Butterflies? They were going to be conjuring butterflies? Destiny was now certain that this woman was nothing like her grandmother, which is a good thing!

'Papilio.. Papilio.' Yep, that was easy.

Annnd Evelyn was looking at her..'I still have no idea.' Maybe Evelyn could help her out some.

Butterflies? That was really cool. Natasha wrote it down so she'd remember, before looking back up at the Professor. "Papilio," she said, grinning. She wanted to try it. She wanted to make pretty butterflies.

"Papilio" Alexa said aloud as she closed her eyes and imagined butterflies fluttering about. "Papilio" she said again as she opened her eyes and beamed at Lorcan.

Kay listened to the Professor. Butterflies were nice. Kay repeated after thr Professor. "Papilio." She really wanted to do this one it sounded like fun and Kay liked Butterflies.

Ohhh....butterflies! Nikki loved butterflies, they were just so pretty! Nikki liked this professor. "Papilio." She said with the rest of the class. Papilio, papilio, papilio...

Becca grinned at the praise and listened to the Professor's speil. Butterflies, okay. She'd just seen some before in the courtyard. Concentrating on the look of the one's she'd seem previously, Becca said with her arm waving, Papilio! and then Poof! There were butterflies!

Butterflies. Butterflies? How was that useful or practical? Lorcan muttered, "Papilo" with no real enthusiasm. He was sure that the girls were going to love this, but until they started doing proper spell, Lorcan was considering going on strike. One look at Lexi told him that he was right. She was really happy with the butterflies.

My my, she was a preppy professor, wasn't she? Hehe. Jack had always liked this class, and he grinned thinking about how, if this class was any indication, he would SOOOO look forward to this class this term!

"Papilio," he muttered to himself. That was easy enough. He hoped none of the butterflies tried to attack his hair or anything--they had been known to do that around him.

Marie made sure her wand was laying on her desk then said "papilio" in a soft voice.

"Just like the genus! Yes!" Mildred wriggled with even more excitement! What a smart young lady this one was! They were all going to conjure butterflies and fill the room full of prettiiiiiiies! She was going to COMBUST with excitement soon surely!


She very nearly DID when one girl said her mother conjured a butterfly for her! How absolutely and incredibly ADORABLE!

Mildred tried to listen out and make sure the kiddies were pronouncing the incantation correctly.. but really, with hearing like hers it was just useless. Ah well. She'd see how well they could do nooooow!

Demonstration time? Demonstration time!

"You have to make sure you say the incantation clearly. And keep your wand movements clean," she explained carefully. Confident in her explanation AND the students abilities, Mildred gave her wand a neat swish and WOOOOO! a small amount of PURPLE butterflies fluttered from her wand and brightened up the room a little.

"The older students should be able to conjure butterflies non-verbally," she giggled, unable to wait much longer. "Let's see what you can do!"

Adrienne blinked as the conjuring discussion segued into butterflies. Not really something she'd expected, but she had to agree with the professor that the classroom was pretty bland. But, butterflies? Listening as the spell was explained, she started to smile. "Papilio," she repeated along with most of the other class, before she raised her hand. "Professor, does this spell come from the same origin as the word papillon? I mean, that's French for butterfly, and the spell conjures butterflies." She never thought her semi-multilingualness would come in useful. But apparently it did.

And then nonverbals were brought up, and she smiled. Okay.

William allowed a small, minuscule smile to flit across his face as he repeated the word "Papilio". It seemed like a normal word, he would never have expected butterflies to have anything to do with that one.

Alexa was excited about this spell... what girl didn't love pretty butterflies fluttering all about?

Closing her eyes she started to imagine the prettiest PINK butterflies she could imagine. SQUEE! Pink butterflies... Okay... focus Alexa. Pink butterflies, pink butterflies. Raising her wand she said in a clear voice, "Papilio" Peeking through her lids she was a bit crestfallen when she saw that there were no pink butterflies floating around her. *pout*

Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes and imagined them again, determined that she would get the spell right this time. "Papilio" Nothing... *pout some more*

Closing her eyes she remembered the butterfly waiting for her by her nightstand. It was small and it glowed, it was white and reminded her of the night stars, it was alluring and gave Allison a feeling of warmth and mystery at the same time.

