"Oh neat." said Nina. "Um.. Charms and Transfiguration mostly. The DADA and Potions. I'm afraid I'll mess up in potions, though, you have to be very exact. I'm not so into Herbology. Plants aren't really my kind of thing.

"I'm sure you'll do fine in Potions," Vashti assured with a smile. "I'd be happy to help you, if you'd like. I mean, I don't know if I'm good at Potions or not since I've never really done anything like it, but I'd still be happy to help anyway." When Nina mentioned Herbology, Vashti nodded. "Yeah, I kinda agree with you there, though I'm still kinda excited to see what kinds of plants we'll be working with. I think it could be interesting."

Noticing Nina and coming out of her book reverie, Thana walked over to the two girls disscussing something and said. "Hi Nina! How was your sleep?" Noticing yet another person, she said, "Hi, I'm Thana Angevine. What's your name?"

Livvy glanced over at Adrienne who was talking to a girl about Quidditch. OH. It was the girl that bit her tongue! She wondered if he was okay. No matter. They were talking about Quidditch. Who cared about bitten tongues? Quidditch was WAYYY cooler and most definitely MORE important. "Quidditch? What? What about Quidditch? Oh. Are you trying out?" Livvy asked the bitten tongued girl.

"What did you all do over the summer break?" Cela asked, looking over at Adrienne as well.

Sigh. She soo wished she could share a dorm with these three. Maybe she could just.... move in and get away with it. Becca and Melly and Lucy would hardly miss her, right?

Blink.

Was that supposed to be a greeting? Meh. Livvy supposed so. She should be quite used to the girl's odd way of saying 'hello' by now. Yes. She really should. But Cela never ceased to surprise her.

"How does not having homework make you feel strange? You haven't been doing homework for the past three months. Why strange now?" she asked, curiously and a bit confused. Unless... she had been doing homework DURING the summer? Odd.... girl. Even LIVVY wasn't that crazy to do homework during vacation. That was just insane.

What did she do? Meh. Livvy just shrugged and smiled. "Not much really. I went back home in Taiwan and then came back for the World Cup."

Vashti smiled at the girl who introduced herself. "I'm Vashti Greenwell. Nice to meet you, Thana."

Vashti set the book she was holding down in her lap, as she figured she wasn't going to be able to read for a little while. That wasn't too big of a deal since she did want to make some friends here.

"Sure. And I'll help you too, if you need it." Nina told Vashti.


"Hi. Refreshing." Nina said smiling. "And yours?"

"I heard you were talking about course subjects. I really have no idea which is what, apart from the obvious, but they all sound really interesting and fun!" Hopefully Thana would get to try them all. Thana also closed her book, keeping her page with a blue silk bookmark.

"Mine was great, thanks. I actually woke up before noon!"

Nina laughed. "Now that's an accomplishment."

"You hungry at all? I haven't eaten yet today, I was too absorbed in this book." Thana raised Rowena Ravenclaw and the Rest: How Hogwarts Was Founded. "Trust me, it's more interesting than the title sounds."

"I are just before, but I can go for dessert if you want to head to the Great Hall."

"Yeah, sure. Vashti, do you want to come?"

"Mhm!" Nina led the way out of the common room.

Thana followed.

Thana walked up the graceful spiral staircase to the girls' dormitory.

Mina looked up from her thinking to see Dal seating in front of her. She did have a lot to talk to her about. She realized they didn't really talk much as year, but she did consider Dal a very close friend and it was time for her to open up to a friend about all the craziness from the previous year.

"It's probably silly, but I don't want like the WHOLE school hearing me talk about it." she blushed a little. "It's about a boy, well one of my friends. I just need to talk to someone about it." She just needed to get it off her chest and than maybe she could get over it.

Like you really want to get over it.

Allison sat there just staring at Adrienne. Then the girl cheered. Cela spoke. And Allison's brain exploded. Dizzy and dazed Allison just sat there not saying anything. All she needed was a bit of drool and someone would think she was asleep with her eyes open.

Too many things were happening all at once. She knew people had been or were still encouraging her with the Quidditch topic. It seemed Arya and Anastasia were happy she was going to try-out. However she didn't want to think about it. And well, she really couldn't with her brain malfunctioning and the only thing she could hear was people impersonating Charlie Brown's teacher "wah wah, wah wah wah wah."

If her brain had been alright, rest assured she would have attacked Cela and at this point be sitting next to Cela and admiring her with the little twinkle she get in her eyes. Yet...it was not possible.

And the attempt at helping Allison calm down obviously didn't work, if the look on the first year's face told Adrienne anything. The girl was practically catatonic, and after a glance at Livvy, who had picked up on her conversation and had asked the younger girl about signing up, Adrienne shook her head slightly, as if to tell the head girl to cease and desist. Maybe if they let Allison deal with things in her own time, she'd be better off. Sending the tiny girl another smile, not even sure if it was going to get through to her, she then turned to address the other comments that had been made.

