Having walked down from the castle to get some real fresh air for once, Evelyn paused for a moment, just starring at the ground. It had been a long year. Long long year, and she was ready to go home. Well, of course she wasn't going home, she had gotten a letter the other day from her uncle. He was totally going to kidnap her and take her on a vacation for the summer.

However exciting that was though, she just couldn't find the energy to really be happy. She was happy, but, she just couldn't show it for some reason. It was...frustrating. Perhaps this summer though she can actually be happy for once. Well, now that made her happy just to think about that!

Her thought process though was stopped when she heard someone saying something about someone having a crush on Carter? Whaaat? Frowning, she walked around a few rocks and such to see two familiar people. What were they doing all the way out here? And who had a crush on Carter? Carter! Of all people! It seemed more likely that Marie would though considering the quidditch match. Pfft and here she thought...that they were just friends.

"Hey. What are you two doing out here?" she asked, walking slowly closer to them but keeping her distance at the same time. She didn't want to be intruding on any private conversations...

Oh who was she kidding. Of course she did...

Pffft. Marie was totally laughing at her because Destiny had to roll out of bed. It wasn't funny. Not one bit. Well, it would have been funny, if it was happening to someone besides herself. 'I guess you're right.' she shrugged. Evan would be used to the pain by now, and he should be able to lift a quill. Seriously, how hard would it be to lift one of those. They aren't exactly the heaviest thing in the world. 'I'm sure he has his reasons why he isn't writing to you. Maybe..maybe he has a surprise for you!' But that wouldn't be a reason for him to lose contact with her.

Boy. Destiny was so bad at this kind of stuff.

Sure, she could give advice on boys, and the only thing she would say was to stay away. Didn't Marie know how gross they were!?

Obviously not.

What was up with these pureblood families and their dislike of muggles!? Merlin. It was annoying, and Destiny was so glad her parents could care less of who she talks too. And if it weren't for muggles, she would have never been able to watch the awesome muggle box. 'You could always sneak.' she smirked. 'But I have no idea how you get get wherever you had to go.' It might look strange that a thirteen year old is travelling all by herself anyway. 'Yeah, I think seeing him in Diagon Alley is a much better idea. He would have to go there to get his supplies. Unless..nevermind.' she shook her head. She would not finish that sentence. She was sure Marie did not want to think about the fact that Evan might not be coming back next term.

If there was a table out here, Destiny would be banging her own head against it right about now.

Too much drama at such a young age.

'I think when' or if 'you see him, you give him a piece of your mind!' Destiny went on to poke the air, pretending it was Evan, 'You will get me a birthday present right now, mister!' If Marie would do that, Destiny would surely die of laughter. She lowered her finger, turned back to Marie and shrugged, 'Or you could do something else. I don't know.' She was having a hard time coming up with good ideas lately.Something had to be wrong when she couldn't even think of ways to make The Lawsonator's life miserable. *sigh*

Destiny gave a sarcastic nod at what Marie had said. Right. Like she was going to believe that Marie did not have a crush on the boy. It was obvious. Well, it was only obvious to Destiny right now. She wouldn't have known otherwise. 'Sooo..you like both of them?' she asked with an eyebrow raised. Seriously, where is a table when you need one? Maybe she could use the rock instead? No, that would hurt. She heaved a sigh, 'Welllll. There has to be one that you like more. Right?' There was no way she could like both of them just the same. It wasn't possible.

Gah. Destiny had a headache.



Destiny was just about to suggest something to Marie, when she heard the voice of Evelyn. THANK MERLIN!

Evelyn was a life savior and she didn't even know it. Who else better to talk about this kind of stuff than Evelyn! She had Josh *shiver* and she would probably give out better advice. 'Well, I was looking for Sly, and I found Marie out here.' she said pointing to the girl next to her.

Maybe when they started to talk, she could go off and find her cat..

Marie looked up when she heard a familiar voice.

Evelyn.... "Hey Evelyn, we were just talking.....about boys." Well only about two boys but they were still boys. "Wanna join us?" Maybe she would be able to help her understand how she was feeling.



"Yeah, I'm sure he has his reasons for not writing too." she said in a sarcastic tone. Really, he had no reason for not writing unless he just didn't want to talk to her anymore. Because clearly, if he still wanted to be her boyfriend then he wouldn't let almost three months go by without writing back to her. 'Yeah I bet he has a surprise for me. Surprise, I'm breaking up with you.' she thought. She was done writing to him, he could contact her now if he wanted to talk to her. Being mad at him still didn't stop the hurt she was feeling.

