Neptune didn't JUMP at the idea of running over to share a new find with Kellen; not after he had just thrown SWAMP at her person and laughed about it. She did sort of lazily saunter over towards him, occasionally running her fingers through her hair to check it. Ugh. Neptune stood a good few paces from Kellen with his stupid book.

She was not amused anymore. "I suppose so. I hope it's a diary." Full of SCANDALOUS secrets.

Kellen stood up as well, a bemused little smirk on his face, "Well you're not going to find out standing way over there, are you?"

He wiggled the book at her temptingly, and its worn cover seemed to say 'you know you want to read me'. Kellen didn't particularly want her to be upset, but he wasn't going to trip over his feet to apologize either. That's what some of her other male friends were for.

"I AM in Ravenclaw for a reason, you know. I'm not going to just walk back over there and have you sling swamp at me again then laugh. No Sir. Your trust for the day from me is tarnished. Receded. No more." Kellen could take his weak apology and put it in his ear.

Hmph.


"Fool me once, shame on you." Neptune crossed her arms over her chest and glared at Kellen and his stupid book. SOME HERO.

"I see."

Well maybe it was a bit mean to laugh at her squealing over her hair. A bit. Chaucer did the same thing, after all. And so did Kellen.

He tucked his hands in his pockets, the book held against his side by his arm, and regarded her curiously, "Well, Miss Bott, if I'm supposed to be your hero I guess we have two options. Either you find yourself a new hero, or you tell me how we can get that trust level back up."

"You don't just find heroes. Heroes are born from heroic actions. But today, today, Kellen you might be the," cue stage whisper, "villain."

Seriously. He'd started off UBER sweet, taking her hands and swinging them and being cute and curious....

..and all downhill from there.


"I'm not opposed to you trying to do something heroic. I'd like that." Neptune nodded to him with a good a mix of hope and the BIG eyes and subtle disbelief that he was capable of doing anything heroic.

The last was just for motivation. Silent!innergiggle!

"A villain? Hmm." She had no idea how much that appealed to him. Hey, Allison already thought he was an evil pyromaniac, maybe he could do something with that image. If heroes had to get crowded by crazy girls and villains got to flick swamp water at them - not that he'd actually done that, just pretended - there might be something to being a villain after all.

"Sorry Neptune, but I guess my brain is too much in knave mode right now, I can't think of anything heroic." Part of him didn't want to ask this; she might come up with something horrifying. The other half was curious as to how this girl's brain worked. The curse of the Ravenclaw, "I wonder if perhaps you could think of something I could do. Or try to do. Maybe I'm not heroic enough to succeed."

Which is Kellen-speak for 'if it's too embarrassing I'm not doing it.'

Neptune sighed at Kellen. "That's cheating. Heroic actions can't be premeditated and preplanned on YOUR part...."


Neptune threw a glance at the swamp.


....

Plotting, considering, planning occurred, which was seen by the little wrinkle in her forehead.

Then, slowly, she took a step towards the swamp. Then another. And another.

"Well, no, I know that much. I was thinking more like..."

He watched her glance in the direction of the swamp.

He watched her start walking towards the swamp.

"Neptune, what are you doing?"

Neptune started taking much, much slower steps when her toes touched the very edge of the murky swamp. And slower still when her steps started making tiny ripples across the water's surface.

It was obvious what she was doing, so Neptune provided no answer for Kellen.

Sneeze, sneeze, no other thing than that could be heard along the fifth floor corridor as Annie walked through it. She hated having her cold, and just when she thought she had it all figured out off it, it came back. Ugh...

She hated to admit it, but she was to visit the nurse sooner or later.

"Hey!"

Kellen let the book drop as he reached out and grabbed her upper arm with one hand, wrapping the other arm around her waist and pulling her backwards, "What are you, nuts? You could contract something if you step in there!"

There was no way this counted as a heroic act. Not in his mind at least. But maybe it counted to Neptune and she'd blow it out of proportion the next time she talked to anyone?

He heard the sneezing and let go of Neptune's arm to subtly indicate the girl with the cold, "See? I'll bet she waded in as well. It's contaminated."

Neptune was glad that Kellen DID grab her because the germ spreading Sneezer had totally startled her. Considering how close she was to the swamp? Indeed, there had been a diverted disaster.

She CLUNG to him for dear life.


"I was..." Oh, she was contaminated? Gross. She freed up one hand from his robes and looped her shirt collar over her nose to keep the germs from getting into her mouth or nasal cavities. "You saved me again." Neptune, once more, SWOONED into him.

Drew walked through the fifth floor corridor headed back up to the common room. Grrrr! OWLs really weren't that much funnnn at all. But then he heard somebody sneezing huh? Someone didn't feel sooo good. He took a quick look around to find Annie?

He walked up behind her and touched her shoulder lightly. "You okay? You sound pretty bad if you were to ask me." Drew said softly to Annie so he wouldn't scare her.

"If you say so." Was it a bad thing that he was starting to get desensitized to her hugging him and clinging to him all the time? Probably.

He glanced down at her with her shirt collar over her nose and smirked, but then his eyes went to the discarded book and he raised an eyebrow at her, "Would you like to look over the book now? Since you're saved and maybe I'm not a complete villain any more?"

