Making sure there was no paint on her hands, Evelyn picked up her wand and was about to make the paint dry faster since there was no way she was tapping wet paint, when an arm suddenly filled her vision. And then yellow. And then her paper with her three blue dots on it. Whaaat?! Looking to her right, the Slytherin raised a brow at how much yellow paint Destiny was using, but she burst out laughing when she heard what it was. "You're right. It looks like Stutters." Or Kay. Whichever was fine with her. Snickering, and deciding that she shouldn't risk not using something the Professor herself taught them, Evelyn instead started to gently blow on the paint. Dry faster! Dangit! "Wait, you should paint a friend with it." she said, glancing at Destiny out of the corner of her eye as she continued to blow on the paint. Becoming...dizzy... |
Oooh so they could paint now? Chris waited as patiently as he could for the paper and other supplies to arrive at his desk and as soon as it landed, the Gryffindor snatched it up and looked at the paint choises. Ok so he had a brilliant idea, Red of course! Rawr!!!! He took a paint brush and then used the red paint to cover the entire page. Slower than some others, darn his OCD and tiny, perfect brush strokes!!! After the page was completely red, the Head Boy pointed his wand at his creation. First he made a clockwise circle then a counter-clockwise circle, next speaking the incantation, "Colourus Fulgeo....." Crap he had forgotten what color he was going t ochange it too. Oh yeah Gryffindor colors. Pointing his wand at the paper again, thinking of color gold this time he began the movements. One circle in the right direction then one in the left direction and then, "Colourus Fulgeo, Red to Gold!" and then he watched as a second or so later the paper changed from a deep red to a bright gold color. It continued to change back and forth every few seconds or so. |
Tori was excited as the lesson progressed. It was a bit magically artisitic, two things that she liked. She listened carefully to the instructions of the professor. Tori thought carefully whether she may need an apron but discarded the thought. If she messed up then that would be that. SHe liked colours and didn't mind adding a little flair and colour to her uniform. |

Jimbo ran to get one that was green then ran back to his spot and used his wand - and the charm they learned the first class - to add pink polka dots to his apron. Just like the last time. The paper and paint was on his desk in front of him. He stood up as he picked yellow paint. He had a good amount of fun painting the white sheet of paper, first painting shapes like spirals or stars, then animals and such, but decided to stop fooling around after a bit and painted the whole page yellow. Picking up his wand again, Jimbo tried the spell, focusing on the pronunciation. "Colorus Fulgeo, Yellow to Pink." Nothing. Hm. Oh, wait. He was so focused on the pronunciation he'd forgotten the wand movement. Well. Again then. Full circle right, Full circle left. Tap. "Colorus Fulgeo, Yellow to Pink." Bad pronunciation that time. He tried again and grinned as the sheet of paper turned pink. Yay. See, he was good at this. He loved charms. He charmed it back to Yellow after one failed try and kept trying it back and forth until he mastered it. |
Question for the Professor Finally, they were going to get to paint. Marie already knew what she was going to paint so she was more than ready to get started on this project. Opting out of wearing an apron she waited for the supplies to be passed around. As the paints came by she grabbed the colors she would be needing. "Professor, can we make two banners?" she asked raising her hand? Yep, she needed one to cheer on Slytherin when they beat Hufflepuff for the cup, and another to cheer on Carter when Gryffindor beat Ravenclaw this coming weekend. Picking up the paintbrush she dipped it in the first jar of paint and started making random lines and designs on the paper. She figured it wasn't important what she painted right now since this was just for practice. Waiting for the paint to dry she spun her wand around in her fingers practicing the incantation in her head. 'Colorus Fulgeo, Colorus Fulgeo, Colorus Fulgeo'. When the paint was finally dry she pointed her wand at the paper and gave it a full circle to the right, a full circle to the left, a tap and "Colorus Fulgeo, Green to Silver." Yes! It was working, her design, whatever it was, was flickering between green and silver. This was soooo cool. She wanted to do more. Grabbing another piece of paper she now painted it with the 2nd color she had chosen. Once it was dry she pointed her wand at the paper and gave it a full circle to the right, a full circle to the left, a tap and "Colorus Fulgeo, Red to Gold." Yep, that would work perfect for the second banner she wanted to make. If she gets to make two that is. |

