| | Transfiguration I - Introduction Professor Pilliwickle unlocked and entered the Transfiguration classroom and proceeded to waddle to the desk. Unlike her rather sickly office, the walls in here were a dull grey - she was going to have to get the house elves to do something about that.
Taking a seat, the elderly Professor waited for her cute, ickle students to arrive.

"The older students should be able to conjure butterflies non-verbally," she giggled, unable to wait much longer. "Let's see what you can do!" Reese let out a soft 'aww' when the purple butterflies came out of Miss Picklewickle's wand. Wait, that wasn't her name... Oh, well. She'll just the Professor's name right sooner or later.
She picked her wand back up from her desk and was about to say the incantation until the Professor said something about the older students being able to do it non-verbally. Hahahaha, was she kidding? By the look on her face, she wasn't. Gulp.
After staring at her wand, she decided it was best to try to the spell using her voice, then try it non-verbally. She nodded at her decision, then she gave her wand a little swish as she clearly said, " Papilio." Just as those words came out of her mouth, a few blue butterflies came out of her wand. Ohhh, pretty! She tilted her head at the butterflies and grinned. Hehe. She loved butterflies!
Right, now she had to try it non-verbally. She straightened herself up in the chair as she gave her wand a little swish and mentally said that incantation in her head, but nothing happened. She pouted a little bit. After a minute of staring at the emptiness of the area around her, she closed her eyes and then gave her wand another swish and mentally said the incantation. Once she opened her eyes again, there were blue butterflies around her.
She did it!

Butterflies?
Daphne didn't even like butterflies! And she was a girl! This was a class gone horribly awry. Making a face to her wand as she passed it from hand to hand, Hopton mumbled the incantation.
Papilio. Simple enough. She really didn't like butterflies though. She'd try one, with the aid of the incantation. If that turned out simple enough, she'd try doing it non-verbally.
Sounded like a good plan, right? Rolling her shoulders, Daphne raised her left arm. Butterflies? Wrinkling her nose, Daphne imitated the Professor's wand movement.
Making sure to bring her swish to a close neatly, the blond chanted: "Papilio!" before four or five mallow skippers zoomed out of her wand and into the room.
Just as brown and dull and ugly as she remembered them. Daphne had no time to congratulate herself on a job well done because Neptune was...Neptune was...Miss Neptune Bott was...
".....Raiden the Butterfly....Garret the Butterfly..." she repeated, her golden lashes fluttering in confusion. Daphne didn't know who Kellen was but...
OH. EM. GEE. THE LUULLZZ! "Oh, where's Kururugi when you need him, huh?" LULZ.

| Snake disguised as Raven Browncoat Non-verbals? He had no idea what those were. Or rather, how to do it, because the name kind of spoke for itself.
He pointed his wand forward, "Papilio." A little butterfly fluttered pathetically from the end of his wand, and he frowned. How had the professor done her wand movement again? Butterflies were more flittery and stuff, so he probably had to take a lighter grip on his wand and... "Papilio!"
Half a dozen pale purple and silver butterflies flew from the tip of his wand and swirled into the air, and he grinned.
He watched them for a moment, and then asked, "Professor? Is there any way we can control the colours of the butterflies before we cast?"
No sooner did he ask it than he heard Neptune's joyful pronouncement of a butterfly carrying his name. He forgot his hand was in the air and he was talking to the professor, and stared at her. No, no, she hadn't... |

Lucy closed her eyes tight and held her wand. "Papilio," She whispered and flicked her wand, perhaps a bit too much. She opened her eyes but there was nothing to see. But everyone else is getting pretty butterflies, she thought and then screwed up her eyes again. This time she pictured a pretty red butterfly, (Like the color of her new hair, hehe) and said, "Papilio," again. When she opened her eyes, there was still nothing. "Okay, one last time," She muttered to herself. Picture butterfly: check. Say the spell: "Papilio," check. "Swish the wand: check. Lucy opened her eyes for a third time, this time seeing a bright red butterfly floating infront of her. "YAYYYY!!" She had made butterflies appear! This lesson was going to be fun.