Neptune hushed Kellen for a moment to watch this exchange. Definitely an older boy, like Raiden's age or so. Gryffindor... So asking Daphne about him and his relationship with Sneezy. Hmm.

Neptune giggled at the other pair as she brought her attention back to Kellen. How she ever took her attention from him, considering she was attached to his person, was special in and of itself. GIGGLE. "I never said you were a complete villain. Just on the precipice of becoming one. You TOTALLY redeemed yourself," she explained with no small amount of reverence. Needless to say she definitely look into his book.

She took his wrist and pulled him away from the swamp edge and then sat daintily down in the shadow of Boris. She pilfered the book from his hands and opened it up. "OoOoooooooo!"

Yeah, the Tale of the Swamp was going to get retold any day now. If Kellen had knowledge of the Muggle world he probably would have cracked a joke about Batman, but instead he let her drag him away from the swamp and to one of the ugly statues.

While Neptune sat down, Kellen preferred to stand. It'd be a lot easier to stop her if she decided spur-of-the-moment that he needed to be her hero again. He leaned against the statue, hands in pockets, but at the sound of her intrigued noise he peered over her shoulder to look at the pages, "What? Anything interesting?"

Ugh. How bad would see be seen by the couple talking by the statues that made her look as a villian now. Annie was disconcerned though, she just wanted to get to the hospital wing floor and see nurse. "I am sorry, this is supposed to be over by now, but don't worry..." Annie said, taking her handkerchief out of her sweater pocket and placing it to cover her nose and mouth.

And then, the least unexpected person appeared. Drew. No, no no!!! He wasn't supposed to see her like this, sick and pale and all icky. "Hey Drew..." She answered, trying to think of something to say before the silence was broken again.

Not really, no. But Neptune wanted Kellen to feel like he'd dug up TREASURE so she was putting on a good show. "It's a day planner!" HOW EXCITING! She rearranged herself so that the book could lay open across her knees. WHY Kellen was choosing to stand was beyond Neptune, really, but no matter. She'd just read it to him.

"From last year, though," she noted, flipping through the pages carefully. "November 4th, Lunch in the Village with E.. OoOOOo who do you SUPPOSE E is? Oh how scandalous!"

At first Kellen was minorly disappointed; a day planner? Who cared? It had probably been there since the dawn of...

"Wait, last year?" That was recent. Recent meant that people mentioned weren't only still alive, they could still be in the school now. Curiosity telling him to move closer to see the book, he slid down beside her and reread what she'd told him.

"No idea. Does it say in the front of the planner whose this is?"

Detective skills engaged.

Neptune BEAMED like the sunshine when he finally came to sit with her. She leaned over to bump him with her shoulder before continuing The Day Planner Investigations. "Nope," she flipped to the cover and then through the first few pages. "It's oddly unclaimed. And lots of abbreviations. Lookit this one, BT time on.. June 30th. I can feel my nose twitching I feel SO nosy right now! Can you see it twitching?" Neptune's eyes went crossed in attempt to see her own nosy nose.

... GIGGLE.

Drew walked to the front of Annie to get a better look of her. Awww she was sick. She looked all pale and just yucky. "Hey. You should probably head to the nurse. You really don't look good." He said slightly worried. Of course he was worried he liked Annie a lot! And seeing her sick made him worry.

"Twitching like a rabbit," he confirmed, even though it wasn't really moving at all. He was tempted to nudge her back, but decided that this was one of those instances where girls don't appreciate reciprocated actions and turned his attention back to the planner.

"BT time, June 30th? BT..." Kellen glanced back at the swamp, the odor of which he could faintly smell from where they were sitting, "You don't think they mean Bath Time, do you? Maybe whoever owned this has hygiene issues; it'd certainly explain why we found it in a swamp."

Like a rabbit? "Do you like rabbits?" Neptune asked, still focused on her nose. Rabbits were CUTE. Hmmm.

But anyway. Back on track. "Or MAYBE... well you know, they had those MURDERS here last year? And you KNOW that most people keep day planners on them. That's the whole point, so you don't forget things. Maybe the person that had this dayplanner," Neptune leaned way into Kellen and held up a hand to funnel her whispered message to his ear, "is still in the swamp."

DUN DUN DUN!

Did he like rabbits? "Sure, I don't mind them. They're cute when they're not eating your flower garden."

Murders last year? Sure, he'd heard about them, but...

"Neptune, are you suggest..." He flicked a glance at the other two and lowered his voice so only she would hear, "Are you suggesting there's a dead person in the swamp?" Wouldn't the headmaster or some other professor have checked for that? The staff weren't that lax, were they? To just let a student go missing and never ask questions?

And if the answers to his questions were no, yes, and yes, in that order, and there was a dead person in the swamp... urgh, they were probably mummified by now.

"It's possible, isn't it?" Neptune asked, her eyes BIG and wide and omgosh there's a dead body!!!!! "Or, maybe before they died they THREW in their day planner! Because it was FULL of secret codes! And the bad guy needed the codes!" Neptune was getting closer and closer as she spoke, having made it up to her knees to make her at eye level with Kellen.
