ooc: My apologies! I didn't even notice! *blushes* I need sleep! Thank you Maxie about the initial code on the board... Quietly was correct! <33
Ah yes... another one talking about its use during wars. "Quite useful. You just better pray that the other side isn't using the same code," Fina mused, thinking of how bad things could be if both sides use the same code. "But just another thought while on the subject of the wars... which is that, don't forget sometimes your position might entail simply cracking codes. So you would know what the opposing party is saying. That is a career." A difficult one, but rather well paid.
"I like your mention of parseltongue. You've clearly read up on your History of Hogwarts, Prefect Laksh." Fina noted quickly before carrying on. "While you related this to codes, it is also a language, which means that codes can be defined as a language, in some sense. Just as languages can be defined as codes." If that made any sense at all? Which might to those who have some concept of other languages.
[COLOR="#6960EC"]"You all are doing well with the codes, and seem to have a good idea of when to use it..." Yet no one seemed to like the challenge of a harder code. "Time is nearly up for the lesson so I want you all to put away your parchment trains and open your minds up to Head Girl Toussaint's message. First one to solve it will earn their house ten points." Using quick charmwork, she put the message up on the board and enlarged it:
Gold nodded. She got what Professor Hadley meant. Code = language = code. It obviously made sense. Jotting down a few notes, she looked up again when Professor Hadley mentioned Cela's code. Gold would have liked to have tried her hand at it, but Cela had not asked if anyone would like to have a go at the code. But now it was on the board!
Gold immediately got to work. But, before she could figure out the last word, Mina had already announced that she had done so. Smiling, Gold gave the girl a thumbs-up. "Good job," she said, cheerfully.
YUSH.

OHH. Gold, who had received Dianna and Daisy's messages nearly simultaneously, realized that the class had come to a close. In fact, Dianna had already gotten up to leave. She folded both the notes again, and dropped them into her bag, before screwing the lid back on to the bottle of PINK! ink that stood on her desk.
"GREAT lesson, Professor," she said, as she rose to her feet, having deposited her textbook [which she had barely touched, in this lesson] in her bag. "I had fun."
Maybe she could grab a peppermint candeh on the way out.

Listening to the Professor deliever the homework Patroclus was surprised as he was hit in the face by not a plane but a ball of Paper! It seemed the plane never recovered from the dive.
With a heavy heart Patroclus quickly returned the note.
ooc. Unsure whether or not Evelyn has left?
ooc: no she hasn't left the room yet. Though was about to. hehe.
Turning to leave, the Slytherin suddenly found the paper ball at her feet, since she looked down and all. Whaaat?
Glancing at Patroclus, Evelyn picked up the note and opened it up. Not really needing her notes anymore to figure out the note, the hazel eyed Slytherin smiled and took out her pencil from her bag. Hehe. Throwing the note back to Patroclus after she quickly scribbled her note down, Evelyn turned and plucked a peppermint from the stash before exiting the classroom.
Sleep was neeeeeded!

Eli wrote down the assignment, wondering who he could partner with. He packed up his duffel and then lingered, waiting for the professor to be un-busy enough to talk with.
"P-professor Hadley?" he asked in a shy voice, approaching the professor. "I was wondering if you'd do my code. I made it just for you."
He held up a paper he had folded into an origami flower. On each of the petals was a number. One petal had a little arrow and he had written 'start here'. Going around the circle of petals was this code:

Catching the note, Patroclus needed no key to decipher the return message, he smiled at the note, and watched at Evelyn dashed from the classroom. Putting his things into his bag, Patroclus thanked the Professor, "Thanks for a fun lesson, Professor! Enjoy the rest of your day!"
Patroclus swung his bag over his shoulder and made for the door. "Dont mind if i do" he smiled pocketing a peppermint candy.
All in All a great lesson, he thought at he left, and began his long climb to the Seventh Floor

Xylon scribbled something on the paper Gold had passed him and then rose to his feet, the movement graceful as always. "Catch," he said, a very faint smile playing round his lips as he tossed her the folded up paper.

Gold was surprised, when she heard Xylon speak. She had thought he would have left, by now. He wasn't one to linger after class, after all. Raising a hand, she swiftly caught his note.
"Caught," she grinned.
Bending down, so that she could have the surface of a desk for support, she quickly decoded the message [she did it within thirty seconds, mostly because she had known what to expect], scribbled down a new one - this one not in code - and tossed it back to him.
Then she waved to him and, grabbing a peppermint candy on her way outside, left the classroom.

Josephina nodded respectively at each student as they thanked her for the lesson and left the classroom. She was about ready to pluck a peppermint into her own mouth, when her fingers hovered just above the bowl at the sound of a shy voice.

Staring at the Ravenclaw first year for a moment, she took the origami flower from him ... albeit reluctantly at first. Reading the numbers, she shook her head. UH?! WHUT?! Two step code?
"Joy? Vomit? Sorry? What sort of code is this, Mr Jarod?" she asked, raising her eyebrow at him and shaking her head. She'd dealt with many codes before, but this one just ... made no sense.

Eli smiled, sighing out happily and swinging his feet as he looked at her with a dopey and rather smitten expression. She was really really so really pretty! He liked her eyes; they were so smiley. And he liked it that she raised her eyebrow like that. That was neat.
She was so pretty. And smart, since she taught arithmancy! Even if she hadn't given him all fifty of the points for his little trick, she had given him ten which was more than he'd ever gotten for one thing, and she gave it to him for being clever, which meant she understood him. Plus, she was just... smiley-eyed and pretty faced.
He shrugged, very pleased with himself to have momentarily stumped her. "It's a two step code. It sounds like you got the first part right." Maybe she'd give him extra points for cleverness! Maybe she'd think him so clever that she'd let him be teacher's pet and her assistant and he could stay after class grading parchments with her or something, and maybe he could stay for tea after. That would be so lovely.