Wishing she could conjure one just as beautiful Allison whispered, "Papilio."

Not opening her eyes just yet, Allison kept saying slowly, "Papilio. Papilio...Papilllllio. Pah-pee-leo."

Smiling to herself with her eyes still closed Allison said out loud and clear, "Papilio." Opening one eye she realized she hadn't used her wand and rolled her eyes. Trying with her wand this time, she closed her eyes once more and repeated, "Papilio."

Peaking through the slit of her eyes a small breeze came out of her wand. Remembering her mother, and the butterfly that accompanied her, Allison made a swish with her wand and said with much emotion outloud, "Papilio!"

She felt something around her. Something flutter and touch her slightly. Opening her eyes she saw three flies and two beautiful butterflies. Grinning and swatting the flies to be gone Allison observed her conjuration. They were mid-night blue and didn't have the glow her mother's did. Then again her mother was older and had more experience. But being able to conjure such a thing after several times wasn't actually a disappointment for Allison. It was a more like a wonderful miracle. Then again her wand dictated talent in transfiguration...so maybe she shouldn't be so proud it took her so long.

Georgiana concentrated hard on floating blue and pink butterflies, she wanted them! They were so so pretty! Papilio! Huh? Oh, nothing! Alright try again.

She concentrated again, she could almost hear the soft swish of the butterflies wings. She smiled to herself, Papilio! she said in a loud even tone. She giggled as she opened her eyes, and there were two small little butterflies in front of her. Blue wings with pink spots, just as she saw them. Though of course...she had imagined more...

After repeating "Papilio!" a few times, well...more like ten inside her mind, Annie's amazement was quite taken by the professor, who had conjured a bunch of pretty butterflies, PURPLE butterflies. After such great demonstration and explanation about the wand swish, the professor instructed them to practice the enchantation.

Swish...and "Papilio" Annie's words were clear, but no butterflies came out. Awweess...Flail. Just in mind, though.

"Papilio!" She tried for the second time, not giving up and with the correct swish and flick. About ten pretty blue-purplissh butterflies wandered out. Annie was proud, her imagination was not so dead after all. Finally an enchantation that didn't require her father's wand, but hers.

Clean and simple wand movement aaand...purple butterflies. Surely not all the butterflies they conjure would be purple right? Hopefully not and now they could try! Woo! Not...

Hearing Destiny say she didn't know what she was thinking, Evelyn rolled her eyes jokingly and continued to listen to the Professor. Only, she didn't have to, because they were supposed to be trying the spell themselves. If Destiny didn't know that she was thinking of messing with the professor, then she wasn't going to say anything. She still didn't know how good this lady's hearing was yet. People could really surprise you...

"Papilio." she said, doing the exact same wand movement that the professor di- MERLIN NO! Were those...PINK and YELLOW butterflies? *shiver* That was definitely wrong. Swatting at them so they would fly away, she tried again, thinking specifically of green or silver butterflies. Green or silver, green or silver...green...silver...

"Papilio." Evelyn tried again, watching green AND silver butterflies being conjured from the wand. And, one or two that were still pink and yellow. It was better at least...

Non-verbal? Hmmm, he could give that a go. He pulled out his wand, preparing himself for the army of butterflies that would be storming the room soon. Plus the professor looked like she was going to faint if someone didn't start conjuring insects like NOOOOOW.

He cleared his throat, but then remembered he was going to attempt this non-verbally, and he shook his head instead to clear out his thoughts. Right, all he needed to do was concentrate...he pictured pretty orange butterflies, the kind that Jinx liked to chase out in the garden...

Papilio, he thought to himself. He waved his wand, mimicking the professor's wand movements as he closed his eyes and tried to visualize the butterflies flying out of his wand. When he opened his eyes, he smiled when he saw that he had indeed conjured a few of them--three to be exact. Only they were...GREEN?

