"I don't know, I think cancers worth risking if I get to be outside." Unable to reach from sitting, Arya stood up to shake the boy's hand. As she sat back down she studied the boy. He had nice eyes, like Sabel, but he was dresses funny. Like he had steped out of a history book and atempted to fit in with the current society. "Hey Chaucer, I'm Arya Lovegoods." Normally she didn't give her last name but since he gave his she figured she could return the gesture. She pointed at her kitten who was still sitting with Sabel."That's my knitten Perseus, nice gloves by the way."

"Always a pleasure, always a pleasure. And too you as well, little cat." Upon saying this, he performed a little half-bow to the kitten on the table. "And yes! They are quite fine gloves aren't they?" Chaucer grinned to himself as he looked upon them, turning his hand this way and that in front of him. Is cancer worth the risk? He thought quietly to himself. He hadn't really played much outside, since his manor always had enough room to run around in. Though with the way things were going at home, he may have to start this 'outdoors' business sooner than later.

Allison herself wasn't a morning person, however if she woke up extra early by the time Merlin could call it morning she was wide awake. And like so that morning she had woken up with such a grumpy mood she hoped to the Gods no one had crossed her path. And it seemed everyone was quite lucky. By the time she arrived at the lake her mood had shifted quite considerably.

Patting her belly she gave another stare to her stalk of letters and looked over at Arya, "Don't forget to get the bag, I'm sure it's yours."

About to tease Sabel some more another fellow arrived at the table. Someone who looked familiar in an odd sense, but she was very sure she had never seen him before. Or had she and her memory was failing? My memory is not failing, I would remember! Ah...yes Allison had an extraordinary memory!

Chaucer couldn't help but notice the queer little girl that just arrived and the scrutiny of her gaze. He narrowed his eyes right back at her before at last exclaiming (in a pitch slightly higher than was necessary) "A la! You were that girl from Astronomy! I'm always impressed when people talk and I can barely understand their vocabulary and, by Dumbledore, you floored me in that class. I'm not quite up on all that science business, but you know I love the stars and moon! All quite romantic you know." Chaucer flicked back his brown hair, satisfied he had recognized the girl correctly.

Arya giggled when Chaucer bowed to Perseus. She wondered where he was from, that among other things."So Chaucer, where are you from?"

In all honesty he felt like Alice in Wonderland; with his clothes not quite fitting right, the Mad Hatter saying something about conditioner, the Cheshire Cat digging his nails into his leg rather painfully, the White Rabbit scolding him of his lateness, and the Cook arguing for the risks of a quick dip. Yes, he had certainly gone down the rabbit hole.

"Morning Allison. I just woke up and decided to get some food, though a walk by the lake sounds like a right fine idea." Sabel mused as he reached forward tenatively, edging his plate out from under Chaucer's arm, taking care to use his other hand to move the boy's sleeve out of contact with so as not to contaminate his precious bacon...Or the sleeve.

He shot Chaucer a confused look from the corner of his eyes, appearing much like a cat who had just finished grooming only to have its work disturbed by a sudden ruffle to the head; not that he had brushed his hair. "You don't get cancer from swimming...And more importantly what's wrong with my conditioner?"
Arya lughed at Sabel who seemed to be in a daze but was now back to reality."You should join us tommorrow morning, if you don't wanna walk you can swim with me."She took a big sip of her orange juice as Perseus climed back into her lap."We should also go to the school's garden latter, I heard it was nice."Grining when Sabel asked Chaucer about his hair, she looked out the window on the beautiful day.

Keeping to herself and lifting food from the mid-table platters, Lily piled her plate high and began working through the food. It had been a long day and she was really hungry. She looked around at all the students that were in her house, wondering what the next few months would have install.

Sighing Sabel decided to drop the topic of conditioner and instead patted down his hair, wondering what Chaucer had done to it. He knew the other boy wouldn't have done anything but fix it, however at the same time he wasn't fond of other people touching his hair, it always left a weird sensation over as if their hand was still there.

Nodding at Allison as he continued to fuss over putting a few strands back in a more comfortable spot, Sabel figured it was a good idea for introductions. "Chaucer, Allison. Allison, Chaucer."

He was about to tell Allison that Chaucer was Kellen's more dramatic cousin, but his thoughts fell short at Arya's words. He froze, blinking at her. Had she said 'swim with her'? She was staring out the window with a grin. He was almost positive she had.

