Alcemee got an apron, pointed her wand at it, swished it the right, and then swished it in a circular motion to the left. "Colorus Revolvo Blue!" she said, turning it to Ravenclaw Blue. Then she sat back down and took her wand out, ready to begin.
Alex pulled out her wand again wondering if the teacher thought everyone had put them away after they turned their apron different colors or if they had done it wandlessly. Alex did however wait patiently waiting for the Professor to give them the next spell.
"If you haven't already gotten an apron and changed it to whatever color you wanted it to be, hurry and do so now," she said, addressing the class. "If you're all set to go, go ahead and return to your seat and let's get ready to move on." As she talked, she distributed a wooden spoon and a mixing bowl to each of the students. "Wands out, please!"
Right.
Having accepted a nice wooden!spoon and a mixing bowl, Gold placed her wand, in front of herself, and waited for further instructions. Until then, she was going to eye her cute, pink apron with the Gryffindor lettering. Or maybe Professor Carlton's.
Because, you know, pink is love. Gold beamed at her apron, as she thought this, and then waited some more.
Well, thank goodness they were learning how to cook with magic, because Kellen certainly wasn't any good at the other kind. He glanced down at his apron, deciding that he was going to leave it white and not think about how girly it was. If he was honest and shared his thoughts with others, they would be something like how his apron was the armour shielding him from the enemy of food-spatter, but... yeah no, no one was ever hearing that.
Simon walked back to his seat after getting an apron and putting it on, he took out his wand, he wasn't confident in using his wand at the moment but he knew he had to get used to it somehow, he sat looking straight at the Professor wondering if to say something or not, in the end he just didn't say anything.

OOC: Just for clarification purposes, when Lexi said, "Wands out, please" my intention was for that to mean keep your wands out not get your wands out. I realize now I should have worded it a little differently, but that was the intention.
"Cupcakes---that's what we'll be baking today in class. First, though, we're going to learn a helpful little charm that will...well, pretty much do lots of the work for you. Now there are other charms that can be used in baking, and in the end, you could use a number of charms to pretty much do the entire process for you," she explained, as she weaved her way through the maze of tables in the room. She stopped in the center of the room next to a table of about four or five. "The charm we're focusing on today, though, will cause a spoon...or any utensil, really...to turn on its on and a washrag to clean all the dishes for us."
"Follow along...," she instructed. Still standing next to that table of four or five, Lexi grabbed one of the extra wooden spoons and placed it inside one of the extra mixing bowls. With a swish, flick in the direction of the bowl, she said, "Wingardium Leviosa!" When the mixing bowl was about a foot or so in the air, she tapped her wand against its side and said, "Fixate!" The bowl stopped levitating and fixed itself at the height it had been at when she'd tapped its side. "You'll want to actually levitate the bowl rather than just raising it by hand. Fixate will fix anything attached to the bowl---fingers included. Although, a simple finite will cure anything of the sort...just in case, you know."
"Follow all directions, and you shouldn't have any trouble, though," she stressed. "Now once you've got your mixing bowl and wooden spoon hovering in the air, you can cast a locomotor charm to get the spoon to moving as you need it to." To demonstrate, she pointed her wand directly at the spoon then began turning her wand in the direction she wished for the spoon to go in. "Locomotor spoon," she said, her wand still turning. The spoon began turning in the direction Lexi's wand was turning in and at the speed her wand had been turning. "Notice the spoon is following the direction and speed of my wand. You don't want the spoon to turn too slowly or...fling batter all over the room." On that note, she sort of half-glared, daring anyone to try anything of the sort on purpose. "The mixing bowl and spoon will continue like this until you just point your wand at both and use finite. Just be ready to catch them...especially if you're using the same charm to wash breakable dishes..."
"How is this charm helpful...getting a spoon to turn on its own, I mean? Why would someone want to use it?" she asked, her eyes scanning the room. "...and if there aren't any questions, you can start practice the charm now. When everyone seems to have the hang of it, we'll start the baking."
OOC: It's only normal that some characters, especially the younger ones, will have trouble with the charm at first. It's not realistic for everyone to master the charm on their first few tries, so feel free to get creative if you think your character realistically wouldn't get this at first.
While Lexi waited for the ideas to come in and for the practicing to begin, she charmed the chalk to list the steps on the board.
Put the spoon in the mixing bowl.
Direct your wand to the bowl. Swish and flick then say "Wingardium Leviosa."
When the mixing bowl is about a foot or so in the air, tap your wand against its side and say, "Fixate."
Point your wand at the spoon, then turn your wand in the direction you want the spoon to go in and at the speed you want the spoon to go in. Then say, "Locomotor spoon."
The mixing bowl and spoon will continue to work their magic until you point your wand at both and use finite.

