Carter was starting to have a hard time breathing. He took a deep breath. Not a good idea. He coughed a few more times. He started pulling off the huge ones on tails. They were getting huge. He didn't care nearly as much about the slugs exploding. This was his last broom and he was just ready to go. He looked down at his wrist sadly. His friends were still at Quidditch try-outs.

Anyway, back on topic. He continued slowly working pulling up the slugs.

Vindictus watched Carter carefully and there was one slug that kept on getting bigger and bigger. And it was his last one.

"Erm, Carter? That slug is about to explode," he warned as the slug's swollen body started to shake. Uh, oh!

Carter quickly covered his face as the last one exploded. Luckily he did so just in time. And it saved him from having to pop it himself. He shook his robe sleeve out in an attempt to get rid of some of the pus. The house elves doing laundry would not like this one bit.

The last broom was finally de-slugged and Vindictus took it out of Carter's hands. "Now let's talk about your little flying incident," he said and used his wand to clear away the pails of slugs. "Flying outside of the specified flying areas is dangerous. There are many magical creatures and, ahem, trees that could harm you. Also, those on the grounds could be harmed if you were to fall. This is why flying isn't allowed outside of the Quidditch area and I hope you can remember this in the future."

Vindictus waited for a few minutes so that his words could sink in and handed Carter a small cream-colored box. "Now here's a bar of lemon-scented soap. Make sure you take a long shower and use this to get rid of that awful smell because I'm sure that no one wants to smell you during tryouts which you haven't missed. You're excused."

Carter took the soap. "Yeah. Thanks." he said. His legs were starting to feel a little wobbly. Was it against the rules to take a nap in the dungeon corridor? Or maybe a better question... was it against the rules to take a nap in the dungeon corridor after you've had a detention and smelled awful? Well, this was something he was going to find out. And with that he left wondering how far his legs would carry him.