"Sure." Was the only word he could force out so as not to appear impolite. He could feel a slight blush coloring his face and immediately averted his eyes to his plate, snatching a peice of bacon off it and shoving it in his mouth. He had been swimming before, public pools and all, but had never really gone swimming anyone else, especially not with a girl. He vaugely checked the color of his swim shorts with a mental image; just black, no outrageous colors. Good.

Allison sat there silently scrutinizing the boy. Fine, my memory failed me. Oh-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho! may one add. Looking at him she finally recognized him as the boy sitting next to Sabel and near evil Kellen. Giving a torn sigh Allison grabbed a bacon with her fingers only to release it rappidly.

"Yes, yes Astronomy right." Oh please Merlin no! "Are you...Kellen's cousin?" Say no no no no no! While Allison spoke and pleaded in her head, she quickly wiped her fingers on the napkin. It was always quite frightening to Allison when her manners failed her and she did something so disgusting as grab the bacon without her fork. Ew, the grease! That tasted incredible.

Even though Allison had already finished eating she grabbed her fork and stabbed at the bacon. Taking a bite she turned at Arya, "He's from that school...that school. The one that burned down." Allison rose her eye brows as in to indicate he was related to the evil boy. The one who had been rude to Allison, and nice to Arya. Ahem. Yes that boy--Kellen.

Robin then proceeded to hoot and Allison rolled her eyes, "Yes Robin I'll stop by for you to rest before class. Not to worry. Then again I shouldn't give you any treats for not giving Arya and I our chocolate goodies before." Grabbing at her bag Allison opened and gasped with pleasure.

"Oh Arya, more Ferrero Rochers! Yummm! She sent a whole weeks worth. Surely she sent you some as well!" Taking two out she passed one to Chaucer and Sabel, "Muggle chocolates I'm sure you've had them before. My grandfather is part owner of the Italian company."

"Maulking Fen, a small wizarding community far north of here. It's nice, albeit a little bland with everyone trying to keep up appearances. Just imagine it! Well, Mr. Xavier's is a bit of an anti-muggle sort, so that's quite the sore spot with the neighbours." When Chaucer thought back on his home, he suddenly became very glad about his current environment. It had character and intrigue, whereas Maulking Fen had a long history paved over with white concrete and kitschy McMansions.

Why did she look so conflicted? Chaucer couldn't quite tell what was going through her head that caused such a strange combination of disgust and hopefulness. "Why, has he been a bother? I swear, I let that boy for a single bloody day out of my site and he's gone wreaking havoc, havoc! He was a holy terror as a boy, did you know? Broke so many of mum's antiques. Sometimes I think on purpose, but I try not to linger on the past. I could be so immature as a child and it reflects poorly on my current ego." Chaucer decided that perhaps it was best to avoid the fact that Kellen often got him playing 'let's hide the broken Ming vase around the house before auntie notices'. The school that burned down? Oh, so Kellen had told everyone about that.
"Bit of a mess, the academy. Reginald brought the place down to a pile of cinders. Smell never left my clothes, which I was not at all pleased about throwing out. Spent literal HOURS attempting to get rid of the smoke from my hair as well. Time well spent, I say." He flicked his hair just then, as though to prove his point.

The hell with Kellen, she liked Chaucer. He was right, Kellen had been a bother. A scary bother, "It's okay. He just sort of teamed up with this crazy boy named Ian to tease me. Didn't bother me in the least though," Big lie. "I don't think it looks good on him, but it's nice to know he has someone like you who will look after him, and make him a better person."

When Chaucer mentioned the smoke that had latched onto his clothing and hair Allison felt great sadness. Poor boy! The thought of having such a cruel intoxicating smell filling her nose made her wince. "Oh Chaucer, that's awful. I'm so glad you were able to do it, though. I mean your hair...it's so beautiful." Which made her self-conscience of her own. On any nice warm day it would have been silky and fallen in neat waves towards the end of her neck, but because the morning near the lake had been foggy and moist, her brown hair was frizzy and uncontrollable. With a knee-jerk reaction Allison combed her hair with her fingers.

