As you wander down the Hallways you notice a new door along the Eastern wall. Was it there last term? Quite possibly....as you approach the door you see a notice attached which reads:

Attention All Students!

This is the Staff Room. Under no circumstance should a student pass through this door. Any student caught on the other side will be sent to detention immediately, no questions asked! Continous violations could result in suspention!

Being a curious student you try the door knob....locked! Well, better not try again or risk detention....

Coffee? Cofffffeeeee? COFFEE?

Tate wandered into the staff room, hoping that somewhere in this castle was a pot of coffee. What was it with tea around here? He could generally find a French press or a cup of Turkish coffee anywhere on the continent, but people looked offended when he asked for coffee around here.

No coffee. He was going to have to chat with the elves, because this was not working for him. Tate slumped in a chair by the fire and closed his eyes.

Anastasia was in a bit of a daze and clearly in need of a good dose of caffeine coming from some chocolate. She actually had the full intent of heading straight for the kitchens and ~~beating~~ bribing the House Elves to give her a platter of truffles but paused once she entered the Ground Floor.

Hmm, perhaps she should scope out Max's stash of chocolates first? Or Marcus'? Things usually always tasted better when you ~~stole~~ borrowed them anyway.

Yes, that would be best. Annie started quietly creeping into the staff room, doing her best to not make a noise as she tiptoed toward the wardrobe in the corner. Luckily the coast looked clear... almost there.... she wasn't even wearing any clicky-clacky shoes today.... just a simple pair of flats.... now if only she could miss the creaky floor board by the fireplace, she could go shove all her chocolates into her face in peace...alone.

"You wear a lot of pink, I notice," Casey rolled his arm over the side of the chair, his body following until he was staring at the staff member in question.

Anastasia Bunbury.

"I thought we had an appointment."

Had she had her proper dose of chocolate for the day, Annie might have jumped a mile in the air and landed cat-like to curse out whoever had addressed her. But as she was, she simply froze in place and only turned her head to the man draped over the chair.

Hmm. This was the... Headmaster?

Headmaster. Appointment.

This brought up a distinct feeling of ANGERRRRRR. That was right. Headmaster Gaellen Tate.

"Ahhhhh you're Tate, aren't you?" Bunz automatically folded her arms over her chest and stared him down. "Yes. Talk to me."

"I hope so. That's what my mother has sewn into my underroos." Tate settled back into his chair. He would let her slink off again if she so chose, but he was available for said appointment at the moment.

Being harangued by beautiful women was a good substitute for coffee.

"And you are Anastasia Bunbury."

Ha ha ha he didn't he just think he was the funniest thing. He was a pretty big piece of manmeat, sure, but that was about it. Probably had no brains. Ethan was super smart, at least that could be said about him.......or it could have been said about him.... sniff... sniff....

"You owled me." She took a step closer toward his chair, still with her arms folded. "I went in to speak to you." Another step. "And you weren't there." Annie's eyes were slits now.

"Why?"

"Because I was here," he spread his hands out to indicate the chair, the room, the castle... England. Take your pick.

"I left a message for you, but the Aurors aren't particularly adept at acting as owls and seemed a bit put out that I was asking them to carry messages. Why not have a seat?"

"I don't trust you," Bunz blurted. She did wander over to the armchair next to him, however, and curled up at a right angle in the seat so her whole person was facing the Tate!chair.

There was a nice long silence, and then Annie added something that she thought seemed relevant.

"I was cleared by the Aurors before last term started. Absolutely cleared by them all. Of everything."

Right.

"I didn't ask you to trust me," Tate responded quietly. Obviously, it was easier to work with someone who trusted you, but he hadn't really earned it yet.

Hopefully, he would.

His eyebrows went up at her admission. "I do, however, trust you. I have it on good authority that you are trustworthy." Tate gave her a look that challenged her to respond to that.

Mmm interesting. He trusted Annie? He trusted the Bunzinator? Already?

Heheheheh.

Just one of Bunz's eyebrows matched Tate's for a moment, and then she stretched her legs out over the arm of the chair and snuggled deeper into the seat, thoughtfully curling a long lock of hair around her finger.

"And who would that good authority be?"

"That reminds me," Tate pulled out his wand and flicked it, summoning something form his office. He wasn't prevaricating... the question was related to the object he was waiting for.

And there it was.

"I'm supposed to give this to you," he wrapped his sleeve around the handle of a wand, offering it to Professor Bunbury. The stupid thing kept making his fingers swell.

Was it some sort of Tate/Auror/Headmaster policy to NOT directly answer questions? Annie would have been miffed had he not just suddenly whipped out his wand and summoned....

"Michelle?" Bunz squeaked and clambered to her knees on the armchair, balancing carefully as she took the wand from him. She sank back, slightly open-mouthed, as she examined it carefully.

