"Oh really?" Didn't want to make her sad.. like she was having a party listening to what he was telling her. She felt a sort of aggression because what he was saying wasn't true. "No, it's all right.. I think I can handle it." She looked away immediately. She didn't feel like meeting eyes with anyone.

If he thought that Ella liked Carter, they could've had a talk about it, not a whole breakup. She knew boys and the way they acted, and she wasn't going to let this go easily. They had spent more than a year, including a summer together, and he would just.. leave?
