The easiest way to get from one floor to the next is to take the staircase. But, you' better watch out! It moves

Mina held the journal tightly in he hand as she allowed herself to be moved with the staircase. She had intended to go down to her favorite thinking spot, but the stairs were now leading her in a different direction. She didn't mind at all, she did enjoy exploring the castle. Perhaps she would run into someone once the staircase stopped.

We all know whom you want to run into, silly girl. Her constant guests, the inner voices in her head were at it again. She really did need to learn to block them out more.

Silly girl, telling everyone one thing. But we all know what is true. Stupid inner voices would pick right now to tease her. It would be asking for too much for them to allow her just a few weeks of peace before the annoyance would start. The sooner you accept what you know and feel, the sooner we stop teasing.

Mina shook her head, trying again to silence the voices teasing her within her own head, when she noticed another person on the stairs. Turning to the source of the voice, she smiled. "Hello." she replied.

"It's plenty clean," he said absently as they came upon the staircase. The... moving one. He remembered this. Getting stuck up on it because he hadn't known he was allergic to pumpkin... And Nicholai Toussaint had had to levitate him to the hospital wing, where he'd almost thrown up on Miss Healer Intern Trelawney. "If you wanna swim without the water touching you, I'm sure there's spells that you can do for it..."

Hmmm.

"This is the third floor. The hospital wing's on this one, which... you should remember, it's important and stuff." Because surely... Neptune would end up hurting herself at one point.

Natasha came beside the girl, giving her a grin. "Do you want some company?" She asked, but she wouldn't be particular offended if she said no. Natasha was good at being alone, without being lonely, but the girl seemed to look nice enough, a bit younger than herself.

Whoever got the idea to create a moving staircase was both a genius and at least partly out of his, or her, mind. Although, that was usually the way it ended up in the world; Einstein, Da Vinci and others that he couldn't call to mind at the moment. Brilliant men with beautiful talent, just a little...Sabel stumbled for the word as he gripped the edge of the stone railing, looking down onto all the other staircases that were, yes, moving.

Strange. That was the word he was looking for, though he would have prefered it if the internal vocalization hadn't been accompanied by a wave of nausea. He remembered just how much he disliked heights and moving heights was, well, worse. Of course Merlin did not seem to be bothered by the ride, lounging around his shoulders in a content slumber. Once again, he wished he possessed the nerves of his cat.

Words. Someone was speaking to him. Blinking he pulled his eyes from staring down the dizzying height and turned them over in the direction of the voice. He had to blink again just to clear his vision, maintaining a firm hold on the banister.

"Evie." A small smile touched his lips; it would have been a grin if he wasn't feeling so woosy. Somehow, he still managed to let out a small laugh. "Yeah. Ages. I think I've gotten some grey hairs." He titled his head a little, teasing. "Care to check?"

She was planning on heading to the grounds but hanging out on the stairs meeting new people sounded fun as well. "I'm Mina, by the way," she said as the stairs again moved. She was lucky she wasn't prone to motion sickness as the stairs kept changing course so often.

Letting out a relieved breath, Sabel straightened a little. "Good. I don't think grey is in style yet." He flashed her a small smile that he hoped would pass as reassuring at the same time the stairs started moving again, turning his grip to a vice on the banister. "Yeah...." Swallow. "I'm okay..." Or at least he hoped he would be.

Even though she'd only known him a little while she knew that he was totally uncoordinated but that didn't really explain the stair thing. "i would love to see you on a rollercoaster" she said trying not to laugh "but a few seats away, just in case" she was giggling now. She sniffed and stood up straight. "Sorry, its not funny" she said but smiled anyway.

At first, Sabel wasn't too sure he appreciated the jests as the stairs lurched to the side. Okay, the stairs didn't lurch, but his stomach sure did. He swallowed back the rising bile and glanced at her as she giggled. Letting out as much of a breath as he could manage without expelling his meal, Sabel decided he must indeed appear comical as he clutched the stairs for dear life. The mention of the rollarcoasters only made him wince; he had been on one before and it had not ended well.

Glancing at her he gave a small smile, unable to keep it from his face as he saw her smiling. "I'm not good with heights. Especially not moving heights."

"Ah, you might want to reconsider the wisdom of that." Sabel teased, holding onto the stairwell as he held out a hand to her. He knew she was much more steady on her feet than he was and had no problems with height, but it was more of an instinct to offer her a hand up the stairs, like it was to shake hands when greeting someone new. He gave her a genuine smile. "I honestly have no idea where I'm going. Especially with these things moving around so much."

"just a quick newsflash for you, i'm a first year... i have no idea where i'm going either" Evie smiled "when i met up with you i was in the middle of being lost" she smiled and looked around for a place to go everywhere seemed to look the same. "i have a horrible sense of direction, it's going to take time for me to not get lost" Evie said woth a small laugh "i'd say i'll get the hang of it just before next summer" she smiled and shrugged at her surroundings.

"Nice to meet you," Mina smiled back. "I'm only a second year." she added. She was still small for her age and really couldn't wait for her growth spurt. "So where were you wandering to?" she asked. Even in her time there, she wasn't all that familiar with the whole castle. There were so many more places she would explore. She needed to some how fit her exploring into her busy schedule of massive studying and point earning.

She was trusting him with randomly pointing in any direction he chose. He likened it to playing spin the bottle at birthday parties, except that a bottle had more sight than he did. Originally he had no bias in the direction he chose, each had an equal opportunity of putting them closer, or further away from whatever their original, desired goals had been. Now however, with the way his head was starting to spin, there was a definite bias to the door the staircase was lining up with. Pointing with one finger he motioned to it. "How's that way?"