"Yeah, you're right, I will just wait to see him when he is out getting his supplies for next term. That is if he even comes back next term." If he could stay away this long now why would he want to come back later? And if she did see him maybe she would just give him the silent treatment like he was giving her now.

Leave it to Destiny to think she should give him a piece of her mind. Silly girl. "No, I think when I see him I will just ignore him like he is doing to me now." Well she would try to ignore him.

And then there was Carter. Did she like them both? She really didn't know for sure. She knew she liked Evan.....a lot. So much that her heart hurt when she thought about him not being there, even if she was mad at him right now.

And Carter... Well she did like spending time with him, he was always there when she needed his help, she liked spending time with him, he was sweet and nice and easy to talk to, and she liked spending time with him, he was friendly and understanding, oh and she liked spending time with him.

GAH!!! Why did Carter have to be so darn likeable and cute?

Looking back over at Destiny, and now Evalyn too she said, "I don't know what to think right now. Sometimes I think I am starting to like Carter as more than a friend but then I think about Evan and I start missing him. Then I feel guillty for thinking about Carter." That really wasn't what Destiny had asked though. "I'm pretty sure Evan is the one I like more....No I am sure Evan is the one I like more. It's just well....Now I think I am starting to like Carter too and that really confuses me." How was it that two boys could make things so complicated for one girl?

Sly ran off again? Destiny really needed to keep that leash on that cat and tie him to her bed post. Otherwise one day, she wasn't going to find him again. Of course, Evelyn would buy her a new kitten whenever that happened, but hopefully she wouldn't have to. "Look around where there are big patches of missing grass." she muttered, before walking closer. "I know that he still eats grass."

There were traces of it in the dormitory, but that had no connection to why Marie was out here. What was she doing? Thinking about escaping through the gates? To where though, Evelyn had no clue.


Nodding at Marie as a greeting, her eyes widened in surprise when she heard the topic that was being discussed. Well, she shouldn't be all that surprised since she overheard a little bit of the conversation already. Boys. She really was no expert on that and she didn't really want to join in with the conversation, but...well she wanted to know what they were talking about. Something about Carter, that was all she knew.

Walking over to the rock her two friends were sitting on, she took off her jacket and placed it on the ground before sitting down on it, leaning her back against the hard rock and staring forward before listening to what Marie was saying.

Apparently someone was not writing to the girl, and that made her upset? Obviously it was...a boy. Oh. Evan. She had heard something about that, and now that she thought about it, she hadn't seen the Slytherin boy around lately. Where was he? But Marie just answered part of her question. He wasn't at school and he might not come back next year. Why did he leave in the first place?

So Marie likes Evan, but she's starting to like Carter. All Evelyn could think about though was Marilyn. That girl was not going to be happy when she finds out about this, especially if Carter likes Marie too. And Evelyn will NOT be choosing between friends if it ever came down to it. "Marie..." she said, turning around so she was facing the two Slytherins and leaning back on her hands. "Maybe you should just, forget, about both of them this summer. Let your mind take a break. Do something fun, relaxing, exciting... It sounds like this is really stressing you out, and stress can cause hasty decisions and ill judgments. Trust me...I know."

Smiling slightly, she took a deep breathe, glancing around at their surroundings for a moment before looking back to Marie. "And when the summer is over..." She wanted to say choose the most logical choice, but she just couldn't. "Let your heart decide. You should know by then what you want. Or in this case...who you want when you see him."

That is, if she'll ever see Evan. Otherwise, she'll be stuck with Carter. Eh. Carter...

She should just forget about them? Like that would happen. Evan had already been gone for almost three months and she still thought about him all the time. No, she didn't think she would be forgetting about him anytime soon.

As for Carter.... Well they had already planned on meeting in Diagon Alley over the summer. What was she suppose to do, tell him she couldn't meet him because she needed to forget about him for awhile? No, she wouldn't do that to him.

After a few minutes of thinking about what Evelyn had said to her she looked down at her sitting there on the grass. "I don't know if I can do that. I mean how do I just forget about them?" Her feelings weren't something she could just turn off and on like a light. "Besides, I don't know how much fun I will be having. My parents are going to Italy shortly after I get home so I will be staying with my grandparents most of the summer." So far they hadn't said they were going to be doing anything so she was just assuming she would be stuck hanging out at Malfoy Manor all summer.... except for the days she got to go to Diagon Alley. Yeah, that sounded like a real fun summer to her. Thirteen and stuck with her grandparents for the summer while her parents were off traveling and having a good time.

Then she remembered her bet with Rex, maybe that would be something that could help her take her mind off of Evan and Carter, if even for just a little while. There was no way Rex was getting more points than her this term, she was winning that bet, even if Slytherin didn't come in first place. Then she would get to boss him around and make him be her slave.