Yay, they were going to use their wands for this class.
Finally a cooking lesson she could use magic on. Taking the empty bowl and the wooden spoon from the professor, she placed it right in front of her. She then got her wand back out and waited for more instructions.
"How is this charm helpful? Why would someone want to use it?" she asked, her eyes scanning the room. "...and if there aren't any questions, you can start practice the charm now. When everyone seems to have the hang of it, we'll start the baking."
How was WHICH charm helpful? The professor had just mentioned a lot of them, you know. Gold raised a hand, anyway.
"Professor, Locomotor would be helpful in the sense, that it allows us to rest our arms -" She remembered, having to stir potions quite endlessly, last year. It had been a nightmare, when they had not been allowed to use a self-stirring charm, on the stirrers. "- as well as multitask. That's exactly why we would want to use it, too."
"... and Finite is just plain-around helpful," she added, still not sure which charm Professor Carlton had meant, to be honest. "Since it can help stop anything that goes wrong, right away."
Simon looked at the Professor as she did the spell, he watched her carefully there was no way, he'd do this the first time, he decided he would try the spell.
""Windardium Levisa!" He said quietly, but nothing happened to his bowl, surely he must be doing something wrong.
"EEK" he was scared the Professor would yell at him for not being able to do the spell, with his hand trembling he raised it. "Professor I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong." He hoped the Professor wouldn't mind him saying anything, he just needed a little bit of help.
Mischief managed ♥ / / Breath, smile and let it go.
Pam listened to the instructions given and kept her wand. She thought the professor was pretty nice. Well, the professor had let them change the colours of their apron and let them decorate it the way they liked. To her, any professor who was like that was nice even if they were just doing their job. Well maybe it was because she liked art or anything that had to do with colours. She looked at the mixing bowl and wooden spoon that was given out to her and looked up as she heard the next instructions given by the professor. "Cupcakes?" She thought to herself. "Sweet." When she had heard the rest of the instructions, she started feeling nervous as she wasn't sure if she could do it properly. Step one was putting the spoon into the bowl. "Not too hard", she thought to herself as she put the spoon into the bowl. She then looked at the instructions given on the board and tried to remember how the professor had demonstrated the steps earlier on.

Teegan listened carefully to what the Professor was saying, though she knew this process could be used for such thing as baking she had never tried it for fear of blowing something up...and because you weren't supposed to use magic outside of school.
Teegan nodded her head and waited until the Professor wrote the instructions up on the board and copied them into her notebook on a fresh page behind the lists she had copied earlier in class before she started. She already had the spoon in the bowl. She placed a small check mark beside that bullet.
"Wingardium Leviosa." She spoke as she directed her wand to the bowl. She levitated it in the air about twelve inches before speaking again. "Fixate." she smiled as the bowl fixated itself right there in the air. She turned to her notebook and checked off the next two steps on the list.
She pointed her wand at the spoon, "Locomotor spoon." She said almost dully, the spells were quite simple and boring at this rate, but they were BAKING so it had to be at least a LITTLE fun right? She moved her wand in circles and watched as the spoon did the same thing within the bowl.
She smiled as she reached over and checked the next point. Thus, she had the same thing that the teacher had demonstrated. She looked around to see if there was a student she could help.

Worth a shot, right?
She was SO not in her element, these days.
"Thank you, Miss Laksh. Two points," she said, smiling and nodding in the girl's direction. "Now let's put all that together and try and come up with a few ways we'd want to cause a spoon to mix all our ingredients for us. What's the benefit in doing that?" Again, her eyes scanned the classroom, as she invited anyone with ideas to share.