Bullying?! Well, he'd have to find Kellen again and give him a proper talking to. Likely the father's influence; the big brute always disliked Chaucer's way of dealing with things and more often than not instructed his will counteracted his own. "Be sure I'll be speaking with him then. Picking on a young girl is no way to act, none at all! My, he's so impressionable." He lifted a hand delicately to his face and gave a little sigh. Chaucer had been worried for himself, but if what this girl said was true than Kellen was the one that may be heading for disaster! I will guide you, dear cousin, along the path of the righteous! This thought was completely interrupted, never to be seen again, when the girl followed with the words that rang poetically in his ears "your hair... it's so beautiful". He supressed the grin of pride that was welling in his chest with great difficulty, barely managing to play a reserved smirk of confidence on his thin mouth instead.

"Thank you dear, thank you. It's quite good, I know!" He padded his hair fondly before noticing the obvious distress on the girl's face. "Ah, but I have the wealth to access only the best products so I really have no excuse... Oh! I have just the thing!" From his leather satchel-that-was-not-a-purse, Chaucer took out a small spray bottle. With small rapid steps, he went up behind her and pulled her hands out of her hair -"You'll only muss it that way". He ungloved his hands and, with impressive speed, squirted a few quick spurts onto her hair, running through it with his spindley fingers. He looked up at Arya while he fussed...

"Mercy, I should say not! No, they all dress in whatever happens to be expensive at the time and displayed in a shop window. I've seen periods where they outdo myself in their dress followed immediately by periods of such modesty, it feels rather like the depression has sunk in! Such is the way of those who have no idea what drives them. It must be a sad existence." Though this may have been true, he smiled nonetheless. Chaucer, in a way, actually liked how everyone else at home dressed the same; it left less work for him to appear unique. Often a simple hat would do the trick, though he preferred a more complete ensemble when possible.

He looked down at the girl whose hair he was still working with. "La la, almost forgot about you I did! I think we're done here though, yes..." Chaucer gave a discerning stare at it for a moments before confirming with a steady nod. "In weather like this, I often have to spray myself a few times a day. Little trade secret you can put under your cap." He gave a wink that came off more effeminate than he probably intended.

Managing not to choke on his bacon and swallow it back, although still rather unchewed, Sabel gave Arya a small smile and nod. "How cold is the water here. Because back in Canada in the mountains the water is free---"

He blinked rapidly as Chaucer removed a spray bottle from his...err...bag. And then he stared. He simply stared at Allison and Chaucer. Why she was letting Chaucer run his fingers through her hair was beyond him. But of more interest was to why he was carying hairspray in his bag; besides that it was Chaucer and he probably sported a hairdryer in there as well. Not one to be particularly timid around his friends, Sabel latched a finger on the lip of the bag and peered in. "Gosh man. What else do you have in here? The bathroom sink?"

Using a hankerchief to wipe off his hands, Chaucer looked over Sabel nonchalantly. "Sink? Not quite, but I have some hand lotion, my compact, tweezers a b-- oh, I see what you did there." After he finished wiping the product from his hands, he put the hankerchief back in his sleeve and slipped on his gloves. "It always pays to look one's best. Mum always said, "wear clean underwear, because you never know when you'll die in a horrific accident". Never quite understood the old girl, but I assume she meant something about being conscious about the possible hygiene of one's corpse. Words to live by, I say." Chaucer always felt confident that the sight of his glorious face enshrouded in death would stun those around with such sorrow they'd cry for days and bring him flowers. Tobias would probably bring blue roses - ah, how nice that would be!

He should like if someone sang Ave Maria as well...

What an obscure thing to say. He glanced up at Chaucer for a moment, considering the boy before looking back in the bag. He did seem to have all that and more. Did the boy even have any textbooks in the collection. "You know," he mused, searching for some form of scholary item, "Due to a loss of bodily function some deficate their clean underwear when they die." That of course wasn't to say he didn't believe in clean underwear; he was a firm believer of hygine, if not of presentability of that hygine.

Allison at first thought thought Chaucer was insane and he was about to attack her with a spray-of-who-knew-what. And gave a visible flinch. When he then sprayed her hair she felt odd. No one had ever bothered with her hair since her mother, and she had to admit it felt quite nice. After having a look at Chaucer's flawless hair Allison thought herself in the best of hands. Letting herself be mussed over Allison gave a content sigh.

However there was a moment when she was sure Chaucer had wondered in thoughts when he pulled her hair enough to cause her to yelp. Looking at Sabel who looked as if she was committing a horrid crime by allowing Chaucer near her hair Allison rose an eyebrow. If Sabel didn't like it, perhaps she should ask the boy to stop? But before she could take any action Chaucer affirmed the obvious: he was finished.