Kay held her wand lightly in her hand. She closed her eyes and thought of beautiful butterflies of all colors. She took a deep breath. "Papilio." and waved her wand. She opened her eyes and can't see and butterflies. Being a little sad about she thought she would try again. Kay closed her eyes again and thought of what she wanted. "PAPILIO!" and waved her wand. When she opened her eyes all she saw was two little butterflies. Kay smiled at it and was happy to get what.

Nikki giggled at the professor. She seemed very excited by all this didn't she? Well, who wouldn't be! They were conjuring up butterflies! Taking in a deep breath, Nikki said, "Papilio." She said. Two tiny butterflies came flying out of the tip of her wand. One purple and the other red. Nikki felt like jumping up and down clapping her hands and yelling "YAY ME!"

| Wireless = fail xD The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas. Upon seeing all the others doing the spell nearly perfectly William sighed and glowered at everyone around him. Murky mood much he thought ot himself as he rolled up a sleeve on his robes so it wouldn't get tangled on the desk and took deep breaths. He didn't know what colors of butterflies he wanted, he couldn't even really concentrate. Oh well may as well try to figured, holding his wand up and swishing it around a few times to get the wand movement correct.
When he figured he had it right - or as right as he could get it, William took one more deep cleansing breath and closed his eyes, picturing pink butterflies flying around him in a dance of peace and serenity. He could really go for some of that he knew, not wanting to be moody anymore. And besides, pink was cool, not that girly pink like the light fluffy stuff but the darker pinks. Yeah pink was good.
"Papilio" he said in a clear voice, his mind still focused on whatever it was he was focusing on. Swishing his wand as he said the incantation he was taken back when black butterflies came out of his wand - at least 4 of them fluttering around him like there was no care in the world. "Aw I wanted pink." he muttered to himself, smiling a chagrined smile.
At least he had performed the spell he figured, looking around again as others got it. He stared in awe as he Head boy Jack did it with nonverbal spells. "Wow" he whispered, clearly not believing it. He so had to learn that he thought as he looked at his moody black butterflies once more.

Natasha picked up her wand, excited. She wanted some pretty butterflies. Closing her eyes, she imagined pretty purple butterflies. She swished her wand in the air like the Professor had shown them, and she murmured the incantation. "Papilio!" Opening her eyes, she was sad to find none there. Awwwwww.
Concentrating really, really hard, she waved her wand again. "Papilio!" She giggled excited. She'd conjured a few! She'd done it! They were so pretty. Blue, Purple and Pink! It was cooler then what she'd imagined.
This was so much fun.

She had to do that sometimes. "And when you're ready," she continued, "simply wave your wand and say the incantation! Papilio!"
"Can you all repeat that for me? Without wands for the moment? Papilio!" Arya listened as the professor spoke and repeatd the incantation along with her. "Papilo! Papilio!"She went on like this until she was sure she would get the spell right. Quote:

Somethinig brushed past Garret's rather large nose just as he was about to release a really loud snore and he sneezed instead, waking up with a start to find the classroom filled with butterflies. Also, he'd heard his name, so he turned to find that Neptune girl chasing around butterflies...
Weirdo.
Cute, but weird.
"Hey, Daff," he mumbled, watching her talk to herself about Raiden (what was he, the resident STUD?!) and frowned, "Wot's the incantation?"

Clean wand movement.
Gold was pretty sure she could do this. The bright-eyed teen smiled a little as some of her classmates began to conjure up pretty butterflies, then swished her wand, like the professor had demonstrated.
"Papilio."
Verbally, for now. Non-verbally, next time. Fingers crossed for some awesome, pink butterflies! |

Daphne stopped watching Neptune long enough to catch Garret's words. Turning to him, Miss Hopton offered her signature nose wrinkle. " Papilio, Crocker. Papilio. If you had stayed awake long enough you would have heard it."
He was lucky, really lucky, the Professor seemed to be easily distracted. Odd character she was. "And the wand movement is like so," she said, rolling her shoulders before raising her left arm in a flourish. "Think...err, well, you know, think butterflies. Even the movement should be like them. Elegant," Barf. "Light and um, airy."