Yes, now that would be FUN!

Of course she would have to go to Diagon Alley for this, where she could risk running into Evan and Carter but at least she would be doing something fun.

Let her heart choose who she wanted to be with.... Well that was easy right now. Her heart was telling her Evan, it was her thoughts that were tellling her different. Of course she had no idea what her heart would be telling her after she seen Evan and actually got to talk to him again. If she seen him again. She still wasn't convinced that she was going to ever be seeing him again. "Yeah, let my heart choose." She really didn't knw what other way to respond to that right now.

Evelyn smiled slightly, shifting her weight to her other arm and looking back up to Marie. "Easier said than done, huh?" She herself had a hard time forgetting a certain Gryffindor boy last summer, no matter how much she tried to drill him out of her mind. But she had found ways where it was bearable. "I don't mean, you know, completely obliviate them from your mind for the entire summer..."

Maybe that was what she meant. It would definitely make it easier for Marie, that was for sure. And for herself too. Then she wouldn't have to start freaking out about Marilyn. "I just mean, do something to take your mind off of them for awhile. Whether it's a boring summer or not, there is still a ton of stuff to do right? Flying, running, baking, swimming, terrorizing the muggles, reading- oh! Hey, speaking of reading, I'm reading up on animagus. I'm thinking about giving it a try sooner or later. Probably later though, I still have a ton of reading and studying to do on it. Do you...want to join in? I think Destiny is studying too, though I haven't seen her crack open a book on it yet." she said, smirking over at Destiny and giving her a pointed look. Yea, unless she was hiding it under her pillow and had x-ray vision...

"Which, by the way, you did not hear me just say that." She didn't need the whole world knowing. Besides, it was none of their business anyway. Nodding her head at her own words, she decided against being all clean for the moment and laid down, putting her hands behind her head and looking up at the sky. She'll just buy new clothes later anyways.

Let her heart choose. Yea, that was a brilliant thing to say. Pfft. Perhaps she should take her own advice instead of listening to her mind. Then again, it was easier said than done. "Well, you know. We're still pretty young right? We have a ton of time for all this boy stuff...I mean we're only thirteen. Well, you two are thirteen right?" Stupid birthdays and age. She still felt like she was the youngest EVER! "I don't know why anyone is worrying about boys now anyways. We should be worrying about quidditch, exams, the next Huffie or Gryffindork we'll be messing with...not this stress."

Destiny was so sure Sly was not eating grass anymore. Just because there were some hints of it in her bed some mornings, did not mean it was from Sly. It could have been that Gryffindork of a snake Evelyn had. But that would mean the snake was in her bed..with her!

She shivered at the thought of the snake sleeping in the bed with her, and decided not to comment about the grass anymore.

It did explain why Sly's tongue was green sometimes..

Right now there were more important things to discuss. Marie's dilemma with Carter and Evan. And she was so glad Evelyn had come and she did have a great idea. Destiny would have never thought about forgetting both boys, and well, it was good. The further she stayed away from the boys, the less chance she would have at catching the boy disease known as 'cooties.' She didn't care that she was the only one that knew they had them. That's why she was rarely sick, she stayed away from boys.

Destiny would have gladly offered Marie to stay at her house over the summer, but she wasn't sure herself if she would even be there. She had a feeling she was going to be shipped off to her grandmothers house again, and Destiny was sure Marie would not have fun there..unless she liked cats and random made up stories. But seriously, who would like that? And going to bed at seven, that was the worst part!

Destiny turned to Evelyn when she mentioned the animagus book, 'I have been studying, thank you very much! It's not my fault you are constantly hogging the book, and I never get a chance to look at it.' Right now that duplicating spell would work wonders, and she wondered why she never thought about that before. That would be too much work though, and her grandmother did have books in her basement. Destiny would just snoop a bit down there and find her own books.

She snorted when Evelyn said they had plenty of time to worry about boys. Yeah, Destiny did not have boys on her mind and probably wouldn't for a long time. 'I am thirteen.' she said rather proudly. But..that made her the oldest! Pffft. One would think that her being the oldest she would be the one to like boys first. Wrong. 'Or you know..you could just stay away from boys forever.'

Become an old cat lady or something..like her grandmother.

"Yeah, maybe you're right. Maybe I should try and do things that will help clear my mind a little." she said to Evelyn. Maybe being away from school and Carter would help her better understand what was going on in her head.

Whatever she did she was NOT going to take Destiny's advice. She was not going to stay away from boys forever. No Way.