"Make sure you're clearly saying the spell just as it's supposed to be said---it's Wingardium Leviosa. The wand movement is just a swish and flick," she said, nodding towards the boy then then bowl, indicating for him to try again. "Go ahead and give it another shot. It may take a few tries."
"Everyone should be practicing the spell and trying to get it down pat before we begin baking. The steps are on the board, and if you have any questions, let me know," she said, addressing the class.
Alexandrie put the spoon in the bowl quickly then swished and flicked her wand pronoucing, "Wingardium Leviosa" clearly the bowl didn't move at all. She sighed trying again..and again before swishing and flicking angrily pronoucing, "Wingardium Leviosa!" causing the bowl to rocket upwards Alex calmed herself down the bowl finally dropping to a foot. She tapped her wand against the bowl feeling foolish saying "Fixate." The spoon was still swaying side to side and Alex repeated the motion, "Fixate" she said again this time the bowl was infact now attached to the spoon..or was the spoon attached to the bowl? She then moved her wand in the direction the spoon was supposed to be moving in saying firmly, "Locomotor Spoon." finally the spoon moved in the direction she pointed it in. At least that one didn't mess up she thought proudly.

Oh. That was nice, and it made Gold smile. "That would save us time, effort and worry?" she suggested, hand still in the air. "I mean, we would have total control of the speed and stuff. It's like we can personalize, what we're doing, unlike with muggle appliances. You have set specifications, there."
... and then she put her wooden spoon in the mixing bowl she had been given. Now to practice!
She pointed her wand at the bowl, swish-and-flicked it, and gave the Levitation Charm a shot. It was, of course, old, old, old now. Gold had been doing it since her first year. So thaaat was easy. She tapped her wand against the bowl, when it was about twelve inches in the air, and pronounced, "Fixate." There.
Then she turneddd her wand, to make her spoon move, practicing a bit to settle at just the right speed.
Jen smiled smugly as she grabbed her wand, she and her mum had practiced a few of these charms when she was younger, she was quite confident that she would get most of the lesson.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" Jen said while doing the proper swish and flick movement. When the bowl raised about a foot in the air, she said, "Fixate!" And it stayed there.
Jen pointed her wand directly at the spoon and said "Locomotor spoon." And the spoon twitched a little bit and was still again. Jen frowned in frustration but wasn't going to give up yet. "Locomotor spoon" She said again, this time it stirred around twice and then became still. "Locomotor spoon!" Jen said more forcefully and with more focus, and the spoon finally obeyed her. She smiled.
Mischief managed ♥ / / Breath, smile and let it go.

Pam looked at the professor who had just asked a question. She wasn't really sure but decided to try to answer. She raised her hand, " So we won't have to use so much strength?" She said uncertainly.

Maddie wrote down the other list that had been added to the board and picked up her wand. She was glad they were doing Wingardium Leviosa - she'd been practising it at the Lake. She was hoping she'd be able to do the other one, too. She pointed her wand at the bowl, and said 'Wingardium Leviosa!' Yay! It worked! The bowl was now floating, and she pointed her wand at it again, this time calling 'Fixate!' Again, it worked. The bowl was stuck in the air, now. OK, next step... she aimed the wand at the spoon, and turned it clockwise, fairly quickly. She then said 'Locomotor Spoon!' and it span round at that exact speed, the same way. Awesome! Since she was done with practising, she put her hand up 'Proffessor, it could be helpful it the recipe required something to be mixed at a high speed' she said, hoping this was right

Put the spoon in the mixing bowl.
Direct your wand to the bowl. Swish and flick then say "Wingardium Leviosa."

Point your wand at the spoon, then turn your wand in the direction you want the spoon to go in and at the speed you want the spoon to go in. Then say, "Locomotor spoon."

CUPCAKES! Selena was overjoyed. She wanted hers to be drizzled with chocolate. Selena placed the spoon into the mixing bowl 'Swish and flick,' Selena reminded herself. "Windgardium Leviosa," Selena said clearly as she did the correct hand movement. She levitated the bowl up then tapped the side of the bowl. "Fixate," Selena said as the bowl stayed suspended in the air. Everything was great so far. "Locomotor spoon," Selena said after she turned her wand in the correct direction and speed. The spoon was moving at an okay pace. She was satisfied. Her first attempt at the locomotor spell was successful.
Santi smiled as the professor explained what to do, it was something he had done a million times during the summer. Legally, he wasn't allowed to use magic during the summer, but coming from a wizarding household, there was no way the Ministry (neither Canadian nor Britain) could tell who was performing the charm. Since his parents were at work or in the other room and it was his job to make dinner, he would use some charms to speed up the work.
Santi swished and flicked, "Wingardium Leviosa." The bowl flew into the air and when it reached the level he wanted, "Fixate." Then putting the spoon in and revolving his wand slightly faster than normal, he said, "Locomotor spoon."
He smiled as he stepped back to admire his work. He was grateful that charms was his strongest subject for he found them more useful than any other. Gazing around the room, he looked to see how others were doing, keeping an eye out for a familiar face.

