Professor Pilliwickle unlocked and entered the Transfiguration classroom and proceeded to waddle to the desk. Unlike her rather sickly office, the walls in here were a dull grey - she was going to have to get the house elves to do something about that.
Taking a seat, the elderly Professor waited for her cute, ickle students to arrive.

They were going to let the enormous, scary, hairy butterfly fly around freely in the classroom?! Eek! Nancy automatically tightened her grip on her wand as she continued to stare at the hairy Butterfly!Monster. Don't you dare attack me. I have a wand and I'm ready to use it! Mwaha! Well, she would probably shriek and dive under her desk but whatever. The hairy Butterfly!Monster didn't know that, did it?
Raising her hand quickly Nancy replied without her eyes leaving the hairy Butterfly!Monster, "Nectar from the flowers, Professor, I think. And pollen too sometimes." Why did that question give her the impression that the professor wanted to KEEP the hairy Butterfly!Monster?!

With a LOUD SLURP, Netune provided a demonstration - you know, for the slow children.

At the question, Jake tilted his head.
This woman liked butterflies.
Purple ones apparently. "Buhh-butterffffly ffffood?"

Oliver had his eyes back on the butterfly which was staying put on the desk but was insisting on flapping it's raven sized wing span about. Urrrh. He shuddered.
He felt nauseous as he looked over at the older Slytherin girl who looked almost as horrified by the monster butterfly as he felt. He swallowed and nodded. That would probably work. He was about to try it out when the professor spoke up. An award? But. But – the beast was still looking at him and she wanted him to leave it!? “Um.. t-thank you, Professor?” He said in a confused, questioning tone. The coupon floated onto the desk and landed right next to the butterfly... so Oliver decided to just leave it there for now. Whatever it was, and backed away a little more from the butterfly.
He sighed and slumped into his seat only for the butterfly to decide to take off at that minute. It flapped it's way to the window and began to thrash about against the glass in a blind panic as if trying to get out. Oh god. Oliver's skin covered in goosebumps and he was sure he was going to be sick. This was worse than that Dark Arts class.
He took that as his cue to go and work at the other side of the classroom. He grabbed his bag and quickly moved away from the massive panicked flailing butterfly.
“T-they don't eat, professor. They drink with that preposterous...” Eh? Nope.. that wasn't right.. He frowned. “I mean that proboscis thing on their face. They gather nutrients from fruit and flowers.” He eyed his butterfly at the other side of the room. He was sure that monster must eat meat. ..or people. Eeep.
Not sure he wanted to try again... yet. Oliver sat and looked around the class to see how everyone was doing. He spotted Miranda who was busy conjuring normal sized red and black butterflies. Eh. He so much for simple magic. Perhaps it was because he used an Italian accent. Papilio. PAPILIO – how could you say that WITHOUT an Italian accent?

Livvy held up her hand to answer the question. "Technically... butterflies don't eat. They drink. They have a proboscis, which is a long tube in their mouth, that acts like a straw. But I believe they fly around and perch upon flowers, fruits, piles of manure... and so on, so as to gather nutrients," she said, nodding her head. YAY. Butterflies.

OH.MY.GOD.
Nancy gaped completely stunned at the hairy Butterfly!Monster as it finally decided to take off - somehow she could even feel the wind in her hair when it did that - only to...crash against the window. Eek! "I...erm...Professor!" Nancy exclaimed, too dumbstruck to do anything herself but simply gesturing at the enormous hairy Butterfly!Monster. It was going to smash the window. Or eat them all.
Out of the corner of her eyes - her main focus was still on the hairy Butterfly!Monster in case it decided it preferred people over nectar after all - Nancy noticed the Slytherin boy moving away to another desk. Good thinking. Maybe it wouldn't find its creator immediately then again.

Once again, it seemed as though the girls were being FAR more enthusiastic at the prospect of feeding their butterflies. SILLY boys! But no matter! They had hungry butterflies to feeeed! Quote:

You must CONCENTRATE. Picture your flowers in your mind!" They could do it!! "The incantation and wand movement however, are different."

"Like so. Orchideous!" Swooping her wand in a circle before her, a large bouquet of PUUURPLE flowers appeared on the desk of the nearest student.. a few butterflies landing on it. Her flowers certainly weren't orcHIDEOUS! They were PRETTY! "Keep your words clear! Or-KID-ee-us! Now, give it a try!"
This was going to BRIGHTEN up the room even more!!!

Bella closed her eyes a second before opening them. Sighing she said the spell for the butterfly's. She knew nothing really was going to happen, she couldnt do that. But to her surprise loads of butterfly's came from her end of her wand, she jumped.
"Professor ive dont it!! Butterfly's" She called to the professor, "Should i feed them now?" She asked

Nymphy wasn't very good at Transfiguration, but atleast he knew the spell and had studied its effects before. "Well..... here goes nothing! Orchideous!!" he yelled. it worked, but the flowers were a few shades lighter then a normal flower. It looked as though they ahd been lightly colored with dull shades of pastels. "Uh, professor. Arter my flowers supposed to be so,...dull?" he asked.

Well... in Jake's opinion, butterflies, being things with a free will (more or less) were harder than flowers to conjure up, so... why not try the flowers now.
Even though that would be a hard word to say.
"Or... kuhh-kid... ee... us..."

"Oh-or-kkkid-ee-us..."
Still no.
"Or-KIDDD-ee-us..."
N-yes!
Jake flailed his arms around and positively BEEEEEEEAMED! His FIRST piece of magic in FOREVER! It was only one small wilting daisy, but SO WHAT?! He'd DONE it!
"I DID IT!" he squealed excitedly, bouncing up and down with a grin on his face. "I duhh-did mmmmagic!"
That made him sooooo happy.

Lucille pictured a lovely bunch of emerald green flowers clearly in her head, and -
"ORCHIDEOUS!!"
Lucille opened her eyes, expecting to see the emerald flowers, but instead - Well THAT wasn't right. Not at all.
Still, it was food, right. AND a flower. Kinda.
"Erm," called Lucille, raising her hand for the professor with a crease crinkling her brow. "Do cabbages count, professor?"

Of course flowers were next. It certainly didn't surprise Adrienne, coming from the professor. She was starting to wonder if Valentine's hearts were going to be next, at this rate. But the professor wanted flowers, so she was going to get flowers.
Thinking about what kinds of flowers she thought butterflies would like, as well as what she might like, she made note of the wand movements necessary before casting. Orchideous!, she thought then, deciding to go nonverbal to extend her concentration. And, as a bouquet of roses and lily of the valley appeared from her wand, and some of her butterflies flew over to it, a smile crept onto her face. Maybe this class wasn't as weird as she thought.
