Standing before are two very strong and impassible metal doors that form an obstacle that separates you from the outer world. Meant to keep the unruly students (no offense) in and any unwanted strangers out, the gates always remain locked, except for in the cases of Hogsmeade weekends.

Carter wandered down to the front gates. He found this place toward the end of last year. It was a good place to think. He and Mina had a good conversation when he stumbled upon the patch of grass he was standing on now. He took a seat and just looked up at the sky.

With her journal in her hand and a new quill in her hair, Mina made her way down to her favorite spot on the grounds, the front gates. Well, it was just one of her favorite spots on the grounds actually. But it was her number one thinking spot for sure.

Keeping her eyes on the journal, she kept walking to her destination. With the occasional glance in the direction of the Forbidden Forest, she smiled. Carter and I still did need to explore it. It would be one of their many adventure they could have together, well at least she hoped it would be one in many. She wasn't all too sure about it, but she did hope to have more than one adventure with her firend.

Walking into the clearing, she smiled brightly at the sight of the massive metal gates. This was really home for her. Moving closer she noticed she wasn't alone and shook her head. If it wasn't the boy that she was just thinking of. Quietly she walked over to him and found her usual stones. Taking a seat a top them, she cleared her throat. "Hey Carter." she said as she opened the journal upon her knees.

Mina shook her head and smiled. "I would charge you rent on it, but there is more than enough room to share it." she replied playfully. "Beside, I'm sure we aren't the only people to find this place nice." she added pulling the quill from her hair. It was after all quiet and a perfect place to think.

Carter laughed. "I wouldn't mind if we were the only one's that liked this place. I think being kind of secluded makes it more likable." he said stretching out more in the grass. He leaned back on his elbows at looked at her. After a few seconds he averted his attention back up to the sky. He wanted to get up there again so bad. He had a lot of pre-tryout nerves. He'd be devastated if he didn't make the team again.

Carter laughed. "Sure do." he said gazing up at the sky. "Maybe later we can all have a race on our broomsticks. Mine has been locked up since I got it. I tried sneaking it out when Anya was napping... but my parents weren't too fond of the idea."

Mina smiled and gave him a nod. "Sure, I've been wanting to get back on my broomsticks." she replied as she glanced up at the sky as well. "You see, I had a feeling Anya would keep you busy. If it makes you feel better, I only practiced a few times on mine. I'm not really that used to it but I so understand that feeling you get being up there in the sky now." she added with a smile. The feeling was something she couldn't really explain, but once you felt it it stayed with you.

"I don't have a quaffle or anything, but I always have my soccer ball. We can play a little game of airborne catch." Carter suggested.

"Soccer ball could work," Mina smiled. "You do realize you are like the best friend a girl can have for wanting to help me and I owe you." she added. She needed to work on catching and any edge would be helpful. She was still kicking herself for not taking more time in her summer to practice on a real quidditch pitch.

"I think there are this week sometime, Adrienne hasn't really given us the times yet." Mina explained. "So now would be the best time. I mean if I complete terrible then I can save myself the humiliation of my try-out." she laughed nervously. She still wasn't all that confident in her ability to actually play.

Carter smiled as he helped Mina up. "Well you soon will." he said leading the way back to the castle. "Even if neither of us makes the team this year we'll both get a lot of flying in. We should meet up every week to do a few laps around the lake." he said. He needed to get his fill of flying before next summer. And yes, he was thinking about not being able to fly during the summer already. "And that way you get away from all that studying and I get some time with my favorite Ravenclaw."

Mina smiled as she followed Carter back to the castle. "Well, I was hoping at least one of us would make a team. It will make cheering more fun." she said. "Plus, I was so working on a Carter cheer for you." she teased a little. She was actually throwing around ideas for a lot of cheers. "Laps do sound fun though. I actually do like being up in the air." she sighed happily. She was a bit upset she could take the flying lessons again this year, but being as she could fly and was going to try out for the team, she wasn't really allowed. Hearing him call her his favorite 'claw, she blushed a little. "Well, you know I do love getting to spend time with my favorite Gryffindor and an escape from the massive studying ahead of me."

And he was also her favorite Gryffindor. But, he shouldn't let that go to his head. As they neared the castle he said. "I'll just run up and get my broom, we can meet by the lake in a few minutes. Does that sound good?"

"I promise to do the cheer at your first match if you do make the team and if I'm not playing as well. Pom poms and face painted too." she offered. She did still need to start on those things but those could wait for later. "Yeah, I need to drop my journal off and grab my broom too." she nodded in agreement. "Down by the lake in a few would be perfect."