Cupcakes!
Destiny sure did like them. Hopefully they weren't making chocolate ones, for she could not be held responsible for what she might do with chocolate in her system.
She watched as Professor Carlton stole borrowed one of the students bowl and spoon as a demonstration. The levitating spell, Destiny already knew, but the fixate one, well, now knowing what that spell did put a slight smirk on her face. She could just..point her wand and have Evelyn fixed to her chair!? Mwaha! That spell was definitely going to be practiced. Later on though, not during class.
The Locomotor spells, she was somewhat familiar with. She had used some type of that spell before. She couldn't remember which one at the moment, but it would come back to her. "The Locomotor spell is helpful to those that are lazy." Herself included. Although she didn't mind stirring a spoon herself. She wasn't that lazy.
Not having any questions..at the moment, Destiny placed her spoon in the bowl and pointed her wand. "Wingardium Leviosa." she said, giving a swish and a flick. HAHAHA! The bowl was flying! Flying perhaps a little too high.. Bringing the bowl down to a normal height, she said a quick "Fixate." and with a tap the bowl stopped. There. No more runaway bowls and spoons. She pointed her wand at the spoon this time and turned her wand in a clockwise direction, "Locomotor spoon!"
Woooot! Magic.

Rae picked up an apron in class and decided on gray. "Colorus Revolvo Gray." And there it was, now turning to see the class full of students she wasn't sure who to sit with, maybe someone new? Ugh that stupid promise to get involved. Well might as well try and keep it, she noticed a boy sitting alone and decided upon him. She walked over and sat next to him. "Hey, I'm Rae." She said to him whilst extending a hand.

"Hey, I'm Kel," Kel whispered to the girl that had just joined him. He shook her hand, looking over his shoulder, hoping the professor wasn't looking. But really, he had to introduce himself, since the Rae had introduced herself to him first. But! Now to look busy and good-student-like. He gave Rae a small smile before standing up behind his desk.
"The charm would be helpful so you could, um...multi-task?" he suggested, raising his hand. "I mean, the spoon could mix the batter and stuff, while you went and did something else."
Now, for the magic. He eyed the bowl in front of him for a minute before going for the spell. Wingardium Leviosa was an easy enough spell, it was getting the spoon's speed right Kel was a bit iffy about. Well, might as well start now. "Wingardium Leviosa." he muttered, swishing and flicking his wand at his bowl. He watched as it rose to about a foot above the table, and said "Fixate." His eyes widened in dismay as it continued to rise. He quickly checked the chalkboard, and sighed. "Fixate." he said again, this time tapping the side of the bowl. Tada! It worked.
Now, for the spoon. He started moving his wand around in a circle, at a speed that he thought would be good for the spoon. "Locomoto spoon." he said, nodding to himself. He smiled as he watched the spoon start going in a circle. Looking around, though, he realized that it was going slower than the other spoons. With another sigh, he tried again.
"Make sure you're clearly saying the spell just as it's supposed to be said---it's Wingardium Leviosa. The wand movement is just a swish and flick," she said , nodding towards the boy then then bowl, indicating for him to try again. "Go ahead and give it another shot. It may take a few tries."
Simon looked at the Professor at least she wasn't telling him off for doing it wrong, so that was a good sign wasn't it, he hoped that the Professor would bare with him whilest he learned since he wasn't used to using a wand. "Okay Professor I'll give it another try."
"Wingardiumleviosa." He said quietly and hurringly, he really wanted the spell to work but it didn't. "Professor." He said as he looked at the bowl. "It just doesn't want to move." Simon sighed, he was totally hopeless at magic.
Kenna, with her light blue apron, brought out her wand. Putting the spoon in, she aimed her wand. "Wingardium Leviosa!" She said a little too loudly. The bowl slowly rose. She looked over. Selena and other people were alredy doing it. "Good job Selena!" She called. She turned back to her own bowl, wich was almost three feet in the air. "No!" She cried. The bowl was still rising, "Finite!" The bowl came clattering back down, and most of the contents fell out.
She grumbled as she cleaned up.
Starting again, "Wingardium Leviosa." She said more surely than the first time. At about a foot, she tapped the bowl. "Fixtate." Stuck in place, she aimed at the spoon. "Locomotor spoon." She tried. Moving with the same pace her wand, the spoon stirred. With her free hand she did one of those victory jabs.
