch, so that helped wonders. Paintbrush in hand, she dipped it into the white paint, to make the banner-sized paper fully white; because fully white was cool.
After that, she pulled out a pencil from her bag, and set about drawing a badger face onto her banner on the left hand side. Badgers were pretty. Hehe. And they weren't rodents, no matter what Oliver-Bloody-Glitter-Poodle-Greenwood said. Once she had finished drawing her badger, she started to draw a biiiiig butterbeer. Heh! Butterbeer Badger! Woot!
Once she had finished her drawing that side, she set about drawing the Hufflepuff Crest on the right hand side. She was glad she had it pinned onto her robes, so she could look at that for reference, it was easier than drawing from memory. That way she always forgot something. Siiigh.
She started to paint her badger using another white paint[this one had a little bit of yellow in it, so you could differentiate], then black and brown to fill in the remaining bits of the face, the butterbeer glass and then the outline of Butterbeer!Badger.
Lori smiled appreciatively over her work, and then glanced over at Goldie quickly, and chewed at her lip before she glanced towards Brody. Gosh. Talk about falling apart. She was ready to just walk out of the class, without turning in her work. Then she could sit and be depressed some more, and try and catch Goldie to talk to her.
It took her about another ten minutes to paint in the Crest, but she was working with fiddly bits of detail on it, so it took twenty minutes in total for that to be perfectly finished.
Now, onto that text! WOOT! It was obviously going to be for the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team, because they were all so cute, and Lori loved watching them play. Nothing to do with the fact she WAS a Hufflepuff, and she wanted them to win
'Hufflepuff for the cup!' was yellow, and as was the cheer for Miranda at the bottom! WOO!
Then inbetween her text and the pictures, she decided instead of putting her name SMALL, it was going to be BIG! And pretty, and black, glittery and pink! WOOOT! Haha!
Tapping the Hufflepuff reference and then the Miranda one right after, with her wand, Lori did one full circle to the right and then the left and spoke "Colorus Fulgeo Yellow to Black!" And there was her flashing text there!
While the black paint of her writing had been drying, Lori had sprinked some pink glitter on her name and the heart. Because it was pretty.
Then she tapped the black paint, and again did one circle to the right, and another to the left. "Colours Fulgeo, Black to Pink!" WAHOOOOHA!
SPOILER!!: Banner -- lets pretend its flashing the colours I said, and there's glitter on the black. Ha!

I painted the Hufflepuff Crest because it signifies WHO I am supporting, and because it's cool. Yep, the crest of our House is really really cool, and I like it. Because it's yellow. I also painted a badger face, and that is because the animal on our crest is a badger, like the Slytherins have a snake, Ravenclaw an eagle and Gryffindor a lion. In my badgers hand there is a butterbeer, I painted this because butterbeer is yummy. And because when you celebrate something I think of butterbeer, so I give you... the Butterbeer!Badger. My banner has a theme of Yellow and Black, and also pink and glitter, because the former pair are the Hufflepuff colours, and the latter pair contains one of my favourite colours. I used glitter on it, because when the sun hits the glitter it will sparkle more, and then my banner would be noticed more. And I like to be noticed.