I mean, that's French for butterfly, and the spell conjures butterflies." She never thought her semi-multilingualness would come in useful. But apparently it did.
And then nonverbals were brought up, and she smiled. Okay. This girl was no doubt a Ravenclaw. BINGO. When she noticed the crest upon her robes, Mildred was proved right. Milly didn't have the FOGGIEST idea about the origins incantations or their meanings.. if she was honest they were just a bunch of mumble jumble funny words to her.
She tried to answer the question anyway.
"If that's the french for butterfly.. well.. then I'm sure it has the same origin, dear." Right? Quote:

Not opening her eyes just yet, Allison kept saying slowly, "Papilio. Papilio...Papilllllio. Pah-pee-leo."
Smiling to herself with her eyes still closed Allison said out loud and clear, "Papilio." Opening one eye she realized she hadn't used her wand and rolled her eyes. Trying with her wand this time, she closed her eyes once more and repeated, "Papilio."
Peaking through the slit of her eyes a small breeze came out of her wand. Remembering her mother, and the butterfly that accompanied her, Allison made a swish with her wand and said with much emotion outloud, "Papilio!"
She felt something around her. Something flutter and touch her slightly. Opening her eyes she saw three flies and two beautiful butterflies. Grinning and swatting the flies to be gone Allison observed her conjuration. They were mid-night blue and didn't have the glow her mother's did. Then again her mother was older and had more experience. But being able to conjure such a thing after several times wasn't actually a disappointment for Allison. It was a more like a wonderful miracle. Then again her wand dictated talent in transfiguration...so maybe she shouldn't be so proud it took her so long. "You're a natural!" Mildred giggled when she spotted a few butterflies erupt from the young girl's wand. "And they're beautiful," she sighed in admiration.. watching as the insects fluttered happily around her head.
"The classroom is looking prettier already, everyone!" Quote:

Papilio, he thought to himself. He waved his wand, mimicking the professor's wand movements as he closed his eyes and tried to visualize the butterflies flying out of his wand. When he opened his eyes, he smiled when he saw that he had indeed conjured a few of them--three to be exact. Only they were...GREEN?
THAT wasn't right. He blinked and raised his hand. "Professor? Does it matter what color they are?" he asked, watching his green butterflies fluttering around his head. THEY WERE GOING FOR THE HAIR! He'd done a non verbal! What a smart boy! Mildred hurried over to him, bounce still in her step! "SO PRETTY!!!!" She shrieked, tucking her wand underneath her arm in order to CLAP CLAP CLAAAP her pudgy hands together.
"The colour doesn't really matter," she answered with a giggle, moving to ruffle the boy's hair. What a sweetie pie. "But the brighter the better in my opinion!" Quote:

At least she'd not yet called him Spawn of the Devil; that was always a plus.

Ian repeated the word several times under his breath until he felt sure that it was deeply carved on his brain.

Wrong.
It took the boy fifteen tries and fifteen mental bad words that went with each time he failed, to actually get it right. And, even then, his butterflies weren't nearly as ... easy on the eye as his classmates' were.

Alright, kid. You got this.
Josiah looked around warily. He didn't want to mess up - as he was sure he was about to - while a bunch of people were watching.
He raised his wand slightly and opened his mouth to say the incantation... Which was what again? Something with a P... Papo... Papi... Err... Pop... Great-Grand-Pappy Mortimer?! What was it!?!?
He listened in sneakily to what his classmates were saying. "Papilio." Good to know. He jotted that down quickly on the piece of parchment he'd been using to doodle take notes. He'd probably want to remember it.
He closed his eyes and concentrated - and felt ridiculous whilst concentrating - on two blue butterflies. "Papilio," he said quietly. When he opened his eyes, two blue butterflies were appearing from his wand. "Blimey!" he exclaimed. He'd actually done it! He'd done it right!
Score one, Josiah.
He was sooooo writing to Mum about this.

