"Oh, No problem." Etoile never had problems with numbers, that's why she thought arithmancy was so exiting. Etoile looked down on her Parchment. "Are we supposed to read what it says about us, or are we supposed to wait until every one else finishes?"
She shook her head. "I'm not sure...Professor Hadley never really said that we should read what it says about us..."

And now they needed to be partnered again and he didn't like partnering with people and the pain would be doubled since they should be partnered with people they didn't know. Shrug.
Looking around, he scrutinized each of his classmates' faces in order to know which one he didn't know because really, he knew almost every people around or at least, by their first names and looks. And then there was the Slytherin girl who he usually see with Evelyn. Assuming that she didn't have a partner to torture yet, he quickly walked toward her with a crooked smile.
"Hey. You. I don't know you. Can we be partners?" Truth be told he didn't know the girl's complete name but he did know the girl's first name... Destiny. And it sounds feisty and Destiny and feisty even rhymes together! Hehe.
No takers?
Perhaps the smile that was upon Destiny's face was a little too intimidating. If smiles could be intimidating. It had to be the reason, or else she would have had a partner as soon as the Professor said find a partner.
Unless everyone knew she was HORRIBLE at the subject.
At least she knew how to count!
Wiping the intimidating smile off her face, she still glanced around the room for someone to come and save her from being partner-less. Sure, she could have picked someone, but what fun is that? No, it was more fun to watch people fight to be your partner..which was not happening at the moment.
Just about to claim defeat and do this task on her own, someone had approached her! Yes! This saved her from doing all the work on her own. She beamed at the other girl before directing her gaze back down at her parchment.
"Now, first we'll calculate our Life Path Number, 'kay?" Nancy didn't wait for the other girl to reply but simply went on, "For that you first take the number of the month of birth, which in your case is 7." She gestured towards the 'July' part on her parchment. Obviously. "Then you add the day of birth, which would be 6." She wrote down what she had just explained. "Now, finally you add each individual number of the birth year together, which would be 2+0+5+9 which is 16, which again would be 1+6. Gotcha! The girl agreed! Now Ced had someone to torture. Hehe. But the girl looked really feisty or well, intimidating. He had to make sure if she bites people for he didn't really want to have a big lesion on his hand or two pointed reddish dots on his neck. And yep, he was just being extra-precautionary.
"You sure umm, d-don't bi--" He trailed off, he just thought that it was going to be super silly if he ask the girl if she bites or not. And that was why he despised partnering with other people 'cause he couldn't be so certain if that person would be good or mean.
And he had to keep his 'cool'. Yeah. And he could do that by showing off how he good he was at Arithmancy, yep.
He wore his half-crooked smile again upon taking a seat beside the girl. "Great! We're now partners then."
But wait, how come the girl didn't know him? Hmm. Well, he wasn't popular so yeah, he shouldn't be expecting that most of the people around would know him.
"Oooh, you don't know me? I'm Ced. Cedric Nicholas Leone so... prepared to work?" He asked her coolly as he gently yet dramatically brushed his tangling hair away from his brows and eyes. And now, they should start working.
As Annie listened to the class continue, people answering questions about what Arithmancy, Core Numbers, Life Path and Expression Numbers, she was taking notes, and taking a quick glance at her textbook as she tried to at least think of her own results for a minute or two.
Just when she thought all was this close to be...a little harder, Annie found herself relieved that they were going to be doing exercises, after choosing a partner of course. Eep. Gladly, Annie barely knew everyone at the classroom. Taking a quick glance around with her notebook and textbook in hand, she waved: "Hey, does anyone need a partner? 'Cause I'm available..." She said, knowing that was a bit odd to do, but it was absolutely needed.

Josephina walked around the room as the students were working heavily on their calculations. Some just started out and others seem to have finished. "If you've finished those two calculations, then please feel free to read the textbook interpretations to your partner and let them decipher if they fit. OR if you really want to, then you decide if they fit based on your observation of them." That was what she'd have done; but then again, she was an observer and not everyone was.
Noting a couple students seemed to not have partners, she decided to randomly partner two up. "Grayson Kelly and Jenessa Taylor? You two seem partnerless." She nodded at the two. "If anyone seems to not be able to find a partner, let me know."As I'm sure there is someone who you're just avoiding...

Rhea had been feverishly taking notes. She felt a bit disappointed that she hadn't been totally right but what did she expect? She was rubbish with Arithmancy. Oh well she wouldn't let it get her down. Not today. After writing down all the notes the professor asked them to partner up. She sighed. This was going to be a problem..maybe she should just do it on her own. However she decided to ask if there were no takers she would fly solo.

