"I would love to. And you promise to write?" he said squeezing her hand. He still loved how his hand fit into hers perfectly. He really just wanted to be with her. He didn't want to leave and come back and she be with another boy. He wanted her to be his. But he could never say that, of course, because he had been the one the break up with her. "I will always regret leaving you." he mumbled to himself.

Cadence giggled a little and smiled at him. He was being weird. "Yes, I promise to write," she said with a sincere look in her eyes. When he squeezed her hand, a tingling spread up her arm and butterflies fluttered in her stomach. She had forgotten what his hand felt like in hers. And then he started mumbling. She reached up and placed her hand on the side of his face, looking into his eyes seriously. "Come on, Nate. None of that, okay? I'm not mad at you, and this isn't your fault, okay? Please don't regret it. I don't ever want you to be sad about what we had, love," she said quietly, her eyes glued to his.

"I'm sorry, just after seeing you on the floor, it just made me think of my life without you. I just wanted to be together again, even though I know I it wouldn't work out in the long run." he said looking down at the bench, feeling like a wuss. He wanted to be tough again but seeing her and realizing he wasn't going to see her for a whole year upset him. Nate gently pulled her hand from his face and just held it in his. "I'm really am going to miss you. I still love you, you know."

Omg, He almost forgot about the present he made for her in the Ancient Runes Final. He thought and thought about what to say, to give it to ther.

"Thats great that you finished, it just let me know when you need a chocolate fix" he said while chuckling.

"Theres houses in the wizarding school, In canada but I've never been there, I've started here. My parents and I went looking around for other wizarding school to enroll me in. and we all picked Hogwarts. So much more history here then back at home." he said ... "Maybe I'll owl my mum and dad and ask them about the schools" that sounded like a good idea.

Then Miranda said something about not being a good cook
"Miranda I could always give you lessons if you want.. its always fun." then in a whisper he added. "I'll do most of the work, and you can take credit for it ahah"

Then he looked around to see if any one was watching. "I hope she doesn't think this is cheesey" he thought.

"Well, Miranda you know in the Ancient Runes Final, well erm...... I made you something" he said while getting a little red in the face.

Hehe. He'd better want to be Captain next term. She was planning on kicking his butt then.

HEHE. Yeah, she finished it allright. Maybe a bit too fast. She giggled and nodded. "Thanks." So he was like her chocolate dealer? Snort. He was going to teach her how to cook? "Haha, thanks, but I think I might just sit and watch you for now... My cooking involves making the food un-eatable." She smirked. Oh but then... "Well, that I can do!" Ofcourse she couldn't take credit, but she laughed at his silly idea anyways.

Hm, why was he suddenly looking so shifty?
Ancient Runes final? Oh dear... "You made me something? Again?" Aw. "Oh, you really didn't have to, Brant." She smiled kindly at him and raised her eyebrows a little. What could it BE!?

Maybe something else to hang around her neck. Aw.

As Nate held her hand, Cadence played with his fingers absentmindedly as she listened to him talk. "I think... it's better this way, Nate. Us not being together while you're away. Because at least this way it... it ended on good terms and there's still that chance of getting back together in the future. If we were apart and something happened and we broke up, it would be a lot harder. I think I'd be a lot more hurt, and I don't think we'd have that chance of something in the future," she said honestly. It was true, that was how she felt. That it was better to do this now rather than finding out through a letter that there was some girl near his house that he started to like and so he was going to break up with Cadence. She couldn't have forgiven him for that.

"I know you're..." she began, but before she could finish, he said the L-word and her heart practically stopped as her breath caught in her chest. She wasn't going to cry. Nate needed her to be strong, and he needed to see that she was okay. She was okay... until he went and said he loved her. "I-I know you do. And I still love you. And I always will. Even if we never get back together or even if we get back together and break up again, a part of me will always love you. You're always going to have a piece of my heart, Nate. Always."

"Miranda, I think you would be a very helpful assistant in the kitchen" he said to her while messing up her hair a bit.

"Erm, well we had to chose a Rune to do our Finals on....." he said again looking down at his hand.. 'This would be the prefect time for her to hold my hand" He thought. He didn't wait for Miranda to put her hand in his.. He just took her hand, gently of course and looked at her very seriously.

"I made you something that you can make sure that I'm ok, over the summer holiday.." he started to get his bag, while still holding her hand.

Brant pulled the smaller bag out and started to unwrap it infront of her eyes. Slowly a big crystal heart came into view. But this was no ordinary heart. It was full of Flames, that never made the crystal hot. It also changed color but right now it was a briliant color of red. Then Brant started to explain what it does.