This time, what she pictured were golden, little things with translucent wings and shimmers. Because it was amazing, what a mental image could do! She had concentrated and --
YES!
The two butterflies that flew off from the tip of her wand were exactly as she had wanted them to be. Gold was kind of stunned at her success, but it made her feel quite pleased with her progress.
Non-verbal spell time, now. |

| Fortress of Brilliance ღ Mommy Quad Katie liked this Professor, even if she was old and didn't remind her of her grandmother, she was AWESOME! The young Hufflepuff could definitely get use to her being around for a looong time (she hoped), and was even considering paying her a visit later after class or something - which she rarely did.
What was the cause of this fondness? She seemed very nice, and she had them conjuring BUTTERFLIES! Katie loved butterflies. They were beautiful, graceful, peaceful. Hardly able to sit still in her seat, the small girl had notes written and her wand at the ready for conjuring butterflies when Professor Pilliwickle gave them the OK. Concentration. Picture it. Wave wand. Papilio. She thought, repeating the steps carefully in her head as she eagerly waited and watched, wanting to see others follow the Professors example first and see how they did before deciding to preform the spell herself. Alright, Kaitlynnh thought, adjusting her wand hand to a comfortable position. She closed her eyes as the Professor suggested, though not because she was easily distracted as much as it was because she wanted to be surprised if and when she succeeded. "Papilio!" Nothing. Maaaaaaybe she should have remembered to use her wand, that.. might have helped. Thankful she wasn't one to blush very often, Katie brushed off her own mistake with unconcerned ease and cleared her throat to take her second attempt. Waving her wand carefully, Katie spoke with a slight confidence - willing the spell to work this time, "Papilio!" Peeking one eyeball open, Katie gave into a small smile, seeing a single white butterfly flutter around her. That was nice but she wanted more. One was too little, too lonely amongst the other colors. Surely Professor Pilliwickle would understand that. "Maybe just one or two more tries," Katie murmured, waving her wand once more, she tried to tune out the voices around her and flying colors brightening up the room as she focused on concentrating on the image in her mind. "Papilio!!" One.. two.. three! Four in total. "I did it." Katie beamed proudly at the four white butterflies.
Turning her attention back to the Professor, Katie raised her hand. "Professor Pilliwickle, what will happen to these butterflies after class?"

Satine couldn't be more excited....
BUTTERFLIES!!!!!
She could hardly wait to create butterflies this had always been something she had wanted to know how to do, but no one ever knew how. She was so excited that she was almost shaking with anticipation.
In her head a million different types of butterflies flew around in her head. She closed her eyes and focused on one in particular....it was one that had her favorite color in it....and no not purple like you think it would be...this color was the greatest of all colors...her face begin to show her excitement and a huge, even more huge, than normal smile spread across her face as she opened her eyes and focused.
She flicked her wand and said with the most pride she had ever used on a spell before, "Papilio" she made sure to make every syllable absolutely perfect. She had never wanted a spell to work so bad in all of her life. Instantly, a beautiful butterfly appeared....and then another...and another...
They were all beautiful...they were iridescent! yes iridescent was Satine's favorite color and she had always longed to see an iridescent butterfly...and now she had three circling around her hair...
One landed on the edge of her wand and another on the end of her nose and then the best of all the last one landed in her dark purple hair. Satine knew she was fixing to feel really stupid, but her eyes began to water.
She raised her hand, "Professor, this...this...this is just amazing...this is a dream come true...." she said with her eyes still slightly watered...no tears...yet...

Closing her eyes she started to imagine the prettiest PINK butterflies she could imagine. SQUEE! Pink butterflies... Okay... focus Alexa. Pink butterflies, pink butterflies. Raising her wand she said in a clear voice, "Papilio" Peeking through her lids she was a bit crestfallen when she saw that there were no pink butterflies floating around her. *pout*
Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes and imagined them again, determined that she would get the spell right this time. "Papilio" Nothing... *pout some more* Lorcan sat back and watched Lexi try and cast the spell to create the butterflies and sniggered when she started to pout. Quote:

*Squee*
Trying once more she closed her eyes, pictured the butterflies and called out, "Papilio" Opening her eyes she was now thrilled to see that there were about five of the little beauties flying around her head. One of them actually lighted on her head and she giggled a tinkling little giggle and set about trying to conjure up some more. When she conjured five little pink butterflies he muttered, "Pink, what a shocker."
He picked up his own wand and concentrated. "Papilio" Nothing. He tried once more, since that was all the effort he was willing to give the stupid spell and a blue butterfly appeared. Looking at it he grinned. "There might only be one, but at least it's a real one."