"This is Michelle." Yes it was indeed. Annie looked up and hugged the wand to her chest like it was a kitten. "How did you get Michelle?"

Wait for it, wait for the crazy wheels to turn in her little red head....

"YOUUUUUU." Annie stiffened suddenly in her chair and pointed the wand at Tate in an accusatory manner. "YOUUUUUU took Ethan. YOU TOOK HIM!"

"Yes," Tate admitted, his tone careful even if his expression was dismissive. "He is in Azkaban as we speak. He waived his right to a trial, which is typically a clear admission of guilt."

He gave the woman a pitying look, even if she WAS brandishing a wand at him.

Annie's wand hand wavered uncharacteristically. "Why? Why? Why would he do that? He didn't do anything! He didn't even do anything! HE HASN'T DONE A THING!"

She dropped the wand and was out of the chair in one motion, already on her way to the wardrobe and the chocolates she knew were hidden in the back. Annie started tossing cloaks and scarves out as she rooted around in frustration, talking to the herself, the wardrobe and/or Tate and getting progressively louder as she searched for food.

"It's all Kazimeriz's fault. I know it. He fired Zan for petty, STUPID reasons, or no reason at all, and I wasn't even here because my Mother is a half-dead dolt and my brother runs around with turtle-loving TARTS but you know, no, it was all okay, because Ethan was going to go get a job in Egypt and I could keep working at Hogwarts for a bit, only wait, NOT ANYMORE, none of that can happen because he decides to DISAPPEAR and GET ARRESTED for MERLIN KNOWS WHAT. HOLY. HIPPOGRIFFS, DOES HE WANT TO DIE ALONE IN AZKABAN?"

Bunz had her chocolates now. She stormed back to her chair, kicking clothing off the floor as she stomped around, and then threw herself into the seat.

"I HATE this school."

"Well, I seriously doubt he'll die there," Tate responded quietly. The woman was in full out temper tantrum, and he watched her with some interest. Funny to contrast this woman, who ran hot, to Truebridge, who showed limited emotion.

"He isn't... He's not harmed." Ick. Sentimental nonsense. "Don't waste your energy hating a building that can't possibly hate you back. Why don't we hate Kazimeriz instead? He's set up as the bad guy in this story already."

Annie ignored Tater and quietly (and angrily) ate her chocolates for a good ten minutes. Sure SURE Ethan wouldn't die there. He would probably be all noble, like he was, and be extra.... extra somber... and wouldn't smile... and wouldn't eat... and...

What would she do here without him?

"Shuuure, Kazimieriz ish to blame," she muttered through her caramel-coated molars, "but SCHO ARE YOU." Annie fumbled around her seat for Michelle and pointed her at Tate again, albeit more lazily this time. "Did he ASHK to GO? What were cha chargesh? Ishn't Michelle evidensh or schomethin?"

"I'm not an Auror, and even if I was... I couldn't discuss an open case with you." Meh. Mostly not true at all. He couldn't explain things to her, though, and especially not here when he felt sure they could be overheard.

"But he asked me to have you watch Michelle until he could retrieve her. Isn't that something?"

"Liar." Anastasia swallowed the last of her chocolates and grumpily tossed the box to the floor. Now she just needed a drink and she could call it a night. Or at least go back to her greenhouses and work some of her frustration out.

Tate's tone was keeping her here though. Until he could retrieve her. Was that... hope? He'd said Ethan wouldn't die there... but... that told her nothing about why he was in Azkaban in the first place.

"This whole situation is absolutely ridiculous, Headmaster Tate, if I may be frank." The redhead folded her arms (Michelle included) and stared him through. "You're not an Auror, no, of course you're just a Headmaster. You gave me the wand but you can't discuss more details with me. Of course not. Isn't that something. What else can't you tell me, hmm?"

"If you wanted to send Zan a message, I would ensure that he received it. I'm not sure if he would willingly answer your questions right now, but he may be able to provide you with some piece of mind that he isn't suffering. On the whole, Azkaban isn't nearly as miserable without the dementors."

Hmm. "I agree. Ridiculous."

"Fine." Annie turned away from Tate and lazily flicked Michelle at the small mess she'd made. The empty chocolate box disappeared and with another flick, the coats and scarves tidied themselves up and were promptly back in place in the wardrobe.

She was thinking.

"Tell him...." Annie sighed and twirled her lock of hair about her finger again. She opened her mouth like she was going to say something, and then thought better of it and closed her mouth, only to repeat the process again.

She tapped Michelle against her thigh and then stood. Too much time in this room. Bunz needed to get back to her plants. "I'll owl it to you."

"I'll look forward to it. Good day, Professor Bunbury," Tate watched her leave with an amused expression before returning to his no-coffee sulk.