Text Cut: Marie Lexi smiled as she heard Marie's question. Well of course they could make two banners. Lexi surely wasn't going to tell a student they couldn't put in a little extra practice on a charm. "Of course, Miss Salazar. We're getting ready to start our banner project right now, as a matter of fact," she said, smiling at the girl then turning back to the class as a whole. "You may continue practicing the charm on the paper, but make sure you listen carefully for the next set of directions," she told the class. "We're going to get started on our banner project now. Your assignment is to create either a house spirit banner or a Quidditch-themed banner using the Flashing Paint Charm (OOC: Banners do not have to actually be animated and flashing). The Quidditch banner can be for a Hogwarts house team or a professional team---your choice." She waved her hand toward some boxes in the front of the room. "The boxes in the front of the room contain all the supplies you'll need, including banner-sized paper, extra paint, and extra paint brushes," she explained. "This project is worth up to 15 house points per student, so be sure to do your best work. The directions," she said, turning toward the board, "are here on the board. You may begin as soon as you're done practicing on the paper." (OOC once again: The following directions are written OOC, but in the roleplay world, Lexi has written nice, in-character directions on the board). Flashing Paint Charm Banner Project/Homework 3
OOC: For clarification, you don't have to wait to post until your banner is ready. You can roleplay your character painting, chatting with others about ideas, talking about what you plan to do, etc. Then when you are ready to post your banner and paragraph, you can. |
Sorry, must've started typing right before you posted! Keefer had a propensity to create messes. His creative genius simply could not be confined to a small area. Or something like that... Alright! Paint time! he thought as he walked to the pile of aprons. He grabbed one and put it on as he walked back to his work area. Or at least he tried to. In the short walk back to his seat he managed to get himself thoroughly tangled with all the arm holes and ties. "Right-o, I think I could use a little help here from someone," he said. Hopefully a helpful student would come to his rescue--eventually. But there was no time to lose waiting! He must get to work! Grabbing the nearest jar of paint, he opened it up to discover a brightish teal hue. "Nifty color! Now what shall I change it to...?" he wondered aloud. "Ooooooooorange!" Getting excited, he made a grab for the nearest paint brush, knocking over the little jar of paint in the process. "Whooooopsies! Better clean that up. Turgeo!" His yew wand siphoned off the mess, leaving the table good as new, except maybe a bit smellier. A little slower this time and careful not to let the tangled apron get in the way, he dipped his brush into the remainder of the real paint and began to paint his paper. Nice and thin, now. Gotta cover the whole thing! He stepped back to admire his work, failing to notice the new teal marks on his hands, wand, and robes. Bravo, Keefer! A true masterpiece. But now's the hard part. "Colorus fulgeo teal to orange!" he pronounced, deftly tapping the paper. He then moved his wrist in a circle first to the right, then to the left. Immediately the color flashed to orange. "Cooleo!" Time to actually make the banner, I think. And he set off to designing in his mind's eye. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Alex sighed getting up and looking through the boxes grabbed a few different size paint brushes, a few different colors of paint and a posterboard for it and went back to her seat. Alex then sat at her desk frowning, trying to decide what to write, she would do the Quidditch Team Banner on her own House Team because well that was all she knew actually. Maybe something like Slytherin's For the Cup? because Alex knew next to nothing about Quidditch at all infact. Hmm, maybe a snake at the bottom and then the snake lifting the cup in the air in victory? That was a good idea Alex decided now for the actual words before she drew the snake. |
Choosing a colour was a hard enough task for Patroclus but now they had to choose a team as well...Ahh! Selecting a nice Green, Patroclus strolled back to his desk, and slid his apron over his head. To be able to make the banner, he first would have to be able to perform the spell. Sloshing his brush into the green paint, Patroclus slapped it onto the page and covered every inch of the page, till it was as green as grass. Setting his brush aside, Patroclus took up his wand, and cleared his throat. Point, circle right, circle left, "Colorus Fulgeo, Green to Red" The page in front of him, gave a shiver, then flashed red. At first it was only for a second, then it returned to green, however on the next flash, it held the red hue for a little longer. "Awww Christmas Colours!" Patroclus smiled to himself! |