THAT wasn't right. He blinked and raised his hand. "Professor? Does it matter what color they are?" he asked, watching his green butterflies fluttering around his head. THEY WERE GOING FOR THE HAIR!

Professor Pickle (because that's what he heard) reminded Ian of Mrs. Mason, his old neighbor, and someone who reminded the boy of that old lady was someone that should never be trusted. All that ... perkiness. Not natural. He was convinced that behind every perky old lady was hidden something dangerous.

At least she'd not yet called him Spawn of the Devil; that was always a plus.

Feeling slightly on edge, Ian retrieved his wand from inside his school bag and listened to the incantation his classmates were repeating like parrots. Well, that sounded easy enough, did it not? Ian repeated the word several times under his breath until he felt sure that it was deeply carved on his brain.

It should be easy now, right?

Wrong.

It took the boy fifteen tries and fifteen mental bad words that went with each time he failed, to actually get it right. And, even then, his butterflies weren't nearly as ... easy on the eye as his classmates' were.

Oh, well. He didn't even like butterflies anyway.

Neptune Bott was so sure that she'd never, in her time at Hogwarts or abraod, learned a more useful and important spell. BUTTERFLIES! She LOVED butterflies!! After listening with rapt attention and practicing along with the other students, Neptune KNEW her TIME had COME.


Ahem.


"Papilio!!!!"


OHMYMERLIN'SGREATGRANNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"BUTTERFLIES!" Neptune ... squealed! ALL PURPLE! "And YOU are named RAIDEN!" she told the first, "AND YOU are named Garrett..." And she had to chase the third around her desk to tell it, "and YOU are KELLEN." ALL her butterflies were BEAUTIFUL and NAMED and she was CLEARLY getting an O in this class too.

Why in the world were they conjuring butterflies? Butterflies were ugly. Legend rolled his eyes and waved his wand. Transfiguration was his favorite class sooo he would deal with it. "Papilio!" He said clearly, two green and yellow butterflies erupted from his wand. "Hm...those one's aren't that ugly." He said looking at the professors and then back at his. He was talking about her's though. His were hideous.

Grabbing her wand from her desk and closing her eyes, Marie pictures pretty green butterflies in her head. Raising her wand and giving it a little shake, like she was trying to shake something from the end of it, she clearly says "Papilio." Opening her eyes she is excited when she sees one green butterfly.

Raising her hand she says "Professor, is it normal for only one butterfly to appear? I was picturing several in my head when I said the incantation."

Perhaps the third time was the charm... Closing her eyes tightly Alexa concentrated super duper hard on the pink butterflies and raised her wand and spoke, "Papilio" when she opened her eyes she was thrilled to see one lone little gossamer beauty fluttering about.

*Squee*

Trying once more she closed her eyes, pictured the butterflies and called out, "Papilio" Opening her eyes she was now thrilled to see that there were about five of the little beauties flying around her head. One of them actually lighted on her head and she giggled a tinkling little giggle and set about trying to conjure up some more.

Adrienne settled herself in her seat a little as it seemed the professor wanted them to actually try and use the spell. She was fairly confident, or at least way more confident in this than she was in DADA earlier. But she convinced herself that was just because of the subject matter of the class.

Closing her eyes, she tried to think of the prettiest butterflies she could come up with, and couldn't quite settle on one color. Mentally shrugging, she continued picturing her imaginary butterflies, then reopened her eyes. imitating the swishing motion the professor had done, she thought Papilio!, and then smiled as several blue and bronze butterflies trailed out of her wand, along with some blue, green and purple ones that looked almost like they were painted with watercolors. Pretty, she thought then, watching them flutter a little.

Emily focussed very hard on butterfly's. "Papilo!" Nothing.

Maybe she was focusing a little too hard. She relaxed, while still concentration on butterfly's and tried again. "Papilo!" Nothing.

"Papilo!" Emily tried once more. This time a small green butterfly with broen speckles appeared right in front of her. "Cool," Emily breathed. She thought that if she had done the spell better the butterfly probably would have been better. But this wasn't bad for her first try.