"Miranda, this is my heart. The flame changes color with my mood, it doesn't matter how far away I am It will change if im angry, or sad. It will never break, or the flame will never extinguish."

Brant also pointed out that he scribed his name on the front of it, all by himself.

"You don't have to take it to make me feel better, Miranda. Just know that I care for you." he said now placing the crystal color changing Heart in her hands.

Nate's heart practically skipped a beat when she said she still loved him. He was speechless after that. He leaned forward unsure weather she would like him kiss her. But he kept leaning until his lips met hers and his eyes close. After what seemed all too short he knew it was time to pull away if he didn't want to get in trouble. His heart was racing almost as fast as his mind, not sure if it was the right thing to do. It felt so right but was so wrong. They had broken up, right?

Cadence just watched, frozen to the spot as Nate's face inched closer to hers, and then she simply sat there in shock as his lips met hers, her eyes obediently closing, but her lips confused and unsure of whether to kiss back or not. Before she could decide, he had pulled away. She opened her eyes and just stared at him unblinkingly, her brain had stopped functioning. With her free hand, she reached up and touched her lips. And then she reached out toward him slowly, her hand coming to rest on his neck.

And then she was kissing him again, her heart pounding violently in her chest as her mind screamed at her to stop.

Nate smirked a little as she looked confused touching her lips as if she didn't know what had just happened. He smiled as she reached toward him. His grin was then placed in his when his lips met hers again. He reached over to her and placed his hand on her hip like he had when they dated. He pulled away after a few amazing moments of bliss. He was speechless and this time it was him that placed his hand on his lips, running his fingertips over the smooth path.

Cadence was enthralled, relieved, confused, scared, and about a thousand other different emotions when Nate pulled away and the kiss ended. She rested her forehead against his, closing her eyes. She knew she shouldn't have done that, but there was no regret in her for it either. Sure, they were broken up, but it wasn't like either of them were seeing anyone else or anything. After a few moments, she scooted closer to him and just laid her head on his shoulder, still not saying a word. She knew that after all was said and done, they would still be broken up, but right now, she just wanted to be in this moment with him. Closing her eyes, she just allowed her body to relax and just be with him.

Nate just wanted to kiss and hold her for the rest of his life. It just felt so right. He never would forget her, ever. Nate stroked her hair taking in the wonderful smell of her. Nate wrapped his arms around her into a loose hug and twirled the ends of her hair. He noticed it had been growing out since she first cut it. But now it was back to when they first started dating 9ish months ago. Yet he still remembered it like it was yesterday.

Cadence smiled slightly as she felt Nate playing with her hair. That was the quickest way to make her heart melt. She curled her legs up under her on the bench and wrapped her arms around his middle, leaning into him. Quietly, she finally spoke, "Nate, I can't promise you that I'm just going to be here waiting for you to come back because I don't know what the next year will bring for either of us. But I can promise you that any other guy is going to have a hard time competing against you for my affections."

But she looked serious, and very curiously, at Brant when he started to explain what the Ancient Runes thing was about. She was so concentrated on his words, she hadn't noticed he had taken her hand until it was in his. Looking down, she felt her cheeks starting to burn at the simple yet sweet gesture. But it was all forgotten when the unwrapping of the most beautiful crystal heart was unveiled. And it had FLAMES in it!

Miranda's jaw dropped.

And that wasn't all of it...

His HEART?! What the flprs! Her eyes came up to meet his as he explained some more. It changed colors with his mood... Oh dear. And it had his name on it. Oh boy.

Looking down at he crystal again before returning to the boy, Miranda was at loss for words. "I-uh..." She held the heart in her hands, feeling quite overwhelmed at this...present. She didn't know what to say. At all. Like, whaaat? "It's really beautiful, Brant." Like Brant, with his generous sould and kind heart. Smiling softly up at him, she opened her mouth to speak again, "I'd love to keep it safe for you..." she really would. But something was nagging inside her, because she knew he kind of had stronger feelings for her than she did towards him. "I wan't you to know I care for you too, even though I'm not that good at showing it. It's just... this whole 'relationship' thing is really new to me..." She knew he would understand, because he was that understanding.

"And I'll understand if you'd want it back, some day..." Because he would probably fall in love with someone wonderful one day, and he's probably want to give it to her.

"Thankyou." She leaned in and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
Yup, that's about all the affection she could give right now. Exept for a fist to his shoulder, all bromance style. Kinnda.