Removing her served plate, she picked up the bottom silver plate and used it for a mirror. Her hair was no longer frizzy, but now silky...and her waves looks more like very wide lose curls. Not knowing whether to be happy or scared/astonished Allison placed the plate down and did what her mother would dictate, "Thank you! It's...it's quite nice. Wonderful really." She had no clue about hair or clothing so she had to guess for the best words

Grinning Allison shook her head, the idea of a bathroom sink was too much for her, although she knew that with the right magic one could shrink things into bags, purses, satchels...anything at all. Biting into her own chocolate, she gave Sabel a look of contained laughter, "Have you all started on your Astronomy homework?"

Chaucer's head whipped around to look at the Gryffindor boy, eyes wide. "You're fibbing! You are aren't you? That's terrible! How can I prevent this? How long has this been happening?!" All of his romantic death scenes were now befouled by this new information. "Ugh, there's nothing for it then. I'll have to die in a fire." He had no plans of the kind, but rather was referring to his 'imaginary' self, the one he often thought about in great fanciful reveries performing heroic deeds.

As was typical of Chaucer, any doubts or insecurities he harboured were thrown completely away at the sound of a compliment. "Even I wasn't expecting it to look so fine. You'll turn a few heads more, I guarantee that!" He chuckled to himself before the notion of 'homework' was able to find ground in his airy head. "Homework... right. I had forgotten. Too often I find that homework cheapens the experience of receiving the actual lessons that I so adore. I understand the necessity, however, and shall perform the deed without complaint." He said this with his hand delicately posed in the air like some old saint, as though he were truly martyring a part of himself to do this simple task.

Dumbfounded he blinked back and forth between Chaucer and Allison. Between Chaucer's sudden change in emotion and not knowing whether Allison was laughing or crying Sabel definetly felt like he had been tossed down the rabbit hole. But he had wanted the blue pill. Letting out a heavy breath he decided it wasn't a wise idea to scar dear Chaucer anymore and agreed with him on the homework. "Haven't started it yet. And uhm, Allison. Are you okay?" Was she laughing or crying?

Choluna looked around, desperate to meet someone! "Anyone here?" She then saw 2 boys! She hoped that one of them would talk to her! She didn't think they were Ravenclaws, so she would be happy to meet someone not from her house! It would also be her first boy she talked to this term. *sigh* She wanted a boyfriend. She knew she was a little young, but she was a hopeless romantic, and she hoped one of the boys would find her attractive!

Arya watched in amusement as Chaucer stood behind Allison doing her hair. He reminded her of her mom when she was giving Noah a haircut, he seemed like a natural.Tilting her head to the side she smiled, His hair does looked nice. All the talk of hair made her absentmindedly play with the ends of her hair. She listened as he talkes about how they dressed in his hometown. Trying to imagine what the people looked like compared to Chaucer. Giving up she went back to her food. Realizing she had none she piled more onto her plate."It must be..."

"Its not as cold a Canada water but its a little chill with the morning air. I don't swim for to long though, just a few minutes to wake me up."She watched as Sabel went through Chaucer's bag, wondering herself what was in it.

Choluna was so bored and felt like such a freak and an outsider! Then she realized something! "Hey!!! The four of us are all from different houses! You two guys are Gryffindor and Slytherin, and I'm a Ravenclaw and you (pointing to the girl) are a Hufflepuff! Oh! I'm Choluna! Pleasure to meet 'yall!"

Allison's fit of laughter turned into uncontrollable giggles. She hated giggling, but it just sort of happened...tsk tsk how unlady like. "I'm fine really," giggle giggle, "Don't look...*breath* at me like that Sabel, I'm fine!" giiiiiiggle giggle giggle giggle.

Fanning herself she gave an offended look at Arya, something that didn't quite work with Allison's red face and watery eyes, "Now! That's not true! I've only read for the answers. I won't start on it until after flying class. Which is quite soon."

Allison gave a big sigh and looked at her half finished chocolate. A shame something so good could go to waste. Obviously she couldn't put it back into her mouth, so instead she opened a new one.