"Some people just really like learning things, and homework is one way of getting to that end," she said conversationally, in response to Livvy's confusion. "And maybe being back here at Hogwarts helps trigger that need." Not that she knew enough about Cela to really explain the revelation, but she knew herself, and the fact she really wanted to have any of her schoolbooks with her right now. Not to mention the fact that she'd read during a lot of her trip to France, when Grandmother had left her to her own devices. Turning to Cela, she shrugged in response to the question about her summer, even though it had neatly been led to by her thoughts. "I didn't do a lot over the summer. A lot of reading, and I went to France like I always do for a month. Learned about a lot of things, bought shoes . . ." She trailed off as she heard Livvy's response, then grinned. "You were at the World Cup? So was I, but I don't remember seeing you. But then, there were a lot of people there. So maybe I missed you." Which sounded like a really bad excuse, now that she'd said it. But then, having spent half her time at the Cup trying to pitch a tent had kind of taken her attention away from much else there.

"Well I've done a bit of light reading over the summer." Celandine answered, though her definition of light reading was fairly different even to most Ravenclaws. "Its just that we are back and..." She gestured at the hourglass. "I like it when that is full up of sapphires."

Her sapphires.

"Oooh did you have fun? I was supposed to go, had tickets for the topbox but I went shopping by myself in Diagon Alley and in my favourite Wizarding District in St. Petersburg and got in trouble so I wasn't allowed to go."

Sad face.

"But I got a bunch of Quidditch players to sign my unripped tickets, so at least I have a cool memento!"

"Gosh I hope I learn stuff this term." Cela's tone made it pretty clear that she wasn't sure she would. "New things I mean, not just practicing the stuff I already know."

Cela listened carefully as Adrienne answered her question about the summer.

"I travelled too." She informed the other girls. "I went to see Juni... Juniper Goodwin? Do you remember her?" Cela looked around, "...In Moscow. Stayed with my Grandmother in Sicily as usual and for my sixteenth birthday, Copernicus took me to see the Wizarding University in Cairo where he is attending this year. He's studying Wizarding Archaeology because Profe.... Mister Truebridge got him an internship under one of the Professors there last summer, so he got accepted in straight away."

Cela smiled and added. "Oh, and Adrienne, I got a bunch of new pairs of shoes too. I have some catelogues coming by owl this week so I can get some more stuff for anything that comes up during the term."

After a few minutes Allison's fuzzy head began to clear. And although the first word she heard had been about the Quidditch World Cup her brain still hadn't allowed her to have any physical reactions...like the twitch she would have gotten at the mention of the sport. Or the yelp that would have escaped her if Adrienne or any other asked her if she attended.

Listening she noticed that once you got older it seemed a passion of all girls were shoes. Looking down at her own feet Allison tilted her head. Her mother loved shoes and tried getting Allison all these brands, but she really didn't care for them. All she knew was that her shoes were a sort of Italian leather flat, that were extremely comfortable and looked alright in her eyes. Shifting her eye sight she saw Cela's and Adrienne's and wondered. Would one day come when she really cared about shoes?

It was very interesting. The obsession they had about shoes. Isn't that what her uncle's complained about? All women and their obsession with shoes. Thus, she came to the conclusion Cela and Adrienne were...obsessed. Shoes by catalog. She wanted to see this. "Catalog? You mean...on paper?" Allison had heard about trivial items by catalog, but shoes? No matter, she was going to seem them if her hero let her. "Cela, can I see when they come?"

Still looking at Cela with puppy eyes she noticed an addition to the group of girls. It was no longer the prefect and the Quidditch captain...but also the head girl. The girl who had been speaking with Kellen and Ian. The girl who she had laughed at for even trying to speak with an evil boy and a dim-witted fool. Allison had her reason for her opinions...especially with Kellen calling Cela the friend of Trog, and Ian trying to steal Cela's badge. Big no nos. She also recalled how she had horribly feigned a bitten tongue.

Looking at the girl, Allison gave her a nervous smile, "You're our head girl. I remember you from the feast. Olivia Zhang right? I'm Allison."

Introductions were starting to tire Allison. She had met over 20 people, and as of that moment could only remember 8 or 9. However, she did know that they were important.

Debating whether or not to add her summer Allison thought best to hold her tongue. The girls were older than Allison, and much more mature. So she thought perhaps hearing them talk more about their summers would be more... convenient.

Phoebus traipsed into the common room, dark eyes scanning the room for a comfortable empty seat. He just wanted a place to read a bit. He'd picked up a couple of novels and wanted to kind of start one before term got too insane. It was the only form of normal entertainment he had since Riley was still just...gone.

Then he spotted Adrienne. Oh man. He'd done so well with...well, avoiding her because he didn't know what to say to her, but there she was. He looked around, as if to make a dash back upstairs, yet thenhe locked gazes with Cela. Holy harpies, what was he supposed to DO? Why were there no closets he could jump into? He was sure he'd been spotted now though so he made as if he suddenly remmbered something so he began turning on his heel to go back upstairs, hoping to go unnoticed.