Evelyn was right, just because she wasn't going anywhere for the summer there were still lots of things she could do. Like reading, she liked to read a lot. Animagus, Evelyn wanted to be an animagus? "Well...I never thought about doing anything like that before..." Except in that one transfiguration class where they had to transform a part of their body into something from an animal. That was a strange class for sure. "...Maybe I could read about it. It would give me something to do over the summer."

Marie looked over at Destiny when Evelyn said she was studying to be an animagus too. Oh the fun they could have if they were all animagi. Yes, she would definatly have to start reading up on them this summer. "Hear what, I didn't hear anything, did you Destiny?" She looked back over at her with a evil little grin.

She had actually forgotten to think about Evan or Carter for a couple of minutes when Evelyn had distracted her about reading. But here it was again, the subject of boys. Now they were both back in her mind again. "Yeah, I know we're young but I didn't choose to have this stress, it just happened. And yes, I'm thirteen." Seriously, she didn't think she would even be thinking about boys until she was at least in her forth year. So much for that happening.

Oooh, the next Gryffindork or Puffylump they were going to mess with. That brought a smile to her face. "You know, I do believe Rex is going to lose this little bet I have with him. You two wanna help me make him suffer through his losses?" If he was going to be her slave then that meant he would have to do everything she told him to do....including doing things for Destiny and Evelny too. That is if they wanted to watch the dork suffer.

What? She had NOT been hogging the book! Wait..."Oh. Umm..." she forgot to tell Destiny about that little bit of information. "My Uncle, he sent me new books on animagus. I've been reading those. But, I can totally give you some for the summer if you want. Give you something to do over the summer if you're bored. I forgot to tell you that...sorry."

Marie never thought about becoming an animagus? Ever since Transfiguration class, that's all she'd been thinking about! Well, no it was more ever since that meeting with Professor Lupa. But the Patronus charm was more on her mind that day than anything else. She still needed to work on that one...perhaps over the summer she could start trying it. "I could give you the other books I have if you want. I've already read through all of them, so I don't really need them. I just need them back next term so I can send them back to my uncle. He's only borrowing them from people for my use."

She was really tempted to say something about having Sly not get too close to the books either in case he found paper rather tasty as well, but refrained from doing so. She already bugged Destiny about him eating grass, she figured she would let this one slide for the time being. Unless he really did chew up one of the her books.

Snickering when Marie pretended to not hear what she said, Evelyn sat back up and crossed her legs before wiping the dirt off of her arms. Eh, there were still scars on them, but thankfully they were starting to fade away. Hopefully by next term they will be completely gone. So they were both already thirteen? Yea, now she felt small...stupid August birthday...

"Well, life isn't fair." she mumbled, standing up and brushing any grass or anything off of her shirt and pants. "I'm sure you'll figure everything out soon Marie. Just takes time I guess." Destiny's advice though, to stay away from boys forever, actually sounded pretty good. No stress of them, OR from parents! But, thinking of boys now, she had yet to apologize to Josh about what had happened. Well she did, but she didn't think it was enough for one little 'sorry'...

Marie's bet with Rex. Either she forgot about it, or the Slytherin didn't mention it, Evelyn could not remember what it was, but she nodded anyways. "Of course. A chance to make the Gryffindork suffer is something I would definitely not be able to pass up." And to see Kay's face in the process. Mwaha!

To say Destiny was confused would be an understatement. What didn't Marie hear? Did someone cast the Muffliato on her when no one was looking? 'Marie..Evelyn said we are learning to become animagus. And then she said..oh nevermind..' she trailed off, finally realizing what was going on. Turning to Evelyn when she mentioned new books, Destiny mouth hung open a little bit. 'How could you forget to tell me? That is something you just don't forget!' That is like forgetting to put socks on, which Destiny has done on numerous occasions, but that is not the point right now.

'It's okay.' she shrugged at Evelyn's apology. 'I'm going to snoop in my grandmothers basement. She has all types of books down there,' along with useless other junk, like that toaster, 'I can probably find something there about it.' And possibly find more things to leave in front of the Lawsonator's office door. 'I did tell you my grandmother is an animagus..right?' She really couldn't remember..

Destiny couldn't agree more with what Evelyn had said. Life was not fair, and after the past few weeks, that was her motto type thing. Of course, it wasn't an official motto or anything, more like a secret one. 'I still say to just stay away from boys. It would be much easier..' Was anyone going to take her advice!?

Annnnd confusion set in Destiny's head again. What bet was Marie talking about? But at the word suffer, she frowned a bit. Hadn't they ALL suffered enough? It was Rex and Kay though, and well, Destiny still didn't like them. Now smirking, thoughts ran through her head. Maybe she could get raccoons to attack them, see how they like it. 'What do you have planned for them?'
