Honestly, Cedes didn't see the point in coming to lessons anymore. What else was there to learn? Sure she was a Ravenclaw and sure she wanted to win points and the House Cup and the whole schebang, but did she really have to expose herself? One for the team? Yeah... she knew. Not that she really cared. Sometimes Cedes could be sooooo stubborn. Maybe one of these days she could just come up with some rare disease where she couldn't attend class and just earn all her points through homework. She was smart enough already without attending class. She was a Ravenclaw, after all.
Then the unexpected happened.
A boy came up to her...

IT WAS HIM! The ice cream shop boy! The boy she threw ice cream on! The boy who she flipped out on when she thought she was gonna die because she had been exposed to cooties! Well....... at least HE didn't have cooties. Cedes knew that for a FACT because she was still alive! Sooo... he hasn't been exposed yet! Wait. But when she had met him it was like... a couple of weeks ago. He could've easily gotten exposed within that time range. It only takes a few seconds to get exposed, OHMERLIN'SBEARDITWASABOYWITHCOOTIES.
"H-hi... again," she said sheepishly and nervously as she inched farther back into her seat. "And... sureee...." She must have some death wish. "Do you wanna go first?"

Oh YAY a partner! Except that it was Jen, who she knew, and the professor had said to partner with someone they didn't know... But she'd also said someone they didn't know very well too, hadn't she? And Vashti had only just met Jen, so she didn't know her very well. Yay justification!
"Hi, Jen!" she replied brightly, getting her notebook and quill ready. "My full name's Vashti Rachelle Greenwell - would you like me to write it down? And my birthday is May 2nd, 2059. What's yours?"
"My full name is Jennifer Ann Potter. My birthday is December 21st, 2059." Jen said kindly and began writing.
"June 5th, 2060." Ainra replied. "What's this for, the life one?" She asked him curiously.
"Yes the birthday is your life number where as your name is your destiny number," he explained wondering if she'd been listening. Sometimes it was hard to listen to the drone in class. "Since June is the 6th month of the year, you add 6+5+2+0+6+0," he wrote on the paper as he said it. "That gives you 19. Then 1+9=10. Then 1+0=1. So your life number is 1. Do you have a textbook?" he gazed up from the paper into her eyes, curious to find out what others said that meant.

After reading from the book, Cadence looked up at the boy and considered him for a moment. "Right, so, this is saying that you were born to be a leader... a great leader by the sound of it! It says you're determined and like to be in charge of things. Oo! Maybe you're going to be Minister of Magic!" she said laughing a little. "Does that sound like you?"

Aiden grinned and gave a small nod of agreement. "I know, right? Numbers have never really been my greatest strength. I prefer words as well. Oh, and I think you're right.. about the whole simplifying the twenty-two thing." Upon seeing her reaction to the textbook's analysis of her, he couldn't help but smile a bit. She seemed a little in disagreement, but somewhat satisfied. Right?
"So, you're loyal, reliable.." He looked to her. "Believe me, I'd be happy with that answer. Those are some good traits to have." How true, indeed! Then again, the girl was sorted into Hufflepuff, so loyalty should probably have been a given. "And look.. your destiny one says that you're creative, encouraging, and self-expressive.." His eyes scanned over the text. "Oh, and it says you're good with words, just like you were saying." Okay, that's enough excitement. How come Arithmancy at Hogwarts was so much better than the same subject at Durmstrang?

"Anyways... How do you do this anyways? We can start with you, but your gonna have to help me work through it, i have no idea what professor said." Which what she said was all complete truth but she also wanted the subject off of her name.

"Sure," she said, beckoning for the girl to sit. "Okay, so my birth name is Abigail Patricia Hartzler. And my birthday is the third of March, 2055. How 'bout you?" She whipped out some more parchment, ready to take note of the girl's name and birth date.

Abby frowned. The girl seemed dead set on not revealing her full name. Which would be posing a problem, since she needed to know it in order to do anything really. "Uh, well I suppose," she said hesitantly, "you could just calculate my numbers so you get some practice in." She looked around the room. Was there anyone here willing to do this with her? Like, including the giving their full name part? Meh.

Speaking of house points, Josephina blinked once, twice, three times at the amount of TALKING that was going on. Too loud. Obviously Arithmancy was a very exciting subject, but now was not the time to be all hyped up.
"Quiet!" The young woman hopped off her desk. "As I have a zero-tolerance for chatter, that will be 19 points from Slytherin, 12 points from Ravenclaw, 3 points from Gryffindor, and 1 point from Hufflepuff for excessive chatting after you were explicitly told to keep chatting to a minimum. Perhaps next time you'll think twice before chatting about butterflies or whatever other nonsensical talk you were on about." Shaking her head, she penciled it into her notes quickly before moving onward.
Ellie nearly choked. What! Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah. No one ever said not to talk... Sooo unfair...

"Special considerations are to please make sure you add and reduce each component up first before totaling. For instance, I added all the numbers up in my first name, Josephina, to be 43 and then reduced it to 7 before adding that to the reduced digit for my middle and last names," Fina explained, pointed it out to the students. While chances are it shouldn't make a difference, it was best to be consistent and follow that format regardless.
"One more thing before you go ahead and calculate the Destiny and Life Path Numbers. I want you to each partner up with someone you do not know at all or very well. I don't want to see best friends or significant others be partners. And I want you to exchange names and birthdates and calculate each others' numbers." Why? Because it is easy to calculate your number and make it fit for you, but calculating someone else's is a whole different ballpark. "Any questions, please ask me."