"Yes on paper, like a magazine for shopping." Celandine explained, turning her attention to Allison quite cheerfully. "Of course you can! I need some orange shoes." She added in a decisive tone. Obviously this was a critical thing. "You can help me choose!"

It was just a good thing that Ravenclaw blue went with almost every colour. Except... well she couldn't think of any exceptions.

"I have lots coming. Clothes too, not just shoes. One from Victorias Secret as well."

The sheer range of catalogues which Cela had coming was intense. Books too of course, as well as odd little bits and bobs, giftware and even, for reasons she wasn't entirely sure of, the latest Wizarding Property market guides.

It was just a thing she liked to moon over. Dream over.

Well haiii there Phoebus.

Celandine brightened, as she caught his eye and waved at him. Where was he going?

"Hiiii Phoebus, come join us!" She even scooted over on the couch, leaving just enough space for him to squeeeeze in between her and the arm of it.

"How was your summer?"

Adrienne grinned a little as it seemed she hadn't been far off with her explanation of Cela's wish for homework. "I think we all hope we learn something new. At least maybe with the new professors we can look forward to new stuff." Hopefully. New professors, in her mind, were always a wild card. Some of the ones last term certainly hadn't taught them much, but at least they were gone. But then Cela was talking about her own summer, and she quieted down to listen. "Juniper Goodwin is in Moscow?," she asked, a bit confused. She vaguely remembered the girl, but she'd left a while ago. And then Cela was talking about the other places she'd went, and she smiled. "That sounds like fun. I just went to France, and I was in Australia for like one day." For Raven's party, and she really liked the fact she had been able to Apparate there. "And then the rest of the time I was in England. So you got to see way more than I did." Hmm, Cela seems to kind of have a problem not thinking of Professor Truebridge as a professor too, she thought, having noted the slight stumble. But then shoes were brought up, and her interest went straight to that. "Oh? What designers?," she asked, curious to see if the prefect had any shoes like she had up in her trunk. Since she had brought all of hers with her, with the help of a few charms.

And then she heard Allison speak, and looked over with a smile. "I would guess catalog as in paper, although possibly they could be on something else," she said then, happy the first year didn't seem as nervous anymore. Even though she was fairly certain electronics needed complex charms to work on Hogwarts grounds. Anything could happen. Maybe the weird catatonia had actually helped, and the little firstie would be okay now. And Allison was then talking to Livvy, and she sat back happily. Maybe this term would be better than she thought.

As she sat back, she caught movement in her peripheral vision, and glanced over to see the familiar form of Phoebus. Who she still wondered if he was avoiding her after what happened over the summer. And eventhough she didn't know what was supposed to happen next, with all that, she wasn't going to let him avoid her forever. They shared a common room, so they were going to have to figure it out eventually. As he turned like he was leaving again, she decided to stop him. He was her friend, at least, even if things were weird at the moment. And she knew he knew Cela too. "Phoebus, hey," she called out, shifting to face him more as the conversation went on behind her. Other than obviously Cela's, since she'd seen him too. "I've been wondering where you'd been," she added. Hopefully not intentionally anywhere she wasn't, because that would make her feel even worse.

Allison's eyes were everywhere, only on rare occasions were they not. For example a few moments ago when her brain had exploded...

However, because her head was clear and Cela was talking to her, Allison was all eyes. If Allison had a puppy tail it would be wagging at that moment, and if she had dog ears they'd have perked up the minute the boy walked in. Instead, her eyes were shining with admiration and her head twitched a slight bit when the boy walked in.

Answering to Cela while looking at the boy out of the corner of her eye, Allison said, "I'd love to help you choose! This is so exciting! Cela! Orange shoes! Wow!" Orange shoes were such a bizarre choice in her head that she had struggled to say wow. Then again wow could go both ways: Wow that's great! Wow...what on Earth are you thinking?! When it came to the Victoria Secret catalog, Allison chose not to answer. She was young, still a mere child, and she really still had no need for Victoria Secret material, so she ignored that portion of the conversation and really paid attention to the boy when she saw Cela's recognition.

The boy looked uncomfortable, much like she did early with a tad bit more added to his plate. Allison did nothing but observe and took everything it in, clicking the save button in her head. When she was about to start forming conclusions as to why he was uneasy something disgraceful occurred. He was squished between Cela and the coach arm. True Allison was sharing a seat with Adrienne, but still. Boy. Was. In. The. Way. And she didn't like that one bit.

Frowning, Allison decided not to like him on the spot.

Bella smiled as Michelle made her way to the couch next to Isabella.

"Your friends haven't returned? Well, that's strange! The train ride was cool, though I didn't make any new friends! How were your vacations?" Michelle tried to sound cheerful while asking Bella about her vacations and desperately trying to forget about her own.