Professor Carlton, Keefer and Xylon <33 Text Cut: Quotes! Gold nodded. "I'll give it a try, Professor." But, for now, she obviously had to do what they would be instructed to. Gold decided she would get out cloth and fabric paint later on, maybe tomorrow night when she would [hopefully] have less homework to tackle, and looked up, to see and hear what else Professor Carlton had to say. Which was when she saw the kid, who was all a-tangle. "Need any help there?" She asked politely, raising her voice a little to ensure that he would be able to hear her. Text Cut: Instructions! Oooh, this could get messy. Especially considering that Gold couldn't even hold a paintbrush, without causing a master mess. She looked around, green eyes bright, and realized that people had already gotten up. Well, of course. This sounded exciting. Even though she knew she would make a huge mess. SOO. Where was Xylon Saar when you needed him? Gold looked around again, as if he might jump out at her from behind one of the tables. As could be expected, he did not and Gold, with a little shrug, resigned herself to the fact that he might not be here. Or he probably was. He might even run in late, if he realized what this lesson bordered on. She knew he loved to paint, and even carried that Reducible Paintbox on himself. Meego Beego, or whatever it was called. It had never interested her, to be honest. She couldn't paint to save humanity. Sitting up straighter, she summoned an apron to herself. It was pink, the kind that Lori would have loved, and Gold mostly summoned it because it reminded her of the Fashion Brigade. Which, she sometimes felt these days, had ceased to exist. No Brody next term. But life would have to go on. So shaking the dreary thoughts off, Gold picked up a paint brush, dipped it in PINK! paint, and dabbed it on to a piece of paper. Colorus Fulgeo Pink to Red! Tap, point, circle, circle. The blob of paint flashed, now a bright red, and Gold tried the charm again. Red to gold. Then it was gold to pink. Pink to red. Red to gold. The cycle continued. .... and she hadn't made a mess yet. Shocking. Truly shocking. |

Simon looked at the Professor as she said something about banners. "Professor what if you don't even know what a banner is?" He hadn't heard that word before. "What is a Banner?" He asked hoping that no one would laugh at him for not knowing. |
After listening to the explanation of the Professor about the homework Dianna was finished painting her paper. "Yellow paper to.. Green!" she exclaimed. "Colorus fulgeo yellow to green." Ta-da! Now to think of her banner... |

"Yeah, that'd be great! Somehow I got a bit tangled up in this apron." |
Iris listened to the professor as she gave them the instructions for what they had to do, and then made down some notes so that she wouldn't forget anything. YAAAY. Painting time. Even though the topic was Quidditch, and Iris didn't really like Quidditch, She didn't care. It was painting, and then charming the paint. So it was still FUN. She got up and got some huge paper and some extra paint brushes in various sizes, and then went back to her seat. Then she got her bag and moved over to where Jimbo was sat. "Heeeey Jimbo. I'm gonna work next to you." Why? Well... Why not. Iris picked up a pencil and quickly sketched out ideas on to a smaller piece of paper, so that she could decide on what she wanted on there. Then she got a second small sheet when she was happy with her little poster, and put some splodges of green paint on the paper. She was gonna try and practice it with three colours. Oh yes. Full Circle right, then full circle left, and TAP. "Colourus Fulgero Green to Pink to Yellow!" Just green and pink. Great. She frowned and then repeated the spell several times, until she got to the result she wanted. Iris grinned to herself as the paint changed to pink, and then to yellow before going back to green and repeating. BOOYAH. She looked up at Jimbo and smiled brightly. Now, it was time to make the big poster. Iris picked up her paintbrush and began painting away. |

Thank Merlin for knowing how to use a wand! "Is that better?" the sixth year asked, glad that she had been able to un-tangle the protective garment. |

"Glad to have helped," she said. "Good luck with your banner!" Which reminded her, she needed to get back to her own table, and get a start on her own banner. It was worth a lot of points and Gold, fully aware of her lack of artistic abilities, or at least any skill to paint, knew she might have to try harder than most to make something that was even passable. But, since she was here and since she did intend to make a banner, she was going to have as much fun as she could, in the process. Like they say: If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! Sooo, yes! Time to have fun! Straightening up, Gold gave the Hufflepuff boy [she hadn't asked his name. She decided she would, after class] a small but warm smile, headed back to the table she had been at until a few minutes ago, and sat down. She was ready to sail! But she craned her neck, one last time, to see if she could possibly spot Xylon. He had to be here! |
Okay Right. Paint. Now Shana wasn't the best person at using paint, actually she was probably worse than like a five year old or something, she ALWAYS got it everywhere without a doubt so she'd better wear an apron. She looked down at her robe, yep a apron was definitely needed. She walked to the front of the classroom and grabbed a apron before putting it on and moving back to wear she was sitting. Okayaly-dokealy, she was ready. She tapped her wand onto the little pot of paint before circling it left and then right then pointing it at her peice of paper. "Colourus Fulgero green to lime." Okay. That should do it. |