"I understand that. I can't promise it either. Any other girl would have a hard time getting to my heart." he whispered into her hair. He smiled and kissed the top of her head.

Cadence squeezed him for a second and then relaxed again. This was pretty much the perfect way to end the term, just being out here with Nate. It was going to be hard not having him around next year, but she'd manage. She had made a lot of friends since the beginning of the year. She was sure they'd keep her sane. Unsure of what to say, she just closed her eyes again, burying her face further into his neck, taking in his smell and the way his fingers felt in her hair. Good thing she hadn't chopped it back off yet.

"What do you think will happen after your seventh year?" he said wondering about the future. He was sure he was gonna think of her when he was at home and remember these times. He just wanted to be hers forever.

Cadence shrugged slightly. She hadn't really given it much thought yet. "I honestly don't know. My life has been so unpredictable that I've never really had a chance to think very far into the future. I just... want to help people. Make people happy. So, any job that will let me do that, I'm all for. What about you?" she asked, though she had a feeling Nate would be even less sure about what he wanted to do after Hogwarts.

Brant just sat still as Miranda was telling him about how nice his gift was, and that she didn't really understand the word "Relationship", but that was ok for Him, Brant knew that it was going to take a while for her to warm up to him, and he would wait as long as it takes.

Thats what happens when Brant see's something that he wants, He will not stop until he has won his treasure, and right now the Treasure was Miranda.
"Miranda, Im not going to take the heart away from you, I made it for you only. No one else." he said while leaning back against the wall.

Then Miranda punched him in the arm, and Brant relaxed more. She wasn't upset with him. "I give you gifts and you punch me, ahahaha" he said while winking at her, for he was only joking around. "So, whats the first thing your going to do when you go home?" he asked her for he was always asking her questions about herself and her family.

"Im going to go right for my own bed, and flop right down on it. I know the beds here are comfy but, nothings better then your own bed right. Man its got so many pillows on it.. and Plus I want to see my parents Cat, Jinx. Hes always getting into trouble. Sometimes its Jinx and I , getting introuble together.. That cat!" he said while laughing.. Man, he wanted to go home and see his parents but.. on the other hand he didn't want to leave Miranda. He hoped that she wouldn't forget him over the summer Holidays.

"I've actually never thought about it. Maybe try to get a job as a assistant shop worker? I like Transfiguration and Muggle Studies, but I don't really know how to use those skills job wise. Maybe get an internship on Diagon Alley? Or even at St. Mungos. I don't know." he said thinking about it.

Cadence nodded her head, but kept it on his shoulder. "I think you'd be great working in Diagon Alley! That smile of yours could get anyone to buy anything!" she said with a giggle. It was true. A guy as cute as Nate could probably convince Cadence to buy anything as long as he was as nice as he looked. Now if he was cute and a jerk, she's probably hex him. But she could see Nate working in one of the stores in Diagon Alley. "I think I'm going to get caught up on school this summer," she said absentmindedly. "So, when I'll come back, I'll be back in the right year... fifth year."

"I bet you would buy a nonmagical broom from me, even if I told you it could fly." Nate laughed a little before smiling at her idea for the summer."Then, we could graduate together." he said smiling. He could imagine them together celebrating at Cadence's house after graduating. "I would be so proud if you got caught up."

Cadence giggled her cute little again and replied, "Probably!" But then her face wrinkled up in confusion. "No, Nate, you'd still graduate a year before me. You'd be in seventh year when I'm in sixth year. Unless you're not planning on doing any school while you're home," she said with a concerned tone. If that was the case, well, that would most certainly not do! He couldn't get a year behind! That would be awful for him!

"Oh. Sorry love. I was mistaken. But I still would be very proud if you caught up." he said grinning. "All this kissing makes my brain just get all jumbled." Nate winked at her and kissed her forehead. "So did you tell your parents you want to catch up?"

Cadence succumbed to a fresh fit of giggles and buried her face into Nate's shoulder. "Sorry!" she mumbled amidst her laughter. She could feel her face burning with a deep blush. "Didn't mean to jumble your brain!" her muffled voice said. And then she finally began to settle back down, and when she unburied her face, Nate was kissing her forehead. "No, I haven't, but they'll probably be all for it."

"Warning, I'm going to ask a question you may not want to answer. Did that kiss mean anything? Or what was it? It just keeps getting in the way of my thoughts." he said holding her close. He avoid eye contact until the very end. He wanted to keep strong.