Ian positively jumped on his own seat at the sound of the old lady's voice close to him and speaking directly to him.
Sweetie. Honey. Dear.
All those endearment terms. It was all how it started. Always. Old ladies just didn't seem to like him, and always, always, made his life impossible.
Like now. Making him practice - why on earth would he need to KNOW how to conjure butterflies? Pesky little things with no actual use other than scaring the chimaeras out of his fifteen year old self.
As it was, however, the fifth year was not about to say NO to this woman (Merlin only KNEW what she would do if he did so much as disagreeing with her), the boy nodded his head at her and set to work again.
"Papilio!" Ian had always given up on the non-verbal ones. Maybe THAT'S why the insects with wings were coming out so ugly. "Papilio!" Ugghhh. This was SUCH a girls' thing to do, not a GUY. "Papiiiiiiiiilio!" He waved his wand again (and almost pocked his eye out in the process), and watched as two butterflies finally appeared.
Well, they were still not nearly as pretty as some, but what with the dark blue, golden and light traces of salmon, Ian supposed they were an improvement from his previous muddy brown and black ones.
It was in that moment that Ian decided that whatever it was that he would do when he grew up, it would not involve internal designing or anything of the like.

"Right, spare me the lecture." And his blue eyes had barely registered her demonstration before he pulled his wand out and swished it elegantly, "Palli...pioh?"
What was released from his wand was unlike any butterfly he had ever seen in his young life. In fact, he thought as he cocked his head to take it in, it looked like a turtle and a rat had made a green and blue baby. His wand clattered to the floor in his excitement. The thing was AWESOME!!!
"COOOOOL!!!" And following Tuney's suit, he picked the creature up and held it Rafiki style as he exclaimed, "I'll call you DAPHNE!!!"
Hahahahahaaahaha

Hogwarts RPG Name: Kate Aldaine Fifth Year | Did someone just name their butterfly after Kellen? Oh my... Kate chuckled to herself, and looked over at Kellen to see his reaction. Enough of that Kate. Conjuring time! Taking all the pointers the professor had given into consideration, Kate closed her eyes and concentrated. "Papilio," she whispered. When she opened her eyes, she saw five beautiful, scarlet and black butterflies flutter out of the tip of her wand. Perfect! Kate thought to herself, grinning. That colour really is the perfect shade of red. |

Concentrate. That's what she needed to do. Natasha really wanted to make the butterflies the exact way she pictured them, and also non-verbal. It'd be tricky, but she could try, right? Concentrate.
Concentrate. She held her eyes closed, picturing four beautiful pink birds in her mind. Papilio! She thought, thinking it as hard as she could, swishing her wand. Tasha opened her eyes, frowned when there were no butterflies, and closed them again.
CONCENTRATE. She had a vivid mental picture of them, she just needed to THINK. Hard. Papilio! Papilio, Papilio! She repeated in her head, thinking of the butterflies. She slowly opened her eyes and was completely surprised.
YES! They were there, the four, beautiful shimmering in the light, butterflies. She'd done it non-verbally. She grinned to herself, feeling quite proud. She LOVED Transfiguration.

Daphne's own butterflies should have shown that.
And now Katie was all like, YAYAYAYAYYA I did itttt.
Legend wanted to kick her. Or at least tell her to put a sock in it. But no he would save that for later. Twirling his wand around he got ready to make more stupid butterflies. Great. "PAPILIO!!!" The third year yelled at the desk. Out of his wand came the fattest purple butterfly ever. It looked like it had eaten three butterflies before. The poor...thing only had time to flap it's wings twice before it landed on the desk twitching.
Legend took his wand and poked it. Ew. This is why he did not like Butterflies.