SPOILER!!: LORI <3 HEHE. Lori was going with pink again. Boy did the girl love that colour. Sarah grinned at her as she watched her friend practice the wand movement and incantation, getting it right, just like she had. Clapping her hands together all excited like, Sarah nodded at the question posed to her. "Oooh that would be - bright. Haha. But urrrr, they're not painted, so we can't change them. Unless we paint them first...." A devilish grin spread across her face at the thought of painting the walls to then go changing them. Nope. Not a good idea. Might not go down well with the boss's and peoples. SPOILER!!: Professor Carltoneh #1 WOOOOOOOOT! PAINTING! For some reason Sarah had regressed to childhood during this class. She suddenly remembered what it was like in reception class of her first muggle school. They would all get their paints out, and do a lovely painting for their parents. Something that was meant to be a dog, but looked more like a one-legged giraffe... but your mum and dad loved it anyway. Happy days. Now though they got to make that paint FLASH. Bouncing with excitement as the paper, paint and brush landed on her desk, Sarah took a quick glance up at the front. Did she need an apron? Urrrrrr. NAH. Scourgify would come in handy afterwards if needs be. Less fun when you're protected. Sooo, she may as well go with the colours she'd been practicing saying. Dipping a brush into the black paint, Sarah sloshed it all over the paper and waited for it to dry - occassionally lowering herself to look at it from a different angle with the light shining on it, just to make sure there were no wet patches. Once satisfied she wasn't going to have it stick to her arm, she flourished her wand and concentrated. Tap. "Colorus Fulgeo black to yellow!" Circle right... Circle left. "It flashed!" Sarah squealed as the colours changed back and forth for a few seconds, before slowing down and stopping completely. "Oh. Guess I need to practice a bit harder to make it last. Meh." SPOILER!!: Professor Carltoneh #2 They were going to do WHAT?! Make a banner for their house and/or Quidditch team? COOL. Although Sarah didn't actually HAVE a favourite Quidditch team, not outside of school anyway. She just knew that Miranda and her Huffies were going to feature on it somehow. In all their pretty flashingness. "Lorriiiii... what are you going to draw?" She asked, turning her head to her fellow badger. Perhaps they could plan together...? And maybe her friend knew a way to draw good people so they didn't look like sticks on a broom. Heh. Grabbing a fresh piece of paper, and another brush, Sarah chewed the end of it as she thought about what to do. |
Fallon had gotten the hang of the spell pretty quickly. Her paper still sat in front of her flashing from green to purple. Two of her favorite colors. She sighed and smiled as Professor Carlton said that they could move on. Fallon went and grabbed a piece of paper and some green paint. She was totally going to make a Slytherin sign. Snake and all. She started to brush out the lettering before she was going to worry about the Snake. After a few minutes of painting, the banner read: Go Snakes! Go! Not completely original, but it worked. She looked around the room to see what everyone else was doing. |
Hmm, Amy looked at the blank sheet of paper and deciding on her design she pulled out her bag and grabbed her pencil case and notepad, doing a few rough sketches on the paper so she could decide what looked the best.... After eventually deciding on a simple drawing of a badger on a broom, with the broom flashing diferent colours and a golden snitch in the corner flashing back and front from gold to black she jogged to the front of the class and took out an apron, she held it infront of her and casted the colour change charm coloros revolvus baby blue with spots, she put the apron on and tied it at the back, then walked back to her desk and began to sketch out a basic bager shape... |
Yes! She could make two banners. Now she would have one for both matches that were coming up. Marie went to the front of the room and got the materials she would need to make both banners. Which was just the paper and an extra brush since she already had the paint at her table. Back at the table she spread the first banner out and got to work. She had a lot of work to do if she was going to get both banners done before the end of class. Which she planned on doing. |
SPOILER!!: Nix Jimbo was thinking about what he was going to do for the project and was about to get his materials when Monty showed up. Jimbo grinned at her, "Alright, fine. But if you were planning to work next to me, you better have brought over enough materials for the both of us." Because really, she was already over by the boxes, it would be nice if she saved him the trouble. He watched as she mastered the flashy spell. "Impressive." He said to her, grinning. "Although I could probably get it in less tries. What banner are you doing anyway? I haven't really got any ideas for mine. Maybe you can help out." |
Quote:
Rolling her eyes at Jimbo as he spoke up again, Iris pushed his arm, "Egotistical, much?!" Then she had an idea. She grinned at him. "Go on then. Four colours. Less attempts than I did." HA. She just wanted to prove him wrong, but, y'know... It was fun. hehe. "I'm doin' a Slytherin team one ... It's the easiest to do. I think." Heehehe. She picked up her paint brush and carried on painting the snake. |