Choluna looked at the Slytherin boy (she hoped he was nice! She had met some Slytherins this year that had surprised her and been really nice!) "Hi! I'm really bored, and I want to meet some new people! I'm Choluna! What's your name?"
Chaucer was certain Allison was fine. Women were prone to such severe bouts of emotion and there were already two of them looking out for her; too many cooks in the kitchen ruins the meal, and all that. Besides that, there was a curious girl a little ways off that seemed to be looking at the group intently. Or is she... Chaucer whisked his head left and right in an attempt to discern whether or not her gaze was actually idrected elsewhere. A la? Perhaps Sabel has gained a secret admirer! How romantic! He grinned to himself; if he invited the girl over and she hit it off with Sabel, how delighted he would be! Maybe a little this and a little that and after awhile he would be best man.

No, not yet. He mustn't stray so far from the mark this early in the game. First thing's first...

Chaucer gave the girl a confident grin and, with a black gloved hand, motioned for her to come join the group. He cast a knowing look to Sabel: You are going to adore me for this, comrade.

Sighing, Sabel shook his head and returned to looking through Chaucer's bag. Whether or not she was fine was debatable, but he figured whatever look he was giving her was not helpful. So, he turned his attention back to Chaucer's bag, finding many of the items raher interesting to be carried around on a person, but at the same time, all of them said 'Chaucer'.

Pulling his head out of the bag at the new voice, Sabel looked around, blinking. His eyes landed on a girl not too far away who was watching them, probably intrigued by Chaucer's dress and dramatic displays. Giving her a small smile he figured introductions wouldn't hurt. That was until he caught Chaucer's gaze. Something inside him made his legs want to run in the opposite direction.

Holding up his hand, without really noticing he had pulled out one of Chaucer's brushes and was now waggling it at him, Sabel frowned. "You have the look Stern has when he's planning. What in the world are you up to?"

Nervously she went over to them! As she walked towards them, she thought they were both VERY handsome! The Slytherin was dark and mysterious, and the Gryffindor looked like a gentleman! "Thank you for inviting me over! I'm sorry for interrupting you or anything! I don't have many friends, but I'm really a people person! So what are your names?" She looked directly at the Gryffindor while saying this, although she meant it for all! But the Gryffindor was just so handsome she couldn't take her eyes of of him!

"Oh don't be so suspicious. You should know that Kellen and I are on almost opposite ends of the spectrum. Psh~" Chaucer gave a quick tug on his bag, forcing Sabel to release it. It wasn't that he was bothered by the boy's rummaging, he just wanted to take away the distracting contents.

A-ha! So I have hit the mark. Chaucer, my love, you have sharply identified the elusive root of romance! Perhaps Sabel would have spoken on his own accord, but this was too slow for Chaucer who instead voiced: "This is Sabel. Fine gentlemen, proud to say I know him! Brave too apparently, but we haven't seen that yet. Be sure we will!... or.. don't as I can't exactly predict that sort of thing." He couldn't exactly think of anything to say that wouldn't completely enrapture this Choluna, so he decided to take a bit of a step back.

"Allison! You were saying how your family is part of a muggle-based chocolate operation? How I ADORE chocolates!" He smiled boyishly.

Her smirk grew bigger when Allison confirmed that she was alright. She didn't dare atempt to consume anything just in case Allison's laughter was contagious."Yea it is starting soon. Then we'll have muggle studies, sounds like my easiest class if you ask me. I can't wait." When Allison controled her laughter she picked up her drink to take a sip.

Not but a second after she picked up her orange juice did she get startled by a Ravenclaw girl who seemed amazed by there diversity. Blinking her wide eyes she stared at a girl before smiling."Hey Choluna...I'm Arya. Yea were in diffrent houses..."Arya laughed at the bit about her being in Hufflepuff, which she was more than proud of."...yup I'm a badger! And your a raven."She pointed at the girl stating the obvious.

Arya looked curiously from Sabel to Chaucer when Sabel spoke. Wondering what the boys were planing.

It wasn't as if Allison had called dibs on Sabel or anything of the sort--romance had not hit her yet, but much like the reaction she had when any guys, or girls for that matter, were too close to Cela, she got the same reaction when overly friendly people were all up on Sabel as well.

What also added to Allison's annoyance was the way she stared at Sabel and even Chaucer and seemed to ignore Allison's presence completely. Raising her voice slightly Allison cut between Sabel and the girl's stare towards him--thinking she was saving Sabel and said, "Allison Scott! So niiiiice to meet you!" She stretched the word.

If Sabel was right about Chaucer's planning, she hoped to Merlin it was a way of helping her save Sabel.