Compared to the professor she was still young though. She relaxed a bit, so Nancy was apparently good at Arithmancy. Boy the jam she would have been in if they both had been bad in the subject. Alex wasn't the type to normally admit this but she couldn't tell who had partners and who didn't, so safer option was to tell the Professor so she'd assign the partnerless to each other. She did frown however she hated her middle name so maybe partnerless meant no would know.

I don't expect you to be perfect in your calculations, but I do expect you to try." Josephina explained, laying out the ground rules for calculations. "I understand math isn't all your strongpoints, which is also completely fine. But again, just try. Focus and concentrate, as there is no rush. We'll be starting with the Life Path and Destiny numbers at first."
Flicking her wand at the board, more writing appeared;
Life Path Number
DOB: 2 April 2044
4 + 2 + (2+0+4+4)
4 + 2 + 10
4 + 2 + 1
Life path number = 7
Expression/Destiny Number
Full Name: Josephina Faith Hadley
J O S E P H I N A______F A I T H___H A D L E Y
1+6+1+5+7+8+9+5+1 6+1+9+2+8 8+1+4+3+5+7
(43) + (26) + (28)
7 + 8 + 10
7 + 8 + 1
16/7
Expression/Destiny Number = 7
"Special considerations are to please make sure you add and reduce each component up first before totaling. For instance, I added all the numbers up in my first name, Josephina, to be 43 and then reduced it to 7 before adding that to the reduced digit for my middle and last names," Fina explained, pointed it out to the students. While chances are it shouldn't make a difference, it was best to be consistent and follow that format regardless.
"One more thing before you go ahead and calculate the Destiny and Life Path Numbers. I want you to each partner up with someone you do not know at all or very well. I don't want to see best friends or significant others be partners. And I want you to exchange names and birthdates and calculate each others' numbers." Why? Because it is easy to calculate your number and make it fit for you, but calculating someone else's is a whole different ballpark. "Any questions, please ask me."

OOC Notes:
Find a partner you don't know
Exchange full names and birthdates
Calculate your partners' expression and life path numbers
Read the textbook interpretation and determine accuracy
When done, do NOT chat Unless you want MORE points lost *eyes* I won't hesitate to do it either, but rather sit quietly / don't post and wait for me to post up the next two numbers
Don't go ahead and calculate the other numbers [in here] before I post up instructions.
Have fun with the interpretations!
Questions? Ask me ^__^
Finally, there is a good chance I won't be back to continue with the lesson until Midnight EST tonight, the 13th? 5am GMT on the 14th, so no rush. <3
Iris listened to the volunteers pretend to be the Core Numbers, and it was a good job too, because she'd forgotten the most of them. She listened to the Professor (Whose name Iris couldn't remember. Oops.) explain what they were doing, Hmm. A stranger. Fair enough. That would just make working the Life Path number and Destiny Number more fun, because there was nothing for you to work on.
It would be like pretending to be one of those Muggle fortune tellers that you see in the really old muggle movies and stories. hehe.
Getting up from her seat, she sighed and shrugged at Jimbo, "Sorry, Mate; I can't work with you. I know you too well."
And then walked over to a student who looked pretty partner-less, "Hi, I'm Iris. Do you need a partner?" She asked them cheerfully.
Well, you may as well be cheerful. Arithmancy was like Divination for SMART people. What wasn't there to be cheerful about?
Xylon grinned as the 'Numbers' came up and explained. Creative! He also had an answer for Professor Hadley but he would give it to her later. Didn't want to disturb the class right now. Maybe he could pay her a visit in her office. The seventh year leaned back in his chair and looked around. Of course his obvious choice for a partner was some pretty girl.
....... and of course that girl had to be Gold.
"Fire." He smirked at her. "Want to partner up?" Come to think of it he didn't even know her middle name. Because of course the only thing he knew about her was that she was always super annoyed by him and would punch him if she felt like it. Though she probably wouldn't now. In class.
So he had taken his chance.

The nerve of Xylon Saar!
"I know you a little too well," Gold said, rather pointedly. Of course, she did not really. But the fact that Mr. Muscles was a constant nuisance and an even more constant flirt, was enough to ensure that she did not even think of consenting, to his offer. Not in a million years. Please!
It was at that precise moment, that a Slytherin - by her robes - walked over to her. "That sounds lovely," Gold said, pleasantly.
